Ooh, good one! In no true order:

1) It’s a classic, but it’s a classic for a reason: “Forgive me. I was so afraid for you that I forgot to be afraid for your enemies.” The entire Shopping Trip is a highlight, of course, but the debriefing really is what makes the whole thing, from Aral deadpanning right back at Cordelia when she says “Shopping” to “I suggest you throw yourselves to his mercy. He may still have some (I certainly don’t)”, but that particular line is fantastic.

2) Miles declaring himself a knight-errant in Reina Csurik’s name, to himself. Possibly my favorite quote in all the series (though it is a long one,) and such a stellar novella.

3) “On my order. On my hands.” Gonna pick a scene that isn’t one of my favorites to reread just because I loved it SO MUCH last time: Elli Quinn ordering a cryochamber dumped to save Miles, knowing exactly what she’s doing as she says it and that he would never give that order himself. Heartwrenching, especially coming right on the heels of Mark suddenly and abruptly accepting that he is Mark.

Runners up: Elena rolling on the floor laughing as Miles and Gregor effortlessly play Cavilo despite being on separate spaceships with a time delay, totally improvised; Literally all of Memory but especially Miles realizing who he is and the Fishing Trip; Miles performing Shakespeare at Duv Galeni while on fast penta because he had the entirety of Richard III memorized (jumping up and down on the benches and doing falsetto for the women’s parts, of course); Mark adopting a brilliant but financially-challenged scientist and his thousands of bugs and then getting everyone else in on his new business venture.

SMG-1 & SMG-2

Former Avatar: Juliano

The first SMGs ever created, the Prototypes. Created by Admin Byte, it wasn't for the purpose of guarding universes and keeping the meme cycle going, but for the Admin's own gain to mess with universes.

This failed, however, as SMG-1&-2 were kindhearted Guardians to their Avatar, Juliano. However, after an attack on their world, their Avatar died, and they were promoted to Admins. They are now known as Domain and Forum, respectively.

SMG0 & Niles

Statuses: Deactivated

Former Avatar: Fred

In the video game Mage, there was originally only a single SMG for the universe as Admin Byte intentionally didn't tell Admin Lag that two SMGs were needed for balance. However, this wasn't for long, as the God Box created Niles, a false SMG to pair with SMG0.

However, this wasn't to last, as after an attempt to repair his imperfect code, Niles went insane due to the God Box and killed his Avatar, Fred. Following a forced fusion between him and SMG0, creating SMGØ, a being hellbent on finding another Avatar and remaking the fallen universe.

The duo were put to rest by the combined efforts of Avatar Mario, his Guardians, and Fierce Deity Melony.

SMG1 & SMG2

Statuses: Semi-retired/Active

Former Avatar: Spudnick

While they lived in peace with their Avatar for many years, this was eventually broken when SMGØ landed in their universe, intent on shaping Spudnick to be a new Avatar. However, this failed, causing Spudnick's death and the destruction of their universe.

They now reside in the SM64 universe, being mentors to SMG3 and SMG4, and generally doing what they can to help out.

SMG3 & SMG4

Avatar: Mario

Their activation has been dubbed the Worst To Ever Happen. Several things went wrong, including the inclusion of SMGØ and SMGs 1&2. There have been many incidents regarding their universe, but they've always come out on top for their Avatar and friends, so they're typically left to handle themselves. They're remarkably close with their Admins, Forum and Domain.

Gonna answer this one for Aurien since I'm not sure what the answer would end up being for Orion. Something scary.

Being the Knight-Commander? Being in charge of the Crusade? Having all those expectations and then becoming everything Mab wanted them to? Absolutely not. If you asked Aurien about the experience, they would hate every moment of it. They made peace with their transformation, made their new powers their own, but they've had to finally abandon their one goal from long before the Cruades started.

But there were opportunities that were given. Aurien was able to find out about where they came from, way back before Mab took the twins in. There was nothing from that home to recover, it was almost 300 years ago after all, but they know it existed.

So if there was anything about that period of their life that they liked, it was being able to learn about their past. Also seeing that Orion wasn't alone since they're leashed to Rekarth and Penta. That eased their mind.

Okay so let's begin, main characters first, then I might do every other level- oh lord

Cyan: he is the leader of the knights/protectors of the treeangle, can do mostly well under pressure, but overwhelming pressure breaks him. He tries to think logically, but can go overboard.

He is prone to stress. He is an adult in this au, and has two siblings, diggy(strike the earth) and galactic (milky ways) and he's the smallest and youngest of the three.

