At the Ami women's and men's fashion show on Thursday at the foot of the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, models wore micro shorts, thigh-high boots, marinières, and oversized coats as the French label looked to classic Parisian style with a daring twist for inspiration.
"Amelie" star Audrey Tautou opened the spring/summer collection wearing the quintessential Parisian look: a classic cream trench coat, a plain white shirt, and white jeans.
Designer Alexandre Mattiussi added bubble-gum pink coats to plain pair of beige pants and blazers to slightly unbuttoned shirts.
One model shimmered in black sequin pants and a matching bikini top for a more festive style, while another strutted in a see-through A-line dress.
Mini skirts were slung low, pleated, or decorated with a blue Vichy pattern.
Ami maintained its casual approach to fashion by mixing sneakers, joggers, and leather jackets.
The final outfit, which 1990s supermodel Kristen McMenamy wore in a completely red ensemble, was one of the highlights of Ami's show.
Models Naomi Campbell and Carla Bruni, actress Catherine Deneuve, director Xavier Dolan, and actor Angus Cloud—best known for his breakout performance in the TV series "Euphoria"—were just a few of the prominent people who attended the performance.
After Milan, the final leg of the cycle that will determine the trends for the upcoming season is the Paris fashion season.

Jacques Charrier & Brigitte Bardot
Tumblr media
French bombshell actress Brigitte Bardot had a very private wedding to her Babette Goes to War co-star, Jacques Charrier, at the registry office in Louveciennes, France on June 18, 1959. Instead of a traditional wedding dress, she opted for a soft pink gingham (Vichy in French) shirtwaist dress, trimmed with white lace and made by her favourite designer, Jacques Esterel.

On trend: the perfect gingham dress for work
Gingham. Alongside stripes and polka dots, the gingham pattern is also considered as timeless by many in the fashion industry. And although its story began on tablecloths – yes, gingham was a popular standard for towels in the eighteenth century – the truth is that it was only in the 1940s that it became officially popular. Fashion and Vichy pattern Due to the Great Depression and the Second World War, the opulent garments gave way to fabrics such as cotton, simple and durable. And, one of the patterns that began to be more worn by women was gingham, with its characteristic squares. Consequently, in the United States of America, it became so popular, under the name of gingham, that it even became a patriotic symbol. In Europe, people used to call it vichy. Also, the “The Wizard of Oz” movie, was responsible for the popularity of the print. Having premiered on August 25, 1939, one of the characters, Dorothy, wore a gingham dress, of course. From then on, there were many films where the gingham pattern played a prominent role. Among them “The Philadelphia Story” where famous actress Katharine Hepburn wore both a skirt and a gingham gown. The pattern became a trend and all women wanted to wear a gingham piece. But it was only in 1959 when actress Brigitte Bardot married actor Jacques Carrier in a pink and white gingham dress signed by designer Jacques Estérel (the actress was pregnant and therefore did not want to wear a traditional dress), that the trend really exploded. In the central Corrèze department, Brive-La-Gaillarde is a lovable medieval town flourishing as a regional commercial center.
The city's old townhouses are built from a pink sandstone being captured under blue roofs. There is a lot to catch your attention in Brive, but there is also plenty of magic to experience outside on the western foothills of Massif Central. You’ll have lakes, forest, and challenging hills close at hand, and dozens of idyllic medieval villages to choose from. Several of these are in the official list of the most beautiful in France, and despite their charm are never overrun by tourists. Let's explore the best things to do in Brive-la-Gaillarde.
[toc]
1. Hôtel de Labenche
Brive’s art and history museum are in this glorious Renaissance mansion. But before you go in to give yourself some time to appreciate this building, which is agreed to be one of the best Renaissance properties in the area.
It was commissioned around 1540 by Jean de Calvimont, Minister of Justice and Secretary of the Lower Limousin, for King Francis I, and later a royal stop to visit Brive, including Louis XIII.
