Pika Rambles about the new OP because why not

If there’s anything I’ve learned from season 6 of MHA, it’s that whatever Twitter’s reaction is to something, I’m likely to have the opposite reaction.

I’m not often one to go into my opinions on things in MHA I feel are “good” or “bad.” Sometimes it happens, but just generally I’ve been trained to read and analyze a lot of things without respect to whether or not I like them or agree with their philosophies. I’m usually trying to understand a story more than anything.

But OPs are a different matter.

I have a weird thing for OPs. I’ve watched many over the years, and in some cases even decided whether or not I would watch an anime based on its OPs. (I’ve also...made a lot of AMVs.) OPs are supplementary material that are opportunities for animators to showcase their creativity and their understanding of the story’s themes. For that reason, I’ll happily ramble about my love for MHA OPs 1-4 and 7 anytime (god, especially 7; I’ll never get over the candy apple sakuga).

This time, OP 11, the ramble isn’t a good one. “What? Really? But everyone agrees it’s the shiniest one yet! Is it just that weird Ochako shit they threw in there?” No, stock anon. It’s so much more than that.

I have opinions.

If you like OP 11...you may not want to read my thoughts under the cut.

I’m just gonna complain in list form from here have fun.

1. First, all the good: I like the song. I realize not everyone’s gonna like the song, but I happen to like it. I also like some of the OP, particularly the first bits of it before the title card drops. I think it’s a good use of some of the cover/non-story artwork Horikoshi drew during this arc. Except already saying that, I can’t help but notice a huge missed opportunity. This cover art would’ve made for an EXCELLENT theme in the OP:

It would’ve made up for the egregious lack of All Might too.

2. That title card is awful. Come on. They used to do fun things with the design or colors or something. This is just...weird effects that maybe will cause someone a seizure. It’s certainly not pleasing to the eye.

3. I don’t have a problem with the split screen bit. It’s not great, but it’s not terrible. Except the animation they give Ochako was basically already used in OP 8 so I don’t know what that’s all about.

4. All the Lady Nagant art is super lame sorry why do they repeat the same angle and pose twice? They could have used other camera angles at least, or even do something more with her younger self and angst? This is about as one-note as her actual role in the story (okay maybe it fits then).

5. I don’t need to complain about the weird ship bait that is the Ochako scene in the way everyone else already has done for me. I have a pressing urge to bring up though that Bones once again shows their lack of creativity here, and it feels like they have a vendetta against Ochako too. Where is her action shot? Her sakuga? There are plenty of moments from this arc that could’ve made a much nicer action shot here. Her smile is so weird because this whole arc she’s getting serious for Izuku’s sake and frowns at him a lot and stands up to him essentially. This feels like heroine-ization and it’s awful. Ochako does much more impactful and moving shit this arc than whatever the hell this is.

6. How dare you cheapen the hand-holding symbol of this series do you even know what the fuck is happening in this manga??? [clings to Iida’s leg]

7. The sakuga of Izuku swinging around is okay, probably the best part of the OP--except then we run into the Lady Nagant issue again

8. What the fuck is the weird white corpse from AoT doing here? What? What is that? Hello?

9. It needs to be said: the sakuga of Iida et. al. looks like absolute ass. I’m sick of fandom just salivating for nothing but sakuga while having absolutely no standards. “Action lines? Cool angles? Speedy animation? Yay it’s perfect!” No, seriously, if everyone’s gonna be so critical of the story and animation and pacing all the time, where’s your criticism of the actual sakuga? This shot looks awful and no one is talking about it. Not only do all the characters involved move awkwardly, you can’t even tell who they are. I wish we could have seen better highlights of the characters themselves, their faces even, including Shigaraki’s. YEAH THAT’S RIGHT. THEY’RE FIGHTING SHIGARAKI IN THAT SHOT. DID YOU EVEN NOTICE? YOU PROBABLY THOUGHT IT WAS IZUKU, RIGHT? SEE HOW DUMB THIS IS? IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR THAT TO BE SHIGARAKI EITHER, BUT IT IS. GO PAUSE A FRAME AND CHECK IT OUT. The special effects of their super attacks at the end also look like ass. This was the worst sakuga we’ve seen since the third movie and I am not impressed and I’m mad other people are.

