My mom fills socks with rice and heats them up in the microwave.
Needs someone else to do that part but it’s really nice like a hot water bottle but different.
You can also buy pre-made things that have similar functionality that might be easier to use that are either weighted or unweighted.
Small electric heating pad is lovely has buttons I can turn on and off on my own and the size is maybe 1 square foot easier to use. My partner and I each have one in different colors.
Also a fan of those things that go in the freezer like ice packs but they have oorbeez like gel balls inside fun to squish and temperature sensation is fun but you have to be careful with it.
One of my legs and some other parts of my body can’t feel temperature much because of nerve damage etc and i can get hurt if not careful when using so it’s important to be able to push it off onto floor when done with ice pack like item or turn it off if using electric item.
My partner also bought me a vibrating chewy stim toy meant for oral desensitizing because I have sensory issues brushing teeth throw up sometimes because my gag reflex, it might be made by ark therapeutic maybe and I like chewing on it. I have jaw issues like TMJ so I have to be careful not to hurt myself but I often chew through soft rated toys and get pain from hard ones so I like that this toy has a swappable top so I can keep switching on new soft ones to use with the same vibrating base.
When I was little maybe elementary school I did occupational therapy but don’t remember much of it. Do remember being brushed and going into a stretchy sack. Hope that helps.
This is all really helpful thank you!

her bump looks so small here but there isn’t much time before she gives birth for the first time (i don’t know if there was a glitch or something but her bump didn’t look that big until she was literally in labor) she is still so nervous and feels a little unprepared considering she is still a teen, living on her own.

i just talk about getting a tooth extracted below, i don’t give too much detail but i understand if you want to skip on reading it 💚
i’ve had a crazy last couple of days and only playing off and on so i don’t have the most screenshots for every going on but i hope to catch up with posts to my gameplay soon. today’s activities included going to an oral surgeon and getting a tooth extracted… not fun. i’m glad i took the whole day off work though. i didn’t play as much sims as i would have liked though because a couple hours after getting home i was OUT until my boyfriend got off work. he woke me up so i could take some painkillers and made me some soup 🥹 i am feeling like 70% ok right now which is a lot better than i expected. i have tmj so my jaw hurts more from being open that wide for so long than where the tooth was pulled but i think the numbing has fully worn off by now and im just surviving to each pain med times and with my ice pack lol ive never had a tooth pulled before so i had no idea what to except. didn’t cry though 😎

CloverCoin Artpack 2024 March + Updates
[PATREON POST + ART PACK] Hey everyone... I see March is rounding the corner to being over and I realized I never actually make an official patreon post yet. A lot has been happening on our end / IRL. We recently found our we might need to move this summer... But thanks to a lot of back and forth between us and the new landlord we got a lease extension for 1 year to prepare our savings and safely move out to another place in town or around this town we are currently living in. After a lot of discussion between my husband and I, we're really struggling to find rental single family homes that fit our disability needs AND budget. Rent bubble in our area is about 70% more than our current rent which... is mind blowing. But we are determined! With further discussion we think we agree, we'd like to buy a house to make sure our needs are met and that we can take care of our senior dogs without having our lives uprooted without notice. So our belts are going to be really tight over the next year while we try to scrimp and save every penny to go towards our goal to purchase a house next year. That is scary but also so exciting! Wish us luck, we're going to need every lick of it to pull this off. ~~~ Other worse news... The reason why I've been struggling these past few weeks. My family has been reaching out to me and it's official. My mother has a terminal cancer diagnosis. I do not live near her, so I would like to budget a trip out to see her at some point this summer. We don't have any real time lines yet until we see how to reacts to chemo treatment. She's just started that this month. So that's been a weird tangle of emotions and talking with my siblings about what we expect out of all this. How we each can help in what ways we can. One of my older sisters is taking control of talking with the doctors and updating us since my mother is extremely avoidant about talking about her illnesses. At this time I won't be taking any time off from working and doing adopts/commissions. We need the money more than ever, even just to go fly or drive up to see her. But I will update on patreon/discord when I'm taking a week or so off to visit her. ~~~ More middling news? Our two senior dogs, Ollie and Junior, have been having little health scares this year. Feels like 2024 just started and so much has happened! Ollie has been diagnosed with a heart murmur and is on medication now to help treat it. Diet and life style changes as well to help him stay fit. Junior may have had a small seizure or stroke, for 2 days he was not able to stand or walk which really scared us. Both have been to the vet multiple times this year and are being watched VERY closely. I just hope nothing happens to them before we find them a new house to live in. (knocks on wood) ~~~ I myself am having some medical issues but... Just with everything going on I just haven't had time to assign myself with a new clinic and new gp. My new health insurance won't let me see the old one anymore and it's EXTREMELY disruptive to my whole life. So