It was built from that beautiful pink sandstone and has lots of details to look at, like a real window, mulled window, a bunch of sculptures and an eccentric chimney. It looks like a Greek temple.
2. Musée d’Art et d’Histoire
A serious cache of 5,000 objects helps recount Brive’s 100,000 years of history. It’s an attraction that deals with a host of different disciplines like natural history, archaeology, ethnography, and numismatics.
But there are also quite a few curiosities that aren’t from Brive but are compelling all the same. Take the piano belonging to the century composer Claude Debussy, or the collection of sensational tapestries.
Several are from the Aubusson Manufactory, but there are also ten made by the English Royal Manufactory at Mortlake. This is the largest set of 17th-century English tapestry on show in France.
3. Denoix Distillery
You can get a real shot of local savoir-faire at this 19th-century family distillery. The Denoix brand creates a range of liqueurs from oranges, grapes, walnuts, strawberries, chocolate, and various herbs, and is open from Tuesday to Saturday to bring you backstage.
One of the many cool things about this place is that the gleaming copper stills are the same since the 1800s, which makes for lots of evocative photo opportunities. Also interesting is that the operation is seasonal, so there will be a different fruit or plant macerating depending on the time of year.
And a visit wouldn’t be complete without sampling a liqueur or aperitif.
4. Old Brive
While the center of Brive isn’t bursting with blockbuster sights it’s the sort of town you can investigate on a shopping trip.
This tangle of streets has quite a few stone houses from the 15th and 16th centuries, and you may find yourself getting sidetracked into an arcaded courtyard or staring up at an old turret or wrought-iron balcony.
The town hall hides a wonderful small flower garden, and there, a small journey of historic castles is available at the tourist office. The cream of these is the 18th-century Hôtel Desbruslys and Hôtel Quinhart with a corbelled turret.
5. CA Brive
Although Brive is a provincial town, it has a reputation for going beyond French borders. And one of the reasons for this is the rugby club, which is a mainstay of the Top 14, the highest division in French rugby.
The Stade Amédée-Domenech has a capacity of almost 14,000 and despite its modest size is actually the largest sporting arena in the entire Limousin region! Come for a weekend match from August to May, while you can buy a CA Brive souvenir at the football shop in the center of town at any time.
6. Musée Edmond-Michelet
Limousin is one of the best places to dip into the history of the French Resistance because of the amazing degree of disruption caused by guerrillas in the region. And the leader of the region’s Resistance movement was Edmond Michelet, who survived the war and went on to have a long political career.
So while many towns across France have the Resistance Museum, you can be sure that this is not acceptable.
Michelet’s family donated a variety of his personal items, including the mimeograph he used to print leaflets denouncing France’s capitulation in 1940. There are also some 400 original propaganda posters printed by the German occupying forces and the Vichy Government.
7. Château d’Eau
Brive’s 19th-century water tower may well be the most distinctive landmark in the town. It was erected in 1834 to pump the waters from the Doux to the town’s fountains but became both functional and symbolic because the uppermost level was designed to look like a lighthouse.
Ten years ago, the town made the building more attractive to visitors, installed a tourist office on the ground floor and created a tower on top of the tower. For €0.50 you can go up to look over the market and town from a height of 22 meters.
8. Brive Market
Another thing that contributed to Brive's popularity, was a song from 1952 by the French national treasure Georges Brassens. Hécatombe tells the story of a fight between the gendarmerie and Brive’s housewives (who win the battle) in the marketplace.
So that’s how Brive’s covered marketplace came to be known as Halle Georges Brassens. The market trades on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings and should be your first stop for fresh produce and local delicacies.
On Saturdays between November and February, there’s added allure thanks to the special markets for foie gras and black truffles.
9. Collégiale Saint-Martin
Brive radiates from this 12th-century church on a shallow slope at the very core of the town. And although this landmark was completed in the 1100s, it stands on top of a far older church established at the end of the 5th century.
These layers of history have been peeled back in the archaeological crypt, where the vestiges of the Merovingian church are illuminated, and you can inspect ancient sarcophagi.
