Meditate on color. Tune into the present moment and ground yourself thru creativity. Draw. Sketch. Smear colors around. You do t have to have art supplies in hand, there is a whole world of art supplies available to you through various art apps for digitaldrawing and painting I love to use them for #fashionillustration and more and more of my students are loving them too! Not as a replacement for analog #art tools, but as yet another format and form to create with that is unlike any other, opening different capabilities, experiences and possibilities. I think I used @procreate to create this one, but there are many apps with many tools, each has a unique flavor. SHHHHH here’s my secret. Take one or two tools in any app and exploit and explore them to the hilt! Master and get curious with them. There’s no need to use 500 different tools to create an Inage or form. Less “info overload” will keep you feeling impulsive, instinctive, able to take quick. I - the - moment actions while you are In #Creative flow rather than sit around using your math-brain to figure out a menu of options. MY TEACHING leans HEAVILY on InSTINCT, EMOTION, PLAY state, nonjudgment, exploration, feeling, energy, experience, motivation and intuition. There are PLENTY of teachers teaching the way I grew up, telling you how to be. Not me. We spent the evening at Parsons watching Made in Cambodia; a film which follows & documents 3 Parsons fashion students' journeys to Cambodia to meet the people who work in Cambodia's garment industry. It was really incredible to see the students meet & engage with individuals who make clothes for a living. The students shared how impactful this experience was for them & how it has completely changed the way they design, create, shop & think. It is vital that we continue to share these stories & explore the lives of garment workers all over the world.
