In defense of Victim: a character analysis

OK before I start

Yeah, I know. I'm a hypocrite lol but, hear me out here.

After really analysing everything Victim has done...I can't say they're actually that bad anymore. Their actions seem extreme but they're actually kind of justified.

First of all, let's look at what most the fandom hates them for. The fight with The Chosen One in The Box. It's hard to watch and they certainly went all out, but it's not like Chosen isn't a dangerous character. He was a villian himself after all.

Chosen and Dark's actions likely led to many sticks losing their homes on websites and getting hurt in the crossfire, even if he was trying to free them. At worst, these actions were deliberate, at least on Dark's part. And how would Victim know if Chosen actually wanted to do this?

And I wouldn't be surprised if Victim knows.

In episode 30 of avm, King sees the first Animation vs Minecraft on a rocket corp TV

And Second sees the first Animator vs Animation during Animation vs YouTube (maybe that's why he recognises them? Theory for another day)

So is it that much of a stretch to say that Victim is somewhat aware of Chosen's past? Especially since they have some kind of access to YouTube.

Obviously this is a bit of a stretch, if Victim had seen Animator Vs Animation V they wouldn't have needed to use the memory reader on Chosen. But they must have known something about him to know that he has a connection with Alan, so it's possible.

On a similar note, they treat Second very differently. Sure, he's a less powerful stick in their eyes so they don't pay much attention to him, but he's still treated with respect.

First of all, he's left unpaused in his cell, despite the fact they already had him paused, they chose to let him at least some freedom by undoing it.

Also, when he was put in a box, it was a lot less violent.

Even when they were testing his powers the employees just...asked him. It was not forceful in any way and no one laid a finger on him.

Even when he was captured they were being easy on him

Agent Smith had second selected,he could have done anything, but all he did was spin then kick him and pause him immediately after. He was hitting him as little as possible, just trying to end the fight.

Then there's the last scene if The Box, probably the most unjustified part. But, here's the thing, Victim only has bad memories of Alan. He hurt and then tried to kill them. I think they believe Yellow is some kind of conspirator with Alan, maybe a lackey of sorts? Whatever they think, I wouldn't be surprised if this is some kind of misunderstanding. They may even be sympathetic towards Dark after seeing him be attacked by the cursor too.

Obviously this doesn't mean they're in the right. They're really not. But their actions have some kind of justice about them, and I don't think they're trying to be evil, so they actually have a good chance of being redeemed. And I can understand them now, so I at least don't hate them anymore.

Part 1 , Part 2

"I can't believe you Levi! I thought we were friends!" You cried, "Thay wont work on me! There is absolutely no way they'll get together. They hate each other more than the enemy!" Levi and you were having an argument about a new anime you started together, more specifically about who the Protagonist was going to end up with. "THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT PERFECT! Enemies to lovers, how could you not vouch for them!?" Levi grabs a pillow and throws it in your face, "Not every rivalry can end up being enemies to lovers!" You grabbed the pillow and smacked him over the head with it. 

This started a pillow fight between you two that only ended after one of the pillows ripped. You both froze when you heard the tearing noise and just stared at each other. "We took it too far." "Yes we did." You threw the pillow behind the couch and sat back down. "Ok how about we make a bet! If they don't get together I'll.. hmm oh I know! I'll wear a maid dress for you and I'll be your personal maid!" You challenged, you stopped to think again "And if I win you'll.. you'll make a pact with me!" Levi met your challenging gaze, "Deal! Be prepared to lose!" You and Levi shook hands and continued the anime.

"WHAT?! That's not fair! She was going to die, that doesn't count!" Levi had paused the anime at a part where the Rival seemed to be dying and the Protagonist held them close, begging them not to leave and kissing her. "It's totally fair!" You unpaused it and watched the next scene, the Protagonist went crazy when the Rival lost consciousness and successfully defeated the villain onto to see the Rival alive and well. The anime wrapped up soon after with an epilogue where the two got married.

"Ha! I won!" You cheered, you felt giddy after the ending episode. Levi couldn't help but smile at your giggling, you were just so cute he couldn't be angry. "I still think the childhood friend would've been a better match." Levi fake pouted, you wrapped your arms around his shoulders and leaned your head on him. "Aw dont worry there's always Fanfics and Fanart." You gave him a gentle head pat, making him blush, "M-MC!" You giggled, "There there." You continued, Levi found himself really enjoying your touch. His eyes closed and he leaned into you. Your heart skipped a beat and you smiled, you didn't want to move from this position, it was nice.

When Levi sat up again you let him go. "Soo~ are we gonna make that pact or what?" You asked with a chuckle, "Fine, only because I lost our bet." He grumbled, holding his hand out to you. Instead of placing your hand on his you intertwined your fingers almost making Levi short circuit. He inhaled sharply then began, you felt as if something was slithering up your leg and flinched, "Don't worry, it's just the pact mark." He explained, the feeling went away after it had traveled up your entire leg, stopping at the top of your inner thigh. For some reason this felt more intimate than it was.

You looked down to your leg and saw a mark that looked like a tail coiling all the way up your leg. "Whoa." You said in amazement, you reached down and traced part of the marking. When you were done staring at it you turned back to Levi who was a blushing mess. "Hehe you're so cute when you're embarrassed!" You tacked him in a hug. But Levi wasn't embarrassed, he was so in love and seeing how you seemed to love his pact mark made him feel extremely flustered. Levi didn't go home that night, he wanted to stay by you throughout the rest of the day.

