I've addressed the drake issue when a follower sent me his apology, which I personally thought was good bc he took accountibility & did say he respects everyone. the one thing missing was an explanation though, which is annoying bc it's what misses from most thai actors controversies. but personally, I did think he was being genuine & not a transphobe, though I am definitely biased since drake is one of my favorite thai actors. I've talked multiple times about the cultural differences between "ladyboys" (katoey) & trans people: though now most "ladyboys" now identify as trans women bc they've learned about the western term for it, they were historically considered as a sort of third gender in thailand. that means it is more globally accepted to say things about them in thailand that would be seen as insensitive in the west, and thai trans women themselves have grown accustomed to mocking their own transness to be successful in the thai entertainment industry. this means that the "____ is transphobic" controversies only ever regard international fans, while thai fans don't even bat an eye. it's not my place to say what's wrong or right in those situations, but that's why I feel hesitant to condemn ANY thai person as transphobic when the cultures are so different & sensitivities so opposed. trans rights are under attack everywhere in the west, meanwhile "ladyboys" have existed openly (somewhat safely, I'm sure there's attacks & discrimination on them, but I couldn't find any data about it) for literal centuries in thailand.

Would you say that Male Omegas in Knights and Pawns are treated in a somewhat “classically” feminine way/are feminized? Like, having doors held open for them, getting help when stepping from a car. Being called “Mama” by their Pups, or having their Alphas be the “Head” of their households, and having the Alpha partner dominate in the bedroom. Also being the stay at home parent, and not being the breadwinner even if they would like to. And going to school but not college (even, again, if they wanted to). (The opposite would of course be Female Alphas being treated in a more traditionally masculine way!) Does all this behavior/treatment depend on the Omega, Society, their marriage, or just the way their brought up from puppyhood?

They're not brought up a certain way from puppyhood, that's an interesting distinction to me, they're brought up a certain way from mid adolescence - or that is when you get a secondary gender turbo course. I'm not quite sure how an Alpha girl should present as an Alpha only as a teenager, they probably have a dick? But then how would anyone immediately know they're female? (Given that ultrasounds are a very recent invention?) Are all girls born kinda intersex and do they finish forming their genitals much later? And yes, I say omegas are feminised but only much later, unless of course, they're suspected to be omegas from the start. I think that Anthony was brought up to be much tougher than Luna, because he could be a father one day, like his Mama. (And I feel he hates it and would be so relieved to finally allowed to be 'proper' omega, more than Daniel ever felt necessary himself!) If Daniel had had children with Kumiko he would be Daddy to such a child. If male omegas remarry and father children they can be both mommy and daddy to their children depending on which children they physically gave birth to, and which children they impregnate others with.

If Daniel were married to a female Alpha, she'd be the breadwinner and the Dominant one (we've seen how that looks in Cobra Kai anyway). Though Terry is a somewhat extreme case. And again, in omegas and Alphas much of these gender roles are innate.

Omegas do work some jobs but I think they'd feel having to be the breadwinner a terrible burden, generally. But they are more naturally caregiving than I, a pretty cis woman, could ever be.

I prefer not to analyse my gender stance in abo too much. I feel that gender roles are incredibly politicised, and I feel that is so dangerous. Yet, I also feel that my personal feelings of what it means to be female are shifting a lot closer to some right wing traditionalist's wet dream even though I was raised to specifically reject that way of life, and I also don't fit into it fully. Just like the Sun, the Court of the Sun is bright, powerful, and vast. Born into royalty, Carmelo would be the next child of the King and Queen to receive the honor of the Rhayos name. Even his first name was an homage to the revered king since he appeared to have a birthmark on his back that resembled the ‘Scar of the Sun’ that the predecessor supposedly had. But despite his existence being a tribute to Castor, Carmelo had many brothers and sisters that he felt like he would have little chance of becoming the next king. And truthfully, if he were to never receive the crown, he would have been fine with it. Still, even though he was a prince with no apparent responsibilities, his parents had him focus on his studies and become involved with the arts, even had him train with their army as if he would be in the frontlines if there were ever another war. But, from all the studying he has done, he couldn’t ignore the possibility.