The current church above it has been remodeled down the years, but keeps its Romanesque character, most visible in the 13th-century capitals atop the columns in the choir.
10. Canal des Moines
One of the best local walks is 10 kilometers to the east on the rugged banks of the Coiroux River. The Canal des Moines an awesome showcase of the resourcefulness and industry of medieval monks.
In the 12th century when the Cistercian monks at Obazine Abbey needed to irrigate their gardens and fields they decided to cut a 1.5-kilometer aqueduct from the cliff-face.
Nearly 900 years later, the pipes continued to irrigate the valley's plots and you could follow the route along the high ledges with foresight, through the large mossy boulders and into the fresh deciduous forest. cool.

Foto: Reprodução / VivaLuxury / SongofStyle / Girl With Curves
Foto: Reprodução / Marina Casemiro / PazHalabiRodrigues / Mannequin Parade

Foto: Reprodução / Aimee Song / Thamarr / The Fancy Pants
Foto: Reprodução / Jordan And Kemp / The fox and she / Neon Blush

Confira:

Now that summer has arrived, everything gets transitioned at my place. Be it clothes, food, makeup, and even skincare.
I’ve collated a few summer favorites of mine, which I think is worth considering to add to your collection or beauty regime!
KIEHLS – LOVE OIL FOR LIPS
Kiehl’s who have launched “Love Oil” For Lips, a lightweight formula infused with lip-loving ingredients like Coconut Oil, Moringa Oil and Acerola Cherry Extract. The best part? There are four pigmented options to tint your lips with glossy color, so you won’t have to sacrifice your love for pigment.
Garnier – Ultra Doux (Avocado Oil & Shea Butter)
I’ve recently been introduced to the Garnier Ultra Doux (Avocado Oil and Shea Butter) This range consists of shampoo, conditioner, and a leave-in cream to fully nourish your dry and frizzy hair. I would highly recommend these products to manage your hair, if you have curly, troubled and frizzy hair these products would definitely help you tame your mane!
VICHY IDEAL SOLEIL – SPF 50 – HIGH PROTECTION
Vichy have introduced their Ideal Soleil range this summer which adds high UV filter protection to a range of sun care products that are designed for different types of skin which means that you can find an SPF product to suit your skin rather than just picking a generic sunscreen that does not cater to your skin type.
In fact, this product was recommended by my dermatologist and I must say I’m loving this product, its matte and not greasy with a dry touch which helps especially for acne prone skin.

How to Care Lips
What makes the lips’ skin so different from other skin areas and why does it need special treatment? What products should you use to make your lips look lush and attractive? We’ll tell you right now.
                                           What Makes Lip Skin Different?
Lip care is an important part of a daily beauty routine. So what are the things you should know about the skin on your lips to take care of it properly?
“The number of sebaceous glands in the lips is significantly reduced with only a small number located in the corners of the lips. That is why in the absence of proper care dryness, peeling, and cracks are unavoidable.”
Dry, chapped lips are uncomfortable and do not add neatness to makeup. Therefore, it is better to systematically maintain the health of your lip skin than to periodically restore it.
You should keep several lip balms, including sunscreen lip balm, in your makeup bag.
Why Do Your Lips Dry Out?
The skin of the lips is essentially more susceptible to the aggressive effects of the external environment since it has a thin epidermis and is almost devoid of natural protective lubricant.
The main causes of dry lips:
a negative impact of environmental factors;
bad habits such as smoking;
constitutional peculiarity;
age-related changes;
vitamin deficiency.
Dry lips can also be caused by some of the decorative cosmetics, such as recently popular matte liquid lipstick. Its long-lasting clingy texture contains almost no oily components, so this kind of makeup implies enhanced lip care before and after putting on lipstick.
How to Take Care of Your Lips?
Seems like an easy task, doesn’t it? But wait, there are some nuances and it’s better to adhere to certain rules.
