Hydrosphere Hot Tub Recolor
I love a canopy on a hot tub, saving me trouble from exposure to the sun and possibly getting struck by lightning. BUT NOOO! The Sims 2 never fails to crack me up with their jokes and my Sims are still getting sunburned and electrocuted hahaha....
So... since this mesh has limited recolor (to my knowledge) I figured it would be fun to give it lively colors :)
Mesh is not included, So please visit this website to get it, hopefully you guys like it :)

A world-model piece I wish I'd had a decade ago, but which I in fact acquired only a couple days ago:
Most people are straight. Even-larger-fractions-of-most people are monosexual or monosexual-leaning. But there are multiple ways of implementing monosexuality.
Some people are attracted to people in a way substantially downstream of those people's genders. Being attracted to women, or to men, or suchlike. This is a commonly-discussed phenomenon, and a pretty widespread one.
Some people are attracted to relationships in a way substantially downstream of the genders of all participants in the relationships. Attracted to relationships between men and women, or relationships between multiple women, or suchlike. This is much less of a commonly-discussed phenomenon, despite in fact also being pretty widespread.
Many people run a mix of these two attraction-patterns; different people's mixes weight the two variants differently.
Most people are straight; but some people are straight more in an "attracted to people of Insert Gender Here" way and others more in an "attracted to relationships between men and women" way. These both lead to similar dating-patterns; but they're going to lead to divergent patterns in various non-dating situations. For instance, among straight women who read romance and/or porn, people who lean more the former way are likelier to prefer yaoi / slashfic / etc. over straight romance novels—the former contain a higher density of people they're attracted to—while people who lean more the latter way are likelier to prefer straight romance novels over yaoi / slashfic / etc., because the latter don't actually have the relationship-shape they're into. (And approximately-equivalent dynamics, with genders swapped, apply to straight men.)
Similar patterns apply to nonstraight monosexual-leaning people. Lesbians, for instance, vary in the degree to which they're into women versus into relationships between multiple women. This has less visible effect on their reading habits, since both groups are just as likely to read romance-fiction focused primarily on women; but it still can be seen more indirectly in, for example, the degree to which they do versus don't feel kinship with (the into-women subset of) straight men over shared attraction-patterns, where into-women lesbians are doing approximately the same thing into-women straight men are doing and are accordingly more prone to feeling kinship there, while into-relationships-between-women lesbians are doing a different thing from into-relationships-between-men-and-women straight men and therefore are less prone to feeling kinship there.
(I'm less confident in how this works for bi/pansexual people. I suspect that some of them are reasonably describable in these terms—attraction to multiple genders / multiple relationship-gender-configurations / some mix thereof—while others aren't, and instead just mostly don't include gender as a factor in their attraction-patterns at all; but I don't have much sense of what the relative distributions are there.)
In retrospect, this explains a lot of things I'd previously found mysterious about how monosexual-leaning people interact with the concepts of sex and romance. (Myself included; I lean mostly in the "into women" direction, and have historically tended to get kind of confused when people expressed thoughts which are in retrospect pretty clearly downstream of the "into relationships-between-people-of-insert-genders-here" implementation-shape.) And thus I figure it's worth sharing here, in case it's similarly explanatory for other people.
#Archive#Introspection#Sexuality#Gender#examples of confusions it resolved for me:#why straight romance novels are popular among straight readers and not just bi/pan ones#(i previously modeled that as being about desire to self-insert-ily project oneself into the story but this model seems more parsimonious)#why i had some internal conflicts about bihacking when i was working on that#(nonzero attraction aimed in the relationships-between-women direction which trying to add more attraction-to-men integrated poorly with)#the thing about variable sense of kinship-with-straight-men among lesbians#maybe more i've forgotten; but those are the ones i'm currently remembering at least

I'm always in awe when I see Parsimonious objects and clothing for TS2, for several reasons.
a) Their creativity. Knowing they created these things at the height of Sims 2's popularity, and that they created a wide variety of things (medieval, fantastical, space, ect) in the time frame they did is absolutely amazing. You need objects to decorate your spaceship colony? Parsimonious. Need some absolutely stunning clothes that your badass Elven queen can wear during her coronation? Parsimonious. Need some stuff for your Roman Villa? Parsimonious. What about some clothes for your new fantasy hood, with a nomadic culture? Parsimonious. It also says a lot that they were able to be so creative using Maxis assets / meshes.
b) Their quality! For the time frame they were created, their stuff looks really amazing. I'd say that some of their actual buy mode objects tend to be look a little more 'dated' compared to modern CC being created, but the quality of their objects compared to other early CC is outstanding. I mean, it says something that their CC is still being used and utilized by so many simmers, even today. I still love / use their resplendent + eponymous garden sets.

