**John V. Pinto:** As we celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Woodstock music festival, what do you think made that gathering so special, particularly in terms of peace and love?

**Robbie Robertson:** Woodstock was a moment where people came together not just to listen to music but to share a vision of harmony. It was about finding common ground amidst the chaos of the 60s.

**Levon Helm:** Exactly! We were all there for something greater—civil rights, peace, love. It was a time when music had the power to inspire real change.

**John V. Pinto:** Your rendition of “The Weight” has become iconic. How do you feel it reflects the spirit of Woodstock?

**Robbie Robertson:** "The Weight" is about lifting each other up. The lyrics speak to the collective struggle we all experience. It resonated with the audience because it’s relatable—we all have burdens we carry.

**Levon Helm:** And it’s about community, you know? Back then, we felt like we were all in it together, fighting for a better world.

**John V. Pinto:** Shifting gears a bit, how do you view today's political landscape compared to the ideals of the 60s?

**Robbie Robertson:** It’s disheartening to see how far we’ve strayed. The current Republican party, especially figures like Trump and JD Vance, seems to embody a departure from the values we celebrated at Woodstock.

**John V. Pinto:** What specific actions or rhetoric concern you the most?

**Levon Helm:** Just look at how they treat women and marginalized communities. Trump’s Access Hollywood tape, where he boasts about grabbing women? It’s a complete disregard for respect and dignity.

**John V. Pinto:** And what about their stance on social issues like school lunches and feminine hygiene products?

**Robbie Robertson:** It’s troubling. These policies reflect a lack of compassion and understanding. At Woodstock, we were all about inclusivity and taking care of each other.

**John V. Pinto:** It seems like race has also become a divisive issue in politics. How do you see that playing out today?

**Levon Helm:** It’s sad to see how race is used as a wedge issue. We fought for equality and understanding in the 60s, but now it feels like we’re going backward.

**John V. Pinto:** And what are your thoughts on the “big lie” surrounding the 2020 election?

**Robbie Robertson:** It undermines the foundation of democracy. Back in our day, we stood for truth and accountability. This current narrative is just a way to sow division and distrust.

**John V. Pinto:** How do you feel about the Republican party's approach to issues like climate change and gun control?

**Levon Helm:** They seem more focused on retaining power than addressing the real problems at hand. The spirit of Woodstock was about community and ensuring everyone has a voice, not silencing dissent.

**John V. Pinto:** In conclusion, what message would you like to convey to those who remember the ideals of Woodstock today?

**Robbie Robertson:** We must carry forward the values of love and peace. It’s vital now more than ever to uplift each other and fight for justice and equality.

**Levon Helm:** Absolutely. The call to come together and support one another remains as important today as it was back then. We can’t lose sight of that.
