namie and shizuo is such an amazing duo in theory because one of them is a woman who mistakes her highly motherly feelings for romantic for her brother she had taken care of him while her parents were busy ruining their jobs, other one is a man who endured hell on earth and tries to be a good brother even though he is the reason his brother is the way he is; and their shared interest? some god complex twink in his 20s and their HATRED for some god complex twink in his 20s

I got bored so I'm rambling through all of my Bungou Stray Dogs AU's.
The Sheep King and his Demon AU
Aka Bsd except Chuuya doesn't join the Port Mafia.
The Sheep never betray Chuuya. In fact they are basically one big dysfunctional and loving family.
Chuuya still goes on the search for Arahabaki and meets Dazai. But the Sheep trust him, their wary of Dazai but not Chuuya.
As time goes on, the Sheep warm up to Dazai and basically adopt him like a stray cat. Chuuya and Dazai get together, the Sheep tease them relentlessly for it.
Just a silly lil AU on their antics and Soukoko being Soukoko even though Chuuya remains King of the Sheep.
Agency informant Izaya
Izaya Orihara from Durarara in the world of Bungou Stray Dogs. However this Izaya is quite different, essentially everything in Durarara still happened.
The final fight with Shizuo and the brutal humbling reminder that Izaya was still very much human.
This is an Izaya who has changed, who tries every day to be a better person than who he was.
He came to Yokohama because he was curious if the famous Demon Prodigy was in fact a Demon. And ended up with a whole new life.
He learned to let people in, he learned how to love people. And became the human Shinra always said he could be.
No one from Durarara shows up because Izaya has erased all evidence of him online. He has left Ikebukuro behind and will never return.
Izaya is like Katai in the way he's not technically a member of the Agency but he's still with the Agency. The Agency adore him, Dazai is basically his little brother at this point.
Sometimes Izaya wonders if he deserves this, but he's thankful anyway.
Izaya's firecely protective over them all, and helps out when shit goes down. Usually from behind the scenes.
He has an ability, Sunsets Last Applause, that functions like Ango's except it works through looking at people rather than touching objects.
An AU that takes place across different moments and arcs in canon, either about Izaya or he's in someway involved.
The Port Mafia brothers AU
Aka Bsd except Akutugawa and Dazai have a good sibling relationship
Basically that.
Dazai finds Akutugawa and recruits him into the Port Mafia. What Dazai didn't expect was for Mori to put him in charge of Akutugawa.
Dazai freaks out, because he's in no way equipped to raise a child (child in question is 2 years younger than him.)
The reason Dazai freaks out is because he wants to do right by Akutugawa. He saw a scared kid and wanted to help him, but he doesn't know what to do.
Oda is there to give him advice and reassure him that he'll be fine. That Akutugawa will have to learn to stand on his own two feet in this organisation.
You need to guide him, be a helping hand. Dazai doesn't abuse Akutugawa in this, at all.
In the Port Mafia, Akutugawa is basically Dazai's shadow. He's silent, he's never far from him and almost treated like the furniture, a bodyguard.
For his own protection, no one can know their true relationship especially Mori.
Outside of the Port Mafia Akutugawa is Dazai's silly, bitchy little brother and Dazai is his dramatic, dumbass older brother. Their idiots and they love each other.
Silly lil AU that's basically Dazai and Akutugawa's antics, along with Gin. And Oda keeping an eye on them with Ango.
Moonlit Butterfly
When Atsushi's ability manifested, the Orphanage called the Special Division of Unusual Powers to take him away.
They were fascinated by his ability, see they wanted to start the Hunting Dogs programme. But they didn't have proof a human could survive the procedures.
Hence, where Atsushi came in as their lab rat.
However at some point, Fukuchi learned of him and said such a strong ability couldn't just be wasted like this.
So along side being a lab rat, now Atsushi was being trained by Fukuchi. And let's just say Fukuchi was not a kind instructor. No one treated Atsushi like he was human.
The great war came and Atsushi, now 10 years old was deployed as a soilder. Which is where he met the other kid in his regiment, 11 year old Yosano Akiko.
Yosano had been working at a sweets shop just last week, but was persuaded by Doctor Mori to join the war effort. He told her she could save lives with her ability, and she wanted too.
Neither really knew what they'd signed up for, though it wasn't like either had a choice.
Yosano is the first person to show Atsushi kindness, the first to treat him like a human. Both of them have a sibling relationship and everyone else in the regiment keeps their distance.
They love Yosano one moment and than hate the next as their angel of death. And Atsushi is deemed a demon simply for existing.
Well, not everyone thinks that. The only person outside of the duo who are kind to them is Shunzen Tachihara.
