Repost from our home spot!! @plasticfreenorthdevon hosted a mahoosive Saunton beach clean. This is one of our ab fave spots that showcases super long, glidy, dreamy and epic waves! ・・・ We are absolutely blown away by the 340 people that attended our community beach clean today - it’s the biggest turnout we have ever seen and representative of how much our region cares about tackling the plastic pollution crisis whichever way they can. THANKYOU so much, we are very proud to be part of such a growing committed community 🙌💚 Between us we cleared over 30 bags of rubbish, recycled over 30 plastic bottles and sifted thousands of micro plastics thanks to @nurdlecoasts and their machines. Thanks to John breeds and his trusty Land Rover we were also able to get all the way to the end of the bay- he filled up his Land Rover up twice! Find of the day goes to a young boy called Hayden who found a 1992 Barcelona Olympic lighter!! 27 years old and you could still just about still read the writing!!! Very Special thanks to 15 year old Hatty and her family who helped us out today - she is volunteering with us as part of her @dukeofedinburgh_award and a total inspiration. Thanks to everyone that donated left over Christmas sweet treats and baked cakes and @sauntonbreakcafe For supplying emergency hot chocolate and lots of other treats. They all went down an very very well :) And lastly this wouldn’t be possible without the continual support from @sauntonbeachvillas Who provide the free parking and lots of the hot drinks supplies. yesterday, the boys came back from two separate trips around the uk 🚌 alan went south (literally, not metaphorically!) he literally went right down to st agnes in cornwall, to pick up an #inflatableamnesty haul from long time supporters and collection point @surfersagainstsewage 🙌 then he went to @escape.surf.school in newquay and picked up loads of salvaged leashes (more on that very soon....) then he made his way to north devon and met up with the lovely phil of @plasticfreenorthdevon who handed over their end of season mountain 🏔 of ex- inflatables... AMAZING 💫 rich, went to london and picked up a previous inflatable art installation, from the great folks at @camdenartscentre who rang us as soon as the exhibition was finished, in order to swerve it from landfill (more on that later too...) lottie organised all the logistics and itineraries ✅ THIS is all of it, straight out of the back of the vans (@steve_wyattandjack ‘s foots in the corner for scale... ) thats approximately 8 tonnes salvaged from landfill!! when youre waiting patiently for your orders (THANKYOU for being so patient) THIS is what youre supporting- we dont show this side enough, but we will start to more, so you can see where your bag comes from and what youve helped to save from landfill ♻️we couldnt do it without you 💪 #team https://www.instagram.com/p/B3cvIs_Fb9A/?igshid=1am2l95kwfu6h

#dryrobeterritory post by @cal_major - ☺️Home Turf☺️ Last night I paddled across Bideford Bay from Hartland Quay to Croyde beach! This has been a section I’ve been nervous about since setting off from Lands End. The tidal race around Hartland spun me along at 8 mph, and I knelt through the falls (standing waves running around the headland) with no option but to let it take me where it wanted to. I was joined by the incredibly knowledgeable Glyn Brackenbury, and having a pal on the water who has paddled this bay a hundred times made it enjoyable and really fun rather than terrifying! . An incredible evening’s paddle, calm seas, gentle headwind and the most spectacular sunset! I came off the water buzzing and so grateful for 5 hours of peaceful, fun paddling marvelling at the water and the thrill of being so far out to sea! . Lovely beach clean today at Croyde with @plasticfreenorthdevon , kindly sponsored by the wonderful @dryrobe who are a North Devon based company with a love for the environment and helping the local community! . Setting off again this afternoon, another beauty of a day!
