Feng wanted a pet snake for a while, specifically a ball python. It was definitely a tie between (about) 3 different morphs, a banana/pastel banana piebald, a pastel banana, or a black pastel piebald.

So I made a naga character (idk what to name em) based on a pastel banana morph ball python :D (I watch too much snake discovery-)

Ball pythons are native to western Africa so their skin is very dark :p

I also put some of the python markings on their upper half for funsies

Just put a deposit down on this gorgeous boy. I am obsessed with his gorgeous pattern. He's a Pastel Enchi Clown Ball Python. I wasn't even looking to add a new ball python to my collection yet, but I was browsing other local breeders, and saw this gorgeous guy from a local breeder, and omg, I couldn't resist. A cool-looking yellow and black snake has been on my wishlist for awhile (very generic; I love BPs, but don't breed or get into specific morphs, I just look for what I love.)

Currently I have a Banana Pied baby who I just love, and in the past I've had a few different rescues who were a mixed bag. I now prefer to get well-started babies and socialize them myself, after some nightmare rescue scenarios. I think my first snake ever was a bp, but it was so long ago, I can't really remember.

This guy will be named Herky, after the University of Iowa mascot, since their colors are also black and gold (clearly a theme for me, if you've seen my corn snake project).

Part of what I love about reptiles as pets is that they vastly prefer to stay at home in their enclosures, as opposed to dogs who need to go outside and love adventures and outside enrichment. I love my dog so much, and I've always been a "dog person" but the more my chronic illnesses and disability impact my life, the more homebound I become, and the more I want things in my home to be enriching for me. I could spend all day with my reptiles and be perfectly happy.

A big project I have for the summer (when I'm on break from my day job of teaching) is redoing my reptile room to make it more functional for me the human caretaker, more functional, and more comfortable.

This dude will be a great edition, and I'm looking forward to meeting the breeder and seeing his setup when I pick him up in the next few weeks.

Weekly Update ~ 3 July 2023

In case you missed our recent barrage of pictures, our nursery is full of hatchling hognose snakes and ball pythons!

We're working on getting the hognose hatchlings started on our "home-grown" frozen/thawed pinky mice and have seen success so far! The ball python hatchlings will be offered their first meals after they get around to shedding. Once they're eating consistently, the hatchlings will be posted onto MorphMarket, so stay tuned!

Our next and likely last clutch of snakes of the 2022-2023 season is due to hatch mid-August (black head leopard lesser pinstripe het hypo+ x pastel GHI calico). We plan to publish the 2023-2024 season breeding plan soon!

We've also updated our adoption applications and will require them for future clients interested in adopting our animals. We hope these will ensure our animals go to the most informed homes possible. These can be filled out whether you'd like an animal from us now or in the future!

Lastly, the rodents were treated to frozen celery and banana this week as well as segments of paper towel tubes for enrichment. We've started a bin of female holdbacks from our most sociable female rat, a blue agouti named Athena, and our male rat with the best conformation, a dumbo self-black silvermane named Buck. We are also starting temperament-testing on their sons to select our next breeding male for our self-black clans. It's so exciting to see the fruits of our hard work over the past couple years, but we're always working towards improvement.

Meet the newest member of the family, Artemis "Artie" Doot Doot. We just brought him home today, and so far they're loving their enclosure. My wife brought me to this local bird and reptile place to hold a snake, basically to get me used to handling them for when we got one in a few weeks. Enclosure was already 99% complete and I fell in love with Artemis immediately. He's somewhere between 8-10 months, male, and uses any pronouns :) For anyone curious, she's a cinnamon banana super pastel ball python. She's lovely!

(There are also approx 4 isopods in there....somewhere. We'll probably never see them again.)

Please tell me about your ball pythons

SURE THING!!! only three of them are actually mine, so i'll be posting those guys first. there's also a bullsnake (who is also not mine) but we'll get to that. i also only have (poor quality...) baby pictures currently OOPS bear with me. we've got... JASPER he's a normal ball python, and the first snake i ever got!! i got him in october of 2018, so he's a few years old by now!! he is the friendliest and most handleable out of everybody i've got. he's about... two or three feet long now i think?

DANDELION (or dandy for short) he is a banana pastel ball python, and he's a little feisty LMAO. he has bitten me and drawn blood before. i got him in june of 2020, so he's also a few years old!!

OPAL she is a pastave (pastel + mojave) ball python, and she is the newest addition to my personal collection! i got her in december of 2022, and she is INCREDIBLY shy, but handleable. she is also the best eater out of all of them.

NOW ONTO THE ONES WHO ARENT MINE!! SOBA this guy is my best friend oz's snake, and he's a banana fire morph. he is absolutely massive, and kinda sucks at eating, but he's getting there!! he's pretty friendly, if i'm honest. i like him :)

STRING CHEESE this guy is also oz's!! we aren't entirely sure what his genes are, apart from super stripe (and possibly woma? we've noticed he has a wobble/corkscrewing problems, but i don't think it's IBD, because he is a FANTASTIC eater for me, he's super active and healthy otherwise, and we've had him for a WHILE now.) he's an escape artist, and actually got out of his tank for like a day and hid inside of a heater on the wall. it was annoying.

FRIDA i do not have a picture of frida handy, but he's a normal bullsnake (also oz's) so honestly just google a pic LOL. he's a great eater, and in normal bullsnake fashion, he is feisty. hates being held LMAO. he's named frida after frida kahlo, because of the little unibrow marking :3 he is also super teeny tiny right now... super young guy.

Hello! Banana Bread is believed to be a Pastel Banana morph of Ball Python. I'm not 100% sure that he is a Pastel, but he's definitely a Banana morph. I rescued him from Petco when i worked there because he was malnourished and dehydrated, and Petco's suppliers dont actually label the morphs of their snakes.
