34 Perfect Days of Kent Parson - Day 17: Usual

Kent was always glad whenever his bye week came around. He always took it as an opportunity to do absolutely nothing but lounge around. Probably at a beach. With his friends and teammates joining him.

The last three bye weeks he'd always ended up in the same place. It was easy to plan. What wasn't easy was getting there. Especially with the All-Star games taking place out East, and even in Canada two out of the three times.

But, he enjoyed flying out to the islands in the middle of the sea, staying in the same hotel he'd stayed in for the third year in a row, and just relaxing.

Sometimes he got too into relaxing. So much so that he'd often get caught staring out into the water from his hotel balcony, ignoring any and everything going on around him. He'd just take in the sounds of the waves crashing and the people playing in the sand and water.

It was nice.

Even if sometimes he'd unintentionally ignore Jack.

"Kenny," Jack said, his hand buried in Kent's hair.

'What? Yeah. Sorry," he'd say again and again. He had no way of knowing how many times Jack had said his name at that point, but he know it had to be more than a handful of times.

"I was asking if you wanted to go out to eat tonight?"

It sounded like a good idea since he'd spent most of the day in the hotel room. But it was nice and cool. And not humid. And Kent was wearing his most comfortable pajama pants. "Whatever you want," he said.

Jack let out a laugh. He kissed him on his forehead. "We can order in instead. Your usual?" Then he'd list off the handful of items that he'd have chosen himself from room service.

Kent blushed and nodded. "Yeah," he said. Because Jack had been in his life long enough that he'd know his usual order for room service. "We'll go out for dinner tomorrow. Promise."

Jack let out a laugh as if he didn't believe him. But he still went inside to call in their order.

As with our previous iterations, this will be a multi-month affair, with sign-ups happening in October 2024, check-ups happening throughout the process, and the zine being published in free PDF format in June 2025.

This volume's theme is.... #TripleTrouble!

'Swawesome things come in threes! For this volume, we want you all to explore the shenanigans, celebrate the triumphs, and dive into the inner workings and dynamics of all your favorite Check, Please! trios!

There's endless trios to choose from, some more familiar than others. I mean, who can forget the most iconic canon trios? We're talkin' Ransom, Holster, Lardo! We're thinkin' Whiskey, Tango, Foxtrot! We're screeeamin' Chowder, Dex, Nursey!

If you're willing to go outside the box, think about trios you'd love to see together who the fandom hasn't seen! Who among us is brave enough to put the Jack's Type Trio of Bitty, Camilla, and Kent in a room together? Hell, we could even take a dive into Deep Fandom Lore that OG fans may remember with the No Chill Trio of Lardo, Nursey, Kent.

Be it everyone's faves with polyfrogs, tadpoles content, or unlikely trios we'd all kick and squeal about, it's all welcome for this volume!

34 Perfect Days of Kent Parson - Day 19: Watch

Kent really, really did not want to have to do this Four Nations tournament. He did not like that it took place in the middle of the season. He didn't like that it took during his bye week. He didn't like that he'd have to be in Montreal and Boston during his break instead of in a tropical area.

He didn't want to be Captain for Team USA.

But, of course he was going to be Captain. He'd been wearing the C for over a decade now.

Apparently it was going to be his until he decided to hang up his skates.

And, because he was Captain, he was still going to put in the effort for this meaningless tournament, because it was supposed to grow the sport and get people excited for the Olympics next year.

The first game, the team won by a three goals. He had scored one and the other two he'd assisted on. Of course this meant he was named the player of the game. And he got a nice Rolex out of it, which he honestly didn't have much use for. It was just another addition to his collection of watches from all the other tournaments he'd been a part of throughout his career.

What made the tournament slightly bearable was that Jack had decided to join him in Montreal instead of going to Fiji without him. Even though Jack wasn't on Team Canada, he used the tournament as an opportunity to see his parents and get a chance to watch the teams play. It was supposed to be some high level hockey.

But Kent made it look way too easy sometimes.

He'd told Kent that when they were in bed together the night before.

It earned Jack a nice kiss.

And, maybe a little more.

Because when Jack and Kent were seen together watching Team Canada play against Team Finland, Jack was wearing a watch that he did not have when he arrived in Montreal.

The #TripleTrouble theme is all about exploring dynamics, shenanigans, and any moments you can think of that feature your favorite Check, Please! trios. These can be canon trios (think WTF, The Frogs, etc), your fave non-canon trios (think PBJ, Scrappy/Kent/Jeff, etc), and any other iconic trios of OMGCP characters that you think deserve a spotlight!

As with our previous volumes, #TripleTrouble will be available as a free digital PDF upon publication

Fics must be no longer than 3.5k words, and art of all mediums are welcome! (even non-digital works so long as they can be translated to the digital PDF zine, such as through scanning or a high-res photo)

We’re on Discord! It’s not mandatory to join, but it is a wonderful tool for connecting with other contributors and opens another form of contact with the admins!

Still thinking about a pimms wedding. Kent has a wedding snapback that people think is silly but honestly he pulls off the look. He's not allowed to wear it for the vows tho. There's at least one official picture where Jack dips him and he has to make sure the hat doesn't fall off like a woman in a romance movie trying to make sure her hat doesn't fly away in the ocean breeze.
