Food shouldn’t be looked at as “good food” or “bad food”. Cookies can be good foods. But they can also be bad foods. It’s not about what is good or bad, it’s about what you are eating at a specific time and place. What did you eat for that meal? What have you eaten for the day so far? What kind of activity are you doing? What environment are you in? These are all factors that determine what you should be eating and when🧘🏼‍♀️⛷👩🏼‍💻🎉 . #antidiet #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #newyearsresolutions #quotes #nutritionist #eatwellbewell #balance #fuelyourlife #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves https://www.instagram.com/p/CKaf4w8J5-K/?igshid=vfg7r1hnnjbi

Happy Valentine’s Day from David and I to you 💞 Spending the weekend in a snowmageddon ❄️ ice, fallen trees, all weekend power outages. It’s been a crazy weekend for sure, but as long as you are with the ones you love, it’s not so bad 💞 Shoutout to my amazingly talented friend @portraits_by_chels who made this super cute portrait of David and I. Here are 4 different types of movement that you can focus on throughout your week 🏋🏼‍♀️ movement is not only beneficial for the physical, but is an amazing outlet for anything mentally. Aerobic or endurance exercise include speed walking, running, cycling, HIIT workouts anything that gets your heart beat going! This is great for your heart health ♥️ Resistance or strength exercise is anything that focuses on building muscle, squats, bicep curls, pushups. Help build muscles, better mobility, and to help prevent injuries as we get older. Stretching daily is something that I need to focus on doing more of. This helps with preventing injuries and muscle cramps, pain to joints and muscles. Just need ten minutes a day! 🧘🏼‍♀️ And balance we can gain from our other exercises and to build those little accessory muscles that you don’t usually use when you don’t focus on balance. And lastly, just being more mindful of moving more through the day and getting up often to move! 🥋 . #antidiet #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #exercise #quotes #nutritionist #eatwellbewell #balance #fuelyourlife #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves #aerobicexercise #strengthtraining https://www.instagram.com/p/CLMfQR-J1N0/?igshid=7efuy2eglujn

My main form of exercise was always at the gym. When all the gyms closed from the pandemic, I lost the one place I would go to get my exercise and to get away from my stressors of everyday life. I found other ways to work out. Watching videos on social. Going on walks, hikes and bike rides. Joining a virtual gym and doing workouts at home. These are all great forms of exercise! And I still do them. 🚴🏻‍♀️⛷ 🥾 But what has kept me the most motivated while working out at home has been @onepeloton 🚲 . I thought about getting one for a while now but didn’t want to spend the money. I needed something though that was going to give me more motivation, especially since I don’t get as much activity in the winter as I do in the summer. Since I am not spending money on a gym membership, I thought this would be the best thing I could do now. 🌟🙌🏻 I am so glad I decided to get one. Just having it for a few months, I can already see such a huge improvement in myself both physically and mentally. I hop on the bike or join a strength class and they tell me what to do, and they kick my ass! Which I really need. I absolutely love this bike and all of the programs that they offer. If you are having a hard time working out at home, I highly suggest getting at least their membership for the other classes if you do not want to spend the money on the bike. You will not regret it! I also have a little discount code for accessories if you do decide to cave just like me! 💪🏻💚 . #antidiet #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #newyearsresolutions #quotes #nutritionist #eatwellbewell #balance #fuelyourlife #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves #workoutathome https://www.instagram.com/p/CKw92V6pHKP/?igshid=136nbivdjgyy1