Make sure your diet is healthy
Beauty begins within. Lack of vitamins and fatty acids in your diet immediately affects the condition of your lips – and this is a compelling reason to reconsider your diet. It should include:
fatty fish: mackerel, halibut, saury, eel, sturgeon;
nuts (walnuts, peanuts), pumpkin seeds;
vegetable oils: olive, flaxseed, sesame, rapeseed;
vegetables and greens: spinach, parsley, pumpkin, Brussels sprouts.
Harmful habits such as smoking and eating spicy foods can also lead to dryness, cracking, and flaking.
Gently exfoliate dead surface skin cells using a scrub with small organic sugar particles.
Never skip a step of your daily lip-care routine
The daily care algorithm involves several steps.
1
Use lip balm
Before going out, apply a protective balm, before going to bed – moisturizing, nourishing, restoring.
2
Exfoliate your lips
Exfoliation is a very useful and beneficial procedure including for the skin of the lips. To get rid of your peeling lips and improve microcirculation try a lip massage using soft scrubs—for example, sugar-based.
3
Apply primer under your lipstick
Instead of a primer you can use a non-greasy balm. Apply it in a thin layer and use the tips of your fingers to gently dab the product into your skin or spread it over your lips with a brush.
4
Remove lip make-up the smart way
Don’t wash your face with soap. Apply your cleansing milk or micellar water to the flat cotton pad and gently remove makeup without rubbing the skin.
To clean the lips of long-wearing matte lipstick, use a nourishing balm. Apply a thick layer of balm on your lips and wait for 30 minutes. The balm will soften the pigment, making it easier to remove with a cloth napkin. This method will help keep the lips smooth and healthy, while regular use of aggressive cleansers will inevitably dry the skin.
  Are there any questions left?
How to minimize vertical wrinkles along the contour of your lips. There are two ways to do this:
regularly use the menthol or hyaluronic acid-based lip plumper;
perform a good thorough peeling for seven days in a row. Apply an intense hydrating moisturizer right after exfoliating with scrub.
Your Lip Skin Requires Different Care in Different Seasons
Changing our lip care routine seasonally is one of the incredibly important conditions that we should observe so that the delicate skin of our lips feels comfortable 365 days a year.
Apply primer before using lipstick, especially if it’s a matte one.
In summer
When it comes to summer lip care, everything is simple: choose lighter textures, in warm (but not hot!) weather you can do with just ordinary lipstick without additional nutrition in the form of balms.
Important
In hot weather be sure to use a UVB protection sunscreen balm. Within the city, the level of SPF 15-20 will be sufficient, but for travelling to warm countries choose products with an SPF of at least 25. And don’t forget to reapply sunscreen at least every 1,5–2 hours (and after meals because it wears off after you eat or drink).
   In winter
In winter in addition to your normal and obligatory steps such as exfoliating, nourishing, and moisturizing, you can also add masks to your lip care routine. If you don’t have a ready-made face mask, apply a thick layer of regenerating cream on your lips and leave it for a few hours, preferably overnight. Sunscreen balm will be useful on vacation at a ski resort: snow reflects the sun’s rays no worse than the surface of the water, putting the skin at increased risk of photo-aging.
Important
When choosing a balm for the winter, carefully study the list of ingredients. Ingredients such as glycerin, oils and ceramides work as water-retaining agents and prevent the feeling of tightness and flaking. Natural vegetable oils (shea, olives, macadamia, coconut) are able to ‘lock’ moisture into the skin and have a protective and antioxidant effect. Hyaluronic acid and aloe extract instantly moisturize and refresh. You can use products that combine all types of ingredients.

Hello Fashionista’s,
The next must have item in our capsule closet has to be the little black dress also known as L.B.D. In fact I would go so far as categorically stating that no modern women’s wardrobe can be considered complete if it does not have one of them.  The popularity of this must have item has by Fashion Historians been ascribed to the 1920’s designs of Coco Chanel.
