In the past several days since this was posted, we got enough for rent, my phone which I hadn't paid off yet was stolen, and I was locked out of work until I replace it due to two-factor authentication.

And! My roommate got a flat tire on our only vehicle. We desperately need to meet this goal for a new phone so I can work enough to take care of everything else. Thanks to the flat this is more of an emergency than it was before, and it was not like this was great before.

Okay, so I have been suddenly without work for over a full day now and couple days in the past week as well, which is a huge deal for us because rent is in a few days. We are nowhere near our goal for rent, and I will have to stay up a couple nights in a row to make the money we need, best case scenario.

On top of that my roommate woke up hellishly sick for the 2nd time this week, due to some chronic issues he has. He needs to get rehydrated to avoid the ER, which probably means spending like $20 on powerade and some plain foods to get him through.

I will update this after my meeting when I hopefully know more, but right now we urgently need about $50 to get my roommate the stuff he needs to avoid the ER, and get me a meal and caffeine so I am not working for two days straight on empty.

New York is a needed change. Change of location, change of pace, change of occupation— just change. A fresh start.  Perhaps luck is on his side. The New York apartment opens about a week earlier than expected. So he finishes packing up and makes arrangements to move a few days earlier than planned. And he takes advantage of his few extra days to settle into the city and his new apartment the way he wants.  He starts telling a few people he’s officially moved. His dad and Carole, some close friends… Not Blaine though. Blaine is just about the one person he doesn’t want to tell about moving. Blaine is the one person he is actively trying to avoid. And he sees all the missed calls and texts from Blaine, but he just can’t bring himself to respond. As much as it hurts him to not talk to Blaine right now, no contact is what he feels is needed to move on and let Blaine do the same. It’s easier if he just quietly walks away. Even if it makes him feel like there’s a gaping hole in his chest that he’s not sure is patchable.

Hey all. Haven't made a post is a long time. Last post was in 2016 at the end of high school peak phase 4. That was about 8 years ago and gorillaz has never been more popular. I used this blog as past time it Ended in highschool. But never stopped being a Gorillaz fan. Love that I spent high school making gif sets in computer class and it was amazing to have a following such a great community. It was a Honor to reblog such artwork.

This is what have been working on a few projects since then that is kinda music related. Mostly my Pet project M.A.V.I.S a DIY Eurorack hybrid Synth. Named After the MOOG Mavis Semi modular. But mines more modular.

i want to make a stereo version of the punk SVF, can the cutoff + and - voltages from one voltage generator just be sent to multiple filter cores as is? maybe some adjustment to the resistors in the generator to tune the current being split among more transistors? or do i just need to have two separate ones.

If you want the two sides to stay at the same cutoff without an option to deviate, then the CUT+/CUT- signals can drive all 16 transistors, 8 per side. R20/R29 might need adjustment if the filter doesn't close off completely, but from what i understand, that should not be the case. Otherwise two top 2/3s of the schematic can be driven by one bottom 1/3.

That said, i can't not ask: why build two filter cores and then force them to be at the same cutoff forever? Isn't that boring? I'd say that duplicating the circuit two times, generating individual pairs of CUT+/CUT- signals, is best. Both pairs can be derived from the same manual cutoff knob and have a CV input that affects both in the same direction. But then also there can be a bipolar "deviation" knob that adds positively to one filter and negatively to the other, spreading them apart in one direction or the other. Natuarlly, a CV can be wired to work this way as well.

Then you don't get just a stereo SVF that's the same on both channels forever, but two linked patchable filters. They can be usual stereo, can be made to do crazy stereo cutoff countermotion tricks, go parallel over the same mono signal (two bandpasses mixed scanning around the same sawtooth = instant talkbox nastiness), can be MS-20 style lp-to-hp, etc, etc. So IMO since you're already going through the PITA of building this, don't limit your possibilities of using this.

hiiii is there any chance you're working on an updated ReVanced patch for the Tumblr app? :3

A while ago, tumblr significantly stripped down their list of supported devices by bumping the required android version, plus (if apkpure/apkmirror are correct) only releasing apk bundle/.xapk/.apkm files instead of plain .apk, and only supporting arm v7a and v8a cpu architectures (not x86-64). This made download sizes smaller and probably improved performance and made development for them easier, but is pretty bad for patching.

APK Bundles aren't patchable by revanced, so that would require an additional step of converting the apk bundles to a plain apk via something like AntiSplit-M to maybe work. This means an extra step and app download for the user, and even less people who actually manage to make it through the whole patching process.

And not supporting x86-64 means running tumblr in an emulator is infeasible because the performance to emulate the supported architectures is so bad that it's completely unusable, making development a big pain.

I also don't even know which patches are even broken in newer versions, if any. I havent gotten reports about broken patches, you could try using AntiSplit-M on a modern tumblr apk and putting that into the patcher, maybe it'll just work.

Considering this, I don't see myself doing anything on tumblr patches for modern app versions. The old tumblr versions still work fine, aside from missing threaded replies (and communities?)

The mods can't see how you got the hs, bannable? sure possibly. Patchable? definitely not. It's basic HTML coding and recoding. Wanna keep this going? Drop this topic and move on. Talking about it brings attention to it. We know the mods have/do look on this blog.

The first few days after the storm had been insane. Injury after injury trickled in, from some minor cuts to head injuries that they just didn't have the resources to treat. That was the worst part of it all - knowing that if they'd been on the outside, with state of the art medical equipment and scanners, the graveyard would be a hell of a lot emptier. Still, she did what she could. Patched up what was patchable and tried to give comfort to those that were beyond any help.

