The Events At Poroth Farm Read Along: Affidavit
Until August 20th, stay tuned for the unfolding of the terrible truth about The Events at Poroth Farm, by T.E.D Klein!
Are you sitting comfortably? Then we'll begin...
***
As the novella begins, the summer is over, but Jeremy’s hotel room is like an oven. Instead of finishing his preparations for the course on gothic literature that he would have been teaching at Trenton State in the fall, he’s spent the past few days shut up in his sweltering room with the windows locked tight, not daring to leave. The place where he spent the past few months, Poroth Farm, is now a crime scene, while the residents of the nearby town of Gilead whisper of bad crops, polluted well water and rural murder.
Jeremy knows the truth, and he’s going to tell his story…just as soon as the telephone in his room stops ringing, and as long as whatever he desperately fears — whether it’s something waiting on the other end of the line, or an ordinary youth in red sunglasses, sitting on the courthouse steps opposite Jeremy’s hotel for almost as many days as he’s been hiding there — allows him the time to tell it.
A sense of humor- that's one quality I never noticed in it. I saw only a deadly seriousness and, of course, an intelligence that grew at terrifying speed, malevolant and inhuman. If it now feels itself safe enough to toy with me before doing whatever it intends to do, so much the worse for me. So much the worse, perhaps, for all. I hope I'm wrong. Though my name is Jeremy, derived from Jeremiah, I'd hate to be a prophet in the wilderness. I'd much rather be a harmless crank. But I believe we're in for trouble. [1]
While working out how best to begin his affidavit, Jeremy muses on the wilderness that can still be found in rural New Jersey, and the numerous tiny towns that can exist so close to major cities while both are nearly unaware of the other’s existence; religious communities that have remained virtually unchanged since the late 1800s, when technology such as telephones and telegraph truly began to link up America. Jeremy travelled into such a wilderness to one of those towns, Gilead, twenty miles north of Flemington, in quest of solitude. Two members of the close-knit community in Gilead were the Poroths, a married couple barely a few years older than Jeremy who had come to farming relatively late, having purchased their property only the previous year. Looking to supplement their income while they built up their farm, they advertised for a tenant to rent one of their refitted outbuildings behind their farmhouse, and Jeremy, seeking a place where he could read without distraction, saw the immensely secluded location as the perfect spot for his studies.
Jeremy goes into some detail describing the friends he never expected to make, and whom he’s clearly lost. He muses on their physical similarity, due to the limited gene pool in Gilead – both of them were tall, black haired, incredibly pale despite their work in the sun, and seeming at first glance to be siblings rather than merely third cousins - and on the dichotomy of the pair; while belonging to a tiny Mennonitic order and possibly only allowing someone like Jeremy (a dyed in the wool sceptic) to stay on their property because of Sarr’s affinity for the prophet Jeremiah, they were considered young liberals by most of Gilead, with Sarr obtaining a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Rutgers, Deborah attending community college for two years, and the sheer fact that they owned a television set – ‘in light of what was to come, however, it is unfortunate they lacked a telephone.’ [2] He muses how a visitor to the farm would initially think Sarr moody, stoic and silently judging them, until they realised ‘his reserve was not born of surliness but shyness’. By contrast, Deborah bubbled over with enthusiasm whenever she forgot the formality of her order, with ever increasing verbal and physical affection to both guests and the couple’s seven cats. Alcohol only increased their differences; ‘Deborah would forget the restraints upon women in the order and would eventually dominate the conversation, while her husband would seem to grow increasingly withdrawn and morose.’ [3] In hindsight, Jeremy wonders who really was the stronger of the pair, as he only ever saw them quarrel once.
His plan, now, is to turn to certain portions of the journal he kept throughout the summer in preparation for his anticipated course. Initially meant to record the books he read each day and to keep track of how he’d react to relative and extended solitude, it’s now the sole chronicle of the beginning, unfolding and climax of the terrible events at Poroth Farm. Once his affidavit is completed, Jeremy plans to sneak outside to mail them, and then leave New Jersey for good, clinging desperately to his optimism even while knowing that his fate ‘perhaps […] depends on what’s beneath those rose-tinted spectacles’ [4] of the boy on the steps.
The first diary entry begins on June 4th…

TRANSFORM YOUR SMILE WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS AND TEETH STRAIGHTENING TREATMENT IN FLEMINGTON
Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you, and it plays a crucial role in creating a positive first impression. If you're unhappy with your smile, whether it's because of missing teeth or misaligned teeth, you may be hesitant to smile or speak up confidently. Fortunately, there are modern dental treatments available that can help you achieve the perfect smile you've always wanted. Two of the most popular options are dental implants and teeth straightening treatment. If you're looking for dental implants and teeth straightening treatment in Flemington, you've come to the right place. In this article, we'll discuss how these treatments can transform your smile and boost your confidence.
Dental Implants in Flemington
Dental implants are a popular option for people who have lost one or more teeth due to injury, decay, or other reasons. A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone, where it acts as an artificial tooth root. A prosthetic tooth, such as a crown or bridge, is then attached to the implant, creating a natural-looking and functional tooth replacement.
One of the biggest advantages of dental implants is that they provide a permanent solution for missing teeth. Unlike dentures or bridges, dental implants are not removable, and they do not require special maintenance or cleaning routines. With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime, making them a cost-effective solution in the long run.
Another advantage of dental implants is that they look and feel like natural teeth. Because the implant is anchored to the jawbone, it provides a stable and secure foundation for the prosthetic tooth. This means that dental implant patients can enjoy all their favorite foods and activities without worrying about their teeth shifting or coming loose.
Teeth Straightening Treatment in Flemington
If you're unhappy with the alignment of your teeth, you may be a candidate for teeth straightening treatment. There are several options available, including traditional braces, clear aligners, and lingual braces.
Traditional braces consist of metal brackets and wires that are attached to the teeth and adjusted periodically to gradually shift the teeth into the desired position. While traditional braces are effective, they can be uncomfortable and may require dietary restrictions.
Clear aligners are a popular alternative to traditional braces. Clear aligners consist of a series of clear plastic trays that are custom-made to fit your teeth. Each tray is worn for a few weeks before being replaced by the next tray in the series. Clear aligners are nearly invisible, comfortable to wear, and can be removed for eating and cleaning.
Lingual braces are similar to traditional braces, but they are attached to the back of the teeth instead of the front. This makes them virtually invisible, but they can be more challenging to clean and adjust.
No matter which teeth straightening treatment you choose, the end result will be a straighter, more beautiful smile. Straight teeth are not only aesthetically pleasing, but they also improve your oral health by making it easier to clean between the teeth and reducing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay.
Conclusion
If you're unhappy with your smile, dental implants and teeth straightening treatment can help you achieve the perfect smile you've always wanted. At Flemington Dental Arts, we offer a wide range of dental services, including dental implants and teeth straightening treatment. Our team of experienced dental professionals is committed to providing our patients with the highest quality care and personalized treatment plans. Guess who writes an Erwin/Reader fic? I’m dropping it in here and went to hide.
