here is a preview of our plotline, or more accurately, the beginning lead into the first chapter of an ongoing novel ! a brief note that mourners does not follow the timeline of the show, but only considers the timeline of the books and more specifically, the six of crows duology, canon in terms of events which leads us into our continuation of the crows’ stories.

AT  FIFTH  HARBOUR,  the  lumber  splinters,  and  flames  lap  at  heels  like  a  hellbent  hound.  a  fjerdan  vessel  —  the  verglas  —  blazes  within  the  harbour;  its  ashen  tressed  captain  entombed  beneath  scorching  masts.  screams  garbled  by  smoke,  she  chokes  till  the  inferno  swallows  her  whole,  leaving  nothing  but  a  croaking  corpse  of  smoldering  bone  and  a  charred  warship,  once  a  colossal  leviathan  of  the  deep,  reduced  to  carbonized  remains  engulfed  by  brackish  canals.

DEEP  WITHIN  THE  BARREL,  crows  swarm  the  slat:  heist  gone  awry,  sworn  kruge  incinerated,  fjerdan  envoy  caught  in  the  crossfire.  a  legion  of  dark  eyes  narrow,  their  visions  of  greed  fragmented  by  an  unpolished  grisha.  the  tap  of  a  cane  on  dilapidated  staircase,  and  seething  attention  ascends  to  judge,  jury,  executioner.  the  foreign  inferni  peers  through  shadows,  where  a  suited  figure  contemplates  their  demise.  now,  a  voice  rasps,  what  are  we  to  do  with  you  ?

ACROSS  THE  TRUE  SEA,  a  father  slits  open  a  letter  —  forefinger  nicked  by  the  blade  —  to  startle  'pon  his  daughter's  death.  in  kerch,  it  reads,  in  ketterdam.  ferocity  scrutinizes  weather  worn  parchment,  its  corners  curled  by  saline  seas,  her  body  is  lost  to  the  merchant  harbour.  the  ambassador's  sight  scours  onward,  the  dull  ache  of  his  mourning  heart  beating  to  a  dreadful  rhythm.  surviving  crew  saw  a  man  near  the  fire  .  .  .  .  they  say  the  barrel  calls  him  dirtyhands  .  .  .  he  has  a  crew  .  .  the  dregs.  tattered  fibers  crumple  inside  a  stark  knuckled  grasp,  and  wolves  howl  in  the  dead  of  night.

AT  DAWN  IN  FJERDA,  henrik  von  der  leyen  performs  his  daughter's  —  eira  von  der  leyen  —  last  rites  to  djel,  burying  senseless  remnants  below  an  ash  tree,  and  sails  for  ketterdam.

set  seven  years  post  crooked  kingdom,  a  fjerdan  ambassador  posing  as  foreign  mercher  called  henrik  von  der  leyen  ventures  to  ketterdam,  preparing  to  stake  a  claim  upon  the  barrel  post  the  death  of  eira  von  der  leyen,  his  beloved  daughter  and  fjerdan  envoy.  believing  the  dregs  to  be  responsible  due  to  a  coinciding  heist,  he  sets  out  to  see  to  their  ruin,  all  the  while  the  death  truly  being  caused  by  an  inferni  briefly  imprisoned  aboard  the  verglas.  little  do  the  crows  know,  this  is  just  the  beginning  of  several  troubling  chapters.

MOURNERS  will  be  heavily  driven  by  its  characters,  their  choices,  and  member  participation.  utilizing  chapters  with  corresponding  events  to  progress  the  roleplay's  story  and  character  development,  mourners  will  also  at  times  be  using  a  dungeons  and  dragons  like  roll  style  to  aid  in  the  outcomes  of  certain  events  as  well  as  decide  a  character's  fate.

Hey, so I guess this is a bit about me. I put some basic info up top but here I’ll get a bit more in-depth. I try to be an open book. I have multiple disorders which I’ll list, keep these in mind if you decide to chat with me. I have ADHD, Agoraphobia, Anxiety (Social and Generalized), Borderline Personality Disorder, Delusion Disorder, DID, Insomnia, OCD, PTSD, and Nightmare Disorder. Due to this I struggle with paranoia sometimes and am not only kin but some are also IRLs and I have Alters due to the delusion disorder and DID. Anyways that enough of that information.

Playable Etherealki subsets include Sun Summoning and Shadow Summoning. However, this ability must be acquired via our site store. Acceptance of characters with these abilities requires consistent activity. Each writer is limited to only one character with this rare ability.

The Shadow Fold exists. It was not created The Black Heretic as such a person never existed in this universe. However, it was formed through Merzost.

The Universe stands in balance. With the emergence of Shadow Summoners came their counterparts: Sun Summoners. More about the first pair of Sun and Shadow Summoners can be learned about in our site lore.

