Look at him!!! THIS IS MY BOY!!!!! I am a PROUD Centralian and I would be DAMNED if I didn't draw him with animals. You would be surprised at how many of these I have actually seen or heard about being near by.
(Also yes that is a Gator, we don't natively have them but there was one here for like 2 weeks, still surprised he was in central and not the swamps down south because...actually I feel like that's obvious)

Not sure if this theory makes any sense at all but I'm starting to believe that there's no time skip between Wally's phone calls and what we see/hear in the show's Media/Merchandise. If we see the Toyland call being made before the Homewarming episode then it would make sense that Wally's expecting Barnaby to come over soon. As well as the Homewarming sketch from the prior update. (I don't know, still kind of brainstorming this perspective)
that theory Does make sense and i've been considering it! the "timeline" is such a nebulous thing right now because we still... don't really know! there are too many variables and too many Maybes for any solid answer.
maybe the reality that the neighbors live in exists outside of time like you say, and like half of me suspects. there's so much reality fuckery already present, but I'm also... unsure of how much merit this holds given what we know / can infer about how time passes in Home. i'm putting this theory on a low shelf to look at but not prioritize
maybe it really has been 50 years, and Barnaby is either still around / Wally is still in contact with him, or Barnaby... isn't there. who knows, maybe Wally was just verbalizing some Wishful Thinking. i mean, Wally is a bit of an unreliable narrator, isn't he? we can't assume that everything he says is entirely accurate or truthful. and i mean, if it's been 50 years it makes sense that Wally would be pushing for connection / to revive WH. who knows how long he's been trying.
hm... i mean. it could be a mix of that and the Outside Of Time theory. who knows, maybe W is receiving calls from different points in the timeline - Wally may have started out just calling, and has just graduated to invading the WH website / getting pushy with the envelopes and media that's been sent to the WHRP. maybe Wally got tired of waiting for W to respond before W was even born. who's to say!

Animal rescue workers: I dont get why no one will adopt these pets?? They're so sweet and good! We know people like them, they always get so many comments and likes. We socialized them, gave them shots and made the adoption process as easy as we could!
Every landlord in the province: If you even THINK about having pets you can't apply sorry :( :( We're just sooooo allergic (to the imagined property damage that, sure, a kid could do just as easily but you can't ban kids lol) and we just can't take the risk, sorry!! :( :( :( any pet would annihilate all life in the building we swear! so legally we get to say no pets upfront even though otherwise it would be illegal lolololol *service pets included

they come and preach to us about 'argentina is white' 'argentina is racist' and don't look at their own history & present. we know better than anyone about how strong racism is here!! those affected by it live through it every day, you can easily see it in your day to day life and we learn about most of the genocides at school. we have the biggest jewish community in Latin America, a big muslim community, many people of different native tribes, afroargentines, etc. all of this data is easy to find with a quick research. you're not fucking helping by reproducing white supremacists discourse. who do you think benefits from the 'white argentina' idea?

Ok so I looked for Lord of the Rings to see if there were any major non-white chracters. There are not, it seems. However, I did find this one video that poses as being super fucking woke whilst actually just being incredibly racist and I thought you'd all like to see it.
Now, you might notice that it says all the words spoken by a person of colour in the movie. That tells me they mean the characters and not the actors. Now, in terms of race in Lord of the Rings, they're right, race in Lord of the Rings is moreso surrounding the differences between humans, orcs, hobbits etc; unfortunately this video's premise is built on real-world ethics so I'm gonna have to rule it by that, also they said "person of colour", again forwarding that same idea.
So the video that's like "wow, only less than a minute of non-white characters speaking? That's so racist." Actually said "The Orcs are clearly POC." If you can't tell, that's really fucking racist.
---------------------------------------------------
To circle back, I will say it's not exactly great that, in the movies, there aren't any notable non-white characters. Frankly it does feel very strange to me that there are literally none (Shagrat doesn't count because he's not human, already covered) however it is worth noting that I'm not as into LotR as many others are, I haven't even read the books. For all I know there could be some that got cut from the movies that were in the books. In the movies they could have swapped the races of people and I'd have been none the wiser. The best way to see it, JRR Tolkien does have accounts of racism and his work will probably reflect that to some degree, authorial intent is important after all, however have you thought for a minute that how you see it as a viewer probably says more?

Aaaahh I have a question about an INCREDIBLY obscure piece of media related to the thing I’m obsessed with atm (not Gorillaz, believe it or not!) and I’m beginning to think I might have to resort to drastic measures--taking a shot in the dark on Reddit--but I’m...kind of nervous? I’ve never used Reddit before beyond the occasional lurking when I need a very specific answer only a Redditor could provide. I know it’s silly, but every time I try to use a new social media platform I get this weird social anxiety. Like I’m walking into a party where I don’t know anyone, heh

I'm watching this video, and I just saw a really good observation that went:
'People go to (x radical community) to get upset. Every emotion is converted into anger.. because sadness, fear, and despair are paralyzing, but anger is motivating! Whatever someone's problems are, there's always someone they can scapegoat for them, a person feels less helpless when they're pissed off. And while that person is hopping up on reassuring nonsense, they're also topping up on stress. And since they're cut off from the people they used to associate with, which happened because of their radicalization, the only place they can go to release that stress is back to the place that gives this stress to him.
It's a feedback loop