Impact - Chapter 1 (also read on Ao3)
The velvet cushions were soft under my body as I lied down on the couch. Eyes closed and my dress hiked up to reveal a generous portion of my left leg. I could feel the guards trying their best to avoid looking at the naked flesh and failing. The room was hot and I was getting bored. Thankfully, it wasn’t long after I heard the footsteps echoing through the corridors beyond the door. The guards opened it up at the exact time he reached the threshold.
I straightened up on the couch, flashing a mischievous smirk at him. His eyes shone the way they did when he sees me.
“My beauty,” he said as he opened both his arms upon his sides. I tried to stand up as gracefully as I could and walked over his open arms.
“You made me wait so much,” I said, hugging him around the middle and using the tone of voice I always did when spoke to him. Girlish and sultry. He circled his right arm around my waist and used the left one to motion at his assistant.
“I got a gift for you.” His assistant lends him an expensive-looking little box. Navy blue eyes watching my facial expressions intently as he took a step back. The box was opened to reveal a necklace with five big red rubies, and the expression on my face was genuine. Awed, baffled, and a little thrown away by how much money this man had possessed. He smiled, satisfied with whatever he saw on my face, and took the necklace to his hand.
“You are going to escort me tonight on the warming ball. Nothing less is worthy of you.” He said as he turned me around to put the necklace on my throat. My ankle-length black dress floated around my light. Well, being the arm candy of Lord Harold V. Bolton had those sorts of advantages, I guessed.
I turned around to look at him as he was done with the clasping of the heavy necklace, caressing one of the rubies with the tip of my finger.
“It is so beautiful, thank you,” I said as I push a white lock of hair out of his face. He was old, yet tall and fit. He was a handsome man.
“You are very much welcome,” he said and pecked my lips. His assistant couched a little as he was looking down, red-faced.
“Sir, are you ready to leave?”
“Let’s get it over with. We have still one more party the next week.” Harold secured his arm around me before pecking me on the lips one more time.
The guards opened the giant doors as we entered the giant ballroom. It was clear that Harold didn’t avoid spending any money. The giant hall was blended with gold and cream colors, lit with hundreds of candles and torches. Alcohol was flowing like a river of water, and waiters were loaded with heavy tries filled with more food that could feed a family for a month. Especially after the fall of Wall Maria.
I smiled brightly, nails biting down my palm, and pressed my lips to Harold’s cheek as we went our separate ways. He needed to chitchat with all the important men within the hall, including the consultants of the King and military commanders, the latter of which were invited for meeting and greeting since the ball next week would pretty much be all about them. I grabbed a glass of champagne on my way, as I had to entertain the wives and partners.
“Oh my dear,” I heard the wife of Lord Flemington, a consultant the King, coming toward me, pushing everyone that dared to get on her way with her plump body.
“Lady Flemington!” I said cheerfully as I made a quick curtsy.
“Ah, you look, lovely dear,” she glimpsed at my necklace quickly. Her eyes narrowed as her lips curved upwards in a cynic smirk.
“It is your beautiful eyes that see the beauty.”
“How are you doing my darling?” she asked with her baritone tone and continued without waiting for an answer, “Have you met my niece?”
A young girl with caramel-colored hair took a break from glaring at my necklace and smiled beside her aunt.
“No, I wasn’t fortunate enough,” I said and smiled at the girl. She checked me out without much effort to be subtle. A smirk, very much similar to her aunt formed on her face.
“My name is Rose – Rose Flemington,” she said with a tone that was obviously demanding respect.
“It was so nice to meet you, Miss Flemington,” I curtsy lightly again.
“Likewise,” but that little smirk told me otherwise.
“I have heard you start… staying with Lord Bolton, dear,” Mrs. Flemington asked as she started fanning herself with her infamous giant fan.
“I’m visiting him temporarily,”
“Are you his niece?” Rose asked, faking an interest since she knew I was not. As a response, I laughed merrily, throwing my head back.
“I’m his friend,” the laughter was still present in my voice. She and her aunt exchanged a quick look.
“Well, I would say a very dear friend. Is that necklace a gift from Lord Bolton?” Mrs. Flemington asked as she snapped her fan in her palm. I touched the ruby in the middle gently.
“Ah, yes he is so very generous is not he?”
“Yes, he is generous man,” Mrs. Flemington said and then murmured under her breath, “he used to be a dignified one as well.”
Rose was trying to hide her giggle into her palm when I first noticed the air around me changed. The hairs on the back of my neck stand on their ends. I knew the feeling. I was being watched. As if to glance around the hall, I turned my head to the side but whoever was watching me was already lost within the crowd. The Flemingtons left my side as they took offense to my distraction.
I continued to wander through the hall, making small talk with noisy noblewomen, but the feeling stayed with me throughout of all. The pickling in my neck, the goosebumps on my upper arms. I also came to realize there should be more than one person watching over me. But whenever I got close to get a glimpse of them they disappeared into the shadows lurking around the corners. I watched Harold for a while. He was chatting enthusiastically, a glass of sparkly champagne in hand and a lit cigar in mouth. He caught me staring and rose his glass toward me, the movement gathering attention from the other noblemen around him as they all saluted me with their glasses as well. I smiled and walked toward him. Pretending not to notice how almost every man around him watching me approach. Something wicked shone in Harold’s eyes. I knew he liked knowing how everyone around him knew I was his.
“I will powder my nose; I will be back in a second,” I said to him, putting a hand on his chest.
“Don’t make me wait,” he said goodheartedly. I waved him over, making my way out of the hall. Toward the doors, my eyes met with the eyes of the Commander of Military Police, Nile Dok. After looking at my face for a second he slightly bowed his head in acknowledgment. I smiled at him brightly despite the anxiety boiling in my stomach.
Immediately after I set my foot through the threshold of the ballroom, two guards started trailing after me as they always did when I change places. Nick and Kia.
I took a deep, calming breath to slow down my hammering heart.
My sweaty palm hovering over the slit of my dress, brushing lightly against the dagger I kept bounded around my leg. The air was tense and thick with anticipation. We were almost halfway to my bedroom. That was when I felt them move.
Pulling the dagger out of its place in a flash, I circled back. Ready to take any blow Nick or Kia was about to deal. But to my surprise, it never came. Without any warning, more men hurled out of the dark corners, where they should have been hiding. Two of them tackled a surprised Nick and Kia to the ground with force, making their weapons fly across the hall. I stand still in shock as the men kept struggling, yelling, and trying to fight back.
Thanks to the torchlights attached securely on the walls, a shadow was revealed onto the ground, coming behind me. I turned around in a heartbeat, the pointy side of my dagger digging slightly on the soft skin of my attacker’s throat. His arm was restraining me to dig it any deeper. His own knife was pointed to my own, but unlike me, he avoided sticking it to my throat. A tall man with perfectly combed blond hair. I could swear I have seen him before somewhere.