A few years had passed and the Fairy Prince had reached the age of eighteen, where he finally presented as an Alpha, which surprised no one due to his peculiarly tall stature even at a younger age. Carmelo was growing up to be a fine young man, strong and having immense potential if he were to ever carry the Court to another era of prosperity. However, the young man had other plans. Although he had no complaints about his life in the Fairy Realm, Carmelo was curious about the dimension that held Earth. i recently reread openbound's transcripts for fun and have been left with a lingering question. *jerry seinfeld voice* what's the deal with beforus?

if alternia is meant to be a race-mixing tranny nightmare hellscape then what does that make beforus? it's told to us as the antithesis of all things alternia but hasn't actually solved all of its complex caste hierarchy problems, just painted them in a new but still bad light. we know little about its government or if it has clown police too but we do know that as empress feferi overcorrected hard, trading out violence for infantilization. feferi is the least overtly black-coded of the peixeses (i'd even argue that she isn't black-coded at all when you consider the way hussie writes the rest of his "black" characters), so does this mean that beforus = nonviolent = white? purging a society of blackness makes a utopia? and considering that alternia's black ruling class makes up a small percentage of the population anyway does this mean homestuck secretly reinforces the 13/50 stereotype???

not that it worked i guess because a lot of the alpha trolls still committed horrific acts of violence against one other and then all died anyway. something something one drop rule.

and then there's kankri, who complicates things, as he is best at. he talks at length about non-cis blood colors. he drops terms such as polyblooded, transblooded, cool-identifying physically-warmer hues, and so on that imply a much more complex relationship with race than alternia has. so is that the end goal? beforus is actually pro-miscegenation, and the only way to achieve true harmony is actually to subscribe to white replacement theory? (granted the way he talks about these things was brief and likely not widely accepted, but the fact that there are words for transblooded trolls at all means that, at least, the idea is out there.) the alpha trolls glaringly don't have a limeblooded friend after all. were they similarly eradicated like they were on alternia or are kankri and co. reverse racist?

I don't believe there are meaningful differences between Alternia and Beforus, as far as references to irl racism goes. To me it's the difference between Horrorterrors and Squiddles: the latter is a defanged abstraction of the former, but both still represent an insidious Other laying siege to the Plumbthroat > Redneck > White. The Duttle illustrates their shared roots in the black tanglebuddy.

Your equation of "nonviolent = white" is one pathway into the gendering of races: blackness is the categorically masculinized sexual aggressor, whiteness the categorically feminized victim. Hence in Sburb's grand chess game, white is doomed to be "mated" (and thereby annihilated) by black, a sexual subtext made text by red/black Caliborn's Freudian slip wrt lime/white Calliope. On Alternia, themes of miscegenation are woven into troll sexuality. In Openbound, you can see that Porrim's feminism is implicitly anti-black, vilifying as it does Latula's black-coded speech affectations. Both can be regarded as manifestations of sexualized racial anxieties that the narrative adopts as a structuring device at various levels. I find the in-story depiction of Alternia as a corruption of utopian Beforus to be an act of misdirection -- as you note, neither planet has lime bloods.

Regarding Kankri's talk of... transhemicism? first I should say be wary of mapping blood strictly to race. That's definitely part of it, but it can also refer to transsexuality by way of Alternia/Beforus's gendering of race, or identification along an adult/child paradigm by way of Kankri's emphasis on age disparities between castes. This age paradigm CAN also feed back into gendered racism, since motherhood's been rendered categorically white, making childhood black by contrast -- GIRLS RULE AND BOYS DROOL, and all that. But it's good to maintain awareness of the distinct facets.

Regarding Feferi, her and Meenah's status as world matriarchs is inflected by the above. Following our first iteration of BLACK MATES WHITE with WV, we're treated to an exploding can of TAB, BROWN liquid erupting from the PINK can being an early seeding of the black-childhood and white-motherhood dichotomy, the fatal violence of the birth again underscoring anxieties of white genocide. The Peixies, being matriarchs, share their fuchsia blood color with TAB packaging... While there were some packs and families that believed in equality among the genders… The Huster family was not one of them. It didn’t alter his biology, but he did come to a conclusion that he was able to block his own scent and mimic that of an Alpha’s – thus making those that didn’t know him believe that he was an Alpha – and with this mixture of ingredients in mind, he left the only home he knew. He vowed that he would return one day, return when he could as a proud Alpha instead of the Omega that Mother Wolf had so wrongfully marked him as, and he began to bounce from village to village, meeting other wolves and testing out a variety of different concoctions to be able to permanently alter his biology – all the while collecting the ingredients he needed to continue to block his scent and present himself as an Alpha. And with his broad build, no one dared question him – he was an Alpha as far as anyone knew – and eventually, he heard tales of Athos. It was rumored to be a city where wolves could go to start anew, a chance for them to start their own lives, and he was quick to find the village.

What he did absolutely know for sure, though, was that he was going to have to find the ingredients necessary to continue to fool the wolves of Athos into thinking he was an Alpha – because, in his heart of hearts, he was one – and so he became a tradesmen. Not only did it allow him to use his knowledge of the lands to persuade merchants to trade with him, but it also allowed him a chance to search for the ingredients he needed to continue with his façade – while also searching for ways to, once and for all, correct Mother Wolf’s mistake. And though he has yet to find any way of altering his biology, he figured that if he couldn’t return home as an Alpha – he at least made a decent home here, in Athos, as one.
