Rachael Sage – Only You (Yazoo cover) Alt-pop songstress Rachael Sage delivers a poignant reinterpretation of the ’80s Yazoo classic “Only You” at just the right moment. With its timeless, hummable melody and updated arrangement complimenting Sage’s folky storytelling approach, this heartfelt track is as much revamp as a respectful homage to the beloved UK synth-pop original. “Only You” A special Valentine's Day cover released on February 10, 2016 by Vertical Arts Records. Original song by Yazoo.
Special Valentine's Day single promoting "Heartbeat" (Signature Edition) EP/mixtape released on February 14 exclusively on Pandora's Thieves website.
What Harry has to say: "After releasing the "Acoustic Covers" EP, I kept searching for more songs to cover. Some of them was two Yazoo tracks that I found on peahix's YouTube channel while I was searching for 80's synthpop hits. Some time later, after getting his approval to use it, I recorded the vocals using an AKG Perception 220 microphone but I wasn't satisfied with my performance. I felt that something's wasn't right, there wasn't that 80's sparkle in my voice and sound."
"In 2016, before the release of the 4-track Signature Edition of "Heartbeat" mixtape, I did a last minute change by removing a track that I felt it wasn't mixed well (an unreleased track called "Losing Game"). I didn't plan to replace it at first but a week prior the release, I rehearsed the cover song using my iMac's build-in mic and turned out really well, I guess the low quality helped making it sound pure and old. The same day I sent it to MonsterKID and we added it as the final track. I also thought releasing it as a special Valentine's Day single using a test shot from "Heartbeat" additional photo shoot to make the cover art. I should also mention that the Signature Edition was never released properly."

The Band - Music From Big Pink (1968) Canada
(Country/Folk Rock)
The Band already had years of experience behind them before their first album came out, and their story starts back in the early 60s.
They came together originally as the backing group for rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins, who was playing in Canada where he was very popular at the time.
One by one the future members of The Band joined his group, leading up to the lineup of Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel, Garth Hudson and Levon Helm.
Helm was a southerner from Arkansas, whilst the other four were all Canadians. They played with Hawkins for years (known then as The Hawks), but by 1964 had split with him, and they began touring by themselves.
In 1965 Bob Dylan invited them to play with him, and they backed him on his legendary '65/'66 tour which saw him transform from folkie to rock star (though Helm dropped out three months in and was replaced by Mickey Jones).
However in July '66 Dylan was injured in a motorcycle accident, and retired to semi-reclusion in Woodstock. He invited the Hawks to join him, where they recorded a much-bootlegged series of demos which were years later officially released as The Basement Tapes, and the seeds of their debut album were sown.
Without Dylan, and re-united with Helm, they began writing their own songs, and in 1968 their debut album Music From Big Pink was released, credited only to The Band and produced by John Simon. It was unlike anything ever heard in rock music at the time. The fact that it was released at the height of the psychedelic rock craze made it even more extraordinary.
Dylan offered to sing on the album, but ultimately realised it was important for the Band to make their own statement. Instead, Dylan signified his presence by contributing a cover painting. Barney Hoskyns has written that it is significant the painting depicts six musicians. The cover of Music From Big Pink was intended to establish the group as having a different outlook from the psychedelic culture of 1968.
Spurning all current trends, they re-connected with the roots of their music - folk, country, rhythm & blues and gospel, and forged a unique new sound. It fell in with what other American bands were doing at the time with country-rock, and is often referred to as a pioneering album in that genre, but the stylistic hot-pot of Music From Big Pink is much more than just a fusion of rock and country. This sound has retrospectively been labelled Americana or 'roots rock', but at the time it defied all classification and simply represented the sound of The Band.
Instrumentally, The Band were at the top of their league. Robbie Robertson was a highly talented guitarist, but on Music From Big Pink he reigned in the fire of his work with Hawkins and Dylan and instead played subtle, understated lines which supported the arrangements rather than dominated them.
