school day meal plan! 📚☕️
[ok i know this is a little foolish because it’s literally june 1st but my lacrosse season ended which i relied on a lot to burn off cals so now i have to REALLY watch what i’m eating & unfortunately i am a binger so i need to set a plan]
// end of sports season edition:
—breakfast • choose between:
✰ iced coffee: 0-40 cals (i go for either black or if i have the money, my simple dunkin order is a cold brew w/ almond milk + 1 splenda + 1 shot of vanilla which is around 50 cals)
✰ fruit bowl: 50-70 cals
dunkin refresher w/ green tea: 130 cals (bomb for a medium imo)
chia seed pudding (little to no toppings): 100 cals
✰ celsius: 10 cals
—lunch • ✰ ✰ ✰
[i have block scheduling so i have a 25 min free period in between my hour long classes so i usually eat about 2 cups of AIR-POPPED/ORGANIC popcorn, which is ab 70 cals yet rlly satisfying, and then skip lunch or eat little bits of my friends’ food]
diet coke: 0 cals (if i’m feeling snacky)
—after school snack • choose ONE:
✰ peppermint tea: 0 cals
tomato & basil rice cake: 50 cals
gum: 0-5 cals
popcorn: 60-70 cals
~DO NOT FALL INTO TEMPTATION AND HAVE SOMETHING YOU KNOW YOU SHOULDN’T~
—dinner •
~keep it simple, go for what you know is better for you, and if you’re forced to eat something, make the portion SMALL or come up with a really good excuse on why it revolts you~
—dessert • choose between: (NOT ALWAYS)
cookie dough coconut milk ice cream: 190 cals (1/2cup)
yasso bar: 80-100 (FAVS)
fruit w/ yogurt: about 100 cals
★ ★ ★ if you have had under 400 net cals by the end of dinner, you may have dessert. otherwise, no, not by freewill at least.
:I’m literally just making these for myself so i remember but i hate spreading my disordered thoughts with yall 😭 i only want the best for everyone else, i’m okay with suffering lolll

Collage Feels Pt.3
It’s the week after the party and you and Connie have been texting for a minute, both liking when the other text first, but of course Connie texted first. At this moment, you were getting ready for Connie to come over to your dorm so he could help you with one of your stupid class assignments 😟.
Right now you’re in the shower and you hear your phone buzz…it’s from Connie. “Hey I’ll be there in 5” the text said, you replied with a simple “ok, I’m so excited” and finished your shower. You got out and put on an oversized shirt, your silk black bonnet and some short shorts. You touched up in the mirror, applying one more coat of lipgloss and a spray of strawberry pound cake perfume and just then you heard a Knock at your door. “He’s mf’n here” you said in your head nervously.
You open the door and GAH DAMN Connie was looking so mf’n fine 😫. He was wearing a black under armour compression shirt with gray sweatpants, black cats, an iced out Cuban link chain, and you could see the waist band of his underwear and you could see his print. (And y’all that dick was dickin 😫) You were staring hard and he caught onto this, “you see sum you like ma” he says in a flirtatious tone “nigga get in here” you say in a sarcastic tone.
“Your dorm is nice asf, and it smells like vanilla in here” he says admirably. “Thank you hun, I like keeping a clean space, making sure my shit is mf’n organized cause don’t nobody want a nasty ass bitch” I said with confidence. “Nah cause you’re right about that shit” Connie said laughing as he put his Luis Vitton bag down on the floor. “Sophia what you need help on ma” he said in his deep voice, “I can’t figure out the formula for this equation” I show Connie the problems. “Yeh we’re gonna be here for a mf’n while” Connie says defeated.
It’s been 2 hours and you finally finished your work and you actually get what’s going on. “I should prolly go, ik you got other things you gotta do so imma get out of your hair” Connie said “Nah nigga you ain’t going nowhere. I did not just call you over to help me with my work. We finna order takeout and watch Baddies tf” you said pissed off that this mf was thinking you just wanted him for help and that’s it.
“Deadass, like fr?!” Connie says surprised, “Yes Connie I’m not that typa girl who’s just gon use you for her benefit, know that” this makes Connie smile to himself, he’s never met any girl who doesn’t just want to use him for his smarts, or who doesn’t want to fuck him, your different. “What you wanna eat ma?” Connie ask and you say “Def Chinese, I want orange chicken and white rice” “aight I’ll put the order in” Connie says “I’ll go get my ca-“ your cut off when Connie says “fuck no, sit yo pretty ass down somewhere, I’m paying ma” this makes you feel hot and bothered, this more dominant side of him, the sexy side of him…. “ o-ok” you stutter out shook.