Everyone is always trying to figure out what they should be eating each day 🌟 like I was talking about in my last post, it’s not about food being good or bad it’s about it’s timing of food and the place you are having it. Cookies aren’t a bad food, but eating too many at the wrong time can be more harmful than good. So I break it down here for you 👇🏻 🤸🏼‍♂️ Your activity: if you are sitting at a desk all day not moving your body, eating chips and sweets all day might do you more harm then good. If you are being active, walking in your day and participating in movement, your body can handle more of the “carby” foods. Your body needs carbs throughout the day, the amount of them can change based on activity 🚴🏼‍♂️ 🎉 Your environment: don’t worry about what you eat when you are out with people. Enjoy yourself. One meal will never set you back. 🍽 Your plate: what you’ve had for the day and what you’ve eaten for that specific meal along with all these other factors play a role in your daily intakes. 💭 Your feelings: how does food make you feel when you eat it? Does it give you energy for that time? Does it make you crash? Does it serve a purpose for that time, physically as well as emotionally? We don’t want to put total restrictions on foods but to realize, that in order to be the healthiest possible, you have to know food has a time and place and to listen to how it makes you feel 🤍. #antidiet #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #newyearsresolutions #quotes #nutritionist #eatwellbewell #balance #fuelyourlife #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves #timeandplace #everything https://www.instagram.com/p/CKrQ0oVJfQw/?igshid=b2c68sdtek4o

Let’s be real here ⚡️ Making short term goals are awesome. But a lot of goals we create on the new year don’t last long term and aren’t meant to be short term. Here are my personal goals that are long term that aren’t just for a few months or just this year. Being healthy is a lifestyle 🌟 It’s good to be as healthy as you can but to enjoy the small things and the good things as well. All food is good, moderation is key 🔑 A few things you can do to help you maintain a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally: - having a balanced plate filled with fiber and protein. - Eat your temptations. If you never give them up, you will never cave. Have these when you want, but being mindful of how it makes you feel. - Moving your body is an important part of any day and can help prevent many chronic illness. - sleep as much as you can that makes you feel refreshed each day. - Take time daily to do something that releases endorphins and takes away daily stressors . #antidiet #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #newyearsresolutions #quotes #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves #goals https://www.instagram.com/p/CKPbpx3psqX/?igshid=jp3wz0by97z1

Dietitians are thought of to most people as the food police, which in their defense, it has been thought for many decades that dieting is the way. Today we try to move away from diet culture and focus on fueling our body through mindful eating and eating what makes you feel good. Going on diets that restrict what you eat what you eat just makes you crave in the end and usually follow going back to your old ways. Most likely, your old ways are better, but just may need some tweaking to make you feel better. All good has its time and place. If you just eat carbs all day, of course you won’t feel your best. If you only eat small portions and aren’t fueling your body with enough food, you are going to be hungry! Being hungry is natural and is there for a reason. Instead of restricting food and eating only small portions of food, look at your plate and ask yourself “will this food fuel me for what I’m intending to do today?” Eat a plate balanced with carbs, protein, and fat, and snacks that consist of a protein with a carb 🧀🍏 Enjoy your favorite foods and have dessert if that’s what you want that day. 🧇 Move mare through the day. Be mindful of the kind of activity you are getting each day to make you feel good 🏋🏼‍♀️ Aim to get 7-9 hours of sleep daily 💤 Go to sleep around the same time each night. Being mindful on how many fluids you are consuming daily 💧 A combination of all of these daily will make you feel better, give you more energy, and ultimately won’t lead to cravings and weight gain. . #antidiet #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #newyearsresolutions #quotes #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves #eatthedamncookie #carbs #carbsareenergy https://www.instagram.com/p/CJ6tpGIp_tp/?igshid=grzfjt9iypwg

