Avengers: Gen Zero
1: Things Are About To Change
When the Dweller-In-Darkness was defeated by Shang-Chi, everyone thought that the dangers were over. But it was far from such. When Thanos was defeated, the world thought it could go back to normal. They were wrong. Because a new and even more dangerous possible threat was on the horizon. There had been tales of the Fallen Angels, extraterrestrial beings that were expelled from the heights of Caelus for their sins. Nick Fury was busy, but he sent a note to the New York Sanctum in Bleeker Street to get it done, and providing the Ancient One had written notes, Strange, Wong and Elysia got to it. “Have you finished drafting the manuscripts on the Fallen Angels?” Dr Stephen Strange came jogging down the steps with a macchiato in one hand and a frappucino in the other. Elysia Whitlock was working hard on a written report, her golden hair falling over her face as she wrote furiously, her green eyes scrunched up in concentration. Elysia was a Master of the Mystic Arts, born from the power of the Time Stone. The Stone was too powerful, so Wong and Strange formed another branch of the Stone to balance it out, therefore creating Elysia Whitlock, co-Sorcerer Supreme (in her case Sorceress). Being a branch off the Time Stone, she already had magic qualities, so it didn’t take Wong to get her to his level. Now she was like a daughter to Strange, well, a sort of part assistant part daughter-figure. “Almost… done.” She replied, writing the last few words before slamming the fifty books in front of her shut using her magic. Swinging her legs over her stool, she gladly took the frappucino, sipping it and preparing to rest the remainder of the day. Peter Parker was going home with Ned, smiling happily and taking in the calm atmosphere. Everything felt normal, or mildly normal. His suit‘s activator was in his bag, Ned was thankfully alive, so was May, everything was fine. In the meantime, Pepper Potts had retired. The company had been given over to her cousin, another unbelievable genius called Cassie Valentina, who was in fact a teenager at the age of 17 who’d suffered from the attack on Thanos, but the radiation had given her powers. “FRIDAY, can you run trial 216 on the functions of Iron Woman Mark 86, I want everything to be spick and span by the time I test it in the field.” Just as she said that a call arrived from Nick Fury, which she ungraciously accepted as his hologram form paced back and forth. “Valentina, I need you to pull up your satellite views now. It is urgent.” He snapped, hands behind his back. Cassie typed a few things on her tablet before swiping up, a hologram visual of her satellites appearing. “Do you see anything that shouldn’t be there?” “Fury, I’m not in the mood for a pop quiz-” She sighed- “Just look.” Fury frowned, so begrudgingly, she looked, eyes widening as she spotted a large, unshapely circle that seemed to be getting closer. “FRIDAY, enhance.” When FRIDAY broke down the elements of the big blob, she got a 3D model of a black-winged angel, dark shadows underneath their ebony-irised eyes and claws in place of their fingernails. “That is a Fallen Angel. A myth, but seems like it isn’t. They come from the depths of Caelus, a mythical world in heaven that they were banished from due to committing the worst sin in their world: wrath. Now they have destroyed every planet in their way and now they’re coming for us. We need to reinstate the Avengers Initiative, but half of our old team is off world and some are dead. We need a new team, so we have come up with a list of names that would be perfect for this mission. Read it and find them. Hill provided resources for you to find them.” Signing off, Cassie pulled up the list of names. CASSIE VALENTINA / IRON WOMAN
PETER PARKER / SPIDER-MAN
YELENA BOLEVA
NAVENA FEROHE
VIENNA BANNER / AURA
PIPER PARKER / SPIDER-WOMAN
ELYSIA WHITLOCK / SORCERESS SUPREME

Reflection: Teaser
Piper sat on the edge of a building, swinging her legs back and forth. She’d just come fresh from May dying and needed a place to get away from it all. She felt her eyes stinging, hot tears rolling down her face as she buried her hands in her face, taking out the blood-written note she received from Dr Octopus when May died in her universe.
YOU COULD HAVE SAVED HER.
