NEW YORK (AP) — He’s driven a taxi cab, played in a band and protested the Vietnam War. As a New York City judge, Arthur Engoron has resolved hundreds of disputes, deciding everything from zoning and free speech issues to a custody fight over a dog named “Stevie.”Now, in the twilight of a distinguished two-decade career on the bench, the erudite, Ivy League-educated judge is presiding over his biggest case yet: deciding the future of former President Donald Trump's real estate empire.Last week, Engoron ruled that Trump committed years of fraud by exaggerating his wealth and the value of assets on financial statements he used to get loans and make deals. As punishment, the judge said he would dissolve some of Trump's companies — a decision that could cause him to lose control of marquee New York properties, like Trump Tower.Starting Monday, Engoron will preside over a non-jury trial in Manhattan to resolve remaining claims in New York Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit against Trump, his company and top executives. He will also decide on monetary damages. James' office is seeking $250 million.Trump, who is listed as a potential witness and could end up face-to-face with Engoron in court, called the judge's fraud ruling “the corporate death penalty.” He referred to Engoron as a “political hack" and said his would appeal.“I have a Deranged, Trump Hating Judge, who RAILROADED this FAKE CASE through a NYS Court at a speed never before seen,” the 2024 Republican frontrunner wrote on his Truth Social platform.Through a court spokesperson, Engoron has declined to comment on Trump's barbs. He is barred from commenting to the news media about the case.Trump typically hasn't gone to court in the many cases involving his company. He was absent from a criminal trial in which the Trump Organization and one of its top executives was convicted of tax evasion and skipped a civil trial in which he was found responsible for sexually assaulting the writer E. Jean Carroll. But asked Friday if he planned to be at the New York trial, Trump said: “I may. I may.”Engoron, a Democrat, has ruled repeatedly against Trump in the three years he's been presiding over James' lawsuit. He's forced Trump to sit for a deposition, held him in contempt and fined him $110,000.Now, Engoron is poised to permanently disrupt the collection of skyscrapers, golf courses and other properties that vaulted Trump to fame and the White House. At a hearing in the case last Wednesday, the day after his ruling, Engoron offered “a little bit of New York humor" to break the tension. He repeated an oft-told story about a judge who ended up agreeing with everyone who spoke in his courtroom.Engoron, a fan of puns and pop culture references, routinely turns to humor — even in the gravest of hearings and decisions.“We certainly can use it today,” Trump lawyer Christopher Kise said.Engoron, a few years younger than Trump at 74, spent his early years in Queens, about 3.8 miles (6 kilometers) east of the former president's childhood home.Engoron's family later moved to East Williston on Long Island, where he ran track and wrote for the student newspaper at The Wheatley School, a public high school in Old Westbury, New York, and graduated in 1967.A proud alum, Engoron is the founder and director of the school’s alumni association and writes an online newsletter with news about fellow graduates who’ve nicknamed him the “Mayor of Wheatley.” He even posted a link last year to an article about his involvement in the Trump case.At the end of one newsletter, he posted a quippy call to action: “Please send me your autobiography before someone else sends me your obituary.”Engoron first made headlines in 1964, when he and three friends won the grand prize in a “Banner Day” contest where the New York Mets, then just two years into their existence, invited fans to parade across the field carrying banners painted with creative messages about the team.In an early sign of Engoron's irreverence, the
message was a take off on a popular political quote from the era: “Extremism In Defense Of The Mets Is No Vice.” Engoron was just 15 at the time. While attending Columbia University in the 1960s, Engoron drove a taxi — a fact he revealed a decade ago while ruling against then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg's plan to expand yellow cab service outside New York City. A state appeals court later reversed that decision.Engoron's rulings are rife with biographical information, part full-disclosure, part nostalgia. He revealed in one decision that he participated in “huge, sometimes boisterous, Vietnam War protests.” He’s also described himself as a free-speech absolutist and said he's been