The Outlander 31 Day Challenge: Day 28
Day 28: Most romantic moment
Tumblr media
The pinnacle episode for me, The Wedding! Especially for Jamie to have made all of the preparations that he did prior to this moment. He made sure she had a dress, and that he wore his family’s tartan. He had a ring made for her from his key, and insisted their wedding take place in a church. He wanted this moment to mean something, and to be perfect for them both. When you consider how early on in their relationship this all took place, it’s even more romantic!

TW: Discussion of unnecessary vulgarity in Game of Thrones
Let’s count the vulgarities in ep 1:
Two beheadings
1000000000 naked women
Two close-up sex scenes
One implied rape (with some nudity)
Two incestuous relationships (one implied, one with sex literally shown and it was DRY HUMPING IN A CAVE)
95% of this vulgarity was completely unnecessary and removing it would make it far more watchable. I’m not a prude, but seriously, this shit is WEIRD. All this in ONE EPISODE. I thought Outlander’s rape scene was bad, but this is so much worse. Outlander had some brutality but it didn’t take away from the plot; I could still focus on it. Here, it’s like they’re shoving it in your face.
Not only is there an insane amount of nudity, but it’s only the women who are portrayed nude. Fucking disgusting. This dwarf is out here having a fucking FOURSOME with three butt naked women.
If you want me to know that the Targeryns are incestuous, you could have the brother touch her intimately in a way that shows he wants her sexually and even romantically. But just having him STRIP her out of nowhere? Seriously?
Also that scene where Daenerys is crying and Aquaman is stripping her…so horrifying. Like why. Why why why.
And stupid me thinking they wouldn’t show the actual beheading AND THEY SHOWED THE ENTIRE THING. Why did they need to show two beheadings? You could’ve had him bring the sword down with the sound in the background letting us know he was beheaded. Keep the camera zoomed in on the kid to let us know he watched. Why do WE need to watch? We’re not the fucking kid. And that random guy who wasn’t beheaded like the other two but they showed his death at Daenarys’s wedding too. Like wtf???
And why. Why have the queen in an incestuous relationship too? Why?
I’ve heard the books are even worse, and I’ve just gotta wonder if this author had a thing for his siblings because what in the actual fuck.
Also can I just say the sex scenes are so horrifyingly gross and icky and they make me wanna throw up?
Literally I watched one episode and I don’t think I can continue because it’s so gross.

Exploring 2024 SDCC
Greetings all!
Before 2024 San Diego Comic-Con fades in the rear view mirror, I want to share some of the things I have learned and experienced about SDCC over the years.
I attended my first DSCC in 2017. I had intended to go in 2016 but my husband planned a surprise trip to Scotland in honor of our 53rd wedding anniversary!
No complaints because I had a grand time. Don’t want to get distracted from my mission, but here’s a few photos to explain why I chose Scotland in 2016.
We visited the stand in for Craigh na Du.  A lovely, quiet, tree-covered mound with a lot of sheep. In the distance you can see Loch Rannoch (photo, left), the site where Claire and Ned Gowan (ep 105) quote from the poet John Donne.
Tumblr media
Next is the shop window where Claire contemplates buying a pair of vases (ep 101). The site was supposedly Inverness but the filming actually took place in the village of Falkland in Fife. I have too many links to share the entire post here, so please visit us on the blog. I promise you'll enjoy the read and pics!
A deeply grateful,
Outlander Anatomist

Your fav 3 episodes from Outlander ?
The order has changed over time, but the top three have remained the same since the first time I watched.
Runners up: 608 - I Am Not Alone. 213 - Dragonfly in Amber. 101 - Sassenach. 202 - Not in Scotland Anymore. 512 - Never My Love.
3. 109 - The Reckoning - It's got the best of everything: fights, fury, affection, love, and sex. The hair-pulling kiss is the best kiss that's ever graced a television screen.
2. 107 - The Wedding - Beautifully done. We were rooting for them before that ep, but we fell in love with them as the episode progressed in a much deeper, more meaningful manner. Perfect television.
1. 306 - A. Malcolm - The best hour+ of television ever filmed. It's genuinely the definitive high point of all 7 seasons for me. The agony of their decades apart put so much on the line, and then we actually got PAY OFF for our suffering. I'm not an angst whore for the sake of wallowing in pain. I endure angst for the sake of the rush of long-term fulfillment. A. Malcolm had so much riding on it, and it was executed beautifully. The build up & the fulfillment. I'll never forget the way I felt the first time watching. I dream of the day media can make me feel this way again.

Has anyone written an Andreil Outlander wedding scene?
-Neil (who can be a time traveler but it's really not necessary for the purposes of this) has just survived a close call with the Bad Guys (could be some iteration of the Moriyamas / Nathan's people depending on whether he is from the future or not) and is left wounded and bleeding and exhausted when
-Oh fuck, great, just what he needed, another group of riders appears
-It's Andrew with some of his people (the Foxes)
-After catching Neil when he tries to run and questioning him, they determine he is not an immediate threat and decide to take him somewhere safe to treat his wounds before they send him on his merry way
-Neil, after a homoerotic scene of Andrew tending to his wounds, realizes this is a strong clan that might be able to protect him, so after a few days of healing and back and forth with Andrew he gives him some of his half-truths
-Andrew, after deciding Neil is not a danger to his people, offers him his protection
-This decision is met with some protest (Seth, Aaron) but ultimately accepted
-Someone (Wymack / Renee) takes Andrew aside, explains that while his promise is noble and all, unless Neil is part of the clan they will have no claim over him to protect him with if other people come looking for him, and he wasn't born one of them so the only way to become one is to marry into the clan
-It is decided it should be Andrew (he wouldn't let anyone else do it, he knows he won't touch Neil just because they're married and he can protect himself against Neil if need be. And if he has a teeny tiny crush then what about it >:()
-Neil considers just leaving and spending the rest of his life running after all, but the promise of a home, of these people who love each other so obviously and fiercely becoming family, is so tempting he makes the probably foolish mistake of staying, figures if it all goes to shit he can just run away at any time
-And then the thing that made me think about this in the first place: THE WEDDING. Neil, wondering whether he's signing his life sentence, knowing his mom would kill him if she could see him now, yet still... can't help but feel reassured as he looks into Andrew’s solemn, steady eyes, as he listens to his promises of care and protection and permanence, things Neil has never known and is still not convinced this man can give him. Sharing blood and tying their hands together, "You are blood of my blood and bone of my bone"
-(+ callback scene from season 7 ep 3) Decades later, after they've obviously fallen in love and So Much has happened (not necessarily what actually happens in Outlander), Andrew gifts Neil a knife, cuts his thumb with it to teach it its purpose. Neil does the same, presses their thumbs together, says, "Blood of my blood", kisses him.