Double layered shirred bodycon dress
Lets pay homage to this incredible women by finding out a little bit more about them. Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel was born on the 19th August 1883 in Saumur, Maine-et-Loire, France to Eugenie Jeanne Devolle (who went by the name of Jeanne) her Mother who was unmarried and her father, Albert Chanel.  Her mother was a laundrywoman who spent her days working at a charity hospital which was run by the Sisters of Providence.  This was a government run facility which took care of and gave support to the very needy in society.  Coco had an older sister called Julia who was born less than a year earlier.
Her father made a living peddling work clothes and undergarments traveling to and from market towns to do so.  After being persuaded to marry her by her family the couple wed in 1884.  When she was born, Coco’s name was entered into the official registry as “Chasnel”,her mother Jeanne was to unwell to attend the registration.  With both parents absent, the infants’s name was misspelled – suspicion being that it was a clerical mistake.  The couple had three other children, another girl and two boys.  Growing up was extremely cramped as they resided in a one-room lodging in the town of Brive-la-Gallarde, France.
Tragically her mother died of Tuberculosis when she was 12, her mother perishing at the young age of 32.  Her brothers were sent to work as farm labourers and her father sent his three daughters to a convent called Aubazine in Correze which is about 10 km’s away from Brive-la-Gallarde.  The orphanage , was “founded to care for the poor and rejected, including running homes for abandoned and orphaned girls”.  Life in the orphanage was stark, sparse and the nuns demanded strict discipline.  Historians agree that despite the tragic circumstances which landed her in the orphanage, it was here where she learned to sew.  When she turned eighteen, she went to live in a boarding house for Catholic girls in the town of Moulins.  Interestingly it is widely reported that Chanel would tell a somewhat different version of her own childhood when she was older often telling people that after her mother died, her father sailed to America to persue his fortune. Or that she was sent to live with her Aunts. It seems she regailed a far more glamorous childhood than the tragic one afforded to her which saw her loose her mother at such a young age and her being sent to grow up in an institution.
Her name Coco arose from a somewhat different earlier career she enjoyed as a singer – albeit a brief one. She would sing at various clubs in Vichy and Moulins in France. Chanel herself is quoted as saying the name is a “shortened version of cocotte, the French word for ‘kept woman’”. It soon became apparent that a stage career was not for her.

The young Coco Chanel
An association with Etienne Balson when she was twenty years old prompted her early foray into fashion when he assisted her in starting a millinery business in Paris.   When she met Arthur “Boy” Capel – an even wealthier associate of Etienne’s she promptly dumped him. The stylish Arthur was an impeccably dressed man and his influence is widely associated with Chanel’s concept look.  Her first boutique was opened in 1913 in Deauville with Arthur’s financial assistance. The store introduced the world to her range of casual and sportswear. It marked the start of future success. By 1915 a second boutique opened its doors in Biarritz. The establishment of her Maison de couture at 31 rue Cambon took place in 1919.
Coco Chanel introduced the world to the Little Black Dress in the 1920’s.  Her intention being that the dress be affordable and easy-to-wear this being in stark contrast to the restrictive fashion of the time which included constrictive corsets which were used an essential piece of underwear forcing a women’s waist thinner.  She will remain forever enshrined in the fashion worlds hall of fame for freeing women of corsets, daring them to wear short skirts – short enough for their ankles to be shown in public.  It is for this and her elegant, comfortable and practical approach to women’s fashion that revolutionized the world of women’s fashion forever.
In 1921 Coco introduced the world to her first fragrance – named after her as – Chanel No. Five.  The Number Five was included as Chanel had been told it was her lucky number by a fortune teller.   This floral scent was created by Ernest Beaux and he was briefed by Chanel to create a perfume that ‘smelled like a women”.  She did not want it to smell like a rose or lily of valley but rather as a floral composition.  The original scent has been adapted since then by Henri Robert and Jacques Polge
‘I am told that when Mlle Chanel met Ernest Beaux she asked him to create ‘a perfume that will make even the perfumers jealous’. She said he could use the richest products available, and so he used the best he had – jasmine from Grasse, May rose, a special quality of ylang-ylang – and, at the end, he added some aldehydes to let all that richness fly a little,’ Polge said.