“I don’t want to hurt you,” my opponent spoke and despite his expressionless face, I could see his surprise by my sudden action in his eyes.
“Says the man who had a knife against my throat,” I deadpanned. Immediately he lowered his weapon.
“My apologies. It was for self-defense” he eyed the dagger still pointed at his throat. Suddenly I have remembered where I knew him.
I heard the footsteps echoing through the hall at a fast pace. Turning around I saw the men Erwin Smith, the Commander of Survey Corps who happened to ‘save’ my life, brought with himself successfully pinned my struggling guards down.
Three military police soldiers that were attending the ball came out running. They glanced at the scene with horrified faces but to their credits, they collected themselves up rather quickly.
“Are you alright, miss?” Finn, a tall brunet from the MP, asked while eyeing the towering Commander behind me.
“I – I’m,” the stutter on my part wasn’t an act. Other MPs knelt down beside the guards who at the end understood they weren’t get away with it and stopped their fighting.
“Oi, you,” the raven-haired man tackled Nick down called out Finn. I recalled him as being labeled as humanity’s strongest soldier by the civilians. Great.
“Go and alert Burton. He needs to come here immediately.”
Finn glimpsed at me briefly and turned to do exactly that when he saw I approved with a slow blink of my eyes.
“Commander,” Gerald, another MP, gave a salute to Smith, “What exactly are you doing here?”
“One of my soldiers overhears the Miss’s guards have some ill intentions regarding her. It was very late notice, and unless we act quickly it might be too late.”
“With all due respect, you should let the Military Police know,” Gerald said through gritted teeth.
“Were you not listening or are you just that dense? The man just said there was no time,” the short man with raven hair snapped. Gerald turned toward him with a hard look on his eyes, opening his big mouth.
“I think I need to sit down.” I interrupted before he could say anything, wobbling on my feet. The commander’s warm hand grabbed me from my underarm and he guided me to a nearby ottoman. Soon after I was sat securely, new footsteps were echoing the halls once again. Harold came in a rush, face pale and hands shaking.
“Connor!” he uttered my name urgently. Sitting beside me, and hugging me tightly to his side. I saw Nile came in a rush as well. He checked me out quickly, and when he made sure that I was okay, turned toward Commander Smith.
“Just what the hell happened here?”
I listened as Erwin Smith repeated how the events unfold. How he heard about the assassination but couldn’t afford to lose any time to alert the others around. How he took his most trusted two soldiers, Mike and Levi he said, with him to investigate. Harold was drawing soothing circles around my back as Nile and other MPs listened. My attackers had already led away in handcuffs, bruised faces, and even more bruised egos. The mansion was searched but to no avail. One of the guards, who was on watch at the back door reported a black carriage waited but the moment Nick and Kai were boarded to an official MP carriage, it took off. There were no other clues.
Nile took a few steps closer to the ottoman Harold and I were sitting.
“Lord Burton, please allow me to leave two of my most trusted soldiers here for extra protection of the Miss. At least until we figured out who is behind this attempt.”
“The soldiers who were too late, Commander?” Harold asked through gritted teeth. His hand stopping their motions on my back. Nile shot a side-eye look at Finn and Gerald, his unpleasantness with the situation was clear.
“I would feel safer Harold,” I said as I clasped his hand within mine. He turned to me.
“Don’t worry, sweetheart. I will assign my best guards to you,”
“But – what about you?”
“Don’t worry about me,” he said smiling and pressing his lips to the side of my head.
“My lord, the whole house searched. It is safe.” Another guard walked toward us to inform us.
“Thank you,” he said before helping me up. We bid our goodnights and thank yous to the soldiers present. As I passed by I looked straight in the eye of Erwin Smith, and even though it was very brief I saw how taken aback he was by the venom of my expression.
********************************************
A week passed by since the ‘incident’. A week that I couldn’t sleep well at night of how tense and stressed I had been during the day. A week everyone around me had blamed it on the incident how pale I looked and how little I ate. A week of tiptoeing around, listening to footsteps as I searching places that I wasn’t supposed to. A week of a total pain  my ass.
My torture was continuing as I was walking around in the Military Fund Raiser Ball Harold was throwing. Many familiar faces were in the crowd. Some, the ones that were the most important ones, especially for the night, nodding at me subtly whenever I caught their eyes. I tried to take comfort from that.
Everything is okay.
I kept saying that in my head, over and over. Harold was chatting with Premier Dhalis Zachary. Nile was circling the ballroom. He caught my eye for a second and tried to smile, though I could say he was just as nervous as I was. It was more crowded than the last week since Harold had maximized the security. Lady Flemington was waving me over to go near her as I saw a group of military police entered the ballroom. My breathing got heavier as they marched toward Harold Burton. Everyone’s eyes were following their every move. Premier took a few steps back.
The soldier, Gerald, stood right in front of Harold.
“Lord Burton, you are under arrest for malversation, prostitution, and withholding civilians without their permission…” Gerald was reading Burton’s rights as something caught my eye among the crowd. Perfectly combed blond hair. Baby blue eyes that I could saw the remarkableness of them regardless of the distance between us. He was wearing a suit that was similar to the one he had worn last week. I didn’t take my eyes off of his as Burton was led away and all the remaining uniformed MPs turned toward me. I could feel everyone in the ballroom now was staring at me, shocked by the unraveling events, and continued to gawk, as they kept unraveling. Lady Flemington had a hand on her chest and a smile that she tried to contain as she deemed I must be in trouble as well. From the periphery of my eye, I saw Finn came to stand close to me. A green cloak folded neatly on his hands.
I watched as the Commander of the Survey Corps knitted his eyebrows together. I assumed he had been known about the assassination from the beginning, probably days before the ball. He was trying to make a good impression on the Corps so that Harold would donate more than he was planning initially tonight. To the legion that harbored the soldiers who had saved his precious sweetheart. And even if I was wrong that that wouldn’t be the case, and all Erwin Smith had been trying to do was to protect me, it still didn’t make up for all the troubles he caused me last week. It was very petty but I couldn’t help the smug smirk forming on my face. I took great pleasure from his baffled expression.
I turned toward Finn and looked him down.
“The whole mansion was searched, captain. All belongings of Lord Burton were seized for further investigation.”
“Thanks, Finn,” I said and took the cloak out of his hand. As I tossed the green cloak that was embroidered with the unicorn representing the military police, the uniformed MPs saluted me in perfect harmony. Eyes shone with pride.
I gave out a long breath as the tension finally left my body.

These were the times...
On April 10 2014 the legendary E Street Band
Was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.
Bruce Springsteen made the Induction Speech.
