So I go to open tumblr again and one of the first things I see on my dashboard is that you're posting about some new sad old man in power armor, and I'm instantly interested. So I scroll down through your blog to find out what his deal is, and I see these tags:

And I lose my mind a little bit because yEAH. ME TOO. AND IT'S NOT EVEN MY OWN BROTHER TELLING ME ABOUT THE GAME.

Anyway, important question, how's the singleplayer campaign in the game? Is it good, or is the game sort of more aimed at multiplayer? Because I have a sort of slow and unreliable internet connection, and I need to know if I *can* get invested in the sad old man on my own, or if I need a better internet connection to do it

The game is heavily multiplayer based, it's like Destiny 2 in that department. You could play the campaign in single technically...but it's very difficult, because the missions are made keeping in mind you are playing in a group of at least 2/3 people. Also, keep in mind it's not a first person shooter, it's a looter shooter in third person, kinda like Warframe. You can play in a private lobby with friends tho!

♒ (cooking/food headcanon): Ranger doesn't get the chance to show it off much, but dude has seriously quality taste. I think he could probably live off frozen burger-like product for ages if he had to, he's just tough like that, but on his downtime? He likes cooking. He likes big, pointlessly complex meals that bring people together, and being the Big Guy in the Funny Apron who has excellent knife control when mincing. He likes trying to remember what food tasted like and why people liked it, but how long has he been here, does he even eat any more... And just a bit, memories of grilling franks at park with colleagues or making bagna càuda on a rainy day, when nobody was counting on him and nobody needed his very specific skillset. This is the headcanon I have absolutely ZERO support for, but it's also one of my earliest ones, so I'm sticking to it, bahaha. ▼ (childhood headcanon): He didn't have an easy run of it. I've always felt Doomguy (classic) had a pretty well-adjusted, loving family? Ranger... I think he grew into a defender-of-humanity type because his early life was very difficult. Bad home situation, bad situation at school, working early to try to get out of it, just digging himself out of it... I feel like he was the kind of guy to stand up for someone being bullied somewhere around his middle grades, and - wasn't always the block-shaped muscle hero we all know? Got really bloodied up, maybe even - looked down on by the person/people he was trying to protect. Instead of dwelling on it or using it as an excuse to hate people though, he just resolved to get stronger (literally) and that's why he's the guy we know today. ☆ (happy headcanon): Before things went to a place worse then Hell; the Counterstrike Boys throwing him a very impromptu birthday party, a few were 'absolutely in barbershop quartet' (they weren't), their faces he can't remember that still matter, someone putting on an absolute garbage smooth jazz vinyl that he hums to himself because it's proof he came from a place that was real, that valued him as a human being... ... And as an earlier memory that Quake wasn't able to subvert or twist away from him, freeing a wildcat from a trap while out jogging. He just feels like the kind of guy that sort of thing happens to, right...? And he ends up just watching it run off, faint look on his face, exhales into the air, and gets back to jogging.

•Pikmin onions have an odd life cycle. They are formed from seeds deep underground, and if they get enough nutrients, they will become an Onion. If not, they will become a Candypop Bud and either stay underground or burrow up to the surface. If they form into an Onion they will stay underground or burrow up depending on their type. Red, Yellow, Blue, Rock, Winged, and Ice burrow up while White and Purple stay underground. Onions then propagate Pikmin with the help of a leader (supposed to be a Mamuta) and grow and spread seeds. Onions will naturally seek out other Onions over time and fuse with them. Once an Onion has fused with at least two others, it searches for the highest point it can find and lands there, anchoring its roots to the ground and preventing Pikmin from being produced. It uses all the nutrients and energy of the Pikmin within it to create seeds that it showers onto the landscape. For every four seeds that bury themselves and become Onions or Candypop buds, one is a Lumiknoll Seed. Lumiknolls produce Glow Sap out of impurities in the soil around them, making it safe for Pellet Posies to bloom. Lumiknolls lure in enemies with the same electromagnetic signals that Onions use to communicate with Pikmin. The natural energy of a Lumiknoll disintegrates corpses, Turing them into Glow Pellets. Once a Lumiknoll has survived its first night, it creates crystals around it that allow Onions to land and leaves behind a core that activates every subsequent night.