Finally, there was a lull in patients and Gwen took the opportunity to escape out back, from being needed, for a single moment. Leaning against the sun warmed brick wall, she breathed deeply, trying to ignore the looming tide of despair that had been threatening to overtake her since the storm. This was why she kept moving, why she hated to stop - you stop and everything comes crashing down.

There was probably cleaning to be done or inventory - anything to keep her busy. The break had been a bad idea. Turning to head back in, she jerked back as the door swung open in front of her. "Oh, sorry Rae - I was just heading back in. You all good? Need any help downstairs?"

I saw my old webcomic get mentioned ;v; Had to respond if that's okay with you. To address the thing about Allen being somewhat inconsistent, the version that is still up is a revamp, the original version was rushed and the revamp was my attempt to fix a lot of issues but was still *basically* page for page so it was a band-aid over way too big of a gash. That's a perfectly fair observation, and part of the reason I was unhappy with how the revamp was coming along, because while some things were patchable, there were still big glaring issues I couldn't fix with a simple revamp. A lot of people pointed that out in the comments and to my old blog, which I always appreciated because the criticism I've received has helped me grow as both an artist and a writer.

As for you not having read it - it's available to read, but I personally wouldn't recommend starting it, because it's unfinished and that version of it at least will remain unfinished. I left it up for the people who did enjoy it to still be able to access it, but I don't want to disappoint anyone since it won't ever be returned to in the form, y'know??

^ Eye Texture Tutorial by Gina Nelson

The link is a tutorial that is so incredibly helpful. I used it to make my eyes. It teaches so much about light and shadows. How to use emboss for your eye texture, etc.

I luckily have some starting textures left over. Those were placeholder textures, mashed together fast, to simply have something. So I am able to see the progress I made.

The gif shows as well how I changed the UV mapping for the eyes. Tearduct, lashes and AO have their own. What makes this so easily patchable is, that you just simply have to duplicate your eyeball texture and move the duplicate upwards to y=0 . That's it.

(The eyetexture gif is after keep reading. It's animated, and might cause sensory issues.)

More Notes on the Computer Music Playpen

I have finished maintenance on the VST3 plugin opcodes for Csound, Csound for Android, and some other things, and am re-focusing in composition.

One thing that happened as I was cleaning up the VST3 opcodes is that I discovered a very important thing. There are computer music programs that function as VST3 plugins and that significantly exceed the quality or power what Csound has so far done on it own, just for examples that I am using or plan to use:

The Valhalla reverbs by Sean Costello -- I think these actually derive from a reverb design that Sean did in the 1990s when he and I both were attending the Woof meetings at Columbia University. Sean's reverb design was ported first to Csound orchestra code, and then to C as a built-in opcode. It's the best and most widely used reverb in Csound, but it's not as good as the Valhalla reverbs, partly because the Valhalla reverbs can do a good job of preserving stereo.

Cardinal -- This is a fairly complete port of the VCV Rack "virtual Eurorack" patchable modular synthesiser not only to a VST3 plugin, but also to a WebAssembly module. This is exactly like sticking a very good Eurorack synthesizer right into Csound.

plugdata -- This is most of Pure Data, but with a slightly different and somewhat smoother user interface, as a VST3 plugin.

I also discovered that some popular digital audio workstations (DAWs), the workhorses of the popular music production industry, can embed algorithmic composition code written in a scripting language. For example, Reaper can host scripts written in Lua or Python, both of which are entirely capable of sophisticated algorithmic composition, and both of which have Csound APIs. And of course any of these DAWs can host Csound in the form of a Cabbage plugin.

All of this raises for me the question: What's the playpen? What's the most productive environment for me to compose in? Is it a DAW that now embeds my algorithms and my Csound instruments, or is it just code?

Right now the answer is not simply code, but specifically HTML5 code. And here is my experience and my reasons for not jumping to a DAW.

I don't want my pieces to break. I want my pieces to run in 20 years (assuming I am still around) just as they run today. Both HTML5 and Csound are "versionless" in the sense that they intend, and mostly succeed, in preserving complete backwards compatibility. There are Csound pieces from before 1990 that run just fine today -- that's over 33 years. But DAWs, so far, don't have such a good record in this department. I think many people find they have to keep porting older pieces to keep then running in newer software.

I'm always using a lot of resources, a lot of software, a lot of libraries. The HTML5 environment just makes this a great deal easier. Any piece of software that either is written in JavaScript or WebAssembly, or provides a JavaScript interface, can be used in a piece with a little but of JavaScript glue code. That includes Csound itself, my algorithmic composition software CsoundAC, the live coding system Strudel, and now Cardinal.

The Web browser itself contains a fantastic panoply of software, notably WebGL and WebAudio, so it's very easy to do visual music in the HTML5 environment.

So unfortunately not only do these not work, but glaze and nightshade don't work either (in the long run).

The professional attacker/researcher Nicholas Carlini has found a vulnerability in Glaze already. This same vulnerability can be applied to other "defenses". Unlike a patchable vulnerability, Glaze currently functions as an encryption like AES and RSA. So while newer versions of Glaze post-vulnerability will help thwart your work being scraped, any work that is/was released using the old version, is now able to be scraped.

In his paper on the attack and his detailed blog response to the Glaze Dev on attacks, Carlini goes on to explain that trying to defend against scraping, while noble, is flawed in its current approach.