With all of the New Years health promotions and weight loss ads, it’s hard to not fall into the trap of feeling like you are doing something wrong or that you need to completely change the way you do things in a drastic way. Doing things drastic only hurts you in the end. It’s not sustainable. Eating healthy and living healthy should be a lifestyle and not a quick fix. I think it’s important to look at what you are doing now and to see what you can add into your life to make it better for you. If you want to lose weight, do it. If you want to workout more, do it. If you want to feel better, do it. But do it in a way that will help you stick to it long term. I think having resolutions (AKA goals) are very important to have. But think of them as lifestyle goals. What can I do for myself now that I can carry with me throughout my life. If you restrict yourself from too many things or push yourself over your limit in a short period of time, it could do more harm than good both physically and mentally. Typical resolutions are to lose a specific amount of weight in a certain time frame. To get more energy. To sleep better. To workout more to lose weight. These are all good goals. But they are goals we can improve and work on daily and slowly and still see results. Make it fun, don’t make it stressful. We have enough of that to worry about already. 💛 #antidiet #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #newyearsresolutions #quotes #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves #dietitansofinstagram #norestrictions #eatcarbs https://www.instagram.com/p/CJzBknup1u1/?igshid=d5sq1pkxog9w

Vitamin D... known as the sunshine vitamin is produced by the body’s response to sunlight ☀️ and occurs naturally in a few foods. Fish oils, fish liver, egg yolk and in fortified dairy and grains. Vitamin d is essential for the body because it helps use calcium from the diet to create strong healthy bones. It’s also been shown in research to help support your respiratory system, especially important during the pandemic. Being vitamin D deficient is super common so taking a vitamin d supplement daily is one that I highly recommend everyone taking to help support a healthy immune system 👌🏻 Read my post a few back to learn more about mushrooms and vitamin d 🍄 #vitamind #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #loveyourself #loveoneanother #quotes #nutritionist #eatwellbewell #balance #fuelyourlife #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves #thatvitamind #nationalnutritionmonth #vitamins https://www.instagram.com/p/CM-vqUSJdlF/?igshid=1w6pzgt0ja1t5

Do you ever get confused on what food is good vs bad? Well DONT! All food has its time and place! There are no labels when it comes to food, just food that fuels us! Unfortunately, there are a lot of perfectly healthy foods that get a bad rep because of whatever the reason may be 🤬 let’s name a few: 🍌 banana: these often are avoided because they contain too much sugar! Bananas are full of potassium 🥜 salted nuts: all our bodies need salt. Salt is not a bad thing! If you like to eat salted nuts, eat them! 🍞 whole grains: whole grains contain fiber and antioxidants and helps create fullness and satiety and helps with heart health 🧀 cheese: this is a dairy product but cheese is full of calcium, fat and protein, and is great for bone health 🍳 whole eggs: egg yolk contains carotenoids and many healthy nutrients and protein and yes it contains cholesterol but your body can compensate for cholesterol levels so eating a few eggs each day is perfect for getting a high protein inexpensive complete protein in. 🥔 potatoes: potatoes come in many different shapes and colors and are higher in potassium then a banana. Good source of fiber, vit c and B vitamins. Another point: just because these foods are brown means nothing! You should aim to eat the rainbow but don’t think foods that are brown or yellow are “bad”. A lot of these foods are high in either carbs or fats and we should not be scared to eat them because of this. They are all beautiful foods that should be enjoyed and not feared! 🤗 . #limitrestrictions #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #loveyourself #loveoneanother #quotes #nutritionist #eatwellbewell #balance #fuelyourlife #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #funfacts #bananas #carbsarelife https://www.instagram.com/p/CMOWda4h--8/?igshid=fdb192t3qpig

A good reminder that Valentine’s Day is just one day, but should be treated like any other day ♥️ Everyday you should try and follow these reminders. We all struggle with hard days and can’t live by these all of the time, but trying to remind yourself that you matter and so does everyone else 🤍 . #dietculture #mindfuleating #mindfuldieting #motivation #dowhatyoulove #rd #trusttheprocess #registereddietitian #empowerwomen #workout #2021 #loveyourself #loveoneanother #quotes #nutritionist #eatwellbewell #balance #fuelyourlife #healthindustry #wearamask #pelotondietitians #healthyeats #movement #makingmoves https://www.instagram.com/p/CLhMwpwpUqo/?igshid=6fzperbc74sk
