the ducks were being handed out by another troop, i traded a patch for the neckerchief slides (yes, the cauldron is one), and the fork thing was traded for a duck :3

there were also canadian scouts at the camp out, it was right by the u.s./canadian border!

Guys! New Patches!

First one was made by a friend, when i showed them how i made my patches. Its a nice lil crow, isn't it?

Second one i made yesterday when trying new materials to work with. I'm using real lino for my patches from now on... Anyway, its about the new pet (A bearded dragon) a friend gets soon. The name is going to be twinky, and she will be the Master of all the Dragons. She got a special ability that brings joy into the lives of the people that are so lucky to know her.

OH YEAH. okay one thing I DO want to talk about from Skyfall. That I think we should be talking about more. is the "he went into the priest hole for TWO (2) DAYS" thing.

I had like. known that was A Thing, but ig didn't see or forgot what it looked like. but the first look at it I was like. whoa. this is.... how do I say. like there's something visceral and primal and primitive about it just being bare rock. and I made a comment about how insane that is, and esp seeing the mine/cave-like rock and the thought of TWO DAYS down there.. that it's sth "like returning to some sort of primordial earthly womb (tomb)"

but then later they showed that the priest hole is NOT just like a bolthole. but a whole-ass tunnel system!!! EXTRA wild! what was Bond doing down there? WHERE exactly was he in the priest hold then? Was he hunkered down in some corner? Was he wandering around the caves like some sort of primordial spectre.

also there's something interesting/cool about it being like. seemed like it was just going to be a bolthole, and then they revealed it was this whole-ass tunnel system. Skyfall has a lot of maze/hidden/hiding symbolism, and there's something interesting about there being this, like. hidden earthly labyrinth at the heart/hearth/underneath Skyfall.

also the idea of baby Bond wandering a stone labyrinth under the very bones of his ancestral home after the death of his parents... and the whole when he came out he wasn't a boy anymore or whatever it was exactly Kincade said.... hmmm......... Minotaur? Minotaur vibes perhaps? I think there is something here- I think there's something to be said about hidden monstrosity/adversity bringing out monstrosity in us, plus the whole nature/nurture question of like, Bond and HIS "nature," was he born brutal or was he made brutal

(by his career, by his forging as a 00 agent, by M's machinations-- speaking of machinations. but okay god the way she. Manages him... I DO think there's a lot of interesting parts throughout the movies but there was a particular moment in Skyfall when she was like. hunt them down. for Ronson. like ggngng that was like. the emotional equivalent of those loop/stick leashes they use to capture stray dogs.... lowering the loop around his neck and tightening... and then once it's tightened she can move him around cuz it's a stick and not just a rope leash, she can literally physically lead him...) (and also the nature/nurture question of Silva's rats thing)

How did you get so good at animating and drawing? Aside from practice, what techniques do you use? What software do you use?

I only know the basics/fundamentals of both drawing and animation.

For drawing, I've carried out lessons about the Elements and principles of design, the history of graphics design, traditional drawing techniques, color theory, anatomy, character design, blah blah blah. Lots of info I still do my best to practice/put in my art. If y'all notice me animating gifs then it's bc I have time to do so... ( I'm in term break until late July ) They're likely short, but it's through animation blocking, timing, and incorporating both in-betweens and tweening.

I've used Adobe Animate/After Effects for school projects, sometimes for doodles only, I currently use Clip Studio Paint bc it's where I'm more comfy with ^^ Maybe someday I'll be able to afford Toon Boom hehe.

My half of an art trade with by friend @altairasart. He wanted to draw his giant OC Kanini interacting with my OC Patches and I was more than happy to draw the same! Even though she's 20ish feet tall, Patches is still way shorter than Kanini so she needs to sit on a taller building! I had a lot of fun drawing this!

After six months of waiting, my Angel Hare plushies have arrived! They came with the activity book and trading cards (base and holo) from their Kickstarter event, an expansion pack of cards, Gabby and Zag socks, pins with the angels on them and a Wylde Hare comic, with an additional signed Cool Francis print for reaching 160,000 backers. I hope to post a picture of the expansion cards soon.

I keep forgetting I haven't actually posted this anywhere, but as like a standing offer: I am totally willing to do art trades with people who have embroidery machines in trade for embroidered eyes like I'm using on the giant bat*. I neither have nor want an embroidery machine, but I really like CholyKnight/Sewdesune's embroidered eye...patterns? designs? idk what they are called and will absolutely make plushies/doll clothes/etc to trade for them

*I got those eyes in an art trade and I am delighted by them

Another backlog. From my art trade with @maniakmonkey featuring both Kit and Patches! He's mentioned it a couple times that everyone's giant OCs seem to be bigger than Patches, but as Mimi's default minimum size keeps getting reigned in smaller maybe it won't always be the case forever!
