Groomed Men ~ A Brilliant Idea

The first time I spoke to Maria Caruso I thought her simple business idea was brilliant. I only wish Maria was around on my Wedding Day! Groom Men will visit the Grooms Bridal Party on the morning of the Wedding and take care of everything from the Mens Hair Cuts, steaming their shirts, to Tieing their Ties plus Blow Drying the Mother in Laws Hair! What a relief for the Bride to know that the boys are sorted and any dramas Maria will be there to help!

What is your background and what lead you to launching Groom Men? I have a background in hairdressing, weddings consumed most of my weekends, spending a lot of time with the bride you often hear her express concern over making sure her groom is sorted, hair in check etc. I got a couple of requests to style a grooms hair the morning of a wedding, I've also worked in menswear and know a tie can be tricky, and thought I might be onto something here so after a year of contemplating I put the idea into action and “GROOMED MEN” was formed. Tell us about the services you offer to the Grooms Bridal Party on the Wedding Day? On the morning of the wedding, I spend about 2 hours with the groom and his groomsmen. I take care of steaming shirts, doing ties including proper bow ties (something that is becoming very popular) polishing shoes, hair is styled including last minute neck line tidy ups and facial hair, got a spot? We have it covered literally! Pocket squares, page boys dressed and sorted, so mums need not stress. Mother of the groom or any ladies of the house can have their hair blowdried and styled in the comfort of their own home.  The dreaded buttonhole placed on securely, a choice of cologne and a last minute wiz of the lint roller right before you walk out the door.all the while Ladies you can relax the morning of your wedding knowing your groom is on time, ready to go and looking his absolute best standing at the end of that isle You also have another business tell us about that MC HAIRSTYLIST. When I'm not looking after grooms, I'm looking after the locks of women! I do home and mobile visits, for those mums who struggle to get out of the house or ladies busy with work. I specialize in colouring and styling, and love any chance I can get to work on photoshoots. What do you find is the biggest challenge when owning you own business? Biggest challenge about owning my own business, Is there is only one of me, trying to do it all and accepting I cant do everything, it’s a constant battle! Your best moment so far in your business? Best moment would be launching the website, then getting a notification that I've received my first official email and booking! It’s a pretty exciting and humble feeling.

Who do you look up to for inspiration or admire for their Business growth? Would have to be my good friend Dakota Gilbert, owner of swim label Skye & Staghorn, I have watched her label grow over the years and progress to what it is today!  Even while pregnant and now with an 8 week old baby girl she still manages to run her business and be a mum! What is your advice to Perth Women wanting to start their own business or turning their hobby into a small business? Take a chance and do it! Have all the fundamentals ready, you wont know it all straight away and that’s ok because you’ll soon learn quick enough along the way what works and what doesn’t. If I waited till I was ready and had all the answers I never would’ve taken the plunge! Just roll with it. Ask heaps of questions along the way, seek advice! People will try and deter you, use that critism as fuel! If you're ever having a bad day, stop and take a look how far you’ve come so far! What is your vision for your business? I would to see my vision grow, something that every body is talking about, be so busy I have to employ staff, maybe even franchise over east? But most of all I would love a successful Business that people can really benefit from!