It tore her to the core, knowing that she could’ve saved her aunt, but she was too late. “Look here. It’s little Piper.” She got up, turning around to see Green Goblin there, a Cheshire Cat’s grin on his sly face, hovering on his aircraft. “You killed my aunt.” She growled, slamming on her spider-shaped black necklace, her Iron Spider suiting up. “Child’s play. Oh, dear, sweet Piper, you cannot have everything you want if you try and save everyone. Otto told me of how he murdered every single loved one in your life, and how you were too weak to stop him. It’s typical of Spider-Man and Spider-Woman. Someone always has to die, and they can’t save them. That’s why I became the Green Goblin. I don’t wish for something and wait for it to happen. I take what I wish and people wait for a hero. That’s what happened with your puny aunt. She waited for a hero. A hero… who never came.” Piper screamed as he cackled, webbing his glider and bringing it with a crash down on the bricks, taking out her staff and ripping an end off, revealing a blade which she threw into the bomb compartment, destroying it, the staff flying back to her, unharmed due to Piper’s nanotech. “YOU TAKE THAT BACK!” She yelled, striking the staff against Osborn’s face, before punching him over and over, blind rage consuming Piper as she threw her blows, just as a fist connected with her face. Without her knowledge, her mask clattered to the floor just as Peter ran onto the scene, his suit on without his mask, seeing Spider-Woman beating the hell out of the Green Goblin, but also pulling a knife out of her suit. “Spider-Woman!” He called, seeing her turn around, livid, her hand pinning the Goblin to the wall by his throat. He was shocked to see Piper as the woman under the mask, but he was also seeing a side of her he didn’t even think was possible. “Oh shoot.” The truth dawned on her face as soon as she saw her mask on the floor, webbing Osborn to the wall, his torso fully trapped. “What- you were lying to me? You’re Spider-Woman?” He stared at her in disbelief, before realising he had his suit on. “I know you’re Spider-Man.” Piper told him, wiping Osborn’s blood off her cheek. Peter stared at her in surprise, their first meeting still fresh in his mind. “You’re… a version of me from another dimension.” “True. I was punching him ‘cause he killed May.” “Why,” He advanced, angry, “would you feel what I feel right now?” “Can we take this somewhere else?” Piper bursted indignantly, so they swung together to the building where him and MJ usually hung out, standing in front of one another. “Don’t say you know how I feel. You don’t, and never will.” Peter fumed, tears mingling with the blood. “Are you kidding me?! I don’t know how you feel?! You don’t know how I feel! When you went ahead and cast that stupid spell with Dr Strange, I lost everything. Dr Octopus came to my universe and killed everyone I loved, which is everyone you know right now. Ned, MJ, May, Happy, Betty, Lawrence (which is your Liz), even Flash! I had nothing left for me back in my dimension because of you! The destruction of my life is your fault, Peter! So do not say that I don’t have any idea what you’re feeling right now because I lost May too! I didn’t even get to say goodbye! Her blood was all over my hands and this,” she pulled out the note Octavius gave her, “was given to me right after she died. Peter, you have no idea what I’m feeling. And for the record, this is all your fault. You could’ve saved her by letting Strange push the button. Just could’ve let them die. So now, I’m going to kill them all.” Piper retorted, shoving her finger in Peter’s chest after he read the note, pale.
“And most of all, I can’t wait to shove my knife into Dr Octopus’ heart.”

Reflection Blurb (PETER PARKER)
Being Spider-Man had its ups and downs. You had the best view of Queens, got to save people and always had a sense that people out there know you and love you. The downs were that you constantly face danger, you made attachments that could fall away, and most of all… you have to stay hidden. But for Spider-Woman, there are only downs. Peter Parker went to Dr Strange to get his identity forgotten, but it didn’t work out as expected. Villains he’d never faced before emerged from shadows that seemed to be a multiverse, including a hero named Spider-Woman. She was fresh from losing those she treasured to Dr Octopus in her world, and here came another version of him that she had no choice but to fight.
“Doctor.” She panted as she faced her old foe, who knew absolutely nothing about her except the fact that she was an enemy. “Give up, child. We both know how this ends.” They were stood on a building under construction, ropes, scaffolding and half-built walls around them. “I don’t think it’s how you expect.” Jumping forward, she grabbed a rope and swung forward, sticking her foot out which connected with his midsection. Peter‘s relationship with MJ went under strain when all this happened, Piper Parker’s life catching up with her when she came to Queens.
“I don’t think we should be together anymore.” Peter stuttered, broken at MJ‘s tears that threatened to drop out of her eyes. “Who?” “Piper.” He replied, his voice breaking, the light bathing them making their eyes sting. “I get it. You two get each other, it makes sense. Just… here.” She reached behind her neck and pulled something off, giving it to him. It was the broken black dahlia necklace he gave her on the trip when he fought Mysterio, and it was sad to find out that through this gesture, their relationship was officially over. Both of their strength and determination would be tested, and they didnt know if just the two of them were enough. But their feelings got in the way of their better judgement, while Peter ran towards them, Piper didn’t want to admit them.
“Piper, you cannot do this on your own, when will you understand?!” Peter yelled, running his hand through his hair while chaos reigned above them. “I’ve done it before Peter-” She was cut off by his lips on hers, her hands instinctively moving to his chest. “Please don’t, Pipes.” He grinned when she nodded. “Yeah… I’m sorry, Pete. I can’t let you fight them.” Force was applied on Peter’s chest, shoving him off the building, forcing herself not to cry at the shouts of her name from Peter’s mouth. Reaching to her forearm, she slotted out a small cylinder, lashing it downwards so it could extend into a full on staff, jumping from scaffolding to scaffolding to fight in the blitz that the villains had made. What with Peter’s identity exposure, Piper’s losses and the three ghost villains that are hell-bent on killing them, Peter realises that he can’t save everyone, and Piper realises that flying solo isn’t the way to do it.
“Being Spider-Man and Spider-Woman, takes all that you have, and maybe even all you have isn’t enough.”