It was a few hours later and y’all were watching baddies, and Connie was being real cuddly, not only that but he was being a lil…..touchy. “Please ma just come here, I wanna hold you, I promise I’ll take you out just come here” in your head your so nervous to make a move, but you a bad bitch so you do your big one. “Fine Constance” you take the blanket off of you and instead of cuddling up to him, you do something unexpected to Connie, you climb on his lap, wrap your arms around his neck, and you sat there, looking into his hazel eyes. You notice a slight pink dusted over his cheeks. “I ain’t even gon lie, your to fine for me to leave you without making you mine” Connie said quietly “you gon treat me right baby?” You said in a serious tone, “I promise ma, I promise” Connie says sincerely “ok pa, I’ll give you a chance”
Yall the next part gon be a lil bit of smutt 😫

3DOLC + ROE + 12 hr Movement Challenge (Birthday Edition!) - Results!!
Yesterday I finished my challenge because it was actually my birthday. So here are the results!
❥ Purple things of my favorite purple characters! (Kuromi, Gengar...)
I haven't receive anything yet, the problem of my birthday being on a Tuesday is that most of my friends couldn't hang out. Still, my Mom told me she was getting me a Kuromi silk pajama and I'm getting several Gengar things soon apparently. My best friend is really bad at hiding secrets.
❥ A Kinder Bueno birthday cake! and pizza, especially fancy true Italian one, heck I want a feast for my birthday!
I didn't get a Kinder Bueno birthday cake, but I got a HUGE black forest birthday cake decorated with the acrylic stand of one of my favorite Vtubers. Didn't get pizza yesterday but I did get fancy sushi. Still, I'm getting FOUR other birthday celebrations besides the one yesterday and one of them include pizza. I did get a feast though, I will explain down below.
❥ Any gift from any of my favorite fandoms (which is difficult)
Same as above, because most of my friends couldn't hang out, I won't receive most of my birthday gifts til the weekend or even further since apparently some of my gifts are imported.
❥ New Joy-cons
I will have them next week but one of my friends actually did gift me Gengar joycons, but I won't receive them until I see them. They told me that they got them for me just in case I was getting them.
❥ Spending my birthday with my favorite friends
This was the most unexpected parts. One, like I mentioned above, my friends organized several birthday celebrations for me according to their schedules. Two, actually I had a surprise birthday party at one of the branches of my job where they closed up a whole arcade just to celebrate my birthday. There was a huge black forest gateau cake, lots of food and people could play games while also chat. It was a really nice birthday but it was really unexpected and I admit I was really tired to enjoy it as the party progressed lol.
❥ Free beauty treatments
Got a haircut and a beauty treatment for free. I also got a masterclass for skincare with rice and wow, my skin is glowing!
❥ SP (lol, come on baby, be my gift)
This has to be the one of the things that didn't happen for some reason, didn't even get a greeting. It is a bit discouraging and I admit I got a bit upset for a moment, but it's fine. At least this makes me not focus on him but at the same time, it opened a huge can of worms among the people that know him and I have to clear the air a little. Not giving up, a bit heartbroken tho. I guess I can use this as the thing I choose for @starbursts777's challenge tho!
Still, like I mentioned before, I manifested my brother apologizing to me after 3 years of "no contact" on my part. Which this should show me that I am powerful.
❥ Improvement on my desired appearance (Birthday glow up!)
My reverse aging and weight loss is doing well! Plus, my skin is so snow white, I barely have any blemishes and my dark circles are fading! In fact, my eyes look so big and amazing, I look like a doll!
❥ Money, why not?
Just got a little money, but hey, didn't specify an amount!
❥ A trip somewhere???
Most shocking result as well but I got invited to go to Paris with all costs covered. I just don't know IF I CAN ACCEPT YET because it's in a fixed date so I have to discuss this with work for days off.
BUT HEY! I got the trip!
Tumblr media
I got everything I wanted except the SP part, I think that I will give it a try and use this as the topic for the "7 Days Miracle Maker Challenge" that my friend @starbursts777 is hosting.
I'll rest a little from yesterday's party and then do my post for the challenge plus write down everything.