In the beginning, there was Mad Dog Vincent Lopez, standing in front of me, fresh out of jail, his head shaved, in the Mermaid Room of the Upstage Club in Asbury Park. He told me that he had a money-making outfit called Speed Limit 25, they were looking for a guitarist, and was I interested? I was broke, so I was. So the genesis point of the E Street Band was actually a group that Vini Lopez asked me to join to make a few extra dollars on the weekend.
Shortly thereafter, I met Dan Federici. He was draped in a three quarter-length leather, had his red hair slicked back. His wife Flo, she was decked out in a blonde bouffant wig, and they were straight out of Flemington, New Jersey. [Cheers] Whoa! Flemington!
Vini, Danny, myself, along with bass player Vinnie Roslin, were shortly woodshedding out of a cottage on the main street of a lobster-fishing town, Highlands, New Jersey. I first saw Garry Tallent along with Southside Johnny when they dragged two chairs onto an empty dance floor as I plugged my guitar into the Upstage wall of sound. I was the new kid in a new town, and these were the guys who owned the place, and they sat back and looked at me like, "Come on, come on, punk, bring it — let's see what you got." And I reached back, and I burnt their house down.
But predating all of this was Steve Van Zandt. Singer! Frontman! Frontman! He was the frontman — I walked into the Middletown Hullabaloo Club, he was the frontman for a band called The Shadows. He had on a tie that went from here down to his feet. All I remember is that he was singing The Turtles' "Happy Together." During a break — at the Hullabaloo Club in New Jersey, you played 55 minutes on and five minutes off, and if there was a fight, you had to rush back onstage and start playing again. So I met Stevie there, and he soon became my great... bass player first, then great guitarist. My consigliere, he's my dependable devil’s advocate whenever I need one. He is the invaluable ears for everything that I create — I always get a hold of him — and fan number one. He's my comic foil onstage, my fellow producer/arranger, and my blood, blood, blood, blood, blood brother, for so long. So, Stevie, let’s keep rolling for as many lives as they’ll give us, alright?
Years and bands went by: Child, Steel Mill, the Bruce Springsteen Band... they were all some combo of the above-mentioned gang. Then I scored a solo recording contract with Columbia Records, and I argued to get to choose my recording "sidemen" — which was a misnomer, in this case, if there ever was one. So, I chose my band, and my great friends, and we finally landed on E Street. A rare, rock 'n' roll hybrid of solo artistry and a true rock 'n' roll band.
But one big thing was missing.
So! It was a dark and stormy night! [Laughs] As a Nor’easter rattled the street lamps of Kingsley Blvd! And in walked Clarence Clemons. I'd been enthralled by the sax sounds of King Curtis and Junior Walker and had searched for years for a great rock 'n' roll saxophonist, and that night Clarence walked in, walked towards the stage, and he rose, towering to my right on the Prince's tiny stage, about the size of this podium, and then he unleashed the force of nature that was the sound and the soul of the Big Man. In that moment, I knew that my life had changed. Miss you, love you, Big Man — we wish you were here with us tonight. This would mean a great, great deal to Clarence.
An honorable mention and shout-out to Ernie "Boom" Carter, the drummer who played on one song only: "Born to Run." He picked a good one, he picked a good one. So here's to you, Ernie. Thank you, thank you.
And thank you of course to Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan, who answered an ad in the Village Voice, and they beat out 60 other drummers and keyboardists for the job. It was the indefatigable, almost dangerously dedicated Mighty Max Weinberg and the fabulous flying fingers of Professor Roy Bittan. They refined and they defined the sound of the E Street Band that remains our calling card around the world to this day. Thank you, Roy. Thank you, Max. They are my professional hitmen! Love you both.
Then, ten years later, Nils Lofgren and Patti Scialfa joined just in time to assist us in the rebirth of Born in the U.S.A. Nils, one of the world's great, great rock guitarists with the choir boy’s voice, has given me everything he’s had for the past 30 years. Thank you, Nils. So much love.
And Patti Scialfa, a Jersey Girl, came down one weekend from New York City and sat in with a local band, Cats on a Smooth Surface and Bobby Bandiera at the Stone Pony, and she sang a killer version of The Exciters' "Tell Him." She had a voice that was filled with a little Ronnie Spector, a little Dusty Springfield, and a lot of something that was her very, very own. After she was done, I walked up, I introduced myself to her at the back bar. We grabbed a couple of stools and we sat there for the next hour — or 30 years or so [laughs]. Talked about music and everything else. So we added my lovely red-headed woman, and she broke the boys club!
I wanted our band to mirror our audience, and by 1984, that meant grown men and grown women. But, her entrance freaked us out so much that the opening night of the Born in the U.S.A. tour, I asked her to come in to my dressing room and see what she was gonna wear. And she had on kind of a slightly feminine T-shirt, and I stood there, kind of sweating. At my feet, I had a little Samsonite luggage bag that I carried with me, and I kicked it open, and it was full of all my smelly, sweaty T-shirts. And I said, "Just pick one of these [laughs]. It'll be fine!" She's not wearing one tonight. But Patti, I love you, thank you for your beautiful voice, you changed my band and my life. Thank you, honey. Thank you for our beautiful children.
Real bands: real bands are made primarily from the neighborhood. From a real time and a real place that exists for a little while, then changes, and is gone forever. They're made from the same circumstances, the same needs, the same hungers, culture, from the same need for a love to cover over hurt. They're forged in the search of something more promising then what you were born into. These are the elements, the tools, and these are the people who built a place called E Street.
Now, E Street was a dance, was an idea, was a wish, was a refuge, was a home, was a destination, was a gutter dream, and finally, it was a band. We struggled together, and sometimes we struggled with one another. We bathed in the glory and often the heartbreaking confusion of our rewards together. We’ve enjoyed health, and we've suffered illness and aging and death together. We took care of one another when trouble knocked, and we hurt one another in big and small ways.
But in the end, we kept faith with each other. And one thing is for certain: as I've said before in reference to Clarence Clemons, I told a story with the E Street Band that was and is bigger than I ever could have told on my own. And I believe that that settles that question. For that is the hallmark of a rock 'n' roll band: the narrative you tell together is bigger than any one of you could have told on your own. That’s the Rolling Stones. That's the Sex Pistols. That's Bob Marley... and the Wailers. That's James Brown... and his Famous Flames. That's Neil Young and Crazy Horse. So, I thank you, my beautiful men and women of E Street. You made me dream and love bigger than I ever could have without you.
And tonight I stand here with just one regret. That's that Danny and Clarence can't be with us tonight. Sixteen years ago, a few evenings before my own induction, I stood in my own darkened kitchen along with Steve Van Zandt. Steve was just returning to the band, after a 15-year hiatus, and he was petitioning me to push the Hall of Fame to induct all of us together. And I listened, and the Hall of Fame had its rule, and I was proud of my independence. We hadn't played together in ten years, we were somewhat estranged. We were just taking the first small steps of reforming, and we didn't know what the future would bring. And perhaps a shadow of the some of the old grudges still held some sway. It was a conundrum, because we'd never been quite fish nor fowl. And Steve was quiet, but persistent, and at the end of our conversation he just said, "Yeah, yeah, I understand... but Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band — that's the legend."
