So like, Jack had basically no character arc all the way through the entire show. He finished exactly as he started! No growth, no learning, no change, nothing. And then they give us a Carry on Wayward Son montage over mostly him? Don't make me laugh lmao, absolutely ridiculous

The way they used him to just get rid of all the problems was also stupid as fuck. Oh, Michael, the big thing we were building up to! Nah he's dead now. Lucifer? Yeah he's dead too. Nick? Also dead

And then there was Nick. UGH. Sick of Lucifer, sick of Nick, I'm just glad they're both gone

I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY KILLED MARY OFF LIKE THIS, ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME. I'M FUCKING FUMING ABOUT THIS YOU GUYS. FUMING AND DISTRAUGHT. I was SO HAPPY when she came back from the apocalypse world, and then that's what we get? OKAY THEN

And then the weird random angel segue to make new angels? For like thirty minutes before we throw out that idea too

The box? Which we spent so long building up to be this unbreakable thing? Yeah super special all powerful character got rid of that too you guys. As an aside, this plot line was shaping up to be AMAZING when the idea was Dean locking himself up in it to stop Michael.

just finished s2e13 of beautyhunters and it's still so wild to me that jace, one of the best (if not THE best) shadowhunter fighters, herondale royalty, the same guy who did an unnecessary backflip over both his grandma AND a greater demon, also escaped valentine's hold, saw maia take out all his goons, saw maia's punch coming from a mile away because that's what he's literally trained to do and decided to get his ass beat by her anyway i can not believe he wanted to get punched by maia like.... he wanted that i can not believe

10.  Is there a fandom you read fic from but don’t write in?

Actually, I haven't really read fanfic in a very, very long time? I do love fanfic, I just haven't been invested enough in any fandom to gather spoons enough to read fiction in a long time. I've mostly lived in my own original storyverse Pangaea for the past three years or so.

I think the last fandom I actually read some fic for was the MCU in the early days of the first Avengers movie? I was relatively into frostiron for a while and helped my wife beta her fics Spiting The Sun and Do Ut Des, as well as reading some other fics I unfortunately can't recall the names of.

14. Go on, who are your BroTPs?

I love Wei Wuxian's and Wen Qing's dynamic! It's so so so rare to see a male-female friendship that isn't romance coded.

Literal bros with amazing dynamic would be Wei Wuxian and Jiang Chen, because who needs their heart anyway.

19. Is there a ship which you wished you could get behind, but you just don’t feel them?

Several, but it's a lot more to do with brain fatigue than aversion to the ships themselves!

I wish I had the energy and focus to read more XiYao, I really do love their chemistry a lot. (I may be on a slippery slope there, we'll see. Maybe I'll point back to this post in another month and laugh hollowly and say ”ahaha, guess I should have seen that obsession coming”. Or not. Who can tell? Not me. I just work here.)

I also... both kind of love and hate SongXiao? Like, I love their dynamic, but there seems to be a very black and white (ba-dum-tsh) view that they're the acceptable pure cinnamon pairing in opposition to the problematic clusterfuck that is XueXiao - and since I'm very much into XueXiao, I daren't look too deeply into SongXiao since there's almost always a very negative vibe regarding Xue Yang and Yi City there. But as two parts of the SongXueXiao disaster that I love, I definitely like them a ton.

SangChen? Is that the shipping name? One of those I can see would be fun, but am just not really feeling it.

To be honest though? I'm a thot for good writing and characterization and if something good enough pops under my nose, I'm very willing to give it a shot, no matter the pairing.

I'm still very new in this fandom (hard to believe it's only been a bit more than a month since I jumped in!) and with my brain getting easily overworked, I actually haven't read all that much?

But let's see if I can scrape together 5 fics I read or have read!

1. Chopping Block. This has got to be one of my fave (Song?)XueXiao fics. The way the characters are handled is beautiful, and there have been several of those gut-punch ”oh.” moments where the hurt is so, so good. (The ”his hands get cold” scene, man. MAN.)

2. Red Azalea. This is another utterly charming (Song?)XueXiao fic, a delightful capricious post-Yi-City dance that will also deliver the occasional devastating emotional backhand.

