Just put a deposit down on this gorgeous boy. I am obsessed with his gorgeous pattern. He's a Pastel Enchi Clown Ball Python. I wasn't even looking to add a new ball python to my collection yet, but I was browsing other local breeders, and saw this gorgeous guy from a local breeder, and omg, I couldn't resist. A cool-looking yellow and black snake has been on my wishlist for awhile (very generic; I love BPs, but don't breed or get into specific morphs, I just look for what I love.)

Currently I have a Banana Pied baby who I just love, and in the past I've had a few different rescues who were a mixed bag. I now prefer to get well-started babies and socialize them myself, after some nightmare rescue scenarios. I think my first snake ever was a bp, but it was so long ago, I can't really remember.

This guy will be named Herky, after the University of Iowa mascot, since their colors are also black and gold (clearly a theme for me, if you've seen my corn snake project).

Part of what I love about reptiles as pets is that they vastly prefer to stay at home in their enclosures, as opposed to dogs who need to go outside and love adventures and outside enrichment. I love my dog so much, and I've always been a "dog person" but the more my chronic illnesses and disability impact my life, the more homebound I become, and the more I want things in my home to be enriching for me. I could spend all day with my reptiles and be perfectly happy.

A big project I have for the summer (when I'm on break from my day job of teaching) is redoing my reptile room to make it more functional for me the human caretaker, more functional, and more comfortable.

This dude will be a great edition, and I'm looking forward to meeting the breeder and seeing his setup when I pick him up in the next few weeks.

It sounds literally SO fun to be a ball python breeder.

Not only are there THOUSANDS of morphs, but there's TONS of variation in the morphs themselves !!!!!

A banana morph can range from pale yellow to orange, pastels can range in brightness, pied can basically have like any pattern, ect

It's crazy cool, not to mention how many combinations of morphs there are

It's also crazy how people see these thousands of morphs and exclusively want to breed the cruel and unethical ones and throw a hissy fit when people don't like it

Two new noodles

We have 2 new little noodles coming to us very soon, both little boys. The first is a black pastel 100% het albino boy, who we are going to call Black Jack. The second is a little banana 100% het pied boy, who is going to be called Natsu. We are so very excited to add these little boys to our family ❤️🐍

You commented in the tags on my snake post and I just wanted to answer that he's a Banana morph! I was going to try and get an Albino, my local pet store had one as a store pet that I loved growing up, but a local breeder I found had a lot of Banana morphs for a good price since they have male maker genetics. I don't intend to breed him, so that was fine with me!

Ahh, I was way off... Glad that you was able to get one from a breeder and not a pet store (I have heard it is generally better for reptiles, but my sources might be biased).

For me Albino ball pythons do look good, but it also seemed at least some time ago that anyone who isn't a breeder would have an albino or pastel or pied one, so I am glad to see someone who found simple morph which also makes a snake recognisable from others )

It has come to my attention that I don't post enough photos of my pets- so here you go! The big horse I'm riding is Moon, a 17 y/o American Cream Draft.

The other white horse is Mickey, an 11 y/o Quarter Horse.

Next is Perry, my peacock. I cant find photos of his wifey Penny, or their kiddos, Polly, an unnamed male and female from last year and a chick from this year.

Then we have Rowan, my year old pastel banana Ball Python.

Samantha, my 12 y/o italian greyhound

One of the barn cats (there are Pyvris, Timmy, Junior, Oreo, the two calico ferals, and four kittens from this year, Shadow, Mule (that name will change once he grows into his ears), and tink.)

So, update. My collection is currently sitting at 22 animals. I like to keep my number under 25 so I may add another big female ball python and a MBK male at some point but I’m honestly pretty happy with the species and morphs I currently have.
