I have so many thoughts so I’m putting them under the cut
Ok so thoughts about Fear Entity alignments for Deltarune characters!
Kris, to me, was one of the more obvious. Being the only human in town makes them a very distinct other from everyone around them, despite their attempts to blend in with their family. They’re also regularly referred to as creepy and “the class zombie” by their peers. All very Stranger-esque. They are also very clearly a victim of The Web via the Soul/Player, that’s just a no-brainer.
Susie is another easy one, she’s a Slaughter avatar if I’ve ever seen one. She lashes out with violence at the slightest hint of adversity, and only decided that non-violent solutions could sometimes be of use after almost killing one of her first real friends. And even after that she’s still always ready to bash skulls at any time.
Ralsei was an interesting one. His alignment doesn’t actually have much to do with his own fear, nor any fear he inflicts on others. But instead is a reflection of Darkners as a whole. All Darkners, as beings essentially born from darkness, are Dark aligned by default. As the Prince of the Dark, Ralsei embodies this.
Berdly as a Vast avatar is perhaps a bit more of a reach than the others, and it could be argued that he’s just as much a victim as he is an avatar. For me it comes in two parts. The first and simpler is that he’s a bird. Birds fly in the sky. The Vast deals with sky based stuff. The second is the more existential part of The Vast. Berdly struggles with being seen as unintelligent, unexceptional, insignificant. And the way he deals with this Fear is to project it onto others, belittling them and making them feel insignificant in comparison to him.
Noelle’s alignment changes based on the route. In the regular route she’s a shoo-in for The Lonely, being a quiet doormat who bends to others wills without actually being an active member. In the Snowgrave route, she fills the role of Desolation avatar quite nicely, destroying everything in her path, leaving nothing untouched by her ice. (She’s also clearly a victim of The Web in both routes, by Queen and Kris/the Soul respectively.)
Jevil is another simple one, what with the themes of chaos, madness, and unreality. Spiral avatar all the way.
I stared at Spamton for like an hour trying to figure out what to do with him. I gave up. Avatar of Capitalism ig.

writing the ferris wheel scene for this and i think the part where they're still in noelle rooms would go :
Susie : Wow!! Cool room!!
Noelle : ... is it really, Susie?
Susie : I mean... it has a nice bed and a window with a cool view!
Noelle : You know what else has those things?
Noelle : A jail cell.
Noelle : Or more accurately : a dungeon.
Noelle : A jail cell slash dungeon has those things, Susie.
Noelle : And do you know who is put in jail cells slash dungeons?
Noelle : Prisoners, Susie.
Noelle : Or more accurately : People who have been kidnapped.
Susie :
Susie : Ok... sure...
Susie : But!!!
Susie :
Susie :
Susie :
Susie : Hey!! We should!! Go!! Let's!! Get out of here!! ... yeah!!!

EVIL Susie
aka my take on an opposite susie
Tumblr media
[ID: A drawing of a girl with two bangs that frame her face in an 'm' shape. She has a cheeky expression. Her hair has many cutesy pins and clips. Her shirt has a broken heart symbol where Susie's gold heart usually is. Beside her, text reads "(caps) EVIL (normal) Susie", and more text on the opposite side continues: - couldn't give a rat's ass about her brother - acts super sweet but has (caps) NO ONE's (normal) best interests at heart - straightforward feelings about her parents - (caps) GAMING STREAMER (normal) maybe. /end ID]
my EVIL Susie (also Suzy) is a scheming, outwardly-nice girl with smotheringly rich parents and a winter-loving brother who she despises (and who despises her in turn!)
She puts on an act of kindness and enthusiasm when she's around people, and makes a point of talking condescendingly-sweetly to her baby brother whenever he asks anything of her. She lets him do whatever he wants because she has very little concern for his well-being, knowing their parents will be able to handle him.
She streams video games online and has a deep love for angels and angelic imagery.
If she didn't also have Reina as a va I'd imagine she'd sound like Shelbeanie's Anti-Mabel from this dub of Don't Dimension It.

i actually don't understand the people who interpret Ralsei's in-game dialogue and actions as explicitly romantic towards any of the characters, he acts strangely around Kris and Susie but like i'm pretty sure he doesnt like. know how to be a person? he is kind of strange?
aside from his like whole 'serving Lightners' thing and intentionally trying to give control over things to Kris/The Player(and acting weirdly when Susie actively makes her own decisions when the player is prompted, like in the SCC battle when Susie decides that other party members have actions outside of Kris's menu and Ralsei literally apologizes for doing an action in battle he wasn't instructed to by Kris/The Player like. he IS weird about it)
he just seems really unsure and not how to like. act around peopl.e. or be friends. or really be ANYBODY aside from whats expected from him because he wasliterally born all alone in a cardboard box and wasnt around literally anyone else for an extended period of time obviously he doesnt know how to act normal

there's something about people drawing/headcanoning that susie would wear the dress in a suselle wedding/prom scenario that just rubs me the wrong way... i understand the popular appeal of putting the masc character in a dress and the fem character in a suit for aesthetic purposes or to shake up expectations and stuff- i've been known to indulge in that trope myself- but in this case it's just a little weird to me to put a canonically butch girl in a dress when she's exclusively shown in andro/outright masculine outfits throughout the game AND expresses discomfort at the prospect of feminine stuff like wearing a ribbon in her hair. it'd be fine for me if not for the ribbon thing implying she doesn't really like feminine stuff- although i think really, some characters, like susie, are just butch, and they wear suits for special occasions, and that's a beautiful thing, and we don't need to put every masc girl we see in a dress

MINI THEORY: The Colorful Core, pt 2
(Part 1 here)
Something I forgot to add to my CMYK CORE stuff: the presence of some unconventional color bars!
When investigating Papyrus and Sans' house, their TV will display the following.
Tumblr media
It seems to be a mock-up of a test card, displayed while Mettaton is off air. And the closest match I can find is specifically EBU color bars.
According to Wikipedia,
"The EBU colour bars is a television test card used to check if a video signal has been altered by recording or transmission, and what adjustments must be made to bring it back to specification. It is also used for setting a television monitor or receiver to reproduce chrominance and luminance information correctly."
There's just one problem. A normal EBU pattern looks like this:
Tumblr media
A real EBU pattern: white, yellow, cyan, green, magenta, red, blue, black.
Undertale's pattern: magenta, green, yellow, cyan, white, black, and half a bar of red. No blue.
This seems a little odd. There's no reason for Toby and Temmie to go out of their way to rearrange something so minor that it would have been easier and faster to copy the real pattern for.
I'd say maybe they just threw some colors on a sprite without checking for accuracy, except that the CORE already has minor sprites deliberately referencing CMYK - another set of colors related to chrominance and luminance, and placed in one of the most mysterious and unexplained areas in the game. So this would all seem to be intentional.
So what could it all mean?
I think the most obvious changes, aside from the shuffling of colors, is the absence of blue and half-presence of red. What this is for is a mystery.
If we go along with my theory that Ralsei is part of a trio with a red and blue character, this could have some implications for them: the blue character is maybe absent or doomed in some way, while the red character is...halved? Divided or reflected, like the alluded Deltarune themes? Or does it mean something else entirely?
I have no idea what the color shuffling could mean, although it does place Deltarune's main character colors all together: Susie, Ralsei, Noelle, and Kris. Otherwise, I can't make heads or tails of it yet.
All I know is that these color models and test cards seem to be hinting at something, and I hope to see their mysteries revealed in the future.