Thank you so much for looking forward to the results!

Getting Started
Clear the decks. Take everything out of your pantry, give it a hard look and decide what you can get rid of. Be ruthless. If you haven’t used it in a year, get rid of it.
Keep what looks and smells good. “Expiration,” “sell by,” and “best by” dates are not good guidelines. Some are determined by regulators, others by manufacturers, and almost all are arbitrary. Properly stored, some (unopened) ingredients, like canned fish, can last for years; others, like dried herbs, start declining in quality the moment they are sealed in a container.
Assess what remains. Then organize it according to the logic that makes sense to you: There’s no single best system. Your nut butters might be with the condiments, or the breakfast items, or the baking supplies.
Fill in the blanks with food that will make you a better cook. Each of the pantry lists below is a proposal, not a prescription. There’s no reason to stock black beans if you only like red. There’s no need to have everything here available at all times. You’ll know your pantry is well stocked for your purposes when most of the time, you need only add one or two fresh ingredients to cook one of our recipes from scratch. Or even better, none.
The Essential Pantry
The foundation layer for all three pantries, this is where everyone should start. There’s so much to be done with these basics. The rule here is stock your pantry mostly with what you’re confident using, and what you love to eat. You’ll turn to it again and again.
Oils and vinegars: Extra-virgin olive oil, neutral cooking oil (such as canola or grapeseed), red-wine vinegar, white vinegar or white-wine vinegar.
Cans and jars: Tuna in olive oil, tomato paste, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, chicken stock or vegetable stock (box-packed tastes better than canned). A good-tasting, simple tomato sauce can become a soup or a stew, or make a quick dinner with pasta or polenta.
Spices and dried herbs: Kosher salt, red-pepper flakes, ground cayenne, curry powder, bay leaves, black peppercorns, sweet paprika, ground cinnamon, ground cumin, garlic powder or granulated garlic, dried thyme and dried oregano. This selection will take you through everything from a basic beef stew to Saturday morning pancakes to Thanksgiving dinner.
Grains and starches: Long-grain white rice, one or two other grains (such as quinoa or farro), dry pasta (one long, one short and chunky), plain bread crumbs, crackers, canned beans (white beans, black beans and-or chickpeas), dry lentils.
Nuts and nut butters: Walnuts, almonds, roasted peanuts, peanut butter (smooth and crunchy).
Sweeteners: Honey, maple syrup, granulated sugar.
Preserves and pickles: Fruit jams and preserves, anchovies.
Condiments and sauces: Basic vinaigrette, mustard (yellow or Dijon), mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, salsa, soy sauce.
Produce: Garlic, onions, all-purpose potatoes (such as Yukon Gold), lemons, shelf-stable tofu (Essential for vegetarians, Expanded for others).
Dairy: Eggs, unsalted butter, cheeses (Cheddar, Jack or Colby, Parmesan), milk or cream for cooking (not skim).
Freezer: Chicken parts, sausages, thick fish fillets, shrimp, thick-sliced bread (for toast), spinach (and other vegetables such as corn and peas), berries (and other fruit such as peaches and mango). Some fruits and vegetables take particularly well to freezing — and in most growing seasons, the quality is better than fresh. Frozen fruit is useful for baking and smoothies.
Baking: All-purpose flour, cornmeal, rolled oats, cornstarch, baking soda, baking powder, pure vanilla extract, light brown sugar, dark brown sugar, confectioners’ sugar, bittersweet baking chocolate, semisweet chocolate chips, raisins or another dried fruit, cocoa powder. With these ingredients on hand, thousands of cookies, brownies, cakes, muffins, quick breads and other sweets can be produced without a trip to the store.
The Expanded Pantry
For the cook who has a grasp of the basics, but wants to be able to stretch toward new options and flavors. Here, long-lasting, punchy ingredients like tahini, hoisin sauce, coconut milk, sherry vinegar and capers are stocked alongside classics: limes with lemons, jasmine rice as well as long-grain, almond butter in addition to peanut butter.
Oils and vinegars: Peanut oil, coconut oil, sesame oil, sherry or balsamic vinegar, apple-cider vinegar.
Cans and jars: Sardines, unsweetened coconut milk, whole Italian plum tomatoes, beef stock (box-packed tastes better than canned). Whole plum tomatoes are rarely called for in recipes, but they tend to be the ripest and best-quality fruit. They can be diced or crushed to use in a recipe — or drained and slow-roasted for an intense topping on omelets, salads, grain bowls or pizza.