3. My Erstwhile Dear. Aka the fic that decisively picked up my heart and rubbed it face-down into XiYao to the point I'm even on that slippery slope to start with. I find myself thinking about this fic a lot. Like. I probably get distracted thinking about it on an almost daily basis, hoping it'll update. The format of written letters delivers the hurt in such an elegant way, you just gasp for breath.

4. Rewritten. Found this because you rec'ed it! One of the very few modern au's on my list (nothing against modern au’s as such, just not my favourite trope, especially for this show) and damn. Hngh. One of the best openly SongXueXiao fics I've read. The character dynamics, the characterization, the whirl of the timeline layout and the background plot slowly creeping into view... Fucking masterpiece.

5. I'm not being creepy, I promise, but pretty much anything you've written for this fandom? Like, that is literally the last thing in my open fic tabs? Picking one single one is super-hard, but This Place Could Be Beautiful is the one I have bookmarked to browse your stuff, it actually had me literally tearing up reading it, and that's a very good thing? Lick Your Exit Wounds is another one I've re-read several times. Exposure Therapy for some good lighthearted fun (which, still, had me literally tearing up at the part where WWX just so quietly and resignedly asks if he's done something wrong, damn you) And tbh? I. Cannot. Wait. for the fucked up SongXue roadtrip. I cannot. Like. Its state of non-existence torments me. Torments me.

44. What ship do you feel needs more attention?

All mine, of course. (insert ”those pairings were mine, those other OTPs were other people's”-joke here.) Seriously, I'd love for more well written, messy SongXueXiao. XueXiao is also very, very good. And since it seems I at least glance in its direction these days, why not, more XiYao.

And honestly? I have the largest soft spot for any interaction between Wei Wuxian and Xue Yang. Whether sexy or just snarking off doesn't matter (doing both is a bonus).

They are such absolute parallels, the sassy street kids who climbed their way up and through convergent evolution became founders and inventors in a whole new area of cultivation. Never really fitting in - but unlike, for example, Jin Guangyao, who lives and breathes propriety and etiquette to get to own be part of that society, they both just give the cultivation world a big middle finger and walk their respective single plank bridges into the dark. If not for their opposite stances when it comes to caring about other people, they could have been something amazing together. (The whole ”I suffered so I will make sure no-one else will” vs ”I suffered so why shouldn't they?” approach in action there.)

I’m very weak for this, okay, and my brain often tells me delightful stories where they just snark endlessly at each other and it’s beautiful.

NoTP: Dahlia x Hudson, as much as this pains me to admit because I love Hudson so much and am a thot, but I feel like in plotting/writing about Dahlia her initial crush on Hudson is something she needs to get over because there’s no like substance behind it and for a while it gets in the way of establishing anything that could be a genuine connection between them. She likes Hudson because Hudson is pretty and has been nice to her, even if it’s just minor exchanges. Most people who’re really nice to Dahlia are either really old by her standards (Like Whitehorse becoming a dad figure) or are trying to get something out of her. So, Hudson not rushing to harass the probie and being a mature, kind, and attractive person in Dahlia’s life led to her first little crush. And to me as Dahlia gets more genuine connections, building a pseudo family with the resistance, those butterflies and warm and fuzzy crush feelings of Hudson will fade cause well, lots of people are pretty and nice to her, now, the standards for a romantic crush will rise. And I think them ending up together would undermine that progress.

Sometimes!! honestly I usually just play whatever earworm I have going on, or whatever song i have going through my head. Recently it’s been either sinners by lauren aquilina, the playlist of scottish/irish folk music i have, and ‘sea shanties for thots’ playlist from spotify

hhhhhhhhhhhh I am an absolute sucker for Embers by vathara (an atla fic), honestly. It’s a fic I’ve read multiple times (which is a feat considering it sits at a hefty 704k words and 91 chapters).

Close runner up would probably be yesterday upon the stair by pitviperofdoom (a bnha fic) which I read as it was updating and was on the absolute edge of my seat the entire time. 10/10 loved every bit of it

And then it hasn’t actually been published but anyone who enjoys star wars should check out anabasis by fialleril !! They’ve posted a lot of snippets as they write and are also responsible for the double agent vader series on ao3 which I greatly enjoy. Honestly check out their blog anyway if you enjoy star wars, they do a lot of really interesting stuff with culture, especially regarding tattooine

I also love a lot of Shanastoryteller’s work - I could read gods and monsters (greek myth retellings) a dozen times and never get times of it tbh.

oof bich i thot abt this, this is how they found lil maggie-pie!!!

They'd be somewhere, I imagine they've found a way to fix Odin's sun, but they need a special ingredient for a spell, which is what lead them to the planet theyre on right now.

The Demon Squad would be sleeping at some inn somewhere. By this point Ava and Maggie were on speaking terms, conversing in Maggie's headspace. But then there'd be snow, and a chilling breezing coming from a Square stained glass window embedded in the bark of a tree. The two of them go in and are greated to a mountainous snowy land. they hear what sounds like scrapping and find Magpie ice skating while humming to herself.

"That must be Magpie!"

"Who?"

"Odin's missing sister!"

"Odin's missing a sister?"

Ava rolls her eyes and cautiously approaches her. Magpie of course is surprised to see random people in her headspace. Shes never met another host up to this point besides her brother, and this never happened with him. Ava and Maggie introduce themselves and tell Magpie that they're with Odin searching for a way to fix Aedinfell. Magpie's eyes soften.

"Odin's here?"

"Yes. And he misses you very much"

Magpie would be silent for a long while before giving Ava something. A necklace with what looked like a fox pendant on it.

"Thank you for taking care of my brother, but I don't need any distractions. Give this to my brother, tell him I love him and I'll be home soon. But you really need to leave here."

Her eyes would go blue and an icy hail storm start blowing Maggie and Ava awake. Ava would immediately run to Odin and wake him up.

"H-huh? Ave? W-what are you..."

"We saw your sister!"

"What?!" He shoots up.

"Magpie! We saw her in our souls. She gave me this!" She gives him the necklace and Odin studies it. It was their families crest on it. "She's somewhere close, otherwise me and maggie wouldnt have seen her. Odin she's somewhere here!"

You know for a fact Odin would start running around like a headless chicken lookin fof his sister.

I’m like 2 episodes away from the violinist princess getting redeemed in Go Princess PreCure but I stan Yui so hard that in my eyes, Towa is the reason that Yui isn’t able to become the Princess of Music & Art

An unpopular opinion: I really liked how the Homare has a crush on Harry plot was handled. Maybe it’s because I remember/was in Homare’s position once (16/17 year old me was hot for teacher lol), I really liked how she found closure for herself without having to confess her feelings. I dislike how vehemently fandom will deny that this plotline even took place because I think young girls, who will develop crushes on unattainable/older men, need to be shown stories of how to handle those feelings without placing themselves in danger of being preyed on.

My canon OTP: Akira/Yukari (look, if the dub had to ungay them, that must make them canon)

Non-canon OTP: gonna give this to Ichika/Himari because I shipped them before Emiru was introduced I’m p sure so they get seniority privileges

Pairing I am not a fan of: tbh I think I can give most precure ships a chance but I did see some Smile PreCure ships where I’m ehhh on. I only like Nao/Reika from that set. all the others should stick to being friends.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): I think this goes without saying but Hana. Saaya, and Homare got super screwed over by Hugtto having a lot of Emiru/Lulu subplots. Also, Yui. She should have gone PreCure.

Favourite friendship: I mostly read said friendship as romantic but Emiru and Lulu……… they’re best friends oh my god

when or if I started shipping it: hmmmm middle of episode 1; definitely cemented by the end of episode 2 lol

my thoughts: I wrote a meta on them so I have a lot which mostly boils down to a lot of great symbolism between them gives them subtextual evidences, they hold hands a lot canonically so that’s cute, and it’s just a great ship

What makes me happy about them: Hikaru gets an alien girlfriend aND ITS FANTASTIC

What makes me sad about them: the Hikoboshi and Orihime parallels between them heavily implies that sometime in the future, they will separate and they will only have miniscules chances of continually/regularly seeing each other thereafter ;v;

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: me, who owns a lot of property in the hikalala fanfic tag on ao3, jack and shit, babe!

