so i did s little bit of surface-level searching about the Orespawn mod because i was curious what people meant when they were talking about how awful the developer of this mod is.

as bad as i was expecting, the reality is so much worse. this video has an audio clip from the developer's youtube channel, and holy fucking shit.

TRIGGER WARNINGS: white supremacy, racism, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, probably some antisemitism too. i couldn't finish the clip. just listening to the first few sentences made me feel physically ill. this man is a neo-nazi, without question. holy shit, it's so bad.

You know the Minecraft mod OreSpawn?

For Valentine’s Day of 2015 (holy shit, that was seven years ago!), the Girlfriends in the mod became giant and hostile. Their only weakness was the Rose Sword. They dropped edible hearts named Love.

Here are the effects they give you, which were kept secret in a review of it I saw.

I don’t think Fire Resistance of Level 2 or higher benefits you more than Level 1 because Level 1 is more like temporary immunity to fire and lava.

I assume all of these last for five minutes.

I love learning about old popular mc mods that fell out of popularity and development cause there's four possibilities:

The mod became obsolete because they just added the features to the game

The mod developer stopped development or it slowed down because the developer had irl stuff and just never picked it back up

The mod developer stopped development or it slowed down because the developer got hired by mojang

Whatever the fuck happened to the orespawn dev

See the thing is I acknowledge that Orespawn's developer (or at least whoever currently "owns" it) is shitty and stuff, but honestly I think we kinda need a new mod to fill that niche, like just. Throwing random ideas at a wall regardless of if they stick, but also making them actually work.

Like sure, put a Godzilla expy in your mod, and allow the player to become ungodly powerful, and also put in a boy/girlfriend NPC that can be toggled in the files and attacks by throwing stuff, and also have giant ant mechas and chainsaws that chop down entire trees and Irukandji jellyfish and zoos and etc. etc. etc.

But also like. Without eventually having weird conspiracy BS shoehorned into it.

so I work in a retail store, yeah? and we have an in-store music playlist. it contains both Viva la Vida by Coldplay and I’ve Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas. There are Minecraft parodies of both of these- you get where I’m going now, yes?

Every time they come on, my brain starts automatically replacing bits of the song with Fallen Kingdom and I Am Believing, respectively. So I end up quietly singing along with some of the lyrics, but the parody versions. I live in fear of singing too loud and someone hearing me singing MC parodies at work lmao

I expect y’all have probably all heard Fallen Kingdom, but I’m also quite fond of I Am Believing, which y’all might not know of. It’s very much based on Crazycraft, with Orespawn and the Mutant Creatures mods notably appearing in the video.

It's a little insane to me with how many mods are in every version of CrazyCraft how much of it at the end of the day is just the OreSpawn mod.

I still don't. I use bedrock edition on my iPad and when I try to find stuff for the popular mods like orespawn everything looks super shady (by that I mean it looks like stuff made to trick and scam kids) and I'm too afraid to touch anything

This is no ordinary Zombie. It's from the mod "Hostile Worlds".

Why did I take a screenshot of it? Because it was buffed by Infernal Mobs. In that mod, one in ten mobs becomes an Elite (which its health bar calls "Rare"), one in five Elites becomes an Ultra, and one in three Ultras becomes an Infernal. Only Elites are considered for Ultra rolls and only Ultras are considered for Infernal rolls.

While at least Elites have varying buffs (though the minimum is two because they need a prefix and suffix), I haven't encountered enough Ultras or Infernals to know for sure. All three levels do have higher hit points than normal mobs of their kind, though.

I used a ZooKeeper Shard from OreSpawn on this to prevent it from despawning, but its chainmail helmet that was protecting it from sunlight eventually broke (since zombies and skeletons wearing helmets to survive sunlight wear down their durability as they spend time in the Sun) and its regeneration (one of the buffs) couldn't keep up with the damage from burning in the sunlight.

I'm finally doing another Minecraft Let's Play! It's in 1.7 (which is almost a decade old) because Orespawn is one of my all-time favorite mods and it's only for 1.7. The overall goal of the series is of course going to be defeating the Queen, the toughest mob in Orespawn, but in order to pace myself I'm not going to go into any of the Orespawn dimensions until I beat the Ender Dragon. I'm also going to try and actually make some good builds instead of just living in a cave like I usually do.

I really hope you guys enjoy this series! I'll be uploading at least once a week at noon Mountain Time, but I don't know exactly what day of the week it will be.

posted this pretty much everywhere else but tumblr methinks has a better "algorithm" or whatever but

hello tumblr people i have been working on a 1.19 minecraft mod that is intended to invoke the feelings of older ~1.7 and below era mods with a modern twist or reimagining of mechanics

for example : spider ranching

an easier to understand version of forestry's bee farming, where you get tiny little spiders and they spin string in a new block, the spider nest

on top of that, it also contains a handful of references to content that arent old mods, since that was also actually a pretty big thing in mods back in the day (think orespawn's nightmare, the portal gun mod, etc) such as

the medamaude effect from yume nikki

nepeta leijon's action claws from homestuck (image shows it in off-hand , this is because it equips one if its in your main hand , dont actually put it in your offhand there's a bug that deletes it)

tougher times from risk of rain 2

the mod is currently very early on, but i believe you might be pleasantly surprised with it as time goes on !

also it would mean a lot if you gave feedback and stuff