Spices: Flaky salt, single-chile powders (such as ancho and pasilla), ground coriander, turmeric, smoked paprika, cardamom, za’atar, allspice, fennel seeds, dry mustard, garam masala (a basic Indian mix of warm spices), five-spice powder (a basic Chinese mix of spices), whole nutmegs.
Grains and starches: Rice noodles, basmati or jasmine rice, brown rice, panko bread crumbs, dry beans.
Nuts and nut butters: Almond butter, tahini, pecans.
Preserves and pickles: Olives (oil-cured and-or in brine), capers in brine. These ingredients, served with good bread and butter, make an elegant appetizer with wine, or everyday snack.
Condiments and sauces: Worcestershire sauce, hoisin, Thai red curry paste, fish sauce, anchovy paste, harissa.
Produce: Russet potatoes, carrots, celery, limes, ginger, avocados, parsley, cilantro, scallions, jalapeños. Keeping chiles, aromatics and herbs on hand gives you instant access to intensely fresh flavors, even for — maybe especially for — the simplest dishes you cook.
Dairy: Plain full-fat yogurt, more intense cheeses (pecorino, feta), salted butter.
Freezer: Pancetta, artichoke hearts, homemade stock, homemade bread crumbs, fresh pasta, vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, cut and peeled winter squash, chopped onions), cooked grains. Prepared ingredients like chopped onions and cooked grains speed your route to dinner.
Baking: Cake flour, whole-wheat flour, dark baking chocolate, vanilla beans, almond extract, powdered gelatin, molasses, light corn syrup, buttermilk powder, active dry yeast.
The Expert Pantry
For the cook who likes taking global flavors, new methods and viral recipes for a spin. Here, the chiles get hotter, the chocolates darker and the cheeses funkier. These ingredients are just a fraction of what’s out there, but by stocking them, you will be able to cook almost any recipe you come across and experiment with creating your own.
Spices: Hot smoked paprika (pimentón), sumac, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, flaky dried chiles (such as Aleppo, Urfa or Maras), dried whole chiles (like ancho and arból), marjoram, dukkah, baharat, shichimi. Whether you stock spice mixes like baharat (a mix of warm spices used in the Middle East) or shichimi (a Japanese blend of ground chiles and sesame seeds) will depend on the global flavors that most appeal to you.
Grains and starches: Short-grain rice, dried pastas (bucatini, mezzi rigatoni or farfalle), spelt, pearl barley.
Nuts and nut butters: Pine nuts, hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds (pepitas), pistachios. Toasted nuts like these (not as everyday as almond and peanuts) are good in salads and granola, on roasted fish, or just with olives for a classic pre-dinner snack.
Preserves and pickles: Pickled hot peppers, cornichons, kimchi, preserved lemons, roasted chiles, horseradish, caperberries, dried sausages such as saucisson sec and chorizo. The intense flavors of pickled and salted ingredients can be a great pick-me-up for mild dishes. In cooking, you can often substitute a bit of preserved lemon for regular lemon, or use the brine from cornichons as part of the liquid in a recipe.
Condiments and sauces: Gochujang, mango chutney, miso, wasabi, dark soy sauce, Chinese oyster sauce, Asian chili bean pastes.
Produce: Shallots, fresh mint, fresh rosemary, lemongrass, fresh Serrano and Thai bird chiles, fresh bay leaves.
Dairy: Ghee, crème fraîche, aged cheeses (Gruyère, blue cheese). Ghee (Indian-style clarified butter) and crème fraîche can reach much higher temperatures than butter, yogurt and sour cream without burning or breaking, so they are useful in cooking.
Freezer: Edamame, curry leaves, makrut lime leaves, merguez (spicy lamb sausages from North Africa). Fragrant leaves like makrut lime and curry (not the spice mix, but an Indian tree with scented leaves) are much more powerful in frozen form than dried.
Baking: Bread flour, pectin, almond flour, tapioca pearls, rose and orange flower waters, gelatin sheets, black cocoa, currants, fresh yeast, sparkling sugar, pearl sugar, candied citrus rinds
Best Practices
Once you have your ingredients, remember that cooking will always create change and disorder. Cans of tomatoes may never match, spices may never live in matching containers, and your hot sauce collection may always try to take over the condiment shelf. But here are a few final thoughts on how to keep your pantry well stocked and well organized enough to be truly useful.