•Pikmin have a hivemind-esque intelligence where they act independently but communicate and share their experiences with their Onion, allowing the species to become smarter over time.

•Pikmin have a very simplistic language known as Pikkish with a few main phrases;

-Howa- Carry

-Whaoh- Fight (Includes digging)

-Wie- Multiply (also used to refer to the Onion)

-Toka- Eaten (used synonymously with “death” as a whole)

-Danor- Time (associated with sunset, sunrise, and optimization)

-Orima- Leader (phrase only used after Olimar’s original crash)

•Glow Pikmin do not act like regular Pikmin or speak their language. Instead, they use a separate language known only as “Nightspeak”;

-Ehu- Grow (meaning carrying pellets back to Lumiknolls or Tricknolls)

-Heuho- Hunt (specifically going out towards enemies)

-Huohe- Protect (specifically protecting a Lumiknoll or Tricknoll. Nobody knows why there is a distinction between Heuho and Huohe.)

-Yiiiii- Glowmob (a command towards the other glow pikmin to form a glowmob)

-Rehoho- Strategy (Tricknoll, or the coming of sunrise.)

•Glow Pikmin do not have a word for “Lumiknoll”

•Pikmin were developed a decade before humanity was wiped out in order to fight the effects of climate change by growing plants across the world. They followed humans around as they walked, planting seeds as they did so. In the final days of humanity, the Onions were developed alongside the Mamutas and placed in the Svalbard Seed Vault. 90% of humans left Earth while the remaining ones were wiped out.

She is a Spartan III, which means not only she is an awkward child soldier, she is an UNHINGED awkward child soldier. She definitely cooked food with plasma grenades at least twice in her entire life

I barely know a thing about halo lore and I definitely don't know anything about Infinite, much less what it means to be rakshasa-ified, but I am Looking at rakshasa Alba, so so consider this a catch-all ask for if you wanna go on a ramble about that in general, or about her specifically, or about both! Whatever u want to yell about :)

For context, Spartans normally wear armors named Mjolnir (the more plated ones with the tight -usually- black undersuits), they go from various models, but the mainline ones are the Mark IV, Mark V, Mark VI and Mark VII, some of which have variants of generations (some were made to cut costs of manufacture, some to improve in comparison to the base gen). Some important features of the Mjolnir armors are a neural network connected to their wearer and shield generators that recharge automatically after they get hit. They are extremely heavy and they have "mechanisms", reason why a not augmented person cannot wear one without dying. They require a technician and a special device (a "rig) to disassemble it, in order to take it off. Eventual reparations must also be made by technicians/engineers.

Rakshasa is a variation of Mjolnir armor that is lightweight, easy to maintain and fix unlike their mainline models and you can wear one for an extended period of time during long operations. Reparations can be made with about anything that can work as reparation material, even armor parts from dead marines, even with outdated tech from centuries before.

Alba usually wears a Mark V [B] armor (which is a cheaper variant of the Mark V that usually Spartans III wear), she had to switch it to a rakshasa model when she ended up on Zeta Halo (the "ring" you land on in Infinite), as the UNSC Infinity, the biggest and most important space warship humanity ever built, where most of the UNSC personnel was, went missing. How did she manage to take her Mark V [B] off is between her, some marines, some Spartans IV and some not so trusty tools

Zeta sucks because it's full of Banished idiots (new evil aliens faction) and she is not having a good time at all. The reason why she wasn't deployed in the field anymore was because as a Spartan III she was essentially made as a suicidal troop and she is not doing exactly very well mentally. She is trying at least, but she wants to go back to the academy to help training new recruits very much.