The musical virtuosity of the group undoubtedly came from Garth Hudson, who played a Lowry organ (instead of the Hammond usually found in rock music) and a variety of other keyboard instruments with a creativity which effectively re-invented the idea of what a rock keyboardist could sound like. The use of a pianist and an organist together was highly unusual for rock music, the fact that the guitar was usually playing a supporting role to the keyboards even more so.
Both bassist Danko and drummer Helm had unique approaches to their instruments, giving the group a fantastic rhythm section to build on. Vocally they were also unique - they were used to backing frontmen, but Manuel, Helm and Danko all had brilliant and distinctive voices which complemented each other perfectly.
The result was that they had three lead vocalists to call on, or more often than not, three voices to join together in loose, almost chaotic harmonies.
The material on the album was mostly written by Robertson, Manuel and Dylan. The three Dylan compositions date back to the basement sessions, one co-written with Manuel and another with Danko. They also included a cover of the old country classic Long Black Veil. Defying trends further still, they opened the album with the slow, stately Tears Of Rage, which went against all perceived rules of album sequencing.
The most famous song on the album is Robertson's The Weight. Though it only reached a modest #63 in the US, it has managed to become one of the most well-known and beloved songs of the American counter-culture, helped no doubt by its inclusion in the film Easy Rider. Music From Big Pink was widely acclaimed upon its release, and is generally considered a highly influential and pivotal album in the history of rock music. The elements that made it so unique at its time are by themselves small and seemingly minor, but when they were all fused together, it was clear The Band were something special.
With a “how slow can you go?” tempo, the opener Tears of Rage is full of sorrow. A song about a relationship between parents and daughter which is sung by Manuel. His voice is so full of emotion while singing and I love it. A version of this song with Dylan on lead vocal and the Band backing him was included on The Basement Tapes. If many of you don’t already know, I’m not a big fan of Dylan’s voice so I love this version a lot. Next is Robertson’s To Kingdom Come which has a more upbeat sixties style music with harmonised vocals by Manuel and Robertson and a great bass by Danko. Manuel’s In a Station returns to the bluesy ballad with cheery keyboards. Song is sung by Manuel with Helm and Danko singing in the back. The harmonies are so orgasmic. The songwriting skills are impressive as well. “...Once I climbed up the face of a mountain and ate the wild fruit there. Fell asleep until the moonlight woke me and I could taste your hair...”  Written by Robertson and sung by Danko Caledonia Mission starts as a ballad but progresses to an interesting jazzy number with strong horns throughout. Interesting fact: Helm plays acoustic while Manuel plays the drums. Next is the most famous song on the album The Weight. A tune written again by Robertson and sung by Helm with Danko giving background vocals. An iconic music marker in the history of rock ‘n’ roll. I could listen to this song a thousand times and never get tired of it. Funky tune called We Can Talk follows. It’s a tune where Manuel, Helm, and Danko take turns on vocals. I love it. The lead guitar in the middle of the song is so ear pleasing. Cover of Marijohn Wilkin and Danny Dill’s Long Black Veil contains a fine acoustic guitar, low funky bass and a continuous electric piano with Danko on lead vocals. An excellent cover. Chest Fever starts with Hudson’s calm but catchy organ riff, topped by Manuel’s rock piano and Danko’s bass. Song written by Robertson and sung by the wonderful Manuel. I actually didn’t like this song at first but the more I listened to it, the more I grew to enjoy it. This also may be the closest to hard rock that they get on this album. A favourite of mine Lonesome Suzie is a ballad written and sung by Manuel. My favourite part is how Manuel sings softly while Hudson plays his soulful organ and Robertson gives off calm guitar licks. This Wheel’s on Fire is a good track co-written by Dylan and Danko. Sung by Danko. The thing I don’t like is the organ. It sounds too much like a video game... Dylan also composed my all time favourite I Shall Be Released which is the last track on the album. Led by Manuel’s haunting vocals above a gentle piano and acoustic, this is a real example for future power ballads. “With more connotations of redemption, the song stands as a classic ‘prison song’ ’’.