10. Epilepsy colors Izuku is also terrible sakuga he’s so off-model it hurts I can’t stand watching this bit.

11. The Izuku+Tenko sequence is nice and a good show of creativity, and yet Izuku also looks off-model and I can’t stand how this is NOT the right season for this imagery. So that makes this a spoiler, basically? It doesn’t belong here. I like the subtle hint at the OFA star with the sun glare behind Izuku’s offered hand, but still this feels like they have no idea what this arc is about.

12. Exhibit #999999 that it feels like the animators have no idea what’s up with this arc: the ending image of Izuku doing the All Might fist in the air pose. Like, maybe it works if you read it as “he’s able to represent All Might because everyone else is there with him,” but it just doesn’t...feel right. It’s not earned based on the rest of the OP. Why couldn’t we just have them all be around the All Might statue? I don’t know what are you all even thinking when you draw this shit

Before the leaks tonight, my main notes in the department of “Izuocha not gonna be canon next chapter” is that tsu and Izuku were repeatedly chosen and placed to be in the same, worrying attitude for Ochako’s distance/absence.

Tsu was such a good subtle detail for this chapter as well. That gay ass signaling on Izuocha was so good. Like “this is platonic! Her and Izuku worry over Ochako equally!” And damn Horikoshi you really highlighted, underlined, and bolded in big bright letters Lavender Marriage for these two lmao

My other main detail is the way that Ochako’s/Izuku’s feelings are presented.

Specifically with this last little caption (that isn’t there in the officials for some reason???) on the very last page—

Maybe y’all don’t get it bc you need it put into perspective: the very idea that there would be a “no ships ending” is… absolutely insane. The fact that it’s the main opinion as well is even crazier.

And to put it into perspective even more, the reason it’s a common belief has to come from the idea that Ochako’s feelings are simply unrequited. A “no ships ending” wouldn’t make sense without it. Do the people saying that realize that it’s what they’re saying? “No time” isn’t a good justification, he had the time, he just used it on… other characters instead. If you believe this, you’re making the argument that Ochako’s story is about unrequited love

This line “The girl’s hidden feeings, and as for deku—..”

I fully understand what the feelings are talking about (Himiko’s death, the respective villains even if they aren’t equatable, etc), but it’s the implications of the way it’s written. It’s presenting it as Ochako’s feelings… for Izuku. It then asks the question, “..DOES Izuku feel the same way?” Because I mean, does he?

Now, I don’t think we’re getting any sort of confession. I could say in detail as to why, but that would be more like repeating the same 5 posts on my feed all week.

Because ultimately, it won’t happen. It’s another bait and switch, like it always is. And Horikoshi knows this.

So that’s why it’s so amazing that this line is here, it’s teasing, almost. Like “Look! The straight relationship is on the horizon! Just follow the cookie! It’s totally where you think it leads..”, and then signaling the warning bells in your head that not everything is as it seems.

Why make Ochako break down crying? Why not confirm Himiko’s death? Why make all of this romantic heartache? Why make straight shippers hold their breath, and then lead them into this supposed security?

Why ask a question on feelings, if it’s supposed to be a given?

Sometimes he gets a soft spot for you, after a “silly argument” and another abusive episode he will catch you crying where no one can see you, he will hug you and pat your head while saying he’s sorry.

After you’re finished crying he’ll give you a soft kiss on your lips, and says he won’t hit you again.

Of course he’ll do it again. Sometimes he’ll threaten you with a gun or a knife. It gets worse by time.

What made you ship it?

