since apparently some of you (hi, Cricket) are interested, I might drop it tomorrow. It has 16 songs out of order, because I don't have enough for a full narrative. It's mostly a Caius playlist, but it does have substance in both characters. I think one of my most notable picks for Kendall is Kerosene by Yves Tumor. My best pick for Caius is hands down PATCHWERK by Sub Urban. I don't normally like Sub Urban, but he hits different on a Caius playlist. I will also drop an analysis if literally anyone cares.

Eiwynn

This week Interactive Fiction and the Choice of Games Forum lost a treasured member of the community.

Murder at the Scene

For those who don't know, Eiwynn was a writer, moderator, and all-around gem of a person. She was also my friend. She was a lot of people's friend - she was open and kind and funny and insightful, and a person like that is bound to make connections and affect people's lives positively anywhere she goes. I could go on forever, but I think a good way to remember an author is by reading her work. At the link above, you can find her Halloween Jam entry from 2024. I tried to get the 2023 one as well but unfortunately the link is broken. I'll post it if it gets reuploaded.

Eiwynn was working on an incredible game called Patchwerks. I was a tester for the project, and it was a beautiful adventure through a fantasy world that was exciting and mysterious and had some of the coolest customization options of any game I've seen. I often told her was "strange in all of my favorite ways." It reminded me of my favorites stories, think Alice in Wonderland and Neil Gaiman's Neverland. The same love for everything different and ethereal and magical in me that gave rise to the wilds of Leas, also lived in her and grew a stunning world that I'll admire and remember for the rest of my life. I don't know what will happen to the project now, but if it's ever released publicly I'll make a post about it here.

My utmost condolences and love go out to her spouse and loved ones.

Looks like the Son of Godfield is about to learn the many secrets behind the SCP Foundation and the many anomalies that he will encounter whether they're friend or foe.

Anyway, follow along - or don't - doesn't bother me.

I'll probably add to this as I think of things but I'm half asleep and running on two pieces of toast and a pot noodle so...

Finally hit Legend for the month! First time doing so with a deck of my own making, though it obviously contains many of the same components as other Tri-Blood Death Knights.

Granted, 3.7k isn't impressive by any means, but it took me a while to iterate into something that felt capable of dealing with the threats on ladder. Some notes about the inclusions I settled on:

Spinley is unbelievably good. Being able to cycle your hand in a pinch against Aggro and Midrange makes finding boardclears so much easier. In control matchups, it either acts as a way to find Fizzle's Snapshot or to cycle extra cards into the deck for Fatigue. Thank you, Mr. Mrrgglton; I hope you have time for tea.

Audio Amplifiers increases Blood Knight's effectiveness FAR more than other classes. That extra mana crystal means board clear into gnome muncher way more often than you'd think. The hand space is nice for managing larger snapshots as well.

Arcanite Ripper is a really good weapon, even if you only trigger a single tick of the effect. A free body can mean everything.

Blood Boils were a surprisingly late entry into the list. At first, I thought the spell density would be too much, but the redundancy made a tangible improvement immediately.

Speaking of spell density- Magatha is usually a 5 5/5 draw 5. In the rare cases you do hit a spell, it's a boardclear. This spooked me at first, but after a while I realized boardclears against blood just don't matter. Hate the character, good card.

Zilliax is a common include for most control decks, but I'll mention him more specifically simply because of how frequently he comes duct-taped to one of the four other mechs in the deck.

Theotar was also a late entry! Got scared that he'd sit in hand and do nothing in a lot of matchups. I mean, I was right, but in the games where he sat in hand, it was usually because I was already winning. Sniping a Value Rogue's Astalor, a Big Hunter's Stranglethorn Heart or a Thief Priest's Patchwerk turned out for the best otherwise.

Mograine is the only reason I won control matchups. I love this card SO MUCH.

Patchwerk is a silly little guy and the reason God will abandon me.

Prison of Yogg-Saron may seem like a silly inclusion, but in truth it usually did what I wanted it to do- clear the board and draw cards! Blood Knight doesn't mind whiffing once so long as the other two charges are decent.