So I’m proud to induct, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the heart-stopping, pants-dropping, hard-rocking, booty-shaking, love-making, earth-quaking, Viagra-taking, testifying, death-defying, legendary E Street Band!

Extra Home, Apartment
This project has been imagined on the site of 415 Flemington Road. An apartment building attaches itself to a petrol station. The typology of a petrol station is an architecture that we recognise from the outside, the type speaks for itself. I see this, however, as an example of an outlier from the rest of Melbourne; a city with architecture that is reserved, concealing anything about itself externally. The outlier, is a non-specific architecture that is ‘copied and pasted’ where needed, its genericness is its rule. The project measures this ordinariness against an uncertain extra-ordinariness that could exist adjacently.
The welding together of these two opposing things results in a surprisingly typical ‘Melbourne’ outcome for a residential building; retail becomes the podium for dwellings above. The apartment building tiptoes around the found thing, trying not to draw too much attention to itself, but it seems as though this attempt to quietly blend into the existing palette reveals an accidental and loud incongruity.
Melbourne’s uniformity is its non-uniformity; the rule is that there is no rule. There is an inherent connectedness between two unlikely things that are drawn together.
The intersection between two things that are connected is what I have become interested in, like with a party wall that separates but binds two dwellings. The apartment typology itself is designed to keep to oneself. The entry to an apartment building, however, is a point of interruption; a place where you see people you recognise, but cannot be bothered engaging with. The entry is an attempt for the ultimate seclusion; an architecture for avoiding small talk and awkward hellos. The revolving door undoes the function of a typical door, always open and always closed. The materiality conceals any suggestion of the interior. You cannot know what happens internally until you enter.
The apartment building is coupled with an extra home, a dwelling for a homeless individual that slots into the back corner. It quietly comes in, minds its own business, and makes a home out of the existing. The home improvises. The brick-screen both shields and masks the extra home in providing an entry to the dwelling. Existing bricks are removed for each riser to be inserted and squeezed into as a means of quietly slotting in. It is relative to the way I see homelessness in Melbourne, where an attempt to mind one’s business and keep to oneself only draws more attention to the unsuitability of the situation.
The project asks what the architecture looks like at the in-between of two separate things. The double wall thickness around the extra home provides a sense of security from the rest of the apartments, and so the backdoor of the extra home is the result of two things that are connected and separated. The sunken door and recessed handle attempt to give nothing away about itself. But the inevitability of this depth perhaps speaks louder than the adjacent storeroom door that we too often do not notice.
In becoming a home for a homeless individual, the architecture is designed for adjustment. The inhabitant is able to control how much they want to engage with the outside. Varying material translucencies allow for switch between introspection or self-expression, allowing the home to be kind of integrated but also kind of not.

I’m Sorry
Dear Alex,
I know you probably will never see this, because you haven’t used this site in forever but i need somewhere to say this to you and I don’t know if i will get the chance to make things better.
Where do I start? our first date? I couldn’t believe that I had finally met someone who I resonated with quite like I did with you.
Do you remember? we spoke all night like it was nothing, we shared our interests, our thoughts, our dreams, what we wanted in life. every aspect of what you wanted matched mine. I never wanted that night to end, I could have spoken to you until my lungs gave out. I could have looked into your blue eyes until I was old and grey and you would have captivated me every step of the way.
I remember laughing and smiling, sharing shitty date stories, our heart breaks. I knew from the moment you walked into my life that I would do whatever it took to keep you by my side. to see your cheeky grin.
I remember thinking how much I hated beards, but god damn did you look amazing in yours. I never wanted to see you without it, and to this day I haven’t.
We started seeing each other frequently, and every time I saw you, my whole body caught fire. Touching you ignited a flame in me, it was electric, and i still feel it every time you touch me. Even to this day. While it may no longer be a intense burning, it is a warm welcome fuzzy feeling i like to call home.
I remember feeling like a little school girl, with a crush, we went to the zoo I still remember the wild dog toy you bought me as a gift. the photos of that day still hang on our walls. Such a happy memory.
we shared so much in common, music, games, passions, drive, a want for children, and so much more, you really were instantly the half of me I had been missing my entire life. It was like a melding of minds that just made sense, and I know you felt that too as we spoke so often about how we just instantly connected.
It took two weeks for me to finally build up the courage to ask what it was we had become. I remember clearly i was at Lachlan’s house and they were all asking me about this mysterious boy and what you were to me. I remember yearning for you to say that i was your girlfriend, but I didn’t  want to get my hopes up for the fear that you weren’t ready to label us.
Much to my delighted surprise, you wanted to be mine! my heart could have burst I was so happy. YOU, You wanted to be with ME!
the days where we didn’t see each other, they grew shorter and shorter. I remember cooking for you and your family, and them cooking for me. Home life for me then was not the best, with a new step dad being imported from another country and all the concern that brought. Your home life wasn’t that fair either at the time. but I remember admiring how dedicated you were to your family, supporting them through a decision like moving states and keeping them afloat.
It came a time where the Flemington house would be no more, what were you going to do?? where would you stay? would I move in? and sure enough, myself and my two dogs moved into a crummy little 2 bedroom house with a pink shower bath and wooden floors.
It was by no means our flashiest moment of living, but it was ours. Okay Sean lived there too, and yes that presented its own set of challenges. But we wanted to help! and we did for so long.
I remember you getting so drunk you threw up all over our bedroom floor, and on the day we had an electrician coming. I remember being so mad, but now I look back on it and smile, it isn’t a bad memory. You flooded our floor and were so sick. I cared for you that day, feeding you and cleaning you up. Because I love you and that is just what you do.
I remember when it all got too much, and what a strain that put on us. but we talked it through and came out better.
I remember when everything fell apart between your Aunty and your Mum, and that the family that said they would always have your back, suddenly abandoned you without work. I wasn’t earning the best wage then, but we made it work. whatever we had to do to make ends meet and to support each other.
You started working with my dad, I still have fond memories of that, he got to know you so well and you him. You built a bond so strong, he would do anything to help you out.
We stuck that out for a while, us and our little family.
I remember in December of 2016, you had been driving around that cursed Mitsubishi with all it’s huntsmans and you hated it. I remember you looking at the most disgusting green wagon I had ever seen, but you loved it. oh the petty bickering we did about that colour. Yet somehow I still look back on those little sessions and I smile, we had differing opinions but we never let them be a focus we just made it witty little banter, that was uniquely ours. Like your love of the E30, which I will never understand.
No actually I do, you love the engineering genius, you love that they are aerodynamic, you love that they are quick and punchy and they are able to be used for lots of things, you love the way they drive and you hate that you sold the one you had. You think they are comfortable and classic and beautiful to drive and I know your dream is to purchase another and to work on it. I know I said that I wouldn’t let you get one, but really I probably could be persuaded.