The uh. The show itself. TRULY there was not much legwork to do to shift these three to something romantic in my brain. Sasha, Anne, and Marcy have just. The most raw, real depiction of middle school codependent friendship that I have seen in any piece of media ever. And what's really awesome is the fact that canon doesn't shy away from the ugly parts - by episode two of s1, the audience knows that Something Is Deeply Wrong Here when we get to see Anne lay out her own definition of friendship, which has become heavily contorted and skewed by her relationship with both Sasha and Marcy. However, it's really the dedication of these three to not lose each other, to make each other better, to BE better for each other, that really solidified Sashannarcy in my mind.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

I'm gonna point to that last thing I said. These three really struggle to change themselves for the better, and while initially they do it to keep their relationship somewhat intact, it eventually shifts to them wanting to make changes for themselves, and I think that's beautiful. Sasha learns to reign in her control issues, Marcy learns to open herself up (after she, uh, gets opened up. Physically. By a sword. Unfortunately) and communicate, and Anne learns to have confidence in herself and not define herself by who she is to other people. They've seen each other at their worst and at their best and come out the other side, and even years after the main canon of the show, they still think of each other fondly and seek each other out, and that speaks volumes to me. Also, there's the whole color-coded-superpowered-prophecy bit. I think that's pretty cool.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't really have a huge bias for any one side of this polycule! If I'm reading fic or looking at art that focuses on just two of them, I'm always imagining that the third one is a ways away or running errands or something. They're frequently bought together do not separate!!!

Thank you very much for sending this prompt! I've been thinking on how I wanted to go about it before this idea came to mind! This is based on HZ008, a sort of what-if scene hehe.

While it's a shame that Murdock's latest batch of doughnuts hasn't borne fruit in enticing their resident tech-wiz to eat, Friede and Cap are all too happy to munch on the 'failures'. Reason 45 (he's continuously updating his mental list) on why Murdock's such an awesome cook; he just has a way with sweets that beats even some specialty shops. Mollie keeps a watchful eye on their budget so he doesn't get much opportunity to satisfy his sweet tooth when they head out to restock.

Thus when Murdock requests for his help in tweaking his doughnut recipe, Friede eagerly rises to the challenge.

So far they're into their second week of tests. Murdock goes at it pretty thoroughly, trying out different dough recipes, cooking methods and the glazes he puts on top. Every time the trio sneak into the kitchen to find an untouched plate, they'll munch on the leftovers so there's no evidence left behind about their nightly snacking. Friede then bounce around ideas with his friend until Murdock has an idea on what to change for tomorrow's batch.

Friede knows that Murdock worries deep down. Sure, Mollie's assured him that at the very least, Dot's getting her daily vitamin needs but as someone who's joy come from feeding others, it must be tearing him up on the inside. That's why he tries to lift his spirits by praising every single doughnut he and Cap munch on because they're genuinely that good. Friede hopes that Dot too will be tempted to try it out herself.

Until then, he'd be a liar if he claims not to enjoy the late night snacking. The sugar helps keep him awake when it's his turn to navigate the ship through the night, which just so happens to be today.

After giving his honest feedback, Friede bids Murdock goodnight before exiting the kitchen, Cap situated comfortably on his shoulder. He quietly walks down the small corridor (mindful of the spots that creak when stepped on) until he's back out on the deck.

Friede takes a moment to breathe in the cool air. It's a peaceful night with barely any clouds and the moon shining bright, perfect for navigation. Cap too mimics his action so Friede rubs his chin with a finger, grinning from the content sound his partner makes.

"Time to get to work, eh Cap?" he says, earning him a soft Pika! in return. Friede starts to make his way towards the captain's deck but pauses about halfway through. He stares for a moment, even briefly rubbing his eyes to make sure he's not seeing things. Nope. That's definitely Roy and Fuecoco fast asleep by the stairs leading up to his destination.

"Honestly, what on earth...?" Friede mutters, rubbing the back of his head before making his way over. Cap hops off his shoulder to reach the boy first.

Somehow, Roy's curled up with Fuecoco snugly in his arms, his back against the wooden wall. He looks like he's on slip away from tipping over and hitting his head against the edge of the stairs yet they're both snoring away, dead asleep.

Friede has many questions. After he gently steer Roy away from the kitchen, he thought that the he'll return back to bed. The captain's deck isn't near to his room so why he's here is a mystery, on top of how he appears to be deeply asleep in that uncomfortable position. Sometimes Friede sleeps in the captain's chair and it's awful for his back so he can't imagine how Roy manages it.

