I’m back on Cape Cod for a few days and there’s part of me that always feels like I’m coming home when I come out here. I had a great aunt who lived here when I was young and we visited her a lot. Often dad would rend a camping spot for a few bucks and we’d bike into Provincetown for the day before crashing in the tent. My childhood memories are sandy with a touch of something tempting and illicit.

And then, in college, I spent a summer working my ass off at a store in town and then staying up way too late before doing it all over again. It was a wonderful three months of exploration, learning to sail, hot gay sex, failed flirtations, complicated relationships, and those sweet glorious hot afternoons working in the hammock shop on the bay.

So here we are again until Sunday and I’m finally slowing down and starting to remember how to think. 

And on Saturday, we eat oysters!

We are fielding many questions around this festival, and we ask everyone for their continued patience! Hosting 2 large festivals in 2 weeks with Covid-19 policies is challenging. As noted before, the dates for this years TVOF are August 13-15th, and the festival will take place on the RTB Event Grounds. We can’t wait to host the 2022 festival inside the new rink! TICKETS -For those people who transferred their Full Festival VIP ticket (TVOF + RTB) from 2020, will receive a weekend pass to the 2021 Tyne Valley Oyster Festival. A separate ticket will be issued soon. -Weekend passes for the 2021 Tyne Valley Oyster Festival will be available soon. EVENTS -We are continuing conversations with CPHO in being able to host some of our most traditional events. We are pleased to say that the PEI Trivia Championship, PEI Oyster Grading Championship, The Canadian Oyster Shucking Championship, Pageant, Community Awards, and Family events will be taking place. -We are developing plans for our Community Parade to take place. However, as of right now, it will not be the same as previous years. Pre-registration for floats/entries will be available soon. -Fried Oyster / Scallop Suppers will not be taking place as normal this year, however we are looking at alternative methods for these delicious meals. -All other events of the festival are yet to be decided at this time and an announcement on those will be decided soon. What To Expect at Steamhouse Oysterfest 2022

Oh shucks! The biggest street party in Atlanta is BACK for the 34 annual Steamhouse Oysterfest on February 26 and 27. All seafood lovers are invited for two days of food and fun, and to make things easier, we’re here to provide all the details. From location and time to Oysterfest history, this guide will give you everything you need to know for a successful Oysterfest 2022.

When

The 34th rendition of Steamhouse Oysterfest will take place on Saturday, February 26 and Sunday, February 27, 2022. Activities begin at 11 a.m. daily, so you can stay all day or pop in for a beer and a bite! Whenever you arrive, make sure you come with an empty stomach!

Where

This year’s Oysterfest will be located just two blocks away from Steamhouse Lounge at the corner of Peachtree Street & 12th Street in Midtown. The entrance location is at  Peachtree St & 12th St.

Make sure you’re ready to get messy. If you’re looking for another option, don’t fear, more seafood is here! Enjoy Steamhouse’s famous Lobster Bisque or a Po’boy. Tickets

There are two different ticket options for this year’s Oysterfest. Standard two day tickets are available for $25 plus fees. If two days seems too daunting, you can buy a half-price ticket for Sunday for $15 plus fees. Those under 21 are more than welcome to attend if they’re accompanied by an adult, so bring the whole family to enjoy.

Oysterfest History

Steamhouse Oysterfest is celebrating its 34th year, and has been serving up oysters since 1988. This event has brought thousands of people from near and far to celebrate their love of shucking oysters. Known as the original Atlanta Oysterfest, Steamhouse Oysterfest has led to the creation of other Oysterfests across the city. Good thing there are plenty of fish (and oysters) in the sea.