In my first Hollow Knight game file I went around killing things to fill up the Hunter’s Journal enough to get the Hunter’s Mark.  It wasn’t too hard because I’d spent so many hours in the file just trying to beat the game so I’d had plenty of opportunity to kill a lot of things, so it really just meant going back to a few places and getting more of some rarer creatures.  I slaughtered the requisite number of each thing I had an entry for.  But still the Journal was saying I was entirely missing an entry.  How?  I’d beaten every boss except the Godhome pantheon bosses and whatever awaited at the very end of the game (which I didn’t even know for sure yet due to avoiding spoilers).  But surely the Journal could be completed and I could report back to the Hunter before finishing the game, right?

But then I checked a wiki and learned. That what I was missing. Was God Tamer.

Because I had not in fact beaten the Trial of the Fool.  I hadn’t really even gotten close--at my best, I’d always died during the part where there’s no floor and you have to climb the walls and kill all the flying enemies.  I gave up after hours across several days of trying, because I didn’t really care about the achievement and had plenty of geo and nothing left to buy.  But I decided I’d come too far with the Hunter’s Journal to give up on that.

So I zoomed back to the Colosseum and spent several more hours trying. And trying. And trying. Different combinations of charms, different play strategies...nothing was working.  Although I did get very good at the early parts of the trial through sheer repetition, I just could not make it through the floorless section.  And it took so long to even get there that it was really becoming frustrating and not fun to keep on trying.  And I did not want Hollow Knight to be not fun.  So I told myself, one day when I was home all alone: “One more try, and then I’ll just give up at least for another while.”  My best runs so far had always involved the Grimmchild, so I reconfigured my charms again to include them, collected my shade and filled up my soul, and crystal heart yeeted myself into the arena one last time.

And I got lucky.

Somehow, FINALLY, for no reason other than sheer dumb luck, I managed to get through the floorless part of the trial for the first time ever.  I was even able to heal pretty well very quickly after that somehow.  I got through the next few waves, just sort of internally screaming the whole time, and after a short while...I did it.  I got through.  I plowed through all the wacky chaotic gauntlets of enemies, and got to the end.  There was a brief respite and then the sounds of a big THING coming, and I knew.  I had finally gotten to God Tamer.  I couldn’t believe it.  I paused the game and got up from my desk and walked around the house for a few minutes, lowkey dissociating, with a voice in my head chanting, “This is your one chance, KidK.  You can’t practice this like you could practice all the other hard bosses in this game.  Because you will never get here again.  You have to beat her now.  And you can.  So do it.  Do it.  DO IT.”  Giggling nervously to myself, I sat back down, cracked all my knuckles dramatically, and picked up the controller.  And unpaused.

The fight was utterly ridiculous in its intensity.  I’d literally never even seen God Tamer before except in fanart, and had never seen her beast.  Which, since it was clearly the bigger threat, I--it turned out wisely--decided had to go down first.  So I just sort of flailed about at it without any real strategy.  I kept losing health, healing, running around, trying to pogo on its head, freaking out, yelling...

And then suddenly I had only one health mask. And was stuck with no way to run off to go heal. And the beast was rolling straight at me. And it hit me. But at that point I swear time slowed to a crawl, because somehow at the exact same instant...

Spat one last little ball of pink fire at God Tamer’s beast with a defiant cry. And killed it.

So while my shell was splitting open and my shade was erupting out and my soul vessel meter was shattering... The beast was also going through its own brief death throes and God Tamer was moaning over her loss...and... And the little achievement box popped up with its usual chiming sound effect. “Keen Hunter.”

The game did not decide that I had beaten the Trial of the Fool that day, presumably because I didn’t live to see the audience react and claim my prize.

But thanks to my perfect and glorious little red vampire friend, whom I love with all my heart, I got God Tamer’s journal entry, and completed the Pokédex. Which was what I--no, WE--had set out to do.

~Ein Chocolate Truffles~

I know he isn’t loved by everyone, but I really love him as a villain. I chose chocolate truffles, because Ein is something deadly disguised as something sweet. And if you still don’t like him, just think: His food is something that could kill him if he ate it lol XD

 This is the END of the food series! *Sob* I wanted to end it with my favorite villian~ This is definitely a favorite for me in the food series. My favorite part to draw was the truffles, but something tragic happened when I drew them. I was recording the process for the speedpaint, and paused the recording to answer my door. When I came back, I forgot to unpause it. THAT'S RIGHT!!! I LOST SOME OF THE RECORDING!!!! *SOB*SOB*SOB* >.< Well, I guess I can't do anything about it.

 I LOVED making this series. It's sad that it's done. However, I've officially done all my favorite characters, and I don't want to keep it going for the sake of keeping it going. I want to move on to something else I can be this passionate about.

So I was rummaging through the source code of my favorite videogame, and I found this list of constants, and honestly? They make a great wlw tag-yourself kinda deal (“tag yourself I’m GF_THUNDER”), but also maybe an ask list, where you give someone a number and they say what the corresponding item means to them (“number 20” “when you make brittle with your gf and she gets really excited when it’s time for the bit where you take a hammer and shatter the sheet”).

Or you could do your own answers to all of them like I did (did I mention there are way more under the cut? If you ask me, they just keep getting better). Basically, just have fun with them.