Nevertheless, Friede can't let him stay asleep here. If anything, being out in this cold air all night might get him sick (which sucks in his personal opinion cause then Mollie will insist on bedrest, something that he picture Roy and his boundless energy won't like).

Cap's trying to rouse the kid by gently poking his shoulder but aside from an initial twitch, it doesn't seem to cut it. Before his partner decides on a more electrifying awakening, Friede crouches down in front of Roy and gives his shoulder a gentle shake.

"Hey Roy, you're not supposed to sleep here," he says. Instead of waking up, Friede suddenly finds himself with Roy slump in his arms, still fast asleep. He stares down at the kid then sighs deeply. Really, is he this hard to wake up usually?

Friede thinks briefly before coming to a decision. Carefully, he slips an arm around Roy's shoulders and another slides underneath his knees. In one swift moment, Friede rises to his feet, taking a moment to adjust so the kid is secured in his arms. Roy's not too heavy even with Fuecoco still snoring away on his chest.

Quietly, Friede makes the short trip to Roy's room. Cap helps him open the door before he carefully enters, taking care not to bump the edges. Friede then gently sets Roy down on his bed while Cap pulls up the blanket to cover them up.

Roy simply nuzzles deeper into his pillow, tugging the blanket closer around himself and Fuecoco. If not for the way he smacks his lips prior to more snoring, Friede might have thought Roy's been awake all this time and is just pretending to be asleep so he can get a free carry back to his room.

Friede snorts at the thought, lightly shaking his head. Yeah right, Roy's not that kind of person. Kid doesn't have a mean bone in his body to pull off something like this. It does make him wonder if he's just accustom in sleeping at odd, uncomfortable places. Food for thought.

Cap scampers up his back to settle on his shoulder again. Well, he suppose that's that. Time to make his way towards the captain's deck again.

"Goodnight Roy," he utters, sporting a small, fond smile before closing the door behind him.

I will talk about another Storm Pirate!

Her name is Yara!

Yara is a former resident of a sky island and has little wings. She's outwardly demure, mostly because of her anxiety, and is reserved around new people. Though she only is herself when she feels entirely safe, her inner nature is fun-loving, stubborn, and opinionated. She has a bad stutter and suffers from chronic migraines from a traumatic brain injury she received as a teen.

Yara ate the Mythical Zoan Bunny-Bunny Fruit: Moon Rabbit model, but I'll get into that in a minute. Her weapon of choice is a giant wooden mallet.

So Yara wakes up one day in the middle of the woods with a head wound, having no recollection of who she is, where she is or how she got there, or even her own name. She wanders for a bit until she stumbles upon a white rabbit caught in a hunter's snare. She figures that the hunter who set the trap will return eventually, and waits there.

A bear sniffs out the rabbit and lumbers into the clearing, scaring them both. Yara knows she can run and the bear will eat the rabbit, but can't leave it, feeling that it's a terrible way to go. She frees the rabbit, who runs off, and the bear charges her.

A human-sized, bipedal hare wielding a giant hammer appears and smashes the bear, saving her. The white rabbit is with it, and begins to talk to her. The rabbit says he is a Moon Rabbit and the prince of the Lagomorphs and that by saving his life, she has committed a great deed.

Confused and without much choice, Yara lets the rabbit and his hare guard take her back to the Warren, an under-cloud location among the sky island that is the Moon Rabbits' home. There's a whole system of Moon Rabbits (royalty), rabbits, hares, and pikas. Her wounds are patched up, and she's taken in. With no memory of her own, the Lagomorphs adopt her, and she's revered as a hero and given a name--Yara, after one of the rabbits' ancient heroes, Yaratavi.

Yara is ritually accepted into the Moon Rabbit clan and given her Devil Fruit, which only grows on that sky island. Aside from the usual transformation and strength boosts, it gives her all the power that Moon Rabbits possess: the ability to create illusions, and the ability to warp short distances between any points that are bathed in moonlight. She also is stronger depending on the phase of the moon and how much moonlight is visible in the sky, and has accelerated recovery based on the same moonlight principles.

Yara is trained by the hare that initially saved her, a royal guard named He-Who-Races-The-Wind (Ray for short--all hare warriors have deed names like that) and becomes a warrior for the Lagomorphs.

The Storm Pirates meet her a few years later when they wind up on the Lagomorphs' sky island. Initially attacking them, she relaxes after learning that they come in peace, and take them to meet the Moon Rabbit royals, thus commencing the start of the Moon Rabbit arc of the Storm Pirates.

I haven't gotten the story figured out yet, but some important points are that: 1. big prey/predator themes, 2. The Moon Rabbits are capable of creating the fabled Elixir of Life, said to grant eternal life, and thus have been hunted by the humans of their neighboring sky island, and have strife with them. and 3. the Storm Pirates and Yara discover that the Moon Rabbits set her up. The royal Moon Rabbits sent a group on a raid into the neighboring sky island, in a mission to kill the human who was in charge of hunting the Moon Rabbits. This group included Ray. They went during the night, broke into the home, and started killing the humans inside. Ray was about to bring his hammer down on one of the humans in their bed when they woke up--the hunter's daughter. She looked at him with wide, fearful eyes, and in that second, Ray recognized that look as the look of a prey animal witnessing a predator. He hesitated too late, so instead of the hammer blow killing the girl, it instead injured her severely. Ray panicked and went against the group, saying they had to help her, and after arguing, he brings her back with them. The royalty decides they can make use of this, but will first test the human girl to see if she's worthy. They patch up her head and once she wakes up, uses illusion magic to make her think she sees a rabbit in a trap, and then a bear.

When Yara finds out the one who caused her TBI was Ray all along--who protected, mentored, and cared for her--it's a difficult moment.

In the conclusion of the Moon Rabbit Arc, Yara joins the Storm Pirates.

Her signature move is "Comet Hammer". She also has a move that she inherited from Ray, a barrage of hammer strikes called "March Madness".

In her awakened form, she grows antlers, and combined with her wings she resembles a wolpertinger.

Trainer Red Headcanons

Since X Twitter is turning into a real dumpster fire of a site, I've decided to move my 'lore' threads over here so I still have access to them once I leave Elon's hellsite. First up is my interpretation of Red!

This iteration of Red is in his twenties, therefore taking place before his and Blue's trip to Alola. Teddy (OC) is briefly mentioned in this list.

Red is on the autism spectrum. Pokemon and battles are his main special interests, and playing with the brim of his hat is a stim.

He's bisexual.

He's selectively mute. As shown in Pokemas (and Smash Bros. too I guess), Red can talk -- he just typically doesn't unless he's with trusted friends & loved ones.

He's so incredibly in-sync with his main team that he no longer needs to issue commands in battle. When he was younger, he used hand signals to give commands; he still does this for mons that aren't on his main team.

Red wants to seem cool and mysterious to other people, and yes, this includes standing on an ice mountain to wait for challengers for a considerable amount of time. He probably read JJBA as a kid and thought Jotaro was the coolest dude ever.

He briefly had a crush on Green/Leaf (in my head they're the same person) back when they, including Blue, were on their Kanto journey together. He never told her and eventually lost that crush, but Green is still a very important friend to him.

Even roughly a decade later, Red still hasn't quite gotten over his loss to Ethan on Mt. Silver; it was his first real taste of defeat, after all. He does use it as motivation to train harder with his team, but although he respects Ethan, he's a bit nervous around him.

Red really, really likes bug pokemon. He doesn't battle with them often, but he likes to collect and raise them. One of his favorite bugs is Heracross, a reserve mon who he actually *does* battle with; he also particularly likes the Ledyba and Nincada lines as well!

Some time after the Sevii Islands adventure, Red caught a Mew after befriending it and earning its trust. He keeps Mew a secret from most people; only the closest of his associates (Pallet Town trainers, Prof. Oak, etc.) know about it.

If you claim to be a member of Team Rocket, even if you're kidding, Red will immediately challenge you to a battle you can't refuse. He does not take threats from TR lightly and will attempt to squash out any and all of their operations.

As gifted to him by Teddy, he has a Roaming form Gimmighoul that usually hangs out in his pocket or under his hat. It has a chest full of Gimmighoul coins in his room back in Pallet Town and will happily chill out there with his mom when it's not traveling with Red.

