The Traveler

There is something surreal and timeless about

standing at a crossroads or a railway station

in the darkness, in the snow, in the rain, alone

and waiting, staring down the road, the line,

into the murk, with blank trust as your sole

companion, the belief that things will happen

as they are supposed to, according to tradition,

a time-table, the waxing and waning of a moon,

because what if it doesn’t? What if you are left

standing naked and afraid draped in uncertainty?

and then out of the mist comes a sound, a light,

and your ride shows up on time like a ghost,

like Dracula’s carriage, like the past and future

coming together to take you to somewhere else,

and for one otherworldly moment, it all comes

together, and you are part of something other.

Out of the Mist was originally meant to be a temporary title for the song, almost a joke: it was given by Luna with the foggy Pianura Padana in mind. Banshee then decided she wanted to write lyrics for that song keeping the title, but with a different meaning: the mist as the uncertainty from which we try to emerge in life. The lyrics were written as a form of revenge on ourselves, going through fire and shame to find a better self and a renewed sense of freedom from the past. ((Me either. I mean, I'd assume that there's a generic 'universal' language, considering it's so easy to travel between regions and the fact that in X/Y they were throwing in random bits of French, suggesting that they weren't already speaking Kalosian to the player. 

But then it brings up the question of if different Japanese-based regions have separate languages or just dialects... And the of course it brings into the fact that other languages like Icelandic and German are, at this point, either from somewhere in the available regions (like how I think I wrote at one point that Brynja would claim to be from Almia because it's a lesser known one where her language would be particularly foreign outside of) or from places that people have generally never heard of....))
