I'm gonna be too busy celebrating at the hour of observation, so enjoy this year's postcard on this, the eve of the Day Of Recovery. Decided to get the adults all in on this one, since I don't get to draw them as much--especially Mal's parents there on the far right. Just for fun, they're all drawn with the favorite drinks: Odran: Scotch, neat (via his family's distillery at Glen Bash) Olivia: Wine, Shiraz Cyrus: Wine, Pinot Noir Miss Eve Parker: Dry Martini, olive and lemon garnish Phelim: Bourbon, neat Mary: Sazarac (Rye Whiskey, Absinthe, Peychaud's Bitters, Sugar, but with an orange garnish rather than lemon)

If I had my pick of actors to voice the characters of Mallory Bash, this is my current pick set.

Logline: "On a quest to uncover the truth about her missing father, an expeditious girl ventures deep into the forest to take on a wild gang of runaway kids and discovers a mystical world inside the mind of the Dreaming Tree."

It's a mystery quest about the relationship between parents and their kids, as a dark secret festers over ten years and sparks a ground-shaking, town-quaking hunt for the truth on Halloween night.

The story of Mallory Bash, who these characters are, and what drives them has evolved significantly over time, and so there have been many pitch bibles. There's a sense when you've hit it, though, and I've been slowly updating the latest bible to reflect the cohesion of the story as I've been writing the film script. Great stories take time to put the right pieces in the right places so that the themes, character motivations, symbols & iconography, and plot all cohere into meaningful narrative machine that pumps out what we always hope will be an exquisite, engaging, and thoughtful adventure. This is the most updated character page for Mallory, built on the structure of the pitch bible that made the rounds through all the major studios and returned high praise from every creative department that was offered a look at Mallory Bash.

More Mallory! It's been a bit since she's gotten some new pose art, and I needed it for another project. I needed one where she's holding her father's portrait.

Got the time lapse video up for the inking, coloring, and lighting of Phelim Bash from the Mallory Bash series concept and web comic.

I always knew Mallory would have a fairly sizeable cast, but it's important to me to keep the tone intimate.

Mallory Bash #50: “The Treasons We Are Seeking” Odran returns home to confirm his suspicious as to why Mallory ran away, and we discover what Mal’s been carrying around in her backpack all season. Fifty episodes, guys! FIFTY! That may not seem like a lot for a web comic, but it’s the most extensive storytelling endeavor I’ve embarked upon, and it ain’t slowing down any time soon!