Things I look for in fanfic: anything which accentuates Lala’s alien-ness

My kinks: look… Lala can generate electricity…. that gives a lot of stimulation play scenarios but mostly… nah

My happily ever after for them: they go off traipsing the universe, exploring. Hikaru takes after her father and writes a book on her travels whilst Lala uses the information to update the Saman Planet AI because I’d love to see a plot twist where the AI isn’t quite as benevolent as Lala trusts it is so she takes it upon herself to remedy it (using the Rainbow Planet Tragedy as a catalyst for said goal or as foreshadowing towards it)

Himari Arisugawa

How I feel about this character: I was expecting to fall totally head over heels in love with either Aoi or Yukari since their animal motifs are both feline and I’m a major cat person but instead, Himari managed to steal my heart before either of them got the chance. I super relate to her and see a lot of myself and some of my struggles (particularly in social situations) in her. so yeah. I love my squirrel daughter.

My non-romantic OTP for this character: no one in canon springs to mind…  which brings to mind something else… so this is out of the left-field but I had a dream once where Spectre met all the KiraKira PreCure A La Mode girls but it was Himari whom he bonded the most with in said dream (kind of “I’ve only had Himari for five minutes but if anything happened to her, I’d kill everyone in this room and then myself” type situation or maybe its more comparable to the reaction image of the samurai dude (spectre) with the cat (himari)). anyway long story short, her and spectre because if one favourite character makes me happy then two makes me even happier.

My unpopular opinion about this character: she is the best girl of KiraKira PreCure A La Mode.

One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon: can’t remember if this happens or not but I swear KiraKira forgot at some point that the girls gained animal characteristics (so, in Himari’s case, her superspeed) so I would have liked to see that explored more. also in a kind of Tokyo Mew Mew twist, I would have liked to see Himari (and by extension, all the girls) deal with their new animal natures in their civilian forms too… like, this might be too lore heavy for PreCure but I would have liked to see Himari (and I guess this applies to all the girls) deal with becoming “part fairy” (just like Pekorin and Ciel had to deal with becoming part human). TLDR: more Squirrel characteristics from Himari, please!!! because I am a furry!!!!

My OT3: i don’t have any but if I was at gunpoint, the options I suppose I could live with are Rio/Ichika/Himari (gee, Ichika, who let you have a girlfriend AND a boyfriend) or Aoi/Himari/Ichika because apparently Aoi/Himari is a semi-popular ship???

Favorite thing about them:his design! its one of blazblue’s most powerful designs, incredibly original and authentic as well. ive even heard this from people who hate blazblue hh

Least favorite thing about them: his unreasonable attitude! he doesn’t listen to anyone, just does whatever he wants and believes in - it’s admirable in some ways but in general just really egoistic. it was used as a plot roadblock way too many times…

Take one more good look.”brOTP: Hakumen /w Jubei; you can’t tell me they didn’t develop a sense of comradery during the Dark War! honestly him with anyone in the Six Heroes (minus Kazuma/Terumi) would work just as well but i’d like to think him and Jubei have the potentional to become venting buddies !OTP: Hakumen/Accepting Tsubaki’s dead wasn’t his faultnOTP: I don’t know, people don’t really ship him much?

