Do you think that we need vaccination passports? I think it’s too extreme.

I guess I’ll continue to get these questions/questions like this in my inbox until it’s answered. I’m tired of seeing asks like this in my inbox and I’m tired of seeing this on my friends’ blogs. You want my opinion on this? Fine, you’re gonna get my opinion on vaccination passports.

Here’s the thing: you already have one. You might think that it’s an “evil” thing that shoved down your throat, but it’s not. You already have a vaccination passport. If you go to school or visit the doctor, you have a vaccination passport that details every vaccination that you’ve received. In fact, vaccination passports have been a thing long, long before COVID-19 even started! It sounds like a new and scary thing to people because those who don’t understand the purpose of it try to advertise it as something inhumane. It’s not inhumane.

Proof of vaccination has been around since the 19th century--proof of vaccination against smallpox was needed in order to travel across the state in the United States (Taylor, 2021). They weren’t “passports” back then, but rather a certificate that documents everything concerning your vaccination like a passport. Vaccination cards were issued in the 20th century to enter public establishments, private establishments, and gather together in groups to attend events (Taylor, 2021).

Today, the USA strives to make an electronic-based vaccination passport that easy for travel and details vaccination information (Taylor, 2021). The purpose of an electronic vaccination card is not only help bring awareness on who is vaccinated within a community, but help bring awareness and need of herd immunity to that same community (O’Brien, 2021). (”Herd Immunity,” for those who don’t understand this term, is when a majority of individuals within a community are able to not only fight a disease, but pcreate the antibodies needed within themselves to stop a spread). Some countries already have mandated laws requiring vaccination passports to enter into public/private establishments, like Denmark, France, Canada, and some regions in the United States (O’Brien, 2021). 

And before you ask—yes, universities/colleges are entitled to have a requirement for vaccinations and vaccines (Moody, 2021). You are asking permission to be apart of that facility, therefore then can make those rules. It is not a violation of your rights to have it on record that you’re protected against any variants of the coronavirus. I’m pro-vaccination passport, pro-vaccination, and pro-mask. I’ve had a vaccination passport for ages.

the 6b is nice, isn't it!! I've been cycling through a bunch of the defaults lately, here's the ones I use the most...

Sketch: peppermint, 6b

Lines: narinder pencil (fast messy lines), technical pen (refined lines), dry ink (usually merch)

Color: studio pen or gesinski

id like to get better at using brushes that have more texture/transparency/blending someday! I really struggle with mixing colors, so I usually favor pretty opaque hard-edge brushes...
