okay OKAY i know i've been making some weird retiring choices lately but it's the dice man. it's the dice. last run? last run i had to make so many adjustments to make it work.

spotkit, bushkit, and patchedkit also die. it's hunger.

ryestalk has four kits, breezekit (pale grey and white tom with faint stripes and copper eyes), halokit (study, fluffy, grey she-cat with copper eyes), needlekit (black and red tortoiseshell she-cat with faint stripes and copper eyes), and pumicekit (grey and red tortoiseshell she-cat with hazel eyes).

Description: She is a black and white molly with hazel eyes.

Personality:

Quietly confident, she is fine with living life normally and not rising to attention for particular greatness. She loves exploring and having quiet time alone or with a few friends and kin, and enjoys wandering and being out of camp for patrols, no matter the weather. In camp, if she’s unoccupied, she finds herself too easily led down dark paths of anxiety about illness, wounds, and death. She still avoids the medicine den due to this. Her belief in Starclan follows that of her mentor, Lostface: some distrust and disdain. She enjoys helping others and is humble about it, more concerned with doing the job well than getting thanks for it. She’s a little gruff and not very talkative. Her favorite duties are in hunting and tracking, because she has great skill with them.  While an able fighter due to her solid build and training�� though she only of average size– she’d prefer to try talking things out or bluffing first. After all, all wounds are dangerous, and she’s seen and heard of enough violence as it is. She has a serious and thoughtful mind, but keeps most of her musing to herself. She feels somewhat disconnected with others, but one on one, is a sympathetic and supportive cat.

Book one

Chapter one

Snakekit and Patchedkit were running around the clearing, wind ruffling their unkept fur. Mudcoat and Elmstar were gathered and speaking of patrols while Patchedpelt was sleeping in the nursery. The two kits had been tormenting Silverpaw, an apprentice who just returned from training with Twigrush. He was tired but refused to call the kits off and back to their mother.

“Hey, Patchedkit. Watch this!” Snakekit stood on his haunches and sprang himself forwards at Silverpaw’s tabby tail. He forced himself down just as Silverpaw had flicked his tail to the side, causing the kit to slam his paws onto the rough, rocky ground beneath him. He whined, his paw pads aching from the impact. Silverpaw looked over his shoulder and scoffed as Patchedkit snickered. “Good job, Snakekit! You couldn’t even catch a tail!” She inhaled sharply. “But look, you caught a rock!”

*I did?*

Snakekit looked at his paws. A small stone was stuck between his toes. He shook his paw to get it out, it flinging across the clearing and landing ontop of Redfoot’s white forehead. He tracked the pebble and the moment he noticed where it had landed he leapt behind his sister. The warrior grunted, shook out his fur and padded away. *Thank Starclan!*

Silverpaw turned around. “Redfoot would’ve really loved to get you two introuble just about now,” He sneered. “He’ll take whatever chance he can get to seem like a good warrior.”

“Hey, I didn’t do anything!” Snakekit whaled. Patchkit mewled in annoyance. “You threw a rock at him!”

“Did not!”

The two kept arguing and Silverpaw shifted his gaze over to the Medicine den behind them. Inside, Snowfire was sinking his claws into a bundle of bedding. His eyes were wide open and his fur was on end. The apprentice stood and slowly slid into the den, his eyes narrowed in confusion and worry for the senior cat. “Are you okay, Snowfire?”

The Medicine cat cocked his head to meet the other tom’s gaze. “It’s a sign from Starclan themselves,” he looked down at the moss. Laying ontop of it was a single claw that seemed to be pulled from a cat’s foot. *Ouch.* “Who lost a claw?” Silverpaw asked, disregarding the mention of it being a sign. The Medicine cat didn’t seem to forget of what he’d said, in fact he seemed even more involved in his thoughts and had completely pushed away anything that came out of Silverpaw’s mouth. “A claw will be shed in a battle,” The white tom muttered. “A claw of one who has passed.”

*Does that mean a cat will die in battle?* Silverpaw thought. He decided that thinking on this further was unnecessary, as it wasn’t his job to interpret Starclan’s words. He slid out of the den to find Snakekit and Patchedkit still arguing over the pebble that hit Redfoot a few moments back.

“It flung out between my toes, I did not know it would hit him!”

“Yes you did! You watched it fly!”

“Did not!”

*are these really the clan’s future warriors?* Snakepaw muttered under his breath softly. He padded along the clearing and met where Elmstar and Mudcoat had gathered.

Was Snowfire right? Would there be a fight? Would a cat die, and would it be so important that Starclan needed to warm them before hand?

Silverpaw blew the thought away with the flick of an ear. “Batcoat, will you take Silverpaw, Redfoot and Twigrush down to patrol the ThunderClan border? There have been some reports of their scent smelling stronger than our own.” Elmstar’s tail stayed still behind him as he spoke sternly. *Such a straight-forward leader,* Silverpaw thought. He stood to leave with the other warriors, only to find Redfoot complaining to Batcoat about the stone that hit his head. Batcoat laughed at the remark. “Oh, should I tell Elmstar it’s raining rocks? Starclan, help us!” Redfoot seemed annoyed by his tease. “Gather the rest of the patrol and meet me by the dock, and maybe take me seriously next time I speak with you.” The white and ginger tom stood and left abruptly, leaving Batcoat snickering and padding towards Twigrush to ask her to join the border patrol.

*Oh, boy. More warrior drama. I thought they left that behind as apprentices. Mouse-brains will never get anything done like this,* Elmstar cursed under his breath.

“Even if I did throw the pebble, why would I throw it at Redfoot? I’d throw it at Batcoat if anyone!” Snakekit jumped up and pinned Patchedkit to the rocky ground. “Next time, I’ll throw a pebble at you!”

Patchedkit squeaked in fake fear. “Oh, spare me!” Snakekit stepped off her. “Fine, I’ll spare you.” He smiled, his tail twirling.

*I’ll always spare you, Patchedkit. And anyone who doesn’t will have to face me.*

ashfoot has three kits, eaglekit, spotkit (she-cat with teal eyes), and willowkit (grey she-cat with teal eyes). rabbitsight also has three kits with mudclaw, bushkit (white she-cat with red ears and blue eyes), patchedkit (white she-cat with black and red points), and tawnykit (golden-brown she-cat). tawnykit's tail is atypically short.