Chanel No. 5 was adored by Marilyn Monroe who family said she wears Chanel No. 5 and nothing else to bed.  The perfume remains on the best selling perfumes in the world – adored by celebrities and man across the world.
During the World War II, she was accused of being a Nazi spy. At the end of the war in 1945 Chanel moved to Switzerland. She remained there for nine years eventually returning to Paris in 1954, this marked the re-opening of her couture houses. Chanel, aged 71 is reportedly to have told the famous actress Marlene Dietrich that it was because she was “dying of boredom”.  Her new collection wasn’t well received by Parisians as the taint of being a Nazi spy continued to haunt her. However, her designs were well regarded and endorsed by the British and the Americans.
Another iconic Chanel piece is undoubtedly the Chanel Handbag which was created in 1955.  Owning one of these incredible handbags is akin to being accepted into an exclusive sorority.   For decades the classic flap has been incredibly sought after.  The 2.55 Reissued helped revive the style of this icon in the mid 2000’s.  The redesign appealed to a modern looking new generation of customers who didn’t want to be seen wearing their mothers handbags.
Many other designers and retailers from Urban Outfitters to Marc Jacobs has been accused of stealing from Chanel’s signature bag, and there’s a good reason for that – it’s timeless, iconic and still as relevant to luxury customers today as it was back in the 1950s. Chain straps and quilted leather have become nearly synonymous with the idea of the designer handbag, and the Chanel flap may even be more well-known across the world than the illustrious handbag holy grail, the Hermes Birkin.  Its pricey at about $ 3,000 but then again you would be buying one of the most sought after handbags in the world and you would own a legend.
On 10 January 1971 Chanel died at the hotel Ritz in Paris at the age of 87.  It is widely reported that she uttered her last words to her maid Celine were, “You see, this is how you die.”  A recent biography written by Lisa Chaney called “Coco Chanel:  An Intimate Life” lays claim that she frequently used opiates and considered the use of morphine as a simple sedative.  All of which surfaced with discovered love letters and other archives which go on to claim her bisexuality.  Chanel’s funeral was organized at eglise de Madeleine. She rests in peace in the Bois-de-Vaux Cemetery, Lausanne, Switzerland.
Her life has been captured on two films both released in 2009: Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky starring Anna Mouglalis and based on a novel of the same name, and Coco before Chanel starring Audrey Tautou.
No matter what is portrayed of her posthumously, her influence on the fashion world is unmistakable and her legacy will remain forever.  When a women today puts on a pair of trouser she can credit Chanel that she no longer needs to be squeezed into a corset.  Jackie Kennedy was wearing one of her pink suits on the day JFK was assassinated in Dallas in 1963.  In the 1980’s Karl Lagerfield took over as head of design and he is much credited with appealing to a younger more modern women.   The company owns 100 boutiques around the world and is still one of the most recognized names in fashion and perfume.
In his book, Chanel: A Woman of Her Own, Axel Madsen says, “Coco was the Pied Piper who led women away from complicated, uncomfortable clothes to a simple, uncluttered, and casual look that is still synonymous with her name. It conveys prestige, quality, taste, and unmistakable style.”
Today her namesake company continues to thrive. Although it is privately held, it is believed to generate hundreds of millions in sales each year.
When I think of a black dress I fondly remember my first trip to the far east in 2007.  A shopping trip to the famous Xiushui Street in Beijing.  The Market is in the extension line of Chang’an Street, near to International CBD Commercial Area, so it enjoys convenient location and transport.
Among the extensive variety of goods on offer ranging from branded clothes, shoes, bags, leather goods, sportswear, handicrafts, jewelry, antiques, calligraphy, clocks, watches and glasses to name a few I came across a black dress which caught my eye.  We were a bit weary after making our way through the maze of people selling their goods.  The reason for our weariness stemming from the sellers clutching on to you and whinging that you must by their goods and having to be quite abrupt and stern with them to get rid of them.  It quickly dawned on me to avoid making an eye contact with any sellers as this was an invitation for a sale…I can distinctly remember the sound of “best price”  and “only so many $’s” as clear as if it were yesterday.