Anyway off track, you wanted that wagon so much. I remember how much I wanted to make you happy. I wanted to give you the world on a silver platter, I still do. You said to me that this was your dream car, you had always wanted one, so one day on a whim we went to a dealer and we spoke to them about it. we took it for a test drive and I remember the look on your face, how excited you were, like a kid in a candy store. I wanted so bad for you to feel that every time you drove it. so we bought it. We made it work, was it a rash decision? probably, did it bring us joy and memories, bloody oath it did. So it was worth it. Every penny, every complex issue, it was worth every smile it gave you.
Moving in with my mum to try and save was probably one of the worst decisions we made. But it allowed us to get in front, a little. I remember not caring that we only had a little bedroom to live in, if we could use this to build what was ours, it would be worth it.
I remember you coming to me and not wanting to work for Greg anymore, we decided that if that was going to be the case we would find something you wanted to do. We obtained your mutual recognition as an electrician and you got a job doing your trade! how exciting! but not for very long. I remember wanting to murder the man who bullied you. How fiercely protective of what was mine, and so angered that it had resulted in you being left without work again.
But you are smart and resilient, you picked yourself up, you dusted yourself off and we started the hunt for work again. You make yourself useful to every employee and you work hard! I admire that in you, you are such a hard worker, and you want to ensure that you are pleasing everyone. One of the many things that I love about you.
We lost a dog, it was hard... and I know what we are going through now brings back memories of this. I remember being so stressed, but you were my pillar and I hope that I was yours. we got through it unscathed. It was time consuming, yes, but in the end, we came out on top.
It then came the day we were moving out of that wretched house, away from the woman who gave us so much grief. Boy could we not be happier that day had come.
Our new town house, all our own, no eyes, no family, just me and you! finally! we needed that I felt. While we may have bickered, I always ensured you knew how much I loved you at the end of every day. That love is never ending, and I know sometimes you felt like it wasn’t.
Then I got sick, we couldn’t figure it out, and I was sick for a long time. You supported me, cared for me, and made me whole. I got better after a trip to the hospital and my love for you just continued to flourish and grow.
The time came where we needed to heal our hearts and welcome a new member to our family. You didn’t want another Siberian like I did, you wanted something cool, something different.
We had stumbled across the Swedish Vallhund in our search years before when we were living in our little two bedroom home. You loved the look and sound of them and I loved that they would have the same energy as Evee who so desperately needed a friend.
We made it happen, signed the contract and I went to go visit them, you drove 3 hours to come and pick me up from Bendigo. My god I love you.
Months later, a little baby girl was made available to us, she was a dream come true, so adorable and cuddly, and perfectly ours. She brought us so many laughs and smiles, something to talk about outside of our daily lives.
I got lost in showing her, I wanted to do it every weekend! now I reflect on it, it was not only about going out and doing something and it being a passion of mine. It was about spending time with you, the love of my life and our dogs. It meant that we weren’t spending every weekend in our house, but out seeing new places, meeting new people. We could talk about new experiences.
I wanted to do things with you, for you to be involved and it seemed to be good at the beginning, but I know I over killed the ambition. I’m Sorry.
We welcomed another into our home 6 months later, although it was meant to be temporary, that goofy little boy, you loved him so much.
I remember the time you came into the kitchen and you told me that I needed to get my licence, that you couldn’t keep being the only driver in the house and it was taking a toll on you. I remember trying to defend myself like I always do, and I am not making excuses, but I was raised a defensive kid. I was so anxious, but the more I thought about it. The more I knew that I needed to do this, for you! I couldn’t let you feel miserable being the only one driving and able to freely move around.
I thought about what you said long and hard and we began learning, I remember when you first took me out on the road in the wagon. You took me into the back streets of an industrial estate. I sat in the drivers seat for the first time since I was 18. I cried, boy did I cry, I had a full blown anxiety attack, but you held me until I calmed down, you were so patient with me and my heart flew. We drove around that estate for what felt like forever.
You were patient and kind and reassured me I was doing a good job. But that car made me anxious, all that power, even if it wasn't that bad, I needed a car I would feel safe in. So on the hunt we went. We looked at so many cars, cheap ones, expensive ones, not so expensive ones. We looked together, we test drove so many.
Finally we bought my car, while it was more than we wanted to spend, it was what made sense. Because it would make you happy and I could drive it and get my licence and you could be a passenger and we could sing together to our favourite music in there.
I drove and I drove and I drove with you in those back streets, trying to learn how to park, becoming more confident.
I remember the first time I drove home, you were so proud of me. I remember being so happy that I had made you proud and that I wanted to do this more so that you could continue seeing I was trying to make an effort.
We welcomed a litter of puppies into the world, squeaky squarky little balls of beautiful fluff.
We spoke many times over the years about buying or building, looking at houses, looking at land, looking at plans and hopes and dreams. Our vision changed a few times, with many discussions. We settled on maybe looking into acreage, a beautiful block. I’m sorry if that wasn’t what you wanted, I thought we had discussed it and agreed.
I wanted the acreage not only so I could pursue my dreams, but you would be able to pursue yours too. You had spoken may times about wanting the E30, and a few other cars you could tinker with and rally around. Much to my worry, the thought of losing you to a car accident makes my heart stop.
I know that the start of this year has been less than ideal, paying two lots of rent, being behind on things and now the dogs in their situation. I know that this puts a real strain on us financially, but we don’t have to do it on our own. Our family and friends are there to help support us. My dad would do anything to ensure that we are looked after, Ayla has offered her support, and I am sure your family wouldn’t let us go homeless either.
I know that it is hard, because there is no one to blame, and it has put stress on us and we both haven’t been treating each other fairly. For that I apologise, I have been trying so hard not to let what is happening effect how I respond. To make sure I still check in with you and ask you how you are doing and make sure you know I am here to lean on, we could concur anything!
I know you hate that I never just shut up and let you vent about work without psychoanalysing everything and giving you my thoughts. I try so hard to resist the urge, but it doesn’t come from a place of being right or wrong, it is because I want you to see the positives in situations and not focus on the things that are dragging you down, because everyone has their own stuff happening. It is my way of trying to support you. I hope you know that, and every time I see you make progress or rationalise something that maybe before you would have clung to, I beam, I get so proud of you for being the better person in those situations.
I know I can be better, and I try to every day. When I say no, I usually say no because I am thinking about you, and us, and the life we want to build together. To make sure we aren’t making stupid decisions, but that is part of growing and learning. We make dumb decisions and then we work our way through them.
I promise, if you come home, and you want to sell the wagon. We will do it! we will work out what that is going to look like and we will go through with it if it is what you want. If you want to move out of Geelong, we will look for something else. If you want to go back to buying something pre-existing okay lets go. If you want to buy a standard block and live in it for the next 10 years, okay. All I want is to be where you are and I don’t care what that looks like.