a member of the American Civil Liberties Union since 1994.Engoron got his law degree from New York University in 1979. He's worked as a litigator and was a law clerk for 11 years for a judge in the same court where he now sits. Engoron also taught piano and drums and played keyboard in what he describes as a “moderately successful” bar band. He's been married three times and has four children, according to his Wheatley alumni page biography.Engoron joined the bench in 2003 as a judge on the New York City Civil Court, which handles small claims and other lesser-stakes lawsuits. In 2013, he was appointed an acting justice of the state’s trial court and ran unopposed for a permanent post in 2015. His term runs until 2029, though New York requires judges at his level retire when they turn 76.A former law clerk, Michelle Bernstein Ravenscroft, said she remembered Engoron being “kind and approachable and that he was very invested in making sure his clerks had a good learning experience with him.”Engoron frequently peppers his rulings with song lyrics, movie quotes and the occasional New York City history lesson. He's quoted Bob Dylan and Shakespeare and movies like “City Slickers” and the Marx Brothers classic “Duck Soup.” He signs them with a logo of sorts, his initials, AE, drawn together in a circle. In 2017, Engoron turned to the Frank Sinatra hit “Love and Marriage” which, the song notes, “go together like a horse and carriage” for a ruling restricting protests on horse-drawn carriages in Central Park. He punily titled a subsection “Balancing of the Equines, er, Equities.”In a 2015 ruling on the custody of “Stevie” — a female, mixed-breed, part Basenji — Engoron offered a philosophical discussion of the rights of animals — or lack thereof — while reversing his previous ruling that sought to do what was in the pet’s best interest.“Conferring rights on animals would create the ultimate slippery slope,” he said, reasoning that “if dogs were deemed to have rights, why not cats, raccoons, squirrels, fish, ants, cockroaches? Could you be imprisoned for swatting a fly? Where will it all end?”In another ruling, Engoron said New York’s review process for new housing “seems like Rube Goldberg, Franz Kafka, and the Marquis de Sade cooked it up over martinis.”Engoron has been involved in Trump-related cases since 2020, when he was assigned to intervene in quarrels among Trump’s lawyers and James’ office over demands for evidence and the direction of her investigation.Trump’s lawyers wanted James’ lawsuit moved to a judge in the court’s Commercial Division, which is set up to handle complex corporate litigation, but an administrative judge kept the case with Engoron, citing his experience with the matter.Back in the courtroom last Wednesday, as Trump's lawyers reached rare consensus with James' office on procedural issues, Engoron dispatched with one last quip.“I knew this case would be a love fest," he said.___Follow Sisak at x.com/mikesisak and send confidential tips by visiting https://www.ap.org/tips

New York City: Cop killer Jalil Abdul Muntaqim to be released from prison prior to elections
To add insult to injury, the cop-killer was granted release on the anniversary of the 9/11 jihad attacks in NYC. Muntaqim is/was a member of the NAACP, Black Panther Party and it’s armed militant wing, the Black Liberation Army.
It’s not clear what groups the Musilm is now a member of, however Muslim groups and mosques have been fighting the “Sheikh” Jalil Abdul Muntaqim’s release for years.

Killer of 2 NYPD officers, one from LI, to be released from prison
Cop-killer Anthony Bottom, the last of three Black Liberation Army members still in prison for the 1971 murder of two NYPD officers in Harlem, is slated for parole next month, possibly sooner, despite the pleas of the PBA and the Long Island widow of one of the slain officers.
Bottom, 68, now known as Jalil Abdul Muntaqim, appeared before the state Board of Parole on Sept. 11, and was granted an open date of release of Oct. 20 — or earlier.
Authorities said Bottom, Herman Bell and Albert (Nuh) Washington ambushed NYPD officers Joseph Piagentini and Waverly Jones in the Colonial Park Houses — now the Rangel Houses — in Harlem on May 21, 1971. The PBA, in a statement Wednesday, said that although Jones died instantly, Piagentini pleaded for his life, "invoking his wife and two daughters," only to have Bell empty "two guns into the already seriously wounded officer."
Piagentini died en route to the hospital.
In a statement released Wednesday, Piagentini's widow, Diane Piagentini, of Deer Park, said: "We are heartbroken to see another of Joe's killers set free by politics. But more than anything else, we are angry."