For Outlander 31 day challenge, day 4.
Favorite Fergus Scene
(Forgive the formatting… new to Tumblr and on mobile)
I love young Fergus for all his mischief, his inter actions with Murtagh, Claire, and Jamie. But older Fergus is wonderful. You can tell he still idolizes milord. After a lifetime of being through one trauma after another he’s still able to be a dashing, charming, funny man. He’s brave in his criminal undertakings. He’s loyal. And he’s smitten.
My favorite is his wedding scene from season 3 ep 11, Uncharted. Though Marsali really shines here in comedy, it’s Fergus that brings the heartwarming factor. Through the start of the wedding he’s taking the bit about his hand without offense or anger. Then it comes to his name… he’s at a loss because he doesn’t have a name to give his wife. The genuine smile that blooms when Jamie gives him a name is so sweet. He then give his new name with pride, like he’s been wishing for this for 20 years. And he’s just so damn cute for the remainder of the ceremony. He’s had such a hard life and I love that his wedding (when they finally get to it) brings him so much joy.

last song: I’ve been very into “My Best Friend’s Weddings” by the Chicks this month (my top track on spotify). the song i literally just listened to was “Donal agus Morag” by Altan (I just watched the ep of Derry Girls where they encounter an Irish speaker and it inspired me to listen to my Irish playlist. I have, intermittently, over the years, attempted to learn Irish myself)
last show/series: Gilmore Girls rewatch
currently watching: Derry Girls season 3, and I’m catching up on Abbott Elementary. (edit: And Bake-Off! I forgot!)
favorite color: pink
sweet, spicy, or savory: i’ve got a terrible sweet tooth
currently reading: I just finished Clanlands by Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish, who co-star on Outlander–– it’s a travelogue about a trip they took around Scotland together. I found them a bit annoying as people sometimes, but their love of Scotland and its history got me through. My heart’s in the Highlands, wherever I go.
what i'm working on: I have an ongoing multichap for Ted Lasso which I hope to finish before season 3 (since i started it before season 2, ha ha... multichaps were a mistake) and also a ficlet for the Halloween 1p4a
currently obsessed with: Ted Lasso, of course. Also, watching how the leaves are changing each day on the route I walk to work.

I believe the Wedding episode (1x08) is a particularily big Outlander ep in the fandom, widely regarded as one of the best. Perhpaps try to watch until then and see if it keeps your interest?
Wedding of Claire and Jamie? Or whose wedding we're talking about here?
I'm sorry😅 just wanted a bit of clearance.
Thanks for your response😊

the first season of Outlander is really good but i find it so funny they painted it as like there being a love triangle between Claire, Frank, and Jaime when Claire pretty much forgot about Frank after her wedding

The Outlander 31 Day Challenge: Day 22
Day 22: Favorite Jamie + Claire kiss
Tumblr media
How does one possibly choose?! But I have to go with this one, because to me this is when Claire realizes how real things are between her and Jamie, and it’s a kiss of love and promise, rather than lust or duty. It’s always been one of my favorite moments where these two communicate their emotions so clearly without a word being spoken between them.

Just finished watching A.Malcolm a few minutes ago and adored it! Loved the similarities between their first time after 20 years apart and the first time they made love for real ❤❤❤

Starz officially confirmed the Outlander prequel series titled Blood of My Blood is in development. The writers’ room has officially opened on the new drama series that will follow the love story of Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.
Speculation about an Outlander prequel began last summer when Deadline reached out to Starz about the project though they declined to confirm at that time.
Matthew B. Roberts will write Outlander: Blood of My Blood and will serve as showrunner and executive producer. He is also the showrunner and executive producer for the flagship series which is currently in production on Season 7.
Maril Davis will also executive produce the prequel with Ronald D. Moore, who developed Outlander for TV, under their production banner Tall Ship Productions. Story Mining & Supply Company will also EP with Diana Gabaldon, whose novels inspired the franchise, serving as a consulting producer.
Gabaldon revealed in February she’s writing a prequel book about Jamie’s parents.
“Outlander is a riveting show that from season to season has captured the hearts of its fans around the world,” said Kathryn Busby, President, Original Programming at Starz. “We are excited to peel back the layers of this vibrant world to bring our audience the origin of where it all began. Matthew, Maril, and Ronald will continue to bring their excellent vision and creativity to this new iteration, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.”
Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be produced by Sony Pictures Television. Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Karen Bailey will oversee the prequel on behalf of Starz.
Remember… she and my father slipped out of the castle right under the noses of 300 clansmen. And my father loved telling that story. — Jamie Fraser, Outlander S01E07 The Wedding