I’m not done yet! I will review the bonus tracks too.
Robertson’s Yazoo Street Scandal is the first bonus track. Contains some raw vocals given by Helm backed up by a neat bass and guitar solo in the middle. It’s a definite rhythm and blues tune. Another favourite is Katie’s Been Gone. A tune co-written by Robertson and Manuel. I actually thought Helm sang lead but it’s really Manuel. I absolutely love it for some reason when Manuel sings “...Katie’s been gone and now her face is slowly fading from my mind...” Cover of Stanley Brothers’ If I Lose is next. It’s a country folk tune sung by sweet Helm featuring some bubbly piano playing. Dylan’s Long Distance Operator is a classic blues tune! Includes some strong guitar playing and I even hear some harmonica. Manuel kills it on vocals here. Orange Juice Blues (Blues for Breakfast) is a song we can all relate to, am I right? Written and sung by Manuel, it only has the piano and I love it so much. A classic cover of Big Bill Broonzy’s Key To The Highway is next. We’ve heard many covers of this song whether it’s from Little Walter or Eric Clapton, we’ve heard it atleast once. This tune is sung by Helm and again, I thought it was Manuel. They have similar voices so sometimes it’s hard to tell who is who. Except for Danko. I definitely know when Danko is singing. Man, another favourite (too many favourites) is Ferdinand The Imposter. Unfortunately, the last song. It’s written by Robertson and sung by Danko. Usually in songs, the vocals are more louder than the instruments but in this one, the vocals are blended in at the same volume with the instruments and I think that’s what I love so much about it. It’s an incredible song.
Guys, I was so excited to write this review. This is one of my all time favourite albums. I think I have one song that I don’t like off this album and that’s This Wheel’s On Fire. Primarily because of the organ. If you only know of this band because of The Weight then please check out the entire album. They have better songs and you won’t be disappointed one bit. These guys were super talented and I’m so glad they were discovered.
*Bolded are my favourites off the album*
1. Tears of Rage 2. To Kingdom Come 3. In a Station 4. Caledonia Mission 5. The Weight 6. We Can Talk 7. Long Black Veil 8. Chest Fever 9. Lonesome Suzie 10. This Wheel's on Fire 11. I Shall Be Released
BONUS: 12. Yazoo Street Scandal 13. Katie's Been Gone 14. If I Lose 15. Long Distance Operator 16. Orange Juice Blues (Blues for Breakfast) 17. Key to the Highway 18. Ferdinand the Imposter

Here's How Selena Gomez Is Involved in 13 Reasons Why
Though she may not appear on screen, Selena Gomez has been a driving force behind Netflix's adaptation of 13 Reasons Why. The "Back to You" singer is an executive producer on the hit show and has referred to the series as a "passion project" ahead of its premiere in 2017. Last year Dylan Minnette, who stars as Clay Jensen on the show, recalled one of his fondest memories working with Gomez in season one, telling us: "She stayed with us the whole day on set and talked to everyone. She took us out to dinner and saw a movie with us, and we hung out with her. I don't think I can emphasize how generous she is and how genuinely she cares."
Related: Why the Semicolon Tattoo Is So Important to 13 Reasons Why
Now that season two has finally premiered, we can confirm that Gomez stays behind the camera. "A book is frightening for me because I know the cult following it has," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. "Which is the reason why I didn't want to be in it." In fact, it was her mother who brought the project to her back when it was still going to be adapted into a film. Despite not wanting to star, Gomez was so drawn to the material that she took on the project as an executive producer and helped get it made as a Netflix miniseries.
On top of supporting the cast and crew, Gomez contributed two songs to the soundtrack for the first season: a cover of Yazoo's 1982 track "Only You" and an acoustic version of "Kill Em With Kindness." She also penned a new song for season two's soundtrack, that comes into play during an important moment in the finale.