Blixer: ex-monster of paradise, he's just a shy little boi, also yes he is in his small grey form. Is kinda afraid of most of the corrupt because "haha old boss is small". The other blixers try to get him to use the treeangle. He literally has no idea what to do. Also he has a pet spider

Cube/near:they are like a gentle giant, but annoy then enough and your doomed. They kept their claws and saws from near(close to me) and their overall a nice shape. Near on the other hand will absolutely body someone if needed, and is more quiet than cube.

Heli/jet:she is basically a loose cannon. She's chaotic and will rush into things. She cares deeply for her friends, and will do anything to help. Jet, heli's form, will sabotage anyone and anything to get what she needs/wants, and might have murderous thoughts-

Captain/kraken: captain is the navy leader of paradise, and is cautious of everything, especially in the seas. Is literally the only reason heli is alive. He is brave and is of course, captain of his crew. Kraken is like a traditional media pirate, rude and just awful. Like jet, he'll do anything to get what he wants, and usually harms others.

Tri/s.o.s(if you have another name thats better for s.o.s let me know please): tri, the second member in the protectors of the treeangle. She's the fastest and usually makes plans, most fail but when they do work they work wonders. She has a brother, being Baracuda S.o.s is more chaotic and almost all plans fail, but again, the ones that works is a nightmare for those who are against her

Penta/polygon(again, pleasehelp with a better name):penta is the bulk of the group, being able to easily deal with corrupts. He can get angry at times, but is usually calm. He also has a sibling, being spectra.Polygon though is always mad, and will crush someone just because they annoy him. He can pick up something like the spider dance boss.

Circle/Sly:Circle is the smartest one of the group, and trys to work with tri with her plans. They are the calmest of the group and usually calms the rest of the protectors. Sly can emotionally manipulate anyone, and uses that to trick others. They are the leader of the three when their corrupted.

Diggy/striker:cyans older brother, he loves to start chaos. Very energetic and rambunctious. Favorite weapon is a shovel and is very mischievous. Striker is more chaotic and mischievous than diggy, and will hit everyone he sees with the shovel.

Galactic/milky ways:Galactic is the smartest and oldest square siblings, and they usually deal with cyans stress and diggys messes. They are friends with logic and chronos. Milky ways leads them and corrupted, and is still close with striker. They are not a big fan of blixer or LA danse.

Nothing quite like making an atheist self-hating Aasimar with a draconic bloodline only for the second DLC to come out and give me a red dragon whose greatest treasure was the clan he was secretly protecting for a hundred years and died for them and an ANGEL OF SARENRAE with a shard in him!!!

mirage 21 eastman and laird editorial on the topic of licensed products and artistic integrity

Consider this scenario:

A fifteen year old is avidly following Frank Miller's DARK KNIGHT, eagerly awaiting each issue's release. He loves the new, adult treatment of Batman, and by the time issue #3 is out, he is totally enthralled. Then, just before the fourth and last issue arrives at his local comics shop, he happens to be cruising through K-Mart, and sees, out of the corner of his eye, something horrible beyond belief it's a pair of Underoo's printed with the image of Batman and Robin from the SUPER POWERS animated TV show.

Crushed, his belief in the purity and integrity of his favorite fictional character shattered, the fan refuses to buy the last issue of DARK KNIGHT, moaning "Putting Batman on underwear just kills it!" the 'it' in question being, of course, any value to the character of Batman or his enjoyment of any manifestation of that character. Not only does the fan not buy DARK KNIGHT #4, but stops buying all comics with Batman in them.

Does it sound ludicrous? Does it sound unbelievably stupid? Does it sound like the worst kind of fanboy pouting?

It sounds to us a lot like what we heard from several attendees of Fred Greenberg's Comic Book Marketplace show at the Penta Hotel in New York City, which all the Mirage Studios creators attended as guests on June 17 of this year.

While manning our tables and signing books, we had three comics fans, ranging in ages from 10 to 17 (approximately) come up to us and, with varying degrees of obnoxiousness, argue that because the turtles have been used in licensed products, the original comics currently being published by the creators of the turtles (Kevin and Peter = Mirage Studios) are completely without worth or value. The youngest of the three, wearing his unlicensed pirated TMNT t-shirt, looked at the TMNT cereal boxes in our display and said "When you have a cereal, that kills it."

We argued back, with varying degrees of politeness, that the books that we publish have no connection with the licensed merchandise, and that we have always made it a point to keep them separate something that we have no doubt bored you with in previous editorials.

