A series of: Why?

Does everyone compete all the time? Can't we just realize everything's not about winning? Can't we distinguish between opinions and fact? One is often good, though doesn't need to be passionately argued about and is certainly not the only way to go. Do we come to the table with preconceived notions we won't be swayed about? Can't we realize that appearance isn't everything? I get people need to look presentable, but NOONE should feel bad about the clothes they wear. (on that note) Are shoes so expensive, yet we don't use them until they fall apart? Can't I be with the one I truly love with all my heart? I mean, I don't think she's not gonna go to college and forget me, but it'll be harder to see her cinnamon-colored skin and to hug her forever and kiss her until I've gotta come up for air. Parasite-ridden dog surrendered at dog pound that is completely full. A thin dog, who was surrendered by her owner to a dog pound that is currently so full that there are no empty kennels, is in desperate need of help. The five-year-old dog, named “Tess,” is at the Cleveland County Animal Control in Shelby, North Carolina, and she has been there since March. Tess arrived with a body that was infested with parasites – the worms robbed her of nutrients and left her thin. During her time at the animal control agency, she has gained weight, but nobody has expressed interest in rescuing her. Now, this long-timer needs urgent help because the facility is completely full. Overpopulation

In Canada there are around 7.9 million cats and 5.9 million dogs yet only 37% of Canadian households own cats and only 32% own dogs.

Shelters and rescues are jammed pack of animals with many being put down simply due to the fact of overpopulation. There are not enough pet owners vs animals needing a home.

Canada’s unwanted pets are fortunate enough to have shelters, unlike many developing countries who cannot provide the care needed. In these countries dogs and cats live in streets, half feral, diseased, emaciated, riddled with worms and ticks and suffer.

Petango is an awesome website for adoption  and is also one of the few websites that actually gives you an idea of the sheer number of animals that are available for adoption. They have partnered up with animal welfare organizations in both Canada and the United States and have found homes for over 224,133 animals in this year alone.

Why is it not mandatory that all animals be spayed and neutered? The only people that would have a problem with this are breeders and puppy mill owners, who get cash for litters.

According to the World Society of Protection of Animals (WSPA) there are about 475 million homeless dogs in the world, which accounts for 75% of the whole canine population.  Some countries are making progress, for example in  Finland its more desirable to adopt a homeless dog, rather than buying a purebred puppy. Australia has also responded to the problem by proposing the Animals Regulation of Sale Bill. It would ban the sale of dogs through pet shops, the internet and newspapers. The aim is to cut off profit from breeders so that they are forced to stop.