The black dress was an exquisite Chloe black dress – complete with a mandarin collar and ruffled detail on the bodice.  The pleated skirt was pure perfection with a ribbon belt which perfectly accentuated the waist.  IT WAS PERFECT and then I tried it on…EVEN MORE PERFECT that it was hanging up in all its splendid glory.  Then I heard the price which was a little more than I was budgeting on spending but I thought surely I can haggle down the price.  So I began in earnest with a price which was immediately cut down – No the price remained.  According to my colleague Amanda who was on hand to assist with the translation who also attempted (in Mandarin I might add) to negotiate better terms – the dress was the actual one the real deal and not a knock off.  Hence the price was justified and not negotiable.  With a heavy heart I exercised restraint and walked away.  Everything else in the market after seeing that glorious dress was boring, plain and to me at least uninteresting.  As our visit to the market was drawing to its inevitable conclusion my head filled with horror that I might never get a chance to wear that dress.  I simply could not leave without that dress – it was haunting me.  No matter which way we tried the seller was not budging –  not even an inch – not even when we argued that if she was a licensed agent she would have to give me a warranty something she was unwilling to do.  So I handed over the cash and the dress looked similar to this one:
I am pleased to report that the dress still hangs in my closet (although I fear it might not fit at the moment as I am carrying some Winter weight which I need to shed).  Equally pleased to report that the dress has attended important events, weddings and sadly a few funerals.  It has been there for girlfriends who have equally needed a Little Black Dress for an occasion – in fact it forms part of a travelling wardrobe between the girlfriends.
It must be said that the dress – with its classic feminine style – has been worth every cent.  The dress wears beautifully, launders well and remains in perfect shape. Whilst I may not have acquired it from a licensed Chloe Store or Agent it’s longevity has been curious to me as to its true origins.
Or perhaps it is simply the nostalgia of remembering those items you buy when you are visiting foreign lands.  They unlock memories, smells, sights and sounds with them of that trip.  We have a standing joke at home that my husband only shops when he is abroad – cause oh boy can he shop!  It is like the minute he gets to a foreign land he becomes a true shopper.  I will never forget the look of sheer delight and enjoyment when we entered an Abercrombie and Finch store in Singapore.  Oh and they smell great – whatever they use to scent their stores with.
Regrettably for us mere mortals, travels to foreign lands to acquire your full wardrobe is not quite realistic at this stage.  However, with the incredible technology at our fingertips today we can order anything, from anywhere, pay for it and have it delivered.  It is truly amazing and astounding.
So no matter what the event is you going to be it a funeral, dinner, dance or even a wedding a little black dress will work.  It remains chic, modern and relevant even after all these years.  One of the most iconic and stylish women of our times, Diana was often seen wearing a stylish Little Black Dress.  I have recently listened to the Audiobook “Diana:  In her own Words” by Andrew Morton which is a series of the Icon’s own insights recorded during “Morton tapes,”  of secret interviews recorded by the princess and sent to the journalist.  The one story which I recall is during the early years, Charles admonished Diana for wearing black to an event and she simply ignored his “oh no wearing black is for a funeral comment” and wore that Little Black Dress.  By the way if you are a massive fan of her then you simply have to listen to the audio book which strikes a deep chord as it is her voice, her thoughts, her fears, her delights and her love of the boys which is so unscripted and real.  Well worth a listen.  You will really admire those royal heirs even more…
So as is immortalized in Coco Chanel and Diana to name a few the Little Black Dress is really worthy of its status as a staple piece and building block of any women’s wardrobe.
So here are some of my investment Little Black Dresses that I would recommend:
I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have putting together its roots and giving the Little Black Dress an insight into its illustrious history which is continuing to evolve among each and everyone of us.