Perhaps there is some age or level of perception or maturity that one has to reach before one can separate the various aspects of one's beloved things, be they people, experiences, fictional characters, or whatever. When you get to that point, you can enjoy reading BLOOM COUNTY while detesting Opus dolls; you can love the Beatles' song 'Revolution' at the same time you dislike the use that shoe company put it to: you can be fascinated by dinosaurs even though you can't stand the way badly cartooned renderings of them are goofily silkscreened onto beach towels… and the list goes on.

All we can do is hope that along with us and all of the other creators here at Mirage Studios, the majority of our readers have reached that point.

It's been a while since I've done one of these, so helpful reminder: This is nothing like AEW's official rankings, based on actual stats. I just go by which wrestlers a) are pushed/protected by the promotion, and/or b) get over with the audience. It's an inexact science, but that's only because it's not real.

These (fake!) rankings seem to go along with the old adage that "the championship doesn't make the wrestler, the wrestler makes the championship." I'm confident Swerve Strickland will become a great world champion, but for now he's clearly still standing in the shadow of AEW's top act, Jon Moxley. "MMA math" would tell you that Mark Briscoe should outrank the man he just beat for the ROH title, but Eddie Kingston is clearly a hotter name and a bigger draw. Semantics suggest that the international title is more prestigious than the continental title, but that won't fool anyone into thinking Roderick Strong is a bigger deal than Kazuchika Okada.

The heel side is so weak that, after I heard Powerhouse Hobbs is injured, I had to stick Zak Knight in there to come up with ten. That will probably change as AEW regroups for the storylines heading into Double or Nothing. Strickland in particular needs a solid lineup of heels to beat over the next six months. So maybe it's just as well that Don Callis and Chris Jericho are recruiting...

It's wild to me that the list above is so sparse when AEW just finished a 10-team tournament for the AEW tag title. Some of those teams shifted into ROH or the trios division, others had one man go MIA, and some appear to be split up for good. I assume the plan for Double or Nothing is for the Acclaimed to refocus on two-on-two action and chase the Young Bucks, mostly because I don't see any other challengers on the horizon.

You'd think this would lead to a push for the only babyface trio left--Andretti & Top Flight--but I've been expecting that for months with nothing to show for it.

I'm still not satisfied with the amount of coverage AEW television gives to the women, but I have to give them credit for keeping so many of them on TV at once. In the past month we've seen: 1) Willow, Kris Statlander, Julia Hart, Mercedes Mone, and Skye Blue feuding over the TBS title; 2) the Storm/May/Shirakawa love triangle; 3) the rising tensions between Rosa and Purrazzo; 4) Deeb finally going after the world title. Not to mention 5) the endless Ruby Soho/Saraya feud, which is apparently called on account of pregnancy but still counts! If you also include everything the women are doing in ROH, things are pretty lively, especially when you consider how much smaller the women's locker room is than the men's.

Most of these wrestlers seem to be earmarked for Ring of Honor for the long term, forming the backbone of the brand. The ROH weekly shows are fine, and I can more or less squint and pretend it's a continuation of the old ROH. But realistically, it's just AEW Dark with a fresh coat of paint and a $9.99/month subscription fee.

The big story here is the Patriarchy (Christian, Killswitch, and Nick Wayne). Cage has been off TV since Adam Copeland, uh, hit him in the nuts with a board covered in nails. Under the circumstances, it makes perfect sense that he'd stay home a good long time to sell the effects of that! Since the rest of the group is defined by their blind obedience to him, it figures that they're benched for as long as he is.

I'm more surprised that Jeff Jarrett's crew has laid low for a long time, but I'm not complaining. (Hope I haven't jinxed it!)

Danhausen's presence on AEW/ROH programming has been almost nonexistant for months, and I wish I knew why. I'm glad he's got the freedom to work indy shows while he's not being used, but that doesn't address why he's not being used in the first place. I have to figure one side or the other isn't happy and is just waiting for his contract to expire.

I think this is the longest list of inactive wrestlers I've ever compiled for one roster. Of course, Adam Cole has all but said he's medically cleared, and Danielson and Hook are working angles. Even so, there's a lot of injured wrestlers on that list.

This serves the talking point that AEW has an injury problem. But since we don't know the nature of many of these injuries, it's hard to say all of them are due to any particular behavior or recklessness in the ring that AEW can curtail. Some of these wrestlers are simply dealing with back problems that are slow to heal after years of trying to gut through it. Others are no doubt in situations where they'd like to avoid surgery, only to find out that it's unavoidable, so they've only prolonged their downtime.

To me this is why AEW's massive roster is a good thing. Although it works against talent that never seems to get room in the spotlight, it also means there are plenty of wrestlers available to fill spots when big names go down. I'm not saying I don't miss Britt Baker or Miro--I do--but I also never feel like their divisions are dead without them around to prop them up.