ORGANIZING TIPS
Cooks with different styles need different systems. Some people store the jam with the dried fruits and maple syrup; others associate it with peanut butter, mustard and mayonnaise. The best logic is your own, and it may take some time to figure that out.
If you can’t see it, you’re probably not going to use it. A storage space with more shelving is the most efficient configuration for ingredients. Drawers or slide-out shelves also help tremendously with visibility.
Store everything you can in clear containers. Airtight plastic ones are best, and available in many shapes, sizes, and systems. Rectangular shapes make the best use of space.
Keep a roll of painter’s tape and some permanent markers in a kitchen drawer. It’ll help you make quick labels.
MAXIMIZING INGREDIENTS
Be realistic about your habits. It’s great to clean and trim a week’s worth of vegetables at once — but if you’re not going to do that, buy smaller quantities.
Buy ground spices in the smallest quantities you can find (except for spices you use regularly). Specialty companies will ship as little as an ounce, about 3 tablespoons. You’ll save space and produce better, brighter flavors in your food.
Buy fresh herbs. Dried herbs used to be a pantry essential, but most start out with very little flavor and lose it quickly in storage. (A couple of exceptions are dried oregano and dried thyme.) Pick up fresh herbs when you need them for a particular recipe; it’s a better investment of money and storage space.
Buy heavy, shelf-stable ingredients like boxed broth and canned tomatoes in bulk; better yet, order them online to save time and irritation. Almost any delivery service or website will offer a better price on these items than a brick-and-mortar store.
Cooked ingredients are much easier to use up than raw ones. Whether you steam, boil, pan-fry or roast, cook anything in your refrigerator that looks tired. You can always use it in a salad, a grain bowl or a pasta.

Now I wonder if the reason why they don’t share food is because they are different species of puppets
Like Duck can’t eat certain food Yellow can, Red could nibble some stuff Yellow eats but absolutely nothing Duck does eat and so on
Maybe! That would be a good theory!
Honestly the food they've canonically eaten/talked about is like. Raw chicken and raw eggs, Duck's curry + rice, lasagna, black oil, raisins, coffee and/or tea, sad sad post-funeral sandwiches, cake made of organs, Duck in cans, sentient bread and the sentient bread's child toasted, shepherds pie, candies (called treats), regular cake (a farewell cake), fudge, a milkshake, chuddle dollops, a sentient apple, a full felt english breakfast, Grolton's chicken, and Lily and Todney's family.
Which ended up being WAY more than a remember (not counting all the food that shows up in Duck's family song and what the fuck the food gang was singing about in the Healthy episode)
Becky and Joe just seem to think it's funny to make the puppets have a weird relationship with food, and a distant relationship with each other despite being flatmates and self-declared best friends.

Discover the Coconut Shell Puttu Maker: A Fusion of Tradition and Sustainability
Tumblr media
Introduction
Puttu has a distinct place in the realm of traditional Sri Lankan and South Indian cuisine. Not only is this steamed rice flour and coconut delicacy a cherished comfort dish that connects with cultural history, but it's also a breakfast staple. The crucial instrument for mastering this meal is Big Bear Crafts' coconut shell puttu maker. Handcrafted from natural coconut shells, this environmentally friendly kitchen staple enhances your culinary experience and promotes sustainable living. Its unique design ensures the perfect texture and shape of the dish, delivering an authentic taste every time. Additionally, using this traditional tool adds an element of nostalgia and tradition to your cooking routine.
The Essence of Puttu
The puttu maker makes the preparation of puttu, the traditional South Indian dish, easier and quicker. The combination of fluffy rice cake and flavorful side dishes makes puttu a popular choice for breakfast or as a snack. Puttu is a steamed cake made of rice flour and grated coconut. Puttu is served with a range of side dishes, such as sugar, bananas, or kadala curry, a black chickpea stew. Its preparation calls for a unique steamer, called a puttu kutti in the past but evolving into a more contemporary and inventive form like the puttu maker made of coconut shells.
The Coconut Shell Puttu Maker's Features
1. Handcrafted Excellence:
Big Bear Crafts is renowned for its artisanal craftsmanship and commitment to quality, evident in each puttu maker, made painstakingly from natural coconut shells. Carefully designed for durability and functionality, these puttu makers are a must-have kitchen tool for any cooking enthusiast. The intricate detailing and smooth finish of the coconut shell add a touch of elegance to the traditional South Indian cooking experience.
2. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly:
Utilizing coconut shells, a leftover from the coconut industry, greatly lowers waste and encourages sustainability. This organic substance is both ecologically benign and biodegradable. In addition, the use of coconut shells as a material also helps reduce the demand for plastic and other non-biodegradable materials, contributing to a healthier environment overall. The versatility of coconut shells allows for a wide range of products to be created, further promoting eco-friendly practices.
3. Organic Polishing:
To ensure a safe and smooth surface for food preparation, we naturally polish the coconut shells. This procedure preserves the shell's integrity and durability while enhancing its inherent beauty. The natural polishing process also helps to maintain the eco-friendly and sustainable qualities of the coconut shell products. Additionally, we ensure that no harmful chemicals or toxins are produced during the finishing process.
4. Traditional Design:
The coconut shell puttu maker's design, which features a narrower closed end and a wider open end to enable ideal steam cooking, pays homage to vintage kitchen implements. This traditional method of cooking puttu ensures that the dish is evenly steamed and retains its authentic taste and texture. The coconut shell material also adds a unique flavor to the dish, making it a favorite among food enthusiasts.
How to Use the Coconut Shell Puttu Maker
1. Preparation:
Begin by thoroughly washing the coconut shell puttu maker with warm, soapy water. Rinse it properly and ensure it is completely dry before use. This will help prevent any potential contamination of the food.
2. Filling the Shell:
Line the bottom of the shell with a layer of grated coconut, then a layer of rice flour that has been moistened. Continue layering until the shell is completely filled, and then add a final layer of coconut. After adding the last layer of coconut, steam for roughly 20 minutes.
3. Steaming:
Place the puttu maker, made from packed coconut shells, in a steamer with the wider end facing upwards. Steam the puttu for 7 to 10 minutes, or until it becomes firm and thoroughly cooked.
4. Serving:
The puttu maker should be carefully taken out of the steamer and given some time to cool. Using a spatula or the back of a spoon, carefully press the puttu out of the shell. Warm up and serve with your favorite side dishes. Enjoy the delicious puttu with some freshly grated coconut and banana slices for a traditional touch. The combination of flavors will surely delight your taste buds.
The Coconut Shell Puttu Maker's Advantages
- Nutritional Benefits:
By preserving the nutritional value of coconut, the coconut shell puttu maker improves the puttu’ s flavor and texture.
- Aesthetic Appeal:
Your kitchen and dining table will seem more rustic thanks to the coconut shell's organic appearance.
- Simple Maintenance:
The puttu maker is easy to clean. After giving it a quick wash in warm water with a little soap, let it air dry. Steer clear of abrasive detergents and cleaning pads, as they may cause surface damage.
Conclusion
Big Bear Crafts' coconut shell puttu maker is a celebration of heritage, sustainability, and workmanship rather than merely a kitchen gadget. This puttu maker is an essential tool for everyone who values the craft of creating real puttu, regardless of experience level in the kitchen. The coconut shell puttu maker is an eco-friendly option that will enhance your cooking skills and offer a hint of cultural refinement. Crafted with precision and care, this traditional tool allows you to experience the authentic flavors and textures of homemade puttu. Embrace the artistry of traditional cooking with Big Bear Crafts' coconut shell puttu maker.

Culture and Customs of the Sán Chay Ethnic Group:
Religion and Beliefs: The Sán Chay households have many altars. In addition to ancestor worship, they also worship heaven and earth, the land deity, midwives, the agricultural god, the livestock god, etc. The Sán Chay altars are quite simple, often just a bamboo tube for incense sticks. However, every year before the Lunar New Year, the altars are cleaned and decorated with a piece of red paper.
Housing: The traditional houses of the Sán Chay are usually stilt houses and half-stilt, half-earth houses (the latter are now very few). The living space in a stilt house is divided into different areas. The front half of the house, from left to right, includes the daughter’s room with stairs going down to the underside, the central part with the cooking stove and sleeping area for the elderly in winter, and finally, the daughter-in-law’s room on the right. The back half of the house, on the left side raised about 30cm above the common floor level, contains the ancestor altar, the sleeping area for the elderly in summer, and the reception area for male guests; on the lower right side is the reception area, dining area, and sleeping area for young male family members. The space under the stilt house is for the rice pounding mortar and previously for keeping livestock and poultry.