there's a chance my body might get a flat tire in the future, but I'll try to manage it accordingly. To end it all on a good note, I did finally finish my very last tooth filling / replacement and after a year and a half of constant dentist visits, my mouth is all fixed! Hooray!!!! Now we just have to tackle my jaw and TMJ problems haha. ~~~ I think... that's the big items of what's going on. Why I've been really absent online and for updates. Life just kinda had a weird downpour on us, but we're sorting it out. We signed a new lease. Prov is working very hard at his new job. The future is really scary for me right now and I'm really struggling. Please be patient with me while we go through these big life changes at this time. I'll be opening up new commission slots soon to start a monthly income to help with house savings. If anyone has pending commissions with me or trades, please never hesitate to DM me/poke me for updates. I've been a lot more disorganized more than usual lately and I am happy to give any updates or refunds as needed should anything come up that I can't handle. Sorry bout the long read everyone, but thank you so much for skimming through and keeping up with what's going on in my life. I've been desperately missing art more and more every day I spend away from it, so I look forward to sharing even more art with you all! Thank yo everyone for all your support! AJD . ART

honey i’m so sorry that’s happening. i was going through the same thing a while ago. it’s okay if none of those things work. just “taking a bath” doesn’t work with depression. some meds didn’t work for me either. it’s important to remember that meds don’t work for a lot of people. it’s okay to try new ones and switch them. i tried like three different ones and dosages before finding one that worked for me. it takes time to heal and im sure these people reminding you of your problems don’t make you feel any better. it’s okay to feel upset. i probably can’t make you feel different about yourself but i can say i’ve gone through that. so many people have and you are not alone. it’s very very hard to believe but it does get better. i’m sure you’ve heard that millions of times before, but it does.
as for the nicotine, it’s hard to get off that kind of stuff. habits are hard to break. i understand that. i was the same with sh. i don’t have much experience with that kind of addiction, but i can recommend nicotine gum and patches.
one thing that helped me when i felt like i was going to do something was remind myself how many people would miss me. how my dog would stand by the window wondering where i went because she didn’t understand. how my parents and friends would mourn me and miss me.
it’s okay to reach out for help and you’ve done so much already by getting a therapist. it’s okay to switch therapists. i had to go through about four before i found my right one.
you are doing amazing by letting these feelings out and it’s okay to feel this way. so many people care about you. i know it’s hard to believe but it will get better. it may take days, months, years, but it will. i know it’s frustrating and i know none of this might help but i want you to know there are people like you out there who are going through this.
additionally, you should add the suicide hotline to your phone, i did it and it’s a good emergency plan. one thing you can also try on tumblr is kokobot, it’s anonymous and it’s a whole bot about venting.
you’ve got this love. stay strong<33
Ive been on so many meds im not qualified to get weed legally in the uk i lost count of how many ive been thru and these ones do good.. but they dont always work and my drs just keep upping my dosage im on 350 quitiapine and 150 sertraline along with 100mgs of instant activate quitiapine and honestly if it werent for my bf and the animals i wouldve dipped a long time ago but ik no one will look after them as well as i do
Unfortunately im allergic to nicotine patches and i cant actually have chewing hum due to my tmj i tried the spray but it instantly made me throw yp everytime i tried it so i packed it in and it was our first day i felt shitty bc we went straight into my trauma (first person ive ever told what actually happened) so i was dealing w that after along w flashbacks shes rlly sweet though and was really kind to me it was just a heavy session
And funnily enough i have tried two hotlines and both hung up on me so that was gucci mane 💃 but thank you i really appreciate it and i hope you have a great day

hii!! im a dental assistant, i just wanted to advise privately that they probably will not be able to do treatment the same day BUT you can at least call and request a short appointment for an antibiotic if you have no already been rx'd one, or need a different type. go ahead and advise that you have difficulty opening your mouth; if its a molar they may rx a muscle relaxant dependent on med hx and it seems tmj related. pain can cause tmj flareups, but massages to the jaw and temples in the shower with warm water can help tremendously, as well as alternating with a heat pack and a cold pack- additionally, if you're able to take tylenol and ibuprofen, you can rotate those interchangeably ( ex take max dose tylenol, take max dose ibuprofen if/when pain persists ). the general rule of thumb is 100mg = 1 hour until the next dose ( ex 800mg = 8 hours later ).
sorry if this is repeated or unwarranted advice!! i just know its very painful. what youre experiencing is very real, and the financial struggle is unfortunately not uncommon. if youre comfortable posting this and have any questions, ill keep my eye out for it. hang in there :(
thank you for the advice 😭 I'm gunna go ahead and get in the shower to try to massage it. my husband's making some mild soup so I can eat smtn before I take any pain killers, but they haven't been doing.. anything... so far so maybe this time will be different 🤞
I'm pretty sure there's no prying me open to get the tooth out tomorrow unless there's a miracle so antibiotics and maybe a muscle relaxer it is 😭

Here I go again. TMJ flare-up.