Random headcanon: i think Hakumen really valued the Six Heroes (except for Kazuma/Terumi). yes, he comes off as cold and uncaring but i think that side of him was born from losing Tsubaki in his timeline. working together with the Six Heroes was kind of .. mandatory for defeating the Black Beast but i think he valued fighting alongside allies he could trust and rely on again, working together for a 100 years or so only strengthened this bond

however, after they all fell apart and/or died and he got banned into the boundary, he has grown more cynical and cold towards the idea of working together as the result of losing/failing to protect his comrades again - sparing himself for the same fate he has come to see as the inevitable

Unpopular opinion: hakumen ain’t a thot slayer, he is the thot defender 😤😤

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping? I’ll do anything to be damn honest lmao. I’ve written with some very... shitty partners (that wrote Shuria) and went way beyond the limit. How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable? Ten years is reasonable. The age of consent should also be a given. Moreover, in medieval/ancient verses, I will not write ships with underage (less than 18) muses irregardless if it “was normal back then.” Miss me with that pedophile shit! Are you selective when shipping? Within reason, I think I am, yes. As in, I wouldn’t write any ship-related roleplays about ships that I’m not interested in. I don’t expect you to, either, I suppose. Alex is a THICC BITCH and I would ship him with other muses very often but if you don’t want us to then do tell me, same as I would rather not write a ship I don’t feel like it. Worth mentioning, I am more selective when shipping with women: Alexander is bisexual and definitely attracted to women, however I, the writer, am homosexual and have an easier time shipping with male characters than otherwise. death note for the musical asks?

the first song from this show I heard: The Game Begins, I think? I think I was looking up Junsu’s work in Dracula because I’m a thot for that musical and was like, “…Wait a second? Death Note? Frank Wildhorn? THE FUCK?” do I own the cast album?: Yes. favorite song: Either When Love Comes or Stalemate. least favorite song: (Don’t shoot me!) “Hero”. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a SOLID song, it’s pretty much the only real bit of development we get for Light’s sister so it’s important, and it’s important as far as establishing Misa. I can’t really say there aren’t any solid songs in this musical, because this is honestly imo Frank Wildhorn at his best (probably because I strongly, strongly suspect someone was holding his leash on it), but if I had to choose, it would probably be this one. favorite character: REM. least favorite character: Light motherfucking Yagami. Thank God this musical gave us the ending we deserved to see after dealing with him for two hours. OTP: Misa/Rem. BROTP: I’m honestly really intrigued by the Rem/Ryuk…friendship? I have a hard time really calling it that, since they’re not exactly FRIENDS, but like…brother/sister, favorite prank victim/prank mastermind? I don’t THINK Ryuk cares all that much, given that he almost seems to be taunting her during the “Mortals and Fools” Reprise, but I think there are different ways you can spin that? I don’t know, but it’s one of the elements that the musical kind of gave us that wasn’t there anywhere else, which now I’m really kind of curious about.NOTP: Misa/Light and Misa/L. Making Misa a much more sympathetic character really, really highlighted how badly the male characters tend to treat her. Like, in the series proper, she essentially blackmails Light, so it’s not exactly a healthy relationship for all ends involved, even after they’ve been together for years. But here…the dynamics change a lot. song I didn’t like at first but now do: “Honor Bound.” I’m blunt that most of the time I’m really fond of the fast, intense songs over slower, more thoughtful songs; it’s why I think I tend to like Wildhorn’s stuff, despite regularly calling him out whenever I get the opportunity, but when you actually LISTEN to what’s going on in Honor Bound…wow. song I used to like but now don’t: I get a little tired of “Playing His Game” being propped instead of “Stalemate,” since they both deal with essentially the same vibe and I tend to prefer the 3-part structure of Stalemate (I would marry when Misa comes on stage and joins them, but I can’t really say that I actually DISLIKE it? Like, again, I can’t really say I dislike anything in this musical, and it’s not even really at my lower end and I can understand why it gets the appreciation it has? Like, (1) It probably better encapsulates the L-Light conflict that drives the plot, (2) It’s a hell of a lot easier to do at concerts, since you only need two people, and (3) It’s hella gay. is the fandom annoying?: I think we’re all too busy going “NO REALLY IT’S GOOD IF YOU’LL JUST–” to get into any discourse. do I read/write fanfic for this show?: I’ve read all the musical-specific fanfic I can get ahold of. I’d consider writing fanfic, even though imo I’m really not sure what I would actually DO besides maybe give Rem and Misa the ending they deserve and have Light’s family deal with the ramifications of the finale, but tbh I’m much happier dealing with things that happened more than a hundred years ago.favorite non-sung line: “I’m Kira, damn it!