Red enjoys fishing because it lets him space out (until there's a bite on the line at least) and listen to the water's waves. "No thoughts, head empty" is a state of zen for him. He's not nearly as enthusiastic about fish pokemon as he is about bugs, though.

Strangled Red is canon to my interpretation of Red (and Blue). Red doesn't like to think about his former role model anymore and chooses to repress his grief into the back of his mind.

Red doesn't listen to much music outside of soundtracks from video games and shows of his youth, but he tends to enjoy most genres outside of very noisy, chaotic ones like metal and breakcore (they usually lead to sensory overloads for him).

Red's starter is Charizard, but he's closest to his Pikachu (nicknamed Pika; the only one on his main team to have a nickname) that he caught in Viridian Forest. Pika is outside of its ball more often than not and sometimes even serves as an emotional support mon for him.

Red is afraid of drowning and cannot swim. He is very envious of the Swimmer trainer class for this reason.

He hates shorts and how they feel on him. In his opinion, they are NOT comfy and easy to wear.

Hey Pika, how would you interpret Kudo's opinion of Katsuki? Thinking of both chapter 412 and 413.

Funny you chose those chapters, because I'd say despite his mentioning of Katsuki, those chapters are really demonstrating what Kudou thinks of Izuku.

In those chapters, Kudou refers to Katsuki as someone who, on the surface, it seems Izuku should have hated but didn't. Then he uses Katsuki as a visualization example, and he has a good laugh about it at the same time. He certainly doesn't have a bad opinion of Katsuki.

I'd say the best hint at what Kudou thinks of Katsuki comes from chapter 318.

I think Kudou just thinks Katsuki is a capable person who is reliable for aiding Izuku in his goals. Comradery seems to rank really high on Kudou's list of traits that matter in this war--which is not surprising since he led a rebel faction.

To me, it's really telling that Kudou's plan to defeat Tomura is, in essence, the exact same plan Katsuki had to defeat AFO with the gross sweat-in-the-enemy's-mouth maneuver lol.

If they were to interact, my guess is that in a combat situation they'd get along really well lol.

Honestly, Palworld looks like a mid-to-bad crafting survival game with a passable creature capture idea slapped on top.

It has like. Negative appeal to me, but I'm not the target audience in like 14 different ways.

But.

I hope it updates well and improves and goes from (from fan's perspectives) "Good" to "Great" because of three reasons.

1: I like when games good.

2: I like when genre mashes succeed in melding the two and allowing both to thrive, it's neat to me. Palworld ain't the first to do it or anything, we literally have pokemon minecraft mods, but it is "Recognized" right now and I think that'd be nice.

3: Literally ANYTHING that lights a fire under mega-billion-dollar Pokemon's ass is good in my book.

Not even from a "disappointed pokemon fan" POV, just as a pokemon fan in any respect, I want Pokemon to go "OH YEAH, Well then FUCK YOU, We'll invest in the games for once instead of skirting by on the recognition of our IP and our next games will be FUCKING GREAT!!!"

Because even if I don't really care enough to play whatever those games are, I want Pokemon to be at its best too, so like, that'd be cool :)

But yeah Palworld looks shit to my tastes, but not shit in general. I see some people violently swinging back at it on principle and like, yeah sure you can do that. Also see people yelling that it's a cheap ripoff and like, yep. But it's not nearly as lazy as you'd expect such a thing to be. Looks pretty genuine in more ways than I'd have expected so IDK, I mean they even went with being a different genre and the like- this ain't a phone app pretending to be a popular IP, it's kinda its own thing in 'some' ways.

But it appears to be trying to be worth a damn despite that so like, eh, that's fine. Like the difference to me between some "copy" like this and then sony's "Foamstars" is that Foamstars is ripping off a highly original and creative IP in a desperate attempt to rake in Splatoon's money, and Splatoon is still a new and thriving IP that has thoroughly earned that slice of the pie. Foam is trying to basically 1 to 1 recreate splatoon but funnel the money their way, that's lame.