Most people need a night guard at night to keep from grinding etc. My issue is daytime jaw clenching. I actually wake up with my jaw feeling pretty good and by the time I go to bed it’s been hurting for hours. (When I’m in a flare-up)
I have a special ice pack I use at night that goes over my face, but I’m going to commit to doing the stretching exercises 5-10 times a day for  however long its needed during a flare-up. Then make it part of my morning, mid-afternoon, and evening stretching routine. Yes, I do stretches that often. Lol.. It’s been successful for my lower back pain.
I know my jaw muscles are used to being tense. They just are. At this point, it's their default position. So, I have to re-train them.
A specialist once told me that when I’m awake to set a timer for every 20 mins then do deep breathing exercises. He told me to do it for weeks until I was able to teach my jaw to be relaxed and not be tense all the time.
I’ve been battling anxiety and other mental health issues for years. I’m aware that this is where I store my stress. So, I’m going to try it. It sounded crazy, but I am sick of these flare-ups. And um, I was given this advice a year ago. Sigh.
The one thing I’ve learned when it comes to connection between  chronic pain and mental health is that there are ways to retrain your brain. It doesn't fix everything, but at least it is a tangible thing that I can have some control over. And see progress.
A timer, eh?
Here’s set of exercises that are useful. There’s more. But I need a goal that seems obtainable if I’m going to do them on a regular bases.
1> Stretching Exercises
When it comes to chewing and grinding, masticatory muscles play an important part. Stretching and massaging jaw muscles with fingertips for a few minutes at least ten times a day can offer relief.
Another simple jaw stretching exercise involves merely opening the mouth slowly and closing it. Open your mouth slowly and spread it as wide as possible, keep it in the open position for a few seconds, and close it slowly.
Moving the lower to the left and right sides slowly is another good way to stretch the TMJ.
2> Breathing Exercises
Also referred to as Equal Breathing, this simple form of breathing exercise requires the patient to inhale for four to five seconds, and then exhale slowly through the nose. It is considered the primary step toward reducing the amount of stress.
3> Forward Jaw Movement
The exercise involves placing a wooden stick or plastic spoon between the upper and lower front teeth and moving the lower jaw forward and backward. You can also move the jaw slowly to the left and right sides for a few minutes. Initially, you might experience some pain; however, the exercise would become more comfortable with time and help the jaw to recover.
4> Tongue Up
Tongue up involves placing the tip of the tongue on the mouth’s roof and gently applying pressure while slowly opening and closing the mouth at the same time. Doing it for a few minutes at least five to ten times a day can offer relief.
5> Partial Goldfish Exercise
It is almost similar to the goldfish exercise. Place the tip of the tongue on the mouth’s roof area. Then, the next step is placing your middle finger on the area below the chin and your thumb on the TMJ joint, in front of the ear. While your fingers are in position, let your lower jaw drop slowly and bring it up again to close the mouth. Repeat this exercise at least six times in one sitting

The Role of Physiotherapy in TMJ Disorder
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder can cause significant pain and discomfort in the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. While there are various treatment options available, physiotherapy has emerged as a valuable approach to managing TMJ disorders. In Pune, individuals dealing with TMJ issues can find relief and support from qualified physiotherapists who specialize in treating this condition.
Understanding TMJ Disorder:
TMJ disorder refers to a range of conditions affecting the temporomandibular joint, which connects the jawbone to the skull. Symptoms may include jaw pain, difficulty chewing or opening the mouth, clicking or popping sounds, headaches, and facial discomfort. Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in addressing these symptoms by focusing on pain reduction, improving jaw function, and promoting overall well-being.
The Role of Physiotherapy:
Physiotherapy offers a holistic and non-invasive approach to treating TMJ disorder. A physiotherapist in Pune will begin by conducting a comprehensive evaluation to understand the underlying causes and assess the severity of your condition. They will then develop a personalized treatment plan to address your specific needs.
