one of the reasons why bcs is in some terms better than brba is that bcs has much better small characters. brba has some very great secondary characters (max, gomez, all of jesse's friends, old man from junk yard, wendy) but it's pretty easy to forget about the rest of them and all i can say about my favourites is they are "nice" and "cool" and "cute". but bcs minor characters are next level! they are much more alive. not just useful and nice parts of narrative but a real humans with a story that is told by very few details. i could make a post where i list almost every bcs small character and they turn out to be my favourites because there's so much of them (clifford main and rich schweikart, kettlemans, lyle, little guy from the travel wire, margarethe ziegler, david the sommelier, caldera the vet, kristy esposito and many many many more). even the characters from brba that appeared in bcs as a minor ones seem as something bigger and new because they are shown by other means of expression, even if they were one of the mains in brba (hank and marie, francesca, huell, jesse). there are some brba characters that have this "untold potential story" but only because of the narrative (max, domingo, drew scharp, peter schuler) and their impact on other characters' lifes. in bcs characters can have a very small role in plot, but still their story and type reads. maybe it's because of better acting, maybe because of better casting in terms of expressive faces and overall looks, but i think writers and directors learned how to say about the characters more with very little.

LOST GIRL PROJECT #8
Hi everyone, and welcome, to another Woodend!
For whoever's back, so glad and thankful you returned. For whoever's new to it, thank you for joining this """""little""""" fanfiction project, and please be sure to check out the introducting post for everything you have to know about it and to read its prologue, or Foreword, just as both the previous posts.
I'm currently living through a bit of a busy period, right now, so I can't assure you if I'll be able to publish next chapter in time for Christmas (not like you have nothing better to do about it, after all... 😅).
Now, about this chapter, it took me a while to write it down like I wanted to, and to really put into words the feeling I first had watching both the Picnic at Hanging Rock movie and series, as some of its most iconic moments (though, as usual, a little changed to fit my own version of this well known story).
I especially took some time to write down Miranda and her approach to this whole thing, so that she felt as mystical and mysterious as she was in the movie (if not a little more...)
Now, about Marion and Irma... well, it still is a little early to really delve into them as characters, but I wanted to spend a couple of words about Marion's book: I already had mentioned it in a previous chapter, and it is a book by J. M. Barrie himself, the first one featuring Peter Pan as a character.
Tumblr media
There will be more to come about this book, so stay tuned...
About Edith, on the other hand, this is not the first chapter she is featured into. And by now, if you read the story until now, you probably have realised already the way I'm trying to put her down. That said, as close as mine is to her character in every single Picnic at Hanging Rock, I'm especially basing her on Christine Schuler's portrayal of her in the movie, though there's a lot about her that I decided basing on Ruby Rees' character in the series (his sneakiness, her being little more than a child...).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There will be a couple of scenes especially based on the latter, as the story progresses, and I can't overstate how forward I'm looking for them...
Well, guys, that's all for today! See you (hopefully) for Christmas... 🎅
WARNING: I do not own Picnic at Hanging Rock, nor any of the other movies/series/books/songs this fanfiction was inspired from. Again, this is just a fanfiction, and a homage to many of them.

Picnic at Hanging Rock (Peter Weir, 1975)t
Cast: Rachel Roberts, Vivean Gray, Helen Morse, Kirsty Child, Tony Llewellyn-Jones, Jackie Weaver, Frank Gunnell, Anne-Louise Lambert, Karen Robson, Jane Vallis, Christine Schuler, Margaret Nelson, Ingrid Mason, Jenny Lovell, Janet Murray. Screenplay: Cliff Green, based on a novel by Joan Lindsay. Cinematography: Russell Boyd. Art direction: David Copping. Film editing: Max Lemon.
Picnic at Hanging Rock is an unstable mix of a film, playing on, among other things, themes of sexual repression, homoerotic attraction, colonialism, and the curious draw of geological anomalies: Hanging Rock is to the characters in the film as Devil's Tower is to Roy Neary in Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Steven Spielberg, 1977) or Sedona is to contemporary New Agers. We never learn how two schoolgirls and a teacher disappeared on their visit to the volcanic outcropping, but it doesn't much matter. What's clear is that the characters are misfits in both place and time, Australia in 1900. As one of the disappeared girls, Miranda (Anne-Louise Lambert), says, "Everything begins and ends in the right time and place." Like the hoopskirted women and top-hatted men in the wilds of New Zealand in Jane Campion's The Piano (1993), these schoolgirls are uncomfortably muffled against the reality of an Australian summer, to the point that, when they set out for the picnic, they are prevented from even removing their gloves until they have left the village of Woodend, their outpost of civilization. So the three girls who set out on their rebellious adventure shock a fourth, the whining, conventional Edith (Christine Schuler), when they dare to remove their shoes and stockings and proceed barefoot. Edith, who decides to leave the group, will later report that when she met Miss McCraw (Vivean Gray), who followed the girls' path, the teacher was not wearing a skirt. And when one of the girls, Irma (Karen Robson), is found alive but with no memory of what happened, she has mysteriously lost her corset. Several other stories, including the persecution by the headmistress (Rachel Roberts) of the misfit student Sara (Margaret Nelson), are interwoven with the principal incident. But for all its inconclusive narrative and sometimes clashing themes, the movie works by creating a complex symbolic texture. Peter Weir and screenwriter Cliff Green, adapting Joan Lindsay's novel (which was initially thought to be non-fiction), craft a story that tantalizes without frustrating. (Lindsay drafted but didn't publish a chapter with a sci-fi solution involving time warps; her editor was smart to excise it, and Weir and Green were wise to ignore it.)

“this is our time on the history line of God.  this is it.  what will we do with the one deep exhale of God on this earth?  for we are but a vapor and we have to make it count.  we’re on.  direct us, Lord, and get us on our feet." — beth moore
“o God — please give Him back!  i shall keep asking You.” ― john irving
-------
everyday my prayers include that final quote, "o God - please hive Him back!"  not to suffer but to reign - to begin the new age.  Father God - help us get those last few ushered in that will fill up the measure you have allotted (those who are willing to accept Your truth).
i would also quote again the next to last quote.  “this is our time on the history line of God."  "He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘for we are also His offspring.’" acts 17:26-28
seek Him.  share Him.  see Him.  your redemption draws near.  look up - see Him coming in the clouds with great honor and power.  maranatha!  any day now
