For now though, he merely held Valerie’s gloved hand in his own as they perused the pines, unafraid to eye up a few of the heartier trees. It was a little difficult to choose a tree for his home on his own; the task was normally tackled along side his family. However, since his younger brother set off to Kalos for his studies, Milo’s parents tended to fly down for the holidays. Which was fine. Milo would say as much.

Though having Valerie beside him made it a good deal easier.

“Hm... I’m thinking I want a wider one, less on the tall side. A tad difficult to handle putting the topper.” His voice shuddered with a slight chuckle, sheepish as he spoke, still guiding Valerie along the rows and rows of ready trees.

SKOLL'S JOURNEY had taken her to Kalos, the Zacian finding herself in the city of Laverre. She had to be swift on her feet, her sword temporarily put away for ease of travel, but she wouldn't hesitate to wield it if needed. Amber eyes blinked as she sniffed the air, finding herself staying on the outskirts of the city as she kept to herself.

Why was she here? Her brow knitted together. She knew she had to find her younger brother, Hati, yet with every lead she got only led to dead-ends.

Her gaze wandered over to the sight of a humanoid, her fur bristling slightly on edge. Damnit, she let herself get seen... but the other figure didn't smell of any ill-intent. The scent of fairy-types lingered near, and she found herself at ease. This human was powerful no doubt, she could tell with a single sniff.

Anyway I told myself I was just going to try a couple stickers out before going to bed but ended up spending like 2 hours on @8pxl 's pixel by number kit since it arrived today and it was just the stress relief I needed haha. Definitely recommend.

got my hands on the pixyls x @8pxl collab!! it’s pretty cool - like a mix of diamond painting and sticker by number. also grabbed a sticker sheet and their tweezer. can’t actually start the 8pxl one yet because there’s a misprint on the stickers, but the company has been super cool and is sending me new ones so I’ll update when I get them!! :)

Hubberholme Candle Auction

Today and the first week in January is when candle auctions are held - annual auctions for grazing rights or other agricultural practices on pieces of village or town common land, most of which date from the eighteenth century (although some are claimed to be much older). In their day candle auctions represented a chance to pick up some prime land for a very reasonable rent although these days they often have a more charitable status with proceeds going to good causes. In Hubberholme in North Yorkshire , The George pub hosts a candle auction on the first Monday of the New Year, for an 16-acre piece of land known as Poor Pasture. Bidding begins at 8pm with the lighting of a traditional candle and hots up when a pin stuck through the candle threatens to fall as it burns down. Once the the pin falls, the auction ends, approximately four hours after bidding commenced. The maintenance of the Poor Pasture is then the legal responsibility of the successful bidder for twelve months, and it can be put to a number of permitted purposes, but no building on it is allowed.

The auctioneer is the local vicar who puts the proceeds to charitable use. The landlord of the pub also commits to keeping the candle lit every day during opening hours. There are at least ten other candle auctions held up and down the country at this time of year, with some being more recent revivals of the old custom.