Treatment Techniques:
Physiotherapy for TMJ disorder utilizes various techniques that aim to reduce pain, improve jaw mobility, and restore normal function. These may include:
1. Jaw exercises: The physiotherapist will prescribe specific exercises to strengthen and stretch the muscles around the jaw joint, promoting improved jaw movement and reducing muscle tension.
2. Manual therapy: Hands-on techniques, such as joint mobilization and soft tissue manipulation, can help increase joint mobility, alleviate pain, and release muscle tension.
3. Heat or cold therapy: The application of heat or cold packs to the jaw area can reduce pain, inflammation, and muscle spasm.
4. Ultrasound therapy: Ultrasound waves can penetrate deep into the tissues, promoting healing, improving blood flow, and reducing pain and inflammation.
5. Electrical stimulation: Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) involves the use of low-level electrical currents to relieve pain and relax muscles.
6. Posture correction: Correcting poor posture can alleviate strain on the jaw joint. Physiotherapists in Pune can provide guidance on proper head and neck alignment and ergonomic modifications.
7. Education and self-care: Physiotherapists will educate you about proper jaw mechanics, relaxation techniques, and self-care strategies, empowering you to manage your TMJ symptoms effectively.

Relief for TMJ: Effective Treatments and Therapies to Alleviate Jaw Pain
Temporomandibular joint disorder, commonly referred to as TMJ, affects millions of people worldwide. This condition can lead to significant discomfort and pain, often manifesting as jaw pain, headaches, and difficulty in chewing or speaking. The temporomandibular joint connects the jawbone to the skull, allowing for the complex movements necessary for daily activities like eating and talking. When this joint is compromised, it can result in a host of symptoms that can disrupt one’s quality of life. Understanding the various treatment options for TMJ is essential for those struggling with its effects, as there are numerous effective therapies available to alleviate discomfort and restore function.
Tumblr media
Understanding TMJ Disorder: Causes and Symptoms
Before delving into the various treatment for tjm, it is important to grasp the underlying causes and symptoms associated with this condition. TMJ disorders can arise from a variety of factors, including stress, teeth grinding (bruxism), arthritis, jaw injuries, or even misalignment of the teeth and jaw. The symptoms can vary widely from person to person, but common indicators include persistent jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds when opening or closing the mouth, difficulty in fully opening the mouth, headaches radiating from the jaw, and even earaches or neck pain. These symptoms can significantly impact daily life, making it essential to seek appropriate treatment. Often, individuals may not realize that their symptoms are related to TMJ until a comprehensive evaluation is conducted. Understanding your specific symptoms and their triggers can be vital in determining the most effective treatment strategy.
Initial Steps: Diagnosis and Assessment
The journey toward relief begins with an accurate diagnosis. A healthcare professional, such as a dentist or an oral and maxillofacial specialist, typically conducts a thorough examination to assess the jaw’s movement, listen for unusual sounds, and evaluate any discomfort. This assessment may include imaging tests such as X-rays, MRIs, or CT scans to provide a clearer picture of the joint’s structure and any potential issues.Once a diagnosis is established, the treatment options can be tailored to the individual’s needs. It is crucial to communicate openly about your symptoms, lifestyle, and any specific concerns, as this information will guide the treatment plan. An effective approach often involves a combination of therapies, addressing both the physical and psychological aspects of TMJ disorder.
Conservative Treatments: The First Line of Defense
For many individuals, conservative treatments are the first line of defense against TMJ pain. These approaches are often non-invasive and focus on alleviating symptoms while promoting healing. One of the primary conservative treatments is physical therapy, which may include exercises designed to improve jaw mobility and strengthen the surrounding muscles. These exercises can help alleviate tension and promote better function of the temporomandibular joint.
Heat and cold therapy are also common remedies. Applying a warm compress can relax tense muscles, while cold packs can reduce inflammation and numb acute pain. Alternating between heat and cold can provide significant relief and is easy to incorporate into daily routines.Additionally, practicing stress management techniques is crucial. Since stress can exacerbate TMJ symptoms, methods such as mindfulness, yoga, and relaxation exercises can be valuable. These techniques help reduce muscle tension and promote overall well-being, contributing to a more comprehensive approach to TMJ treatment.
Dental Interventions: Tailored Solutions for TMJ
In cases where conservative treatments are insufficient, dental interventions may be necessary. One common approach is the use of splints or mouthguards, which are custom-fitted devices designed to be worn during sleep or throughout the day. These devices can help prevent teeth grinding, reduce jaw clenching, and maintain proper alignment of the jaw. By providing a cushion between the teeth, they alleviate pressure on the temporomandibular joint, promoting healing and comfort.Another dental intervention is orthodontic treatment, particularly for individuals with misaligned teeth or jaws contributing to TMJ dysfunction. In some cases, braces or other orthodontic appliances can correct alignment issues, reducing strain on the jaw and improving overall function. This approach requires a comprehensive evaluation by an orthodontist to determine the most appropriate course of action. For individuals with more severe TMJ disorders, a dentist may recommend injections, such as corticosteroids or botulinum toxin (Botox), to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain. Corticosteroid injections can provide temporary relief by reducing swelling, while Botox injections help relax the muscles associated with jaw clenching and grinding. These treatments can be effective adjuncts to other therapies and may provide significant alleviation of symptoms.
Surgical Options: When Conservative Treatments Aren't Enough
In rare cases where conservative treatments and dental interventions fail to provide relief, surgical options may be considered. Surgical treatment for TMJ disorders is typically reserved for severe cases where structural issues within the joint are present. One common surgical approach is arthroscopy, a minimally invasive procedure that allows surgeons to examine the joint and perform repairs. This procedure may involve removing inflamed tissue, repositioning the disc, or even smoothing out rough surfaces within the joint.Another surgical option is open-joint surgery, which is more invasive and may be necessary for complex cases involving significant structural changes. This procedure typically involves a longer recovery time and is approached with caution, given the potential risks involved. It is essential to note that surgical intervention is usually considered a last resort after all conservative measures have been thoroughly exhausted. A comprehensive discussion with a qualified healthcare provider is necessary to evaluate the potential benefits and risks associated with surgical options.
Holistic and Alternative Therapies: Complementary Approaches
In addition to traditional treatments, many individuals find relief through holistic and alternative therapies. These approaches can complement conventional treatments and provide a more comprehensive strategy for managing TMJ symptoms. Acupuncture is one such therapy that has gained popularity for its ability to reduce pain and promote relaxation. By targeting specific points in the body, acupuncture can help alleviate tension in the jaw and surrounding muscles.
Chiropractic care is another alternative that some individuals explore. Chiropractors can work on realigning the spine and jaw, potentially reducing strain on the temporomandibular joint. This approach can be particularly beneficial for those whose TMJ symptoms are exacerbated by postural issues or spinal misalignments.
Massage therapy can also provide significant relief for TMJ sufferers. Targeted massage techniques can help relax the muscles surrounding the jaw, reducing tension and promoting better function. Incorporating regular massage sessions into your routine can create a sense of relaxation and well-being, contributing to overall pain management.
Lifestyle Modifications: Empowering Self-Care
Effective treatment for TMJ is not solely reliant on professional interventions. Lifestyle modifications play a crucial role in managing symptoms and promoting healing. One significant adjustment is to modify dietary habits. Soft foods that require minimal chewing can alleviate strain on the jaw, especially during flare-ups. Avoiding hard or chewy foods can prevent exacerbation of symptoms and allow for a more comfortable eating experience.Additionally, paying attention to posture can have a profound impact on TMJ health. Poor posture, particularly when sitting for extended periods, can contribute to muscle tension and jaw strain. Practicing good posture, using ergonomic furniture, and taking regular breaks can help reduce discomfort and promote better alignment. Moreover, incorporating stress-reduction techniques into daily life can make a substantial difference. Engaging in activities such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, or gentle yoga can help manage stress and reduce the likelihood of teeth grinding or jaw clenching, both of which are common contributors to TMJ pain.
The Role of Support: Seeking Professional Guidance
Navigating the complexities of TMJ treatment can be overwhelming, but support from healthcare professionals can make a significant difference. Building a relationship with a healthcare provider who understands the intricacies of TMJ disorders can lead to more effective treatment outcomes. Regular check-ups and open communication about your symptoms can help ensure that your treatment plan is adjusted as needed.Additionally, support groups and online communities can provide valuable resources and emotional support for individuals dealing with TMJ. Sharing experiences, coping strategies, and treatment successes can empower individuals to take control of their health and find relief.
Conclusion: Finding Your Path to Relief
In conclusion, relief for TMJ is achievable through a multifaceted approach that encompasses a variety of treatments and lifestyle modifications. Understanding the condition, seeking accurate diagnosis and assessment, and exploring both conventional and alternative therapies can empower individuals to find effective solutions for their symptoms. From conservative treatments like physical therapy and stress management to dental interventions and potential surgical options, there is a pathway to alleviating jaw pain and restoring function. By actively participating in one’s treatment journey and making informed choices, individuals can significantly improve their quality of life and regain control over their oral health. Remember, you are not alone in this journey, and with the right support and treatment, relief from TMJ is within reach.
