I think that a lot of characters could benefit from some variation in body type, so even outside of my kink works, some characters are just kind of chunky. It's not dwelled on because it's not porn, but in my Mission Control series, Sta/rscream is older and fatter. It's not that important to the plot (an adventure/coming of age story focusing on windb/lade and the aeri/albots), so it doesn't get brought up.

I've gotten anon hate before saying something like "you took an attractive character like starscr/eam and made him gross" which...honestly cracks me up so hard XD Imagine your love for a character being shattered instantly upon them being a little chubbier than normal. Couldn't be my followers.

yeah i looked into a bit more and it does seen like the show IS very much worthy of criticism and warnings and scrutiny etc etc. and on a personal note if i like for example detested AoT’s popularity bc of its very open fash messaging by a japanese imperialist author i obviously agree with people asking that other harmful shows not be spread around, at least with out proper transparency about their nature (and esp when they apparently eroticize csa etc!)

but what made me laugh about the whole thing (and give mia the benefit of the doubt before looking into it a bit more) was just the later inclusion of manga like berserk and csm in the discussion too, which like. yes are stories with fucked shit in them but ultimately have important things to say and i do think come from a place of genuine empathy (despite the occasional missteps). AND like i dont think that kids deeming said stories BAD and IRREDEEMABLE is a widespread problem but more so just well intentioned kids being. well kids. individually. thats what amused me about the whole thing, partially bc i can recall having similar attidutes as a teen too 😭

For so long there has been this constant radfem fearmongering about “the male gaze” and “fetishizing” and whatnot about literally anything that’s meant to be sexy and titillating, and that’s led to way too many people, especially queer people and especially trans people, to be ashamed of experiencing any kind of attraction and desire or just plain horniness that goes outside an arbitrary pure innocent submissive boundary. And this attitude has spread to so many other communities that it’s inescapable. Can’t be attracted to trans people because that’s “fetishizing.” Can’t be attracted to disabled people cause that’s “fetishizing.” Can’t be attracted to people who are fat or muscular or petite or any other specific body trait or type cause that’s “fetishizing.” 🙄

To me it all stems from this overblown disgust with what cishet men are supposedly into and making a sweeping generalization from that, that anything that a hypothetical cishet dude might find sexy is bad and “male gazey.” We deviated too far from the actual concerns about the needless sexualization in general cisheteronormative society and instead decided to start policing actual adult content that is specifically meant to be sexualized.

Hot take perhaps (sarcastic) but cis straight guys being horny is not an inherently bad thing, and the things they like aren’t inherently bad either. Yeah even the fetishy stuff is fine, really. Unwanted objectification is the real issue, and that’s not what I’m talking about here. So same with how any cishet guys reading this should not feel guilt or shame for being horny about stuff, so shouldn’t anyone else feel guilt or shame for being horny about similar things.

Being sexually attracted to women or having the desire to top or be dominant doesn’t mean you’re “no better than some gross straight dude.” It’s not an indictment of your character, nor “proof” that you aren’t who you really are. Whether you’re cis or trans or whatever gender, kill the radfem pearlclutching homophobe in your brain and be free. You’re doing no one any good, especially not yourself, by curtailing your true desires. There is beauty in your sexuality. Don’t let anyone, including yourself, convince you otherwise.

And yet, the one SV risk factor identified by the study (among many) that gets circulated is used as another illustration of the radfem "porn as root of all evil" theory, which absolutely everyone repeating it understands as part and parcel of the grand "men and boys are the rape gender" narrative. Which is how a research paper with a section titled "Both Male and Female Youth as Perpetrators" gets bandied about as if thru some black magic as one more confirmation of the fundamental yawning moral chasm between violent degenerate moids and pure victimised wombyn. Obviously radfems are not unique in this dark evidentiary sorcery but as ever they are a particularly vivid and morbidly fascinating case study; let all who opine beware!!