Bottom, Bell and Washington were each convicted of two counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to 25 years to life, the maximum sentence allowable at the time in New York.
Washington died in prison in 2000. Bell, who also pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the August 1971 killing of Sgt. John Young in San Francisco, was denied parole in New York seven times before being granted his release in April 2018.
Bottom was denied parole 12 times.
Earlier this year, Bottom had sought parole after it was reported he may have contracted COVID-19. New York Attorney General Letitia James challenged a public health release — and records show that on June 4 the Appellate Court ruled against releasing Bottom, stating "This, as petitioner failed to demonstrate the illegality of Muntaqim's confinement, Supreme Court should have dismissed the petition."
A joint statement from the Release Aging People in Prison Campaign, Parole Preparation Project, Brooklyn Defenders Services and The Legal Aid Society supported the Parole Board's decision to release Bottom.
"We support the Parole Board’s decisions to release incarcerated older people who have served decades in prison and pose no risk to public safety. The purpose of parole is to evaluate people for release based on who they are today, not to extend sentences into perpetuity. This and other recent decisions the Parole Board has made based on those principles are the right ones," the statement said.
But PBA president Patrick J. Lynch on Wednesday accused the Cuomo administration and the state Legislature of playing politics by changing state law and parole board rules, therefore making it "easier for violent criminals to challenge parole denials."
Records show that after his previous denial by the parole board, Bottom was not eligible for another appearance before the board until March 2021.
But a judge ruled revisions to parole board guidelines meant Bottom was eligible for a new hearing, which he got on Sept. 11.

Clementine: Chapter 4
Tumblr media
It was a stretch, but a few long nights spread over cooling cups of coffee and far too many documents was all it took to square away Hanna Hut. You were now the legal owner of an LLC. To even say the words made you giddy. You were a business owner! It was equal parts terrifying and electrifying to know that your future was now truly in your own hands.
Just like that, you only had a short amount of time to get the doors open. It seemed an impossible feat, but having Kylo by your side gave you an abundance of confidence. He was quick to soothe the side of you that felt self-conscious for taking up so much of the man’s time. All it took was one look, and he’d silently give your shoulder a squeeze. A quiet reminder that it was his own choice to come along for the ride.
With all of the paperwork out of the way, it meant time for the “fun stuff”. Which was how you found yourself in Hell’s Kitchen on a sunny Wednesday afternoon. The summer air was stale and muggy in a typical New York City fashion. Still, that couldn’t damper your excitement as you explored a kitchen supply store with Kylo.
This wasn’t his place of expertise, but he was happy to tag along and watch you bounce from aisle to aisle. He loved getting lost in your world, listening to you gush about the different espresso machines, and how each brand differed.
Although, he did pipe up once in a while to gently remind you of a very strict budget he helped calculate the night before.
“Look at these portafilters. Oh my gosh, they’re gorgeous,” you cried out, fingers greedily reaching out for the shiny stainless steel handles. Kylo laughed and shook his head as he held out the red plastic basket on his arm. You hurried to fill it with a few accessories, eager to try everything out once the shop delivered your new espresso machine.
“How do you know so much about coffee?” Kylo asked. He wandered with you down another aisle, this one filled with gorgeous glassware of all shapes and sizes. You picked up a double walled glass cup and mused, “I used to work in a coffeeshop during college. We only ever used crappy beans since it was a college town, but I still loved everything about the job.”
You set the glass down and picked up another one - a pale pink ceramic mug. “I liked how coffee could perk people up. How it was such an integral part to their day. It was fun to see people gather in the shop, too. How it served as a backdrop to so many happy memories for people of all walks of life. I’d love for Hanna Hut to be a source of happiness for people.”
“That’s quite admirable of you,” he responded. Kylo then plucked the pink mug out of your hand and looked it over. “This one. I think it’s so you.”
Your scrunched your nose up at Kylo, secretly loving how much he towered over you. “What about that mug makes you think of me?”
He pretended to be deep in thought as he scratched his chin. “Hm. For starters, it’s small and cute.” Your cheeks pinked, and he chuckled in response. Throwing an arm around your shoulder he continued, “Come on. