it’s really ridiculous to me that pigeons aren’t more popular as pets cuz like… they are literally the oldest domesticated bird and one of the oldest domesticated animals in general. they are quiet, highly intelligent but not destructive, come in a massive variety of gorgeous colors, breeds, and sizes, and can be very happy living in a fairly small area (ie, a bedroom) so long as they get some daily exercise. they’re granivores and you can feed them sunflower seeds… they are soft and sweet and curious and playful and cute and they are not essentially a human child a la large parrots. i love them so much

I know it's supposed to be a Good omens brain rot blog but fuck it, I'm going to brag about having a infant pigeon.

On friday, a friend called because they found a pigeon that looked like it wasn't a competent pigeon. They were right. Turns out I'm the person you call when you find stray incompetent animals. My professional life might be going nowhere but this is an achievement I'm proud of.

So it's been 4/5 days and I live under the reign of a tyrant. He's a small one, only says piiiiiii, poops everywhere and won't hesitate to try and put his head in your mouth (he got me by surprise the first time and I spent the next hour brushing my teeth and googling what kind of diseases are transmissible between pigeons and humans) and fly on you to demand food.

I'm so glad I'm about to reach my final form: "that weird lady with a pigeon".

Here's Dirk from my trollstuck au! He's called Dirrek Stryde in this one. His lusus was killed for breaking the law a while ago, and he narrowly escaped being culled. In his honor, Dirrek builds his robots in the shape of birds---including a robot body for his auto responder, Lil Troll Hal.

He also has the ability to commune with birds---somehow, both Dirrek and Hal have this power, although Hal's is much weaker.

Neighbour is playing really fucking awful bird of prey sounds on a loop, you can hear through the neighbourhood, sounds like sirens and rough screeching 🙉

like, great, you've stressed all the pigeons, the annoying chirpy birds (because there are a lot of trees here — although they might have migrated) have been replaced with your worse bird sounds, and all your neighbours that can't just fly away 🤦🏼

These pigeons are trying to build a nest atop the air conditioner on my balcony, and I’M trying to put my BABY to SLEEP but they’re being very loud. I went out and scraped their twigs (and nails?? Like metal building nails) off with this branch my daughter brought home a while ago, left that up there. And I let my cat out. I’m sure she would hurt them if she could but I don’t think they’ll let her. I don’t want them hurt anyway, just gone. I need to sleep.
