One Day (A Netflix Series) S1E14 // Ballykissangel S3E11
Stephen: Let's just say that I think the best thing you could do is to try and live your life as if she were still here. Don't you think that would be best? Dexter: [sighs deeply] I don't know if I can.

😢 sorry just thinking again about Assumpta Fitzgerald dying and Peter being forced to give her last rights despite him knowing she didn’t want them
#Ballykissangel#its been over 20 years and I’m not over her death#It was so heartbreaking#And then we got a whole episode of Peter grieving

Despite the plethora of Catholic people in my life, my attitude towards religion is mostly summed up as ‘meh personally but you do you’. I also find the notion of priests and nuns being celibate to be outdated and pointless. Having said that, I don’t usually ship characters with clergy. However, there are a couple of exceptions. Eddie Diaz lusting after his wake-up call masquerading as hot priest is pushing for a spot on the very short list. The top spot being Assumpta Fitzgerald and Father Peter Clifford on Ballykissangel (curse the ending to that dalliance -IYKYK).
P.S.: Yes I know the obvious recent example is Fleabag but I never watched it (although, even I could sense their chemistry from online snippets).

Catching Assumpta's attention as she busied herself with handing out pints and various other drinks, Peter had to raise his voice just a little to be heard from the other side of the bar.
"I know this is probably far from your idea of a fun night, but thanks for showing the match. Makes me feel a little closer to home."

My Pokémon Challenges - PT. 2
Game: Pokémon X
Challenge: Nuzlocke
Final team:
Duration: 03/25/2023 - 04/01/2023
[This is one of the easiest and quickest lockes I've ever made. I've always wanted to try the 6th gen for myself, see how it really is. I gotta say, appart from the difficulty level, it was very enjoyable. The esthetic of the region, the music, the customization of the character, the new pokemons... totally underrated]
Nickname explanation:
-> Kurama: I was surprised when I realized my Fennekin was male (stop right there you femenists and furries) and I didn't really know what to name him. Seeing I was a huge fan of Naruto, I named him after the Kyubi because it was the only male fox name I could come up with.
-> Asunción: I know, I know. 'Asunción' (Assumpta in English, I believe) is a female name and my Gogoat is male. But this song had been stuck in my head for so long for random reasons and I was just dying to name one of my pokes like that.
-> Paloma: I think the reason for this one is pretty obvious. 'Paloma' literally means pidgeon and is a very popular name. Not my most original moment right there.
-> Escuero: same with this one. The meme speaks for itself.
-> Goku: yeah, I think we can all agree I got too lazy with naming my pokemons in this run.
-> Happy: no reason at all. I just thought of the kinder snack and the MCU's character and Peter Parker's friend. Ironically this poke always reminds me of when I caught a female one through an ultra wormhole thinking it was shiny. Pls tell me you can relate to that, it was such a bittersweet moment.
[What is a nuzlocke? You can only catch the first pokemon of each route and you gotta give them a nickname so you get attached to them (and receive emotional damage when they die) If they faint, you can never use them again]