Clothing: Women wear indigo skirts and long shirts decorated with patterns under the armpits and back. Daily, they use an indigo belt, but on festive and ceremonial days, they wear more beautifully decorated indigo outfits with white fabric patches interspersed with indigo ones on the chest, red and white patterns on the back, and red and light blue belts. They wear a square indigo-black scarf on their heads. Men wear long or short indigo shirts and brown or white trousers.
Cuisine: The primary food sources are glutinous and plain rice; alongside maize, sweet potatoes, and cassava. These foods are prepared in various ways, such as cooking, grilling, steaming, grinding into flour for cakes, and making noodles.
Art: The Sán Chay’s folk music is highlighted by lyrical love songs called "sình ca," featuring two types: night singing in the village and singing on the road or in the market. The Sán Chay also have various dances, including drum dance, shrimp catching dance, bird dance, fish stabbing dance, and lantern dance. Their musical instruments include gongs, cymbals, drums, bells, and flutes, with the unique clay death drum and bamboo mouth organ being particularly notable.
Education: According to the 2019 survey of 53 ethnic minorities, the literacy rate for those aged 15 and older is 89.7%; the overall school attendance rate for primary education is 101.1%; for lower secondary education is 96.6%; and for upper secondary education is 70.5%. The rate of those aged 15 and older who can read and write their ethnic language is 7.1%. Notably, 99.68% of Sán Chay children over 5 years old attend school.

We'll uncover the essentials of gluten-free living, giving you the confidence to navigate grocery aisles, restaurant menus, and your kitchen. From understanding what gluten is and why people avoid it to mastering balanced meal planning and finding exciting new recipes, this article will equip you to embrace a gluten-free diet that nourishes your body and satisfies your cravings.
What is Gluten?
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and their derivatives. It gives dough its elasticity and helps baked goods rise. For some, gluten triggers a range of health issues.
Why Go Gluten-Free?
Celiac Disease: This autoimmune disorder causes serious damage to the small intestine when gluten is consumed.
Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity: While not an autoimmune condition, gluten can still trigger symptoms like bloating, fatigue, and headaches in some individuals.
Other Reasons: Some people choose a gluten-free diet for personal reasons or perceived health benefits.
Navigating the Gluten-Free Grocery Store
It might seem overwhelming initially, but navigating the gluten-free aisle doesn't have to be stressful. Here are some tips:
Read Labels Carefully: Look for products labeled "gluten-free" or certified by a trusted organization.
Familiarize Yourself with Gluten-Free Grains: Embrace naturally gluten-free options like rice, quinoa, millet, and buckwheat.
Explore Gluten-Free Substitutes: Many gluten-free flours, bread, pasta, and baked goods are readily available.
Check for Hidden Gluten: Gluten can lurk in unexpected places like sauces, soups, and processed foods.
Building a Balanced Gluten-Free Diet
Eating gluten-free doesn't mean sacrificing variety or nutrition. Here's how to create a balanced, fulfilling meal plan:
Focus on Whole Foods: Load up on fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, healthy fats, and gluten-free grains.
Experiment with New Recipes: There's a world of delicious gluten-free food recipes waiting to be discovered! Like Crispy baked sweet potato fries with avocado dip, Zesty black bean burgers on lettuce wraps, Creamy Thai coconut curry with chicken and vegetables,  Decadent flourless chocolate cake
Don't Forget Fiber: Many gluten-free foods lack fiber, so include plenty of fruits, vegetables, and legumes.
Consider Supplements: If you're concerned about nutrient deficiencies, talk to your doctor about potential supplements.
Dining Out Gluten-Free
Going out to eat doesn't have to be a challenge. Follow these tips:
Research Restaurants: Look for restaurants with gluten-free menus or options.
Communicate with Your Server: Be clear about your dietary needs and ask questions about ingredients.
Be Prepared: If unsure, bring your snacks or a gluten-free meal.
Living a Deliciously Gluten-Free Life
Remember, going gluten-free is a journey, not a destination. It takes time to adjust, but with the right knowledge and resources, you can live a vibrant, delicious life without gluten. Embrace the abundance of gluten-free options, experiment in the kitchen, and enjoy the freedom of a diet that nourishes your body and satisfies your taste buds.