If you never want to move again and you want to rent here for the rest of our lives. Okay, if you want to save slowly and take our time to find our what is right for us, there is no pressure for us to leave here.
I love that you listen and you want to please me, but I also want to please you. Let me listen to you, let me go along with what you want.
If you want to move back to Adelaide, I will follow you, I would follow you to the ends of the earth if that is what would make you happy because every action I take, every decision we make, we do it thinking about our future.
I was laying in bed the other day, after Cathryn’s wedding, thinking about how beautiful you looked. How much I loved seeing you all dressed up in that suit, how much I loved you. I began looking at wedding rings, and thinking that, well I could propose to you.
I started thinking about where I could do it, what were our favourite spots. I didn’t even care that you had been smoking, in truth, it actually made you sexier, don’t ask me how, because you know how much I hate the smell and the taste. Not to mention how may little tiffs we had over it, me trying to understand. But you were just unapologetically you, in all your glory and I didn’t think my heart could be any more full in that moment because I had you.
I know I put restrictions on recreational drug use, but I never wanted to stop you in full. I just wanted you to be safe, and not have an issue later in life which may be tied to the use. Those actions always came from a place of love, a place that wanted to keep you safe. For whatever reason you hadn’t been doing it much lately anyway, which I found surprising. But had you, it wouldn’t have mattered because you are the most important thing in my life.
You left, and I have no closure, I dont know if you are coming back, but by god I would move heaven and earth to bring you home. I keep going over things in my head, what did I do? can I make it better? was it me? was it money? did I gain too much weight? did I not ask what you wanted to do enough? I have so many questions unanswered.
You need space, and I understand this and I am sorry I did not check in more.
I miss you more than words can express, I feel like my other half of me is missing and I don’t know how to find it. I am torn in two not knowing if there is anything I can do to make this all seem like a blip in our road.
Maybe we need time away, from this house, from the stress. at a little cabin or our tent, in the woods or on the beach where it is just us. No one else, no technology, just rediscovery and the comfort of each others presence.
I honestly cannot express how much you and this relationship mean to me. I don’t care about physical things, I don’t need you to buy me gifts for my birthday or special occasions. I just need you, I’m not hard to please. Being with you has been the easiest thing I have done in my life, because it just made sense.
I will be yours, always and forever.

Miss Fisher Australia Tour (30)
Melbourne Cup was referenced in S1E6 Ruddy Gore. After Walter Copland died, it was discovered that the beneficiary of his will was his dresser Hansen. Jack thought that it could be his motive for murder, but Phryne was not convinced, “Inheriting an actor’s estate is not exactly winning the Melbourne Cup.” According to topendsports.com, the Melbourne Cup first-place prize is around 9,000 pounds in 1928/29. I had trouble converting it to the value today but estimated it to be around $130,000, which was indeed quite substantial.
The Melbourne Cup race was inaugurated in 1861 and has evolved into weeklong Spring Carnivals that include 4 major races – Victoria Derby Day, Melbourne Cup Day, Crown Oaks Day, and Emirates Stakes Day. The Melbourne Cup Day (first Tuesday in November) is now a public holiday for all working within metropolitan Melbourne and some regions of Victoria. Whether getting the day off or not, many watch the race on TV and place bets. According to Wikipedia, in 2000, a betting agency claimed that 80 percent of the adult Australian population placed a bet on the race that year, an astounding statistic.
For non-gamblers, there are other festivities off the track. Like at the Kentucky Derby in the U.S., many attendees would dress up for the event. Women wear elegant, elaborate hats or fascinators, hoping to win the “Fashion On the Field” prizes. If you are an avid gardener like Nathan Page (and Jack in the book series), you may be interested to learn that flowers, especially roses, are an important component. Each of the 4 major race days mentioned above has an official flower – Corn Flower, Yellow Rose, Pink Rose, and Red Rose.
The Flemington Racecourse is only about 5 km (3 miles) from Melbourne Central Business District and can be easily accessed by train or bus. Since I am not a horse race fan, and no filming of the show actually took place here, unless my visit happens to fall during that week, I probably won’t be paying the venue a visit. However, researching the event and the venue has been rather fun.

4th Sunday, Year C. 3rd February, A.D. 2019, St Dominic’s, Flemington
Saint Luke in his Gospel records various reactions to Our Lord’s appearance in the synagogue of Nazareth, His home-town. At first, some were pleased and impressed by His eloquence; but others were jealous of the miracles He had done for others and not done for them, His own folk, in His own village. Already the mystery of the Lord’s Cross begins to appear – opposition and anger and outright denial of His claims.
By the grace of God, we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Every Sunday we hear something of what Jesus said and did – and we do not doubt its accuracy. Sometimes a saying or parable may be hard to understand, or hard to follow, but we do not doubt that the Lord said it, and that there is a message for us. It is good to be reminded of how well-founded is the teaching enshrined in the Four Gospels. They are documents inspired by the Holy Spirit – containing the Word of God, a major part – the most important part – of the Holy Bible. But to bolster our faith, it is good to know that even as ordinary historical documents, they are trustworthy historical accounts.
The following is based on “Apologetics” by Archbishop M. Sheehan, chapter 5:
A work must be accepted as historical, or, in other words, as a faithful narrative of past events: (1) if it is genuine, that is, if it is the work of the one said to be the author; (2) if its author is trustworthy, which means he was well-informed and truthful; (3) if it is intact, if the text is as the author wrote it – not changed or mutilated. – All these conditions are fulfilled in the case of the New Testament writings.
When were the Gospels written? I am sure some people would say, “Hundreds of years after Christ – that’s why they contain exaggerations and made-up stories.” False! The first three Gospels were written within the lifetime of those who had seen and known Christ. As we know, the Gospels were authored by Saints Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They were placed in that order from the first centuries, because that was the order of their writing. St Matthew probably wrote first; St Mark probably wrote between 50 and 60 A.D.; St Luke, some time before the year 60. As Our Lord died about the year 33 A.D., these three Gospels were written when everyone remembered what had happened. The Evangelists could not have fabricated stories and sayings, even if they wanted to. St John’s Gospel, written last, supplements the accounts of the other three, reporting speeches and miracles not mentioned by the others.
Were the authors well-informed? They show their complete familiarity with the religion and customs of the Jewish people. They were contemporaries, or in close touch with contemporaries, of the events they narrate: Modern scholarship has failed to detect any error on the part of the Evangelists in the countless references to geography and to the political, social, and religious conditions of Palestine at the time of Christ. Archaeological discoveries in the 20th century have all confirmed the truth of the Gospel accounts.
They knew the facts: Matthew and John had been companions of Christ for three years. Mark and Luke had lived in constant contact with His contemporaries. The vividness and detail of the narrative can only spring from personal contact with the events recorded.
