My phobias are WEIRD because people can understand that I'm scared of thunder, especially with sensory issues.

They GET why I'm scared of bugs, why I might have a phobia of them.

but. Crabs. People do NOT understand my fear of crabs. Kabourophobia and Ostraconophobia are RARE AF and when I tell people I'm scared of crabs they are SHOCKED. Sometimes they don't even really believe it, like "really?? All crabs?? And shrimp too?? What about drawings?? What if they have a silly hat??"

YES ALL OF THEM ALL THE TIME, and all crustations to some degree but MOSTLY crabs, crabs can be panic attack inducing and crabs make me CRY AND SOB. I do not care if the crab has a silly hat. Good for him!!! I cannot cannot CANNOT handle a crab. Not even one. If there is a single crab in the building I am breaking down. I won't come over to your house if you have a pet crab. Maybee a small one is okay if you keep it locked up but I'll still be on edge the whole time so like it's either my place or you're sending the crab to someone else to babysit I CANNOT do crabs. Terrified of crabs.

*edit - as for drawings or plushies, it really depends. Sometimes a drawing is okay and other times it is NOT.

I'M CRYING.

Like a week ago I got bored with just watching Batman, and just started reading the summaries. Saw the one where Robin gets swallowed by a giant clam and watched that part of those two episodes just to see it. Laughed a bit thinking of the next time someone offered him clams and imagined he'd blanch and be like, "no, why would you do this, i don't care how small they are, they're going to kill me, get them away".

And then I got to that episode today and just finished it.

And at the end it freaking happened.

"Dinner is served."

"About time, Alfred, what are we having?"

"We begin with your favourite, Master Dick. Clam chowder."

*cue mixed look of terror and trying desperately not to throw up while Aunt Harriet marvels at the coincidence - 'we were just talking about Robin getting swallowed by a giant clam! how silly!'*

And then Bruce of course. "Chin up, old chum. It's one way of getting even."

My dad has brought a whole lobster and put it in the fridge. I have ostraconophobia. My mom warned me about it and tried to show me it but I couldn't look at it and now I'm crying and why am I so scared of crustations I don't understand. 😢

Does anyone else have this phobia?

like. really bad nightmares triggering ostraconophobia which is weird bc. usually that fear is purely visual to me and i can separate “crustaceans are creepy little fuckers” from thoughts like “those creepy fuckers are gonna get u” im not usually worried about my safety with them they just freak me out the same way the sight of blood can freak people out even tho it isn’t hurting them. but this dream. i was terrified. these lobster/prawn/scorpion monstrosities were everywhere and were stinging my feet it was awful