I can only take pictures of Rookie because he is at my house, I adopted them from one of my dad's friends, he breeds budgies as hobby, he has a couple of couples (lol) and he just gives out their chicks to their friends/colleges if they want them, or he just keeps them, so until I tame Rookie, Gunny is gonna stay at his house. Budgies distract each other very easily and I can't tame 2 at once.

Rookie is a dumbass, but he is a sweet little guy. He is almost one year old and he is a bit insane, I don't think he has more than one braincell. He also yells at you if you leave him alone and I mean, understandable! He is very social despite the anxiety from the new house. He doesn't fully trust me yet, but he trusts me enough at the point of eating/drinking, playing and preening himself in front of me, so that's nice. He also likes to chitchat, despite my poor budgie impression lol. He also responds to "sir" more than he does to his name and that's. OKAY.

Gunny is white and blue like his brother, but he doesn't have any black markings, he is older than all of his siblings and he is one big fluffy boy. He is very chill though. Hope the taming won't be too difficult with him, since he is a bit old.

I know it wouldn't be canon to your lore but what would ranger think of your Slayer Flynn?

Won't recognize him. Maybe would find him interesting (he knows a single not hostile monster besides him and it's the familiar fiend he can summon with the horn), but that's it.

If somebody told him that the weird fucked up monster is Flynn? He would be VERY sad about it. He sacrificed his own humanity to protect mankind and he is now nothing but the decaying shadow of his former self.

If I saw the little child I took care of (because his father absolutely hated him) trying to follow my footsteps so humanity could see another day and ending up turning himself in to a constantly collapsing and regenerating monstrous biological immortal torture chamber for his own soul? I'd be pretty devasted

12- Wrenches come handy, that or he just asks Chloe. Not Stan nor Arlene though, they are very likely to scratch him, slap his neck or one of the sides of his head and run away

18- He is the kind of man that could leave the showers and walk back to his room completely naked (expect for his feet because "there is no way his feet are touching the floor that's for degenerates"), he is too powerful for standard embarrassment, he has to do something ridiculously stupid to get embarassed

Desire and failure for Alba?

Desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?

She doesn’t really have a particular desire, other than ending the war and stop any insurrection. That’s her only purpose in life, or at least the only one she was trained for. She doesn’t know what will happen to her after every conflict will be over, but this is everything she knows.

Failure: What's your OC's greatest failure? Have they been able to move past it? Does anyone else know about it?

Her parents’ death, the Covenant attacking her planet, Reach falling, the Covenant finding the coordinates to Earth, losing lots of her brothers and sisters… lots of failures. Being “over them” is not the right terminology in her case. She tries to not think about them. She doesn’t talk about them.

So your UAC marines have a ton of cybernetics in them, right? so,

silly question: are they magnetic? like if i slapped a fridge magnet on one of their faces, would it stick? Would Flynn let someone slap a fridge magnet on his face, for the funnies?

and serious question: would they be affected by an EMP? given that they're so reliant on their implants, if they got shut down, would the marine be able to survive? and if not, how quickly would they die? instantly? or would it be slow and painful as their organic body gave out?

The exoskeletons of their armors relay mostly on magnetism (just to expand or shrink organic matter every single time they change planet, you could throw a space marine at the bottom of the ocean with oxygen tanks and they would be just fine, even if most of them swim like the average standard human), the magnets are deactivated when they are not wearing an armor, but you can definitely find somebody with a malfunction or two, Flynn is in too good conditions for becoming a literal fridge sadly 😞

UAC tech is not affected by EMP, it's one of the first things they started working on after WWII and one of the reasons why they do so well financially speaking when it comes to manufacturing weaponry. They do cut costs on a lot of stuff (like by recycling endoskeleton parts from corpses 🤠), but surprisingly not on that. If something made by humans could kill their fully armored anti-alien troops there would be a problem. But fear not, because if you manage to grab one of them and you also somehow manage to break their spine they literally detonate probably killing you as well! It's not something they are designed for, but it just happens