Recently I got a sudden burst of motivation to dust off my old projects! This isn't one of them though, this one just kind of happened lol.
So, I present to you, four houndstooth jackets with belts and matching boots. The original texture is from Parsimonious (my beloved) by Welkin, I just added the fishnets, recolored the boots and added the blue version. The first one uses the NL maxis mesh, second one uses the mesh edit by @silivrin.
Enabled for YA-Elder, everyday and outwear.
Links and more images under the cut!

More Community Lots
So, here are a couple more community lots in town.
This one is across the street from the school. It's where the business lot is in the modern version of this town.
It's an old lot from Parsimonious Sims called the Ruby Rooms, and is zoned as an exclusive lounge. I did do some relandscaping on the outside, but nothing much. Mostly got rid of a lot of redundant hedges that came with the original and added the trees out front. I wanted to keep it pretty simple.
This is the ground floor. In the one room on the left, sims can get married. I think the original creator had a major Twilight thing going on in her life at the time, because she went nuts with the candles. I did change out the chandeliers in the lobby and added a pool table in the lounge area on the right.
The second floor is the banquet area. I upgraded all the tables - giving them actual tablecloths because you'd expect that in a classy place. I also gave them a dance floor instead of leaving that open area between the 2 buffet tables blank. Plus I got rid of all the ceiling lights she had. Mostly because this is a 2-story room and ceiling lights hanging from a non-existent ceiling makes no sense to me. I used those invisible lights from buydebug instead.
And on the top floor, I used those store gambling sets, along with @mspoodle1's poker tables, to create a small casino area for my sims to lose all their simoleons. The left side she had made into a huge bathroom - that I left. I got rid of some stuff, but basically left it alone.
Then across the street is the Baker Street Bakery. I got this lot from the Magic Kingdom world. The original lot ended with that light blue build, so I added that extra build on the end for the town spa - because I needed to stick it somewhere and I had the space here.
This is the ground floor. I think all I did here was change the floor tile.
And this is the 2nd floor. I changed all of this floor, adding those tea-set tables and adding that small lounge area for the dudes. Plus the bathrooms. I think in the original, they had made this into a kitchen, but there was lots of room on the first floor for the bakery kitchen stuff, so that's where I put it. As for the spa, it just has the rabbithole rug in it, because I got lazy.
#sims 3#Sunset valley Victorian#thanks to the creators over on Parsimonious for their lot and the creators of that Magic Kingdom world for theirs

I often see the argument that Ariel’s spark doesn’t mean anything since Feyre had a spark for Tamlin Lorcan with Aelin. But that logic simply doesn’t hold. Yes, Feyre and Tamlin aren’t mates and Lordsn and Aelin also aren’t. But those two situations had other context why the spark in their chest is meaningful. Feyre was in love with Tamlin and Lorcan had the blood oath to Aelin. And all the other couples with sparks (Hunt+Bryce, Ruhn+Lydia) are obviously mates.
So everytime there has been a spark in someone’s chest it’s been meaningful. So saying it doesn’t mean anything just simply isn’t true.
Also, the Hunt+Bryce spark and Ruhn+Lydia spark was written closer in timeline to the bonus scenes than the Feyre and Lorcan ones. So it makes sense the chance is bigger it’s about mates than something else?
And what even would that something else be? Saying it’s because she’s a light singer also doesn’t make sense. Why did only Azriel get a spark? Why not Nesta? Why not Cassian. It’s because the spark isn’t because of her powers. It’s the most obvious answer which is that they’re mates.

walking up wyckoff avenue beside my friend, we passed a girl slipping her hands behind the neck of her lover, pressed against the lowered metal grate of a storefront. he slouched his hands gently outward to receive on his cross, a cigarette hung between his fingers, ash in fallen boughs, looming the light artery by her touch. with silence to wash away the outer time, her head drawn to his heart, oneness truly of the two. i was revolved to whisper, love is real.