So, they could have written a truthful account – but did they?
Were the Four Evangelists trustworthy? The answer is Yes: because they knew the facts and truthfully recorded them. They were honest people:
- Their holy lives, and their sufferings in witnessing to the truths set forth in their Gospels guarantee their sincerity.
- They had nothing to gain but everything to lose by testifying to the sanctity and the Divinity of Christ.
- They could not have been untruthful, even if they wanted to: they wrote for contemporaries of the events they narrate, or for people who had known those contemporaries, and could not have got away with a false account.
- They could not have invented their portrait of Christ. His unique character so noble, so lovable, so inspiring, so original, is quite beyond the inventive capacity of such men. The Evangelists Matthew, Mark and John, like every Jew of their day, believed that the Messiah would come to restore the kingdom of David. Not one of them ever dreamt, before Christ’s appearance, that He would come to found a spiritual kingdom, to preach meekness, humility, and brotherly love, and to live a life of poverty and persecution, culminating in the agony of the Cross.
But did anyone tamper with the texts of the Gospels? Are they the same as they were written? As soon as they were written, the Gospels were spread by the Apostles and missionaries all over the Roman Empire & beyond, to the newly founded Christian communities. Within a few decades the Gospels were all over the Greek-speaking world. From the earliest times, the Gospels were read at Sunday Mass. It would have been impossible to change the text – because there were copies of the Gospels everywhere, and translations too. Today, when we compare all the surviving ancient manuscripts, we see the differences between them are tiny. There are copying mistakes; but substantially, the text of all four Gospels is the same.
The Gospels pass the tests of authenticity and reliability far beyond all other ancient literature. Writers such as Plato and Aristotle, Julius Caesar and Cicero, were popular and often copied and spread around – but nowhere near the number of copies made of the Gospels. The Four Gospels were – and are – the most quoted, most copied, most read and most diffused of all literature of ancient times. Whoever would dismiss the New Testament must logically reject all written sources of ancient history and literature.
But did Christ really perform all those miracles? The Lord’s miracles cannot be explained away. They were performed in public, before friends and enemies. The miracles of Christ were so frequent, the witnesses so numerous, and the evidence so stark, that not even Christ’s enemies disputed the fact of their occurrence. Instead, they ascribed them to the power of the devil, or defied Him to perform another one in His own favour. Many of both the beneficiaries and the eye-witnesses of Christ’s miracles were alive for decades after the miracles themselves, and stood as living proofs and witnesses to their occurrence. Following Lazarus’ raising from the dead, for example, there would have been people alive for decades afterwards, who attended his burial and saw him emerge alive from the tomb, long after his well-attended first funeral. Some of them might have gone to his second funeral!
Faith is a gift from God. We believe because we have received this gift. At the same time, faith is reasonable, and never contrary to reason. Our religion is God-given but is also about a historical reality, attested to by honest and reliable eye-witnesses: the life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Let us rejoice in the authenticity of our religion and its sources; let us thank God for showing us how well-founded is our faith. Thanks be to God for putting us in touch with this historical reality, giving us a true hope in this life, and the assurance of a heavenly destiny. 

Air Duct & Dryer Vent Cleaning Flemington

Flemington, NJ 08822

Website: www.bestcleaning4u.com
 Hours: 24 hours
Payment Method: Cash, all cc
Description:
The National Fire Data Center, which is part of the U.S. Fire Administration, reports that clothes dryers cause approximately 15,600 structure fires all over the country every year. Clogged dryer vents are responsible for starting eighty percent or so of the fires, resulting in an average of 400 injuries and 15 deaths every year. Thousands more house occupants get treated for poisonous gas fume symptoms that accumulate in houses due to dryer vents being blocked.
Yes, it is a good idea to clean your dryer’s lint trap. However, by itself it won’t completely prevent fires from breaking out inside your dryer vent. In order for your dryer to stay safe and efficient, replace any of the plastic flexible or vinyl transition ducts that are in between the main vent (these are frequently inside a wall) and the dryer, using a metal semi-rigid transition duct instead. Vinyl and plastic ducts may catch on fire, whereas semi-rigid metal ducts won’t. Also be sure to keep the dryer vent pipe opening outside free of bushes, birds’ nests and any other debris that can accumulate over the long term.
Whenever your dry vent system isn’t able to properly exhaust, it will over heat. This can threaten your safety, health and home. It is possible to clean the dryer vent system on your own. However, if you would like to have some expert advice or don’t know how to do it, you can contact a professional dryer vent cleaning company like ours to inspect and clean your system to ensure that it is safe. The professional can also answer any questions you might have.

Why Use Property Management Services Rather Than a Keeper?
Although 80 per cent of property owners use a keeper, many are still unaware of the Property Management Moonee Ponds services a real estate agent should provide.
Whether you're new to the game and just bought your first investment property, or you're a seasoned investor with numerous properties in your portfolio, there's likely still more you can learn to help you maximise your profits.
Managing your property effectively is a difficult chore, especially if you have a large number of assets in several places. The most efficient method is to employ a property management firm that can assist you in a variety of ways. Investors can choose from a variety of Property Management Strathmore provided by management organisations.
The truth is that most landlords will face this issue at some point. They find that monitoring all of their tenants, whether they are managing many long-term rentals or especially short-term rentals, may rapidly become too much of a nuisance. They simply don't have enough time in the day (or enough hair on their heads) to put up with it any longer, no matter how profitable the property is.
At this point, you may be wondering: do I need to hire a property manager? The following are some of the advantages of hiring a property manager:
Property upkeep that is devoid of stress.
Blocked toilets, broken water heaters, and malfunctioning cooktops are all frequent problems that can happen at any time. Having a Property Management Flemington service expert means you won't have to deal with the problem directly, and their network of trades and suppliers means the problem may be resolved without you having to get estimates and communicate with the renter. This means that not only may the problem be handled fast, but you also won't have to worry about it. It is unquestionably advantageous to have important partnerships in place to quickly handle any concerns.
Build a buffer between landlords and tenants.
A Property Manager is well-versed in having difficult conversations. If your renter is late on rent, you won't have to deal with them directly; instead, your Property Manager will be able to handle the problem and ensure that the appropriate steps are done. Experienced Property Management Pascoe Vale work to ensure that they manage your investment effectively, drawing on their extensive industry knowledge and local understanding to help you achieve better outcomes.

Recognizing the tenant's and landlord's rights.
A skilled Property Manager is also aware of both the tenant and the landlord's rights. Navigating the Residential Tenancies Act can be complicated, and your Property Manager will be familiar with the ins and outs of rules. When problems develop, it is critical to have a thorough awareness of the rules and regulations.
Of course, how engaged you want to be as a landlord will determine this, but with professional Property Management Essendon, your investment property should not demand much time, thought, or effort. As a result, you can concentrate on other vital duties while knowing that your house will be in excellent condition.
