twissy+clara is so fascinating to me because clara, when you pay attention, is just a representation of the way that missy loves

clara is a gift, missy picked her out, she chose her. clara is a bouquet of flowers or a box of chocolates, she’s a gift and she’s a trap (“I know traps, traps are my flirting”)

missy giving clara to twelve was a love letter. claras control issues, her perfectionism, her intelligence, her obsessiveness, her selfishness, she is as close to the master in personality as any companion has ever been but as close to the doctor in personality too. missy giving her to him was “look at how well I know you. no one could’ve given you someone so perfectly catered to your every need. someone who could ruin you the way i love to. because no one knows you like I do”

and then missy gets so jealous over her and it’s so funny because it’s like, this was you- you did this. you molded and chose her and gave him someone who is like you but who isn’t drenched in all the guilt and shame that the doctor holds from the childhood you shared and the awful things you’ve done to one another.

i wonder if the doctor erasing clara from his memory felt like a loss or a victory to missy. I wonder if he ever asked her about clara while she was in the vault and, if he did, what did she say? or does she just become this off-limits topic that sits uncomfortable between them that they’re both too scared or angry or hurt to acknowledge.

sigh. i find their dynamic to be probably the most fascinating doctor/companion dynamics on the show. especially when you throw missy in there? god… you’re all so insane I love you so much

i think they’re literally perfectly designed to ruin each other (as missy intended) but the way that twelve specifically ends up listening to her and learning and trying to change to be better for her makes me so emotional.

however. u will notice that I tag all relationships I ship as “doctorcompanion” and all relationships I consider platonic as “doctor & companion” and my twelve/clara tag is “twelve & clara” for a reason. It probably has something to do with how much I relate to both of them (concerning I know) but i see their relationship as a very intense friendship. a romantic friendship maybe but still a friendship. no I could not explain the difference to you but it’s there and it’s important to how I conceptualize them.
