Overjoyed to greet their first child, the newlyweds' happiness is overshadowed by a vindictive producer, who has emerged from her past and threatens to thwart Pedro's directing debut. Just when they think the war is over, Nini is forced to reconcile with her estranged father and deal with an afflicting legacy. In the end, love will be what truly matters.

I traced my index finger across his collarbone, thinking how much I adored him to the core of his soul. "Do you think love is conditional or unconditional?" I voiced my drifting thoughts.
"Asking small questions today, are we?" Pedro grinned from ear to ear, caressing my back with his warm hand. "Smart question for a dumb person."
I protested. "You're everything but dumb." "Ruled by emotion then." We shared a chuckle and I pressed a small, amused kiss to his shoulder. He was, if anything, the most emotionally intelligent person I knew and too humble to realise it.
"I feel like I want to say I love you unconditionally but..." Pedro hummed, gazing at the soft ceiling of our blanket fort. "The moment you think of a condition you've got a clear answer. Yeah, it's conditional. That's what love is." Tilting his head to the side, he looked back at me. "Under the condition that the universe and every atom in it suddenly stopped existing, I'd also stop loving you." My lips parted in pure shock and amazement.
"That's your limit?" I didn't stand a chance against stopping the tears from pouring into my eyes. Pedro looked at me for a moment until eventually, he gave me a silent nod.
I held his glowing face in my hands to make sure he'd receive every single one of my kisses. I had to laugh at myself for needing to wipe away my tears. Pedro's eyes glistened as it seemed he couldn't get enough of my lips either.
"Well-" I sniffed. "Please know that every atom of my being loves every one of yours." His delighted laugh reached my ears, a wet near hiccup. "And I refuse to believe they'd ever stop existing, though may scattered across the entire universe someday." My only wish was to find the essence of his being somewhere across, I knew I would.
It shouldn't have been a surprise at all, thinking back, that the life just created deep within me came into existence amidst this incredible feeling of love. Though the man this broad hand covering my belly belonged to was entirely unaware, if I was honest, I couldn't say the same about me. Somehow, deep down, I knew another angel was on their way to greet this Earth. This was what I would think for years to come.

When Your Lost in the Darkness
Joel and Ellie came stumbling through the door, looking dazed and tired. She had blood on her face and he was looking a little worse for wear, but they were alive. Ellie helped Joel sit down then rushed into your embrace. You had your leg broken in the last fight you had been in, a rough, homemade splint hugged your shin.
She clutched at your waist tightly, almost catatonic. You returned her embrace and looked over to Joel. They were both silent. So you bent down, trying to avoid messing up your leg worse, and looked Ellie in the eye. You had your hands on both sides of her face.
“What happened Ellie?”
You question her quietly, keeping your voice light. Her eyes gloss over and her lip quivers. She wrapped her arms around your neck and shoved her face into your chest. You heard her fighting back a sob. You rubbed her back, attempting to soothe her, and looked over to Joel once more. His face was a tornado of emotions. Fury, sorrow, despair, and hurt.
“Can we talk about it in private please? Please?”
She pulled back, her grip like a vice on your shirt. You nodded and took her hand. You limped to the bedroom in the back and sat down on the floor. Ellie plopped down in front of you. You looked at her expectantly but said nothing. You didn’t want to push her in any way. You wanted her to trust you enough to tell you anything.
She didn’t look at you. She only stared down at her feet. You pat the ground next to you, offering comfort if she wanted. She was at your side in less than a second. She shuffled into your side and laid against you. You again wrapped your arm around her. She breathed in deep and started retelling what happened.
She told you about Silver Lake and the cannibalistic residents. She then took a pause. She grabbed and fiddled with your shirt. She then hesitantly told you about David. The fire, the cage, the close call she had with James. All of it. Watched as your face darkened when she told you about what David was planning to do.
Blind rage filled you to the brim, blurring your vision. Your breathing shallowed, your jaw tensed, and your fist was clenched tightly. She quickly informed you that the bastard was dead, your expression lightening a bit. She sniffled against your side and clutched your clothing tighter.
“You're not alone El. I know it sounds cliche but I understand how you feel.”
She looked up at you.
“Really?”
You nodded. She asked you what happened. You pulled the painful memory from the very back of your brain. You never wanted to think about it again but you would do anything to support the little girl next to you. You told her of that night. No explicit details, not wanting to upset her. You told her how you felt afterward. You finished and the room went quiet. Ellie was still for a moment.
“Does it get better?”
Her voice muffled by your shirt.
“Eventually. It’s going to take a while and it’s gonna suck for a really long time, but it will get better.”
That seemed to ease her slightly. You moved to get up but was stopped by Ellie grabbing your sleeve.
“Thanks. It really helped y’know. Knowing that I’m not alone.”
“You’ll never be alone. Not when Joel and I are here.”
You nod and give her a faint smile. She hugs you again and gets up to leave. You listen to her footsteps as she walks out of the room. You tilt your head back against the wall and let out a sigh. You struggle while trying to get up, almost falling flat on your face. But you were caught by a strong figure grabbing you around the waist. Joel set you back on your feet but didn’t loosen his grip on you. He looked disheartened.
“Are your alrig-”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
Joel interrupted you mid-sentence.
“I don’t-”
You couldn’t look him in the eye, so you stared down at his shoes. He pulled you in for a warm hug. He soothed you, rubbing his hand up and down your back. You sighed and reciprocated. He helped you back into the main room and sat down on the couch. The two of you sat quietly. You had your head on his shoulder and he had a hand around you. He was warm. Your mind emptied and you melted into him.