In defense of CyberAxolotl, PikaPikaFlower, and VinnieCervine

I’ll begin by saying I am not someone directly associated with the situation of these three, but a friend that CyberAxolotl vents to frequently, and I have known her since early 2020. This post was created with her input. I’ve never formally met VinnieCervine or PikaPikaFlower, but it’s told me about them, and told me about what’s been happening in their lives recently. And I feel the need to address some accusations made against them.

No names about other people associated with this situation will be said. This is an in-defense-of post, I am not attacking anybody.

There is a call-out post out there targeted onto CyberAxolotl and VinnieCervine based on their actions in 2020-2021, anywhere from 2-3 years ago at this time. I feel like it should be unnecessary to address their pasts when, at the times of 2-3 years ago, CyberAxolotl would be 12-13 and VinnieCervine would be 14-15. However, I will unpack them either way.

The label of “exclusionist” in the context of LGBT discourse on Cyberaxolotl is outdated information. CyberAxolotl is not exclusionist anymore, it was an old opinion that she no longer has. Told by CyberAxolotl, she regrets having had it.

CyberAxolotl has also been accused of making a r^pe fanfiction. It’s unfortunate to say that this claim is true, but a talk with her yields that she never meant to write it like that, and she regrets writing it at all. As said by her, 

Cyberaxolotl, as it said itself, didn't realize how messed up her fic was back then. Its also important to note that in her friend group, no one told her that it was messed up, meaning no one warned it about it.

I can understand why that action can make her unforgivable to a lot of people. She knows better now and has known better for a very long time now, and it wishes to forget that it had ever happened. But, as she said, she can’t unwrite it. All she can do is apologize and never do it again, and she KNOWS not to do it again, she’s not 12 anymore.

I believe those are two of the most major things in the past that required addressing. In their pasts, Pika was not associated with them. And, as people do, they’ve grown over two-three years

Now, new stuff has happened.

Today, CyberAxolotl is 15, VinnieCervine is 17, and PikaPikaFlower is 18. 

CyberAxolotl and PikaPikaFlower are in a romantic relationship, and CyberAxolotl and VinnieCervine are in a queerplatonic partnership.

15 and 18 is on thin ice for an age gap, and the two of them very much know that. However, a three year age gap is legal in both of their states, so long as they are not sexualizing or having sex with each other. Specifically, so long as CyberAxolotl is not being sexualized, or sharing depictions of herself naked or in sexual situations.

The two have been in a relationship since CyberAxolotl was 14 and PikaPikaFlower was 17, and are still together now. CyberAxolotl’s birthday comes before PikaPikaFlower’s, in July, while her girlfriend’s comes in September. They are always within the three year age gap.

Now, here’s something that you might not like; most teenagers are going to talk about sex, or porn, or stuff related to the topic with each other. When you’re comfortable and close with someone, even at their age, that tends to happen. What it doesn’t mean is that they are sexualizing themselves, oftentimes, especially in fandom culture, they’ll be sexualizing adult fictional characters, or their own fictional characters who are adults.

Establishing healthy boundaries is especially important when your relationship has an age gap like theirs. But, CyberAxolotl tells me this;

Teenagers are going to talk about sex with other teenagers or people they’re comfortable with. It’s a lesson everyone is taught coming online to never share sexual pictures of yourself, and CyberAxolotl knows that fully. Their relationship is fully legal so long as CyberAxolotl is not sexualized, and it has said that it’s uncomfortable being sexualized, so I can’t see that as happening. 

Whether you approve of their relationship or not is not your business. CyberAxolotl says she talked with her mother about PikaPikaFlower and their relationship, and her mother reiterates the same lesson of “as long as you aren’t sexualizing yourself, teenagers are going to talk about sex and porn. it’s just what they do.” (Quoted from her)

Any allegations made about PikaPikaFlower being a predator are far-fetched and wrong. Regardless of your opinion on their age gap, it’s legal, and it’s nobody’s business but their own. They’re happy, and if you don’t trust what they tell you about their relationship, then you’ll never be satisfied. And regardless, it is not your right.

And now, something that has been accused of them in the past and now.

Stepping over boundaries and making people uncomfortable, something relevant to all three of them.

CyberAxolotl has a big statement about this to make for herself.

