(save share and comment are appreciated) Love spending time at creeks to find fossils, like shells in the beach.🐚🌊 My favorite place is the creek close to my hometown. Huge ammounts of our normal earth here is jura slate. (hardened mud from the jurassic period, when europe was ocean) I remember a field trip in pre-school to the next forrest, where a lot of other kids found belemnites (the bullet shaped fossils) everywhere in the creek. Nobody really knew what they where, so everyone assumed its dinosaur teeth! Funny thing is, baby-me didn't find even one single 'dinosaur tooth'. And I still remember so vividly that I wanted to find one too so bad! This was always somewhere in the back of my mind. For more than 20 years... And two years ago, I visited my favorite creek and suddenly found my first belemnite ever! ヾ(￣0￣ )ノ After this day, everytime I go to this creek I find one. Sometimes even 5 or 10 in one day! Its amazing that as soon as I found the first one by chance, the memory came back, and my eyes know exactly where and how to find them. I even found some really uncommon fossils!!!! 4 half-OPALIZED belemnites (see slides) and a tiny but completely intact GOLDEN ammonite! (ps the first two photos are actually not my main creek I'm always going to, but a beautiful place in slovenia. I figured that you'll see a lot of photos of my little home creek anyway. I'm even working on a painting of it! i actually slammed a bunch of em into wonder trade but i think i hatched like 200-300? i numbered them as they hatched but still never got a shiny either and lost interest in the game in the middle of it :/

PART ONE

Fossil doesn’t move much from her nest these days. How can she? Weighed down by five squirming cubs inside of her, she doubts she could move even if she wanted to. The scanners of Yellow Diamond’s Peridots indicated that there were five of them, and Fossil is glad for that. If it had been left up to her guessing, she would’ve placed that number higher. She simply feels so heavy, she hasn’t even been able to walk on all fours since about five months in. Her time has become restricted to the nest more and more, and Carnelian isn’t urging her to do otherwise. Instead, her normally stoic mate has become an anxious mother hen, fretting over her and flitting about, as if she’s worried that the slightest movement will send her into an early labor.

She can’t believe that she still has a week of this left. If it were up to her, Fossil would be begging for the medical gems to induce her already, as she feels her children are more than ready. However, the doctors don’t see it that way, and neither does Carnelian, who takes their advice readily and passes it on the best she can to Fossil. The hardest part of all of this has been how good of a mate Carnelian has been. Ever since they had come to love each other, Fossil knows this is something she doesn’t deserve. As much trouble as these gemlings have given her – all the nausea, headaches, hot flashes, bloating, weight gain, and backaches, and so much more – they’re all she’s ever truly wanted.

Fossil gives a little groan as one of the cubs shifts inside of her, triggering the rest of the cubs to move about as well.

“Oh, please, give Mama a rest,” she sighs, leaning her head against one of the soft pillows making up her nest. A few seconds later, the doors to Carnelian’s chamber – where she’s made her huge nest – opens. Fossil knows that can only mean one thing.

“Are you alright? I heard you from the other room and I –” Carnelian starts to say, striding across the room towards Fossil. She lifts her head a bit, propping herself up on her elbows as she struggles into a more comfortable position to address her mate with.

“I’m fine,” Fossil cuts her off, a bit irritated. “The cubs are moving around, that’s all. They’re pretty rowdy these days. Ready to come out.” She runs a hand over her swollen stomach, and Carnelian crouches down to do the same, stroking the side of Fossil’s belly.

“One more week,” Carnelian reminds her. “We have to make sure they’re really ready before they come out of there.”

“Mothers have given birth earlier than me, before, and they were just fine,” Fossil says. “At this stage, if they come now, I’m sure they’ll be alright.”

“We can’t take any chances,” Carnelian says, her voice taking on a gruff, authoritative tone. Fossil’s eyes flash for a moment, and she lays down a bit suggestively, a low purr starting to rumble from her throat. “No, Fossil, not this late. You know what the medical staff said.”

“I know what they said, and I know what I want,” Fossil purrs. “But if you’re not gonna be any fun, you can at least lay down in the nest with me.”

Carnelian can’t stop the look of surprise that crosses her face at that. Fossil rarely invites her in the nest, ever since it’s been built, it’s been her space and her space only (despite it being in Carnelian’s chambers). Still, the bigger gem doesn’t resist, and lies down awkwardly next to Fossil in the nest. She puts one arm over her swollen midsection, and the other nestled under her mate’s head. Fossil leans in to her mate’s body, her purr growing louder.

She supposes she doesn’t mind staying pregnant for a while longer, if it means she can steal moments like this with her mate.