Due to the site having a 3/3/3 rating, we have elected to limit the age of playable characters currently studying at the Little Palace. Though Grisha begin their studies in Os Alta in adolescence (most before the age of 8), no minor characters will be accepted. The youngest age for any playable character is 18.

FIVE. Face claims are required for each character.

Celebrities who have requested to not be used for roleplaying will not be accepted. We ask all members to not use an individual has been accused of predatory or abusive behavior. Staff reserves the right to reject any face deem inappropriate.

18+ Face claims must be over 18 years old. No underaged faces are permitted.

+/-5 Your chosen face must be no more than five years older or younger than your character.

We require a face claim that is a living actor, signed model, or musician.

For example, if your character is 23, their face must be between 18 and 28 years old. If your character is 18, their face must be between 18 and 23. Current age of the celebrity is used in this evaluation.

SIX. Diversity is a core tenet of Grisha Steel.

We heavily encourage diversity on site. However, there are specific countries within the universe that if your character is from there, we ask that you be mindful of regional demographics as outlined below:

Shu Han natives are encouraged to be portrayed by faces of Asian descent. We have elected that the Northern portion of Shu Han is Mongollian, the Central portion Chinese, and the Southern portion Japanese. The Western Coast aligned with Filipino culture, and the Eastern Coast is Korean.

Noyvi Zem natives are encouraged to be portrayed by faces of African or Middle Eastern descent. On Grisha Steel, the lower half of Noyvi Zem is predominantly Turkish, Iranian, Pakistani, and, at the most Northern tip located closer to the Southern Colonies, Israeli. The upper half of Noyvi Zem predominantly draws from Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, and Mali.

Natives of the Southern Colonies should be portrayed by Latinx faces. While this region is not touched on in any currently published books, it is seen on the maps. We have chosen to model this region after Latin American countries, such as Argentina, Chile, and Brazil.

The Suli people are described in the universe as being similar to the Romani people, with influences from South Asia. Predominantly, we ask that you use faces of Romani, or Indian descent for these characters.

SEVEN. Character creation limits.

Your first three characters are free. However, from there, we ask that you have at minimum 20 posts on each account prior to the creation of additional characters. Writers are permitted five characters, but may buy more characters slots via the site store. This limit has been instated to encouraged a focus on character development.

EIGHT. Activity requirements and checks.

Character activity will be checked at the end of each month. This will be done automatically without any additional action required by writers. If you miss posting in character for the entire month, you will be messaged on site and via Discord by a staff prompting you to post within two weeks of receiving that message. If you fail to post two weeks after receiving an activity message and are not on an absence we will automatically archive your character and release associated claims.

We hold 2 major activity checks per year in March and September. During this time, we will require you update your character profiles to reflect development since their creation or the last activity check. Regular profile updates are encouraged to make this easier on writers!

NINE. Graphics

When completely a character profile, three images are required. Sizes are outlined below.We will be providing two sets of sizes, one larger, and one true to size. We recommend going larger, as some people have larger optics.

Avatar: Minimum 220x500, Recommended 440x1000

Square Aesthetic Images: Minimum 100x100, Recommended 250+x250+

TEN. Non-Grisha Characters

Non-grisha characters are permitted. These characters may be anything from First Army, to Drüskelle, to gangsters in Ketterdam and more. Please remain mindful of the Grisha-verse and site canon for these characters in building their backstories. The Shu Han have queens. Fjerdans worship Djel and other gods that are distinct and different than those worshipped in Ravka.

My Hero Academia Chapter 235 Review

Ah, yes. It’s time for an origin story. Time like this tends to be good for this series or any other ones. Shigaraki has finally remembered his past. In the midst of the battle, we take a closer look into his origin; where his days decay into chaos. I have to admit, my head grew three times when I can say, “Called it.” Essentially, it’s everything that I predicted, though likely everyone else predicted the same. Regardless, it didn’t hinder a solid backstory.

Before the main course, the present time chaos has stirred up a notch, thanks to Gigantomachia. Honestly, I have grown tired. It’s disappointing how Redestro is resorted to exposition and more sadly, a fodder. It’s becoming clearer with his explanation on how amazing it was for Shigaraki to counter the last time. Sure, it’s good to understand exactly how and why, but the fact he has to say like, “I trained this quirk since childhood. It became so powerful. But this man, he takes it down in a matter of a second. Incredible…,” it’s done to boost the credibility.

If Shigaraki or any League member loses in their next battle against the main cast, I’ll probably flip and laugh uncontrollably. After all, this arc was solely made to make them as credible threats. Even so, it’s disappointing that Redestro has an interesting concept to unlock, but judging by this chapter, he’s doomed to push others strong; like a talented wrestler pushing a bodybuilder in wrestling promotion as a superstar. He’s not even paying attention anymore, because stress got to him I guess. Shigaraki maintains his belief: destruction to all. Fortunately, the chapter shifts to the origin story. Funny, in movies, origin story is the weakest link, but in manga, it’s the strongest.