I think some people can relate to the sentiment. If you don’t realize something is wrong, and nobody tells you, you won’t know it’s wrong. That’s what this comes down to, and while I know it can be hard to be patient, improving as a person is hard and needs some understanding. And having NSFW as a big part of your sense of humor can also be a problem, because you can’t really change your entire sense of humor.

And reeling it back, remember that CyberAxolotl and VinnieCervine are children, and all three of them are neurodivergent. It’s not an excuse, but they’re classified as disabilities for a reason. It means that a little extra effort and understanding needs to go in, and if you don’t have the patience for it, that’s okay. They’re all still young, even if PikaPikaFlower is an adult, and they all have time to learn. As long as they want to learn, and are willing to learn for the better part of a change, they can try their best with some help. CyberAxolotl has told me that she’s now more comfortable talking with its mother about her problems and is getting help from its family.

But also remember that changing and growing is not a linear process. They can all grow in some ways and change in others, but sometimes, they’ll end up taking a step back. This is why patience is important, nobody’s recovery or growth will EVER be linear, it’s just human nature. If you don’t want to try to help them, that’s okay, and I’m not saying they haven’t been wrong, but I don’t think anyone should be shunned, reported, or made to feel unwelcome in their community.

I do not want to call anyone a villain in this situation. Things were done wrong, a lot of things. It can’t be undone. I just don’t want these three attacked by anybody.

Thank you for reading to the end. Your thoughts on these three are your thoughts, but I don’t want their lives ruined over these accusations because they CAN be life ruining. Evidenced by problems from years ago being dug up now and brought up again.

I will say this once more; Please do not harass CyberAxolotl, PikaPikaFlower, or VinnieCervine. they are people too, they have made mistakes, but they are growing from their pasts and i want them to be happy and safe.

Have you seen the Disney/Short Story candles? They have a Nightmare before Christmas one, and I feel like if there was a Morpheus was a candle, it would look like that. Definitely scents of petrichor and ozone for sure!

How’s your writing going? If you need some procrastination you should check out (if you haven’t already heard of it) Pika La Cynique’s Girls Next Door webcomic on Deviant Art. I’ve been reading it since 2007 when it first started and even though updates are sporadic now, I kinda feel like it’s something you might enjoy! (from memory Morpheus doesn’t appear, but I think there’s a cameo or two from Death).

I have made the cardinal error of giving Grace expertise and a degree in a time period that is several hundred years removed from my own, but with that said, I also really love medieval literature and I would love to talk about what I think some of her potential publications are!

Grace strikes me as someone who primarily publishes articles and has possibly contributed a chapter or two to a critical collection, but who has not, at this point in her life and career, written a book of her own (unless we’re counting her dissertation). It’s on the to do list, and I imagine she has some ideas, but she expends a lot of her focus on teaching and everything that goes with it, and the writing sometimes goes by the wayside.

As to what she writes: her dissertation was focused on the creation of medieval romantic love in literature as a genre or concept and how we came to have the idea of it that we do now, especially in the age of more modern, vaguely medieval fantasy romances on the page and on screen. After that, I think she pivoted just a smidge and wrote a few articles about courtly love and the bending or perversion of it in literature and what function that serves, including the way The Green Knight queers that system. Just a little before meeting Morpheus for the first time, she was really starting to get into monster theory and its possible applications to monsters and creatures of medieval lit, as a sort of fun little side project and a break from the romance side of things.

Grace’s mum is an altogether lovely woman who would come around to the idea of the supernatural, with time. This is the woman who told Grace most of the fairy stories she knows, after all, and Grace gets a lot of her personality from her. A big part of Grace hesitating to tell her mother is how much of a burden it would place on her, not just to not reveal the knowledge that she has now, because who does she have to confide in besides Grace?, but because it would be so difficult to know how much longer her daughter was going to outlive her.

I hadn’t seen that candle before but it looks so cool! For sure how the exterior would look, I love the crystals on top!

I also hadn’t heard of that webcomic, but I’ve looked it up and this is extremely relevant to my interests! I am definitely going to be making my way through this. Who among us didn’t have a Labyrinth phase? And I’ve been a Phantom fan for ages.