He's an older sibling to them. Yosano and Atsushi remind him of his little brother and Shunzen's always there to let them have those little pockets of ease and joy during the war.
(Entire regiment: that's an angel/Demon
Shunzen Tachihara: Those are children, leave them alone!)
AU is basically the embodiment of the universe bought them together, ripped them apart and somewhere along the way they found each other again.
Because Shunzen... Meets his canon fate, Yosano and Atsushi are seperated after the war. Yosano to the psychiatric hospital, Atsushi back to the lab.
But with the efforts of one Genuis Detective they are bought back together again.
And if I can figure out a plot, this one might become an actual fic. Mostly centers on them in the war but does include afterwards.
The Wary Weretiger
The Orphanage never let Atsushi forget who he was. Atsushi remembers killing Shibusawa and was told about why he came.
Shibusawa wanted the tiger, most people want the tiger. Atsushi doesn't really know why, just that it's unique the tiger and because of the power it holds.
The Headmaster really told Atsushi almost everything. The man was many things but a liar wasn't one of them.
He taught Atsushi that the only one you can trust is yourself and Atsushi took that seriously. The only being Atsushi trusts other than himself is the tiger.
The tiger and Atsushi are close, they are the only one each other have. Because of that Atsushi has better control but not completely.
Atsushi doesn't trust anyone else. Every adult in his life has let him down, has tortured and abuse him.
He runs away from the Orphanage and lives on the streets.
He knows the Guild are after him, he's met Fitzgerald and knows about Fyodor. Atsushi has even met Doctor Mori, who was an old friend of the Headmaster and curious about his ability.
So when Atsushi gets asked to join the Agency, he refuses. Because he believes they just want his ability. They did start the whole thing by searching for the tiger, so... Fair assumption.
And while, true the fact the rampaging tiger is actually a homeless teenager definitely shifts everyone's priorities.
They work to build up trust with Atsushi, wanting to show they truly want to help him.
But Atsushi doesn't want their help, he's gotten this far on his own. He's been hunted his whole life, known pain as a constant companion.
He doesn't know what to do in the face of genuine kindness.
Unfortunately the threat will continue to grow and Atsushi will end up having to ally with the tiger.
He's smart, cold and has a short temper. But underneath it all he's just a kid that wants a home.
The Agency swear they'll give him one, one day.

Hello how are you doing today may please request shizuo, Akabayashi and izaya with an s/o whose an assassin
With an Assassin S/O
Fandom: Durarara
Character(s): Izaya Orihara, Shizuo Heiwajima
Type of Request: Headcanons
Warning(s): Suicide mention (you did request for Izaya and he's trash)
Note(s): Not writing for Akabayashi, but I can do Shizuo and (reluctantly) Izaya for you.
Tumblr media
Izaya
First off, he taunts you. You're an assassin, a cold-blooded killer. And you fell in love with him? Kind of pathetic, S/O. But don't worry, he won't let your Ill-placed love go to waste.
Definitely uses your talents. He'll make sure whatever bounty boards or assignments you get align with his plans without telling you a thing. Just wishes you luck in your killings.
Izaya has pushed people to try and commit suicide. I can see him trying to have you prove your love by killing those closest to you for him. Just wants to test your loyalty a bit and see how you react if you say a parent or sibling pop up as someone you have to kill.
Shizuo
Doesn't care. As long as you don't kill anyone he's attached to then that's fine. He doesn't want to know the details of your job unless he sees that it's starting to wear you down.
Shizuo isn't a fan of the idea that you're an assassin, but he's not going to tell you how to live your life unless it does start to affect him or those he cares about.
As long as his brother and his friends are safe even though he associates with you then that's fine with him.

Stray thoughts on Kururi & Mairu
So I am probably one of the very few Kururi & Mairu fans and I want to talk about them. They are, unfortunately, victims of being anime girls from the 2000s - there are a lot of problematic things in drrr that we, as a fandom, should acknowledge and discuss. Simon, Namie, the treatment of characters like Vorona and Anri, I could go on. But right now, I want to talk about the twins.
We don’t get a lot of information on the Orihara family as a whole. All we know is that Izaya was very isolated as a child, and seemed to resent his sisters for being carbon copies of each other. So the girls decided that they would be opposites. They picked their personality traits, splitting them evenly. That’s why they act opposite in the chat room - they do it all on purpose.
I can only speculate here, but it seems like the Orihara parents may not have been around a lot. Actually nobody seems to have parents in drrr. Why was Masaomi able to do all that while he was in middle school???? And the only parents we see are awful - like Shingen?????? He’s our parental figure in this show????Anyway. It’s a pretty common headcanon that Izaya’s parents were not very present, so we can only assume the same for the girls. Izaya, due to his own issues, resented them. All they had was each other. And that is not good!