The backstory has the combination of all the bits and pieces from the previous chapters, now narrated in third-person. Although they lined up, it’s exactly how I imagined. Of course, there’s more to the story as it makes everything clear; aside from one part, but we’ll get to it later. The story can be summarized to one line: rules damaged the innocent. It’s all thanks to Shigaraki’s father, Kotaro. The fathers in this series sure are the killing factor.

In my last review, I didn’t think he was abusive, but very restrictive. I was wrong in a sense, but he’s not the worst; at least, the way how the story tries to rebound, but more on it later. He became stricter with Shigaraki, or Tendo as he was originally called, because he’s five and has yet to acquire a quirk. He wanted to teach him the hard lesson that heroism can only lead to misfortunate. In short, heroes are bad.

While his father was a douche because of strict policy, the rest of the family weren’t bad. The mother took care of him well, even after he was punished. It’s somewhat noteworthy that during Tendo’s playtime with friends, they roleplayed as heroes and he was chosen to play as All Might because he was nice to them. You can see where this was going, irony and all. All he wanted was to become a hero, but his father won’t let him, and his mother can’t explain the truth.

I do like the narration on how Tendo’s life was denied by his father’s domain. It’s a shameful way of life that hardly result to pure, unless robotic is your definition. Although his mother and grandparents were nice, they can’t help his dream because of father. It sounds like a tyranny story, but the ending hints a “safer” approach, even though the upcoming moment will show the fatal result. The backstory retells Hana’s scene where she shows him the picture of Nana as a hero. The additional scene covers the moment where she brought him hope and share a secret together to one day, become a hero together. She’s a nice sister, but the real purpose behind the moment will become apparent very soon.

As hopeful he was, his quirk was beginning to activate unintentionally. Now, this moment feels a bit shady. I understand a quirk can appear at any time. However, part of me thinks he was granted with this particular quirk that can conveniently wipe out a person instantly, controlled or not. What I’m trying to say is, maybe All for One have passed that quirk down to him. Maybe Tendo didn’t have one until now, out of nowhere.

All for One does have a connection with the family, even if it’s solely on Nana. In fact, since All Might exist already at that time, this would be a perfect chance to mock him by using the grandson as a newborn villain. He was the only one that was suffering miserably, so why not manipulate the scene. That way, Shigaraki can’t know if he did kill them by his own intention. With all that said, that would be lame, because Obito 2.0, here we come. Personally, it’s best that Shigaraki did it because he really wants to. It can be the case, but we have to wait and see where this leads to.

The punishment scene is upsetting. Once Kotaro found out about the office and the picture, he was so damn furious. There are two parts that upset me. The first one is Hana. She got in trouble, but minimized the damage by placing the fault to Tendo. That’s rather messed up, but knowing the circumstance, I can’t hate her for doing so. It’s not like she smiled sadistically during the punishment. Disappointed, yes, but fear can rule anyone. The second part is saddening because everyone was helpless; only able to watch the kid suffer. Kotaro was the tyrant of the family and all Tendo can do was cry for help. That’s just sad.

The following scene is a bit complex, mainly due to how Kohei tries to minimize the damage; give a small room of greyness or something. Case in point, Kotaro. During the punishment, he yelled at Tendo about Nana being a terrible woman. Now that would have been awful and downright disturbing, but it’s watered down when he read the last letters from his mother. To summarize, she was sorry for not being there for Kotaro, but she will always love him; wished him the best. It was a nice, sad moment; though serving as a reason to make Kotaro as not much of a bad person is a bit sketchy.

I suppose it is setting up for a sadder moment when Shigaraki kills them, but I thought it was fine before. This sort of development begs for a much larger screen time with him, similar to Grisha from Attack on Titan. It opened up for plenty of room to understand the character as well as carefully used for intent purposes. We were immediately introduced to him as a scumbag, so I don’t think it warranted him as somewhat mistaken. I get that it elaborated the reason for his strictness, but for a short backstory, it didn’t need to have it. Although he probably wanted to fix it, the damage is done. Tendo now hates everyone. Shame that others don’t deserve the hate.

Despite the backstory being predictable, including how Kotaro was affected by his mother’s death, I thought this was a solid chapter. It’s good to learn more about Shigaraki, the main villain. Now, you can argue it’s weak to have an edgelord as the main villain, because of familiar past, but at least it was nicely told. With its well-presented tone and disheartening scenes that reflect real life issues, it was captivating. It’s clear that he is the what-if Deku didn’t get any influence on heroism. Maybe we will get parallels soon. That will make Kishimoto so proud. The last thing we need is redemption. Otherwise, the coolest guy ever 2.0, here we come!
