Gaaaasp! It's an update for Taste Testing! Over a year after I wrote the last chapter. I finally felt inspired enough to get back to this fic and complete the request for Bubble Tea I got. I hope you enjoy the chapter. Who is a night owl:

Tempest doesn't need sleep anymore, he just can still do it, so him.

Who is a morning person: Also Tempest because he doesn't need sleep, so he can wake up easily and start the morning. Are they cuddlers: Oh you BET! Do I have a whole scene in the fic where Ornstein smothers Tempest to death?

Who is the big spoon and who is the little spoon: Ornstein has to be the big spoon with their size difference.

What is their favourite sleeping position: It is easiest when Ornstein lies on his back and extends one arm so that Tempest can curl inside of it.

Who steals all the blankets: Ornstein.

What they wear to bed: Ornstein wears a night shirt. Tempest doesn't really have sleep clothes, so he wears whatever he can find and is comfortable.

Who likes seeing the other wearing their t-shirt: Tempest just DROWNS in Ornstein's t-shirt.

Who falls asleep mid-conversation: Ornstein.

Who wakes up in the middle of the night with nightmares: Ornstein!

Who accidentally punched the other in their sleep: Like I said, Ornstein smothered Tempest to death while he slept.

Who can’t keep their hands to themself: Tempest really likes to explore Ornstein's body ^^

Ok/neutral: I don't dislike it!

In theory: Remember I said Nkstein being infinite potential? This one is the real infinite potential. CU can be anyone and is only restricted by their mission, and even so, they can have different attitudes towards it. Change Ornstein's personality a little and you get so much different flavors out of this ship.

Projection: C'mon, how can it not be? You can't avoid it with oc/canon, some people can't even avoid it with canon/canon. So far only little's fic pours some more development into CU instead of the usual horny one-shots.

Not my thing/missing something: To me, it's really just projection and oc aint that biggie for me either. Lest the oc is really interesting maybe, but I've yet to be convinced.

and I have IN FACT done fic for it, but completely out of spite and humiliation. Making people shaking and crying under my kinkshame power is my kink.

Platonic: The usual, yes.

Why?: C'mon. Give me one reason of they should be together besides that they're colleagues and are the most popular two of the whole series.

To superhell you go!: If I see the mention of this ship in any fic without their tag, die :). Not the author, but either of them can go.

Not my thing: Clearly. But go ahead and have fun, I won't be madly sick if I see arts popping here and there.

I hate it: Yes I do. Low chance that I'll be convinced they're good.

Lastly, don't let my hate interfere your fun zone. I'm just a hater, not your local fandom sociopath.

Ornstein/Chosen Undead

I just made an inhuman noise. That should tell you at least half of what you wanna know.

when or if I started shipping it.

I basically started shipping it the second I started thinking about it. The thought went from “hmm, wonder if this could happen” to “wHY AREN’T THERE ENOUGH FICS FOR THIS” in about five minutes.

my thoughts:

I haven’t read too much on the ship, but just thinking about it makes me melt. I’m an absolute sucker for height differences, and just. Think. About. The. Height. Difference. Oh my god, I’m dying. That’s only part of it, though. There’s probably a bunch of other things I haven’t quite thought about just yet that would absolutely murder me. 

What makes me happy about them:

Well, I already mentioned the height difference. But there’s so much suffering going on in these games that Ornstein getting any kind of happiness just brightens my day. Plus, the Chosen Undead also gets a lot of crap thrown at them. Let them be happy and cute, please. 

What makes me sad about them:

That I have to kill Ornstein in game.

Okay, aside from that, there’s a lot of crap that can happen to this ship, just given the circumstances. I’ve given it some thought, and oh lordy, exploring some of these emotional paths has been an adventure. 

things done in fanfic that annoys me:

Like I said, I haven’t read too much fanfic for this ship, but I have a strong feeling that if it wasn’t a slow burn kind of fic, that would annoy me. Orns doesn’t strike me as the type to rush into that kind of thing, and the Undead on the other side of the equation would probably be paranoid and suspicious to high heaven. Or at least pretty mad about everything trying to kill them.

things I look for in fanfic:

As stated above, slow burn all the fricking way. Throw in some mutual pining and maybe a “oh shit what do you mean I’m falling for them” realization on either end (or both!) and I’m set. Just. Buckle me in and start the ride. 

My kinks:

This probably applies to multiple ships I have, but hand kissing. Good god, I don’t know what it is about that, but I just ascend to another plane of existence when I just think about that with these two.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

Y’know, I actually haven’t given too much thought to that. I’m coming up empty on this one. I’m open to suggestions, though!

My happily ever after for them:

Ah, crap. This is kind of hard when you’re working with a series that basically has no solid happy endings. If anything, I’d go with this: they’re able to live out their lives in peace and free from the Undead Curse. Because Hollowing is horrifying and I’ve hashed out that scenario before. Oof. I don’t really know how the Curse would be banished for the rest of time, but yeah, that’s my basic ideal scenario for them. Either that or they find some way to work with it and still prevent the Chosen Undead from going Hollow. Bottom line: happiness.

Time hasn’t changed the fact that these guys live in my head rent free + I still love the idea of Ornstein having some pretty nasty burn scarring from his centuries of fighting dragons; or perhaps from before? Maybe he had reasons for fighting the dragons that predated his knighthood and service to Gwyn? 🤔

Imagine your Smol and Tol otp where Tol is doing push-ups and Smol is lying under them so they are more motivated to stay up on their arms and keep going and sometimes when they push down they get a peck on the lips (and then Tol gets tired and collapses heavily on top of Smol, smushing them while they flail)

You are right. I have barely thought about this ship lately. I am a multishipper and I love NKstein dearly, but lately I noticed that I am the happiest with my Ornstein x OC ship, so Orndead or Stormstein. With quite a bit of Smough on the side. I guess it would be easier to get invested if the other NKstein fans were still around, but most of them seemed to have moved on, so there is not much discussion. I need to read some fics to get in the mood for them again. So, I still love this ship and will read fic and reblog art with it, but I don't feel like creating for it right now.