If you think about it, their codependence is really sad. They’ve had to rely on each other for everything. Even though they purposefully act different from one another, they need the other one in order to feel whole. Izaya said they were basically the same person, and they changed that. But in the process, they cut themselves in half. They’re still operating as one.
When we meet the twins, they seem pretty comfortable around the people Izaya frequently interacts with - mainly Shizuo. He clearly knows them, and knows them well enough to evade them gently. He’s a lot kinder to the girls, even if they get on his nerves.
They quickly befriend the van gang, Mikado and Anri, Shinra and Celty, and Akane. They are present at the contentious Hot Pot Party. And Izaya knows that. He knows his sisters are hanging out with all the people on his chessboard.
Suddenly, they’re part of the chatroom. They’re directly interacting with Aoba (which, are they not kinda parallels to Anri and Masaomi to Aoba’s Mikado??). They have their dojo. Akane Awakusu looks up to them. And even though they get bullied, they have a community to fall back on. They’re not alone anymore.
It kinda seems like everyone who knows Izaya stepped in as big siblings to the twins. They continuously reject him, and he rejects them back. But they have something he doesn’t. Something he’s clearly jealous of.
They’ve never really been alone, they’ve always had each other.
And yeah, the canon portrays that in a super weird way. Sometimes they take the “twisted love” concept too far. But these characters are a lot more interesting than the jokes made at their expense. Sometimes I just pretend the canon isn’t true. I don’t like it! I wish they didn’t do it!!! That’s why I never used to talk about how much I like the twins - people will always fall back on the same joke like it’s 2009. Sometimes you just have to snatch them out of the canon. Take them out of their shitty narrative, they’re mine now >:3
Unfortunately, a lot of the female characters in drrr get ignored or misrepresented by the fandom. Even Celty! Hell, the anime goes out of its way to not make Celty the main character. We get stuck with Mikado for most of the show’s run.
I guess I just find it odd that the fandom doesn’t give the same grace and understanding to the girls as they do the guys. Izaya is everyone’s poor little meow meow (and I’m including myself in that statement) but what about the TWINS???
Idk I think their parallels to Izaya are really interesting, they have everything he doesn’t have. They’re still strange, and may not fit in with their peers, but they’re treated with respect by the very people Izaya focuses most of his time and energy on.
I also think it is so funny that Izaya had two little freak sisters the entire time and we find out about them in an OVA lmao
Like the funniest thing you can do to Izaya is give him annoying little sisters and then not mention them until it’s funny to do so
It’s like when Roger Rabbit can’t take his hand out of the handcuff until it’s funny, it is so funny to introduce these two after you’ve built Izaya up so much. Like he’s just a weird guy with weird sisters. He gets mad when they join his chatroom where he pretends to be a teenage girl. They’re a cringefail family and we simply must respect that.

You might’ve read it already but I’d like to ask for your opinion on The Gift of Hands by onewhodiedyoung on AO3? (If you have read it) It explores the Orihara siblings and Shizuo’s dealing with their grief post-anime, and personally I love their takes on Izaya’s dynamic with his sisters :] But overall I love your takes and paragraphs analysing Izaya! (I don’t know how to ask you about fanfics properly because it’s been my religion for the past few days and reading long analysis from fellow critters on the internet have my legs kicking and I want to share the same sentiment as an entity of media mass-consumption but I’m very sorry if I’ve misspoke or said anything wrong)
mkay so. i went and read this fic bc id never heard of it before and the summary + ur pitch really intrigued me. i thought id read it slowly but i binged the whole thing while on the crapper
and i uh . well, this is embarrassing but. literally from beginning to end i did not stop crying even for a second. i have no real idea why (the melancholy i suppose) and even if i did i dont think id explain it here
anyway. besides that
god, yeah. that's izaya. he's cruel and yet not; he cares so much but refuses to make it known even for a second, like he's ashamed that he loves certain people more than others- like it goes against his nature. he throws things at his sisters because he's a mean big brother, but he was teaching them to dodge so they'd always be safe. he drank poison to be immune to it but (from what i can gather) it wasn't working very well. he doesn't want anyone to know he cares because caring means vulnerability means not being in control, means having a weakness to exploit
and his sisters, yeah. they'd miss him so much. i never seen a fic exploring their grief, and the relationship between them and shizuo.... god. it's so good. the end, where izaya finally stops hiding from what he is, cruel and shitty but soft and human, at the end of it all.