The Craft (Andrew Fleming, 1996)
Cast: Robin Tunney, Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, Rachel True, Skeet Ulrich, Cliff DeYoung, Christine Taylor, Breckin Meyer, Nathaniel Marston, Helen Shaver, Assumpta Serna. Screenplay: Peter Filardi, Andrew Fleming. Cinematography: Alexander Gruszynski. Production design: Marek Dobrowolski. Film editing: Jeff Freeman. Music: Graeme Revell.
If the makers of The Craft had had the courage and the skill to parody or transcend the teen-movie clichés and characters -- the mean girl, the horny jock, the embarrassing or absent parents, and so on -- it might have been a genre classic like Carrie (Brian De Palma, 1976) or Heathers (Michael Lehmann, 1989). That the filmmakers even come close enough to elicit the comparison owes much to the performances of the four young actresses who play the film's mischief-working coven. Robin Tunney is Sarah, the new girl in town with untested magic powers; Fairuza Balk is Nancy, the punk-gothic misfit; Neve Campbell is Bonnie, who bears disfiguring burn scars; and Rachel True is Rochelle, the biracial girl in an apparently all-white Catholic high school. Balk got most of the attention for her amusingly over-the-top performance, but Tunney deserves credit for underplaying her role, creating an outwardly normal but deeply troubled teenage girl. Sarah once tried to kill herself -- "the right way," says Nancy approvingly, noting that the scars on Sarah's wrists are vertical, along the vein, rather than horizontal. Falling in with the other three, Sarah not only discovers her own latent powers but also helps the other girls develop their own. Bonnie erases her scars, Rochelle gets even with the racist blonde (Christine Taylor) who referred to her as "Negroid," and Sarah causes the scornful jock (Skeet Ulrich) to fall in love with her. Nancy, however, goes to the dark side, and mayhem ensues. Unfortunately, the plot gets predictable at this turn, and the ending is anticlimactic.

Ballykissangel Parallels - S3E11: The Reckoning
Peter during one of the best moments of his life vs one of his worst
(I blame @fitzgerclds for writing with me and feeding my love for a ship that's like 20 years old - I know The Reckoning is polarising, but I love it so much for what it is and what it had to achieve in one ep.)
#ballykissangel#ballyk#peter clifford#assumpta fitzgerald#stephen tompkinson#dervla kirwan#peter and assumpta#peter x assumpta#the reckoning is such a dark ep - literally! The brightness I had to put on these gifs 🫣

Update: Chspter 2 is uploaded. One more chapter to go!
For the few Ballykissangel fans out there, and especially those who ship Assumpta Fitzgerald and Peter Clifford from BallyK, I’ve just posted the first chapter of my first Ballykissangel fanfic on FanFiction.Net. I’ll post another chapter in a few days and the final chapter next week. I hope you’ll enjoy my little story. Please read and review — I’m such a newbie to writing fanfiction, I would love to hear back from you as you read.

Ok so in this Daniel has a wife who has just turned up but the lack of any potential relationship build with Alex just makes everything weird because of the awkwardness.
Like why is there awkwardness? He seems to have a closer friendship with half a dozen people on the island - including Alex's son!
The thing about Peter/Assumpta is that they clicked so early on especially becuase they shouldn't have. She was the one he leaned on in the community despite (or even because of) her not being part of his congregation.
But on Hope Island, Daniel isn't considered "an outsider" in the same way Peter was, he's been welcomed by everyone, and has had significant storylines or scenes with almost everyone so he hasn't had to grasp onto the one other person who is somewhat of an outsider and that is getting in the way of Daniel & Alex forming an obvious "ship"

“Well, pretend I’m not here. What would you say if nobody could hear it?” ~ Assumpta.
It had been a long week for Peter, and trust Assumpta of all people to drag everything back up again. All he wanted was to go to Fitzgerald's for a quiet drink at closing time so he wouldn't be hassled with questions from the residents of Ballyk about the wayward kid, and now here she was, prying. Part of him knew that she was doing it with good intentions, but even so...
"What do you want me to say? That I feel so... bloody stupid for not seeing just how much Damien was hurting? He came to me, told me just how much his parents' divorce was affecting him. All of his vandalism around Ballyk was just a cry for attention - I should have seen it coming. He didn't want to talk to Brendan, to his parents - he chose me, and what did I tell him to do? Sit his parents down and tell them how he felt, as if that would make a difference."
From what Peter had been told, the attempt at reconciliation had instead resulted in yet another argument, and that had been the final straw. Damien had resorted to overdosing on morphine tablets that he had swiped from the family medicine cabinet in a secluded area of the village. Peter gestured to the remnants of a black eye and cut on his cheek.
"I deserved this from his father. I should have done more - if I had, Damien wouldn't be in hospital, and he wouldn't have attempted to take his own life."
