They’re golden drachmas. Dollars for human world, drachmas for mythic world. Don't mix 'em up.

tiny details about the PJO TV show that I appreciated (episode 3)
a followup to THIS post.
Grover having a conversation with the pegasus
The candy Annabeth goes to grab from the gas station isn't real in our world... meaning that the viewer is just as unfamiliar with it as she is
Percy's bed is the only bed in cabin 3 (and there were probably no beds in that cabin until he was claimed)
Medusa's dress makes her look like a marble statue
Grover, who is theoretically Percy's best friend, calls Sally "the only person who ever really cared about [Percy]." Self loathing? Guilt? A simple acknowledgment that he only came into Percy's life less than a year ago? Awareness of how much he's lied to Percy? SO much to unpack in one sentence.
Both Annabeth and Percy's opinions of Medusa can be summed up as "I believe everything my mother says about her."

Percy Jackson Ep. 3 Thoughts (MINOR SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES AHEAD)
Okay, I've seen a bunch of conflicting takes on Percy's line about how Thalia "met a pinecone fate" so I figured I'd give my two cents.
To those who read the book, this line does come off as unnecessarily unsympathetic and rude - and while this does make sense AFTER Percy actually meets Thalia, at this point in the book Percy is pretty empathetic of what Thalia went through.
However, the show isn't going exactly line by line with the book, and they are emphasizing both Percy's anger towards the gods AND the "you will be betrayed by a friend" subplot. Because of this, we can understand why in the show Percy reacts to Thalia's story with skepticism and doubt towards the gods ("the most powerful being in the universe's best idea to save his daughter's life is to turn her into a tree?"). And since we know about Annabeth's pride and faith in the gods, she reacts to this statement with anger, describing Thalia as a true hero and immediately stating that Percy could never live up to her.
Combine these factors with the little factoid we learn later in the episode (about how Percy chose her for the quest because of her ruthless nature and because he couldn't believe they'd ever be friends, therefore preventing the betrayal line in the prophecy) and it makes total sense why he would respond to Annabeth's provocative statement with a uncharacteristic moment of callousness. If it had just been Grover telling him the story, like it was in the book, we almost certainly would've gotten a more emphatic response.
But one of the many things I like about this show is how they are making the characters more complex, heroes and villains alike. Percy not only isn't a perfect hero, he isn't a perfect person, AND he is also twelve! He makes a lot of dumb comments and he is very strongly influenced by his emotions! He is also has the habit of making off-handed remarks, and sometimes they lighten the situation, and sometimes they don't.
With all the analysis I've been seeing about this show, I'm shocked by how many people are making snap judgements about the whole series from one line in an episode. We're only on episode three, y'all. Give them time to work and flesh out these characters more, and maybe have some trust that the author knows what he's doing? Maybe wait to make your in-depth analysis about how certain characters are portrayed until we see all of season one 💀

Ares talking about his family pushing each other down the stairs when needed is such a good line. Annabeth has always wanted to be recognized by her mother and be like her. Percy says this same thing about her pushing him down the stairs when choosing her for the question. And then Annabeth choosing to not be like her mother (like the gods) by not abandoning Percy
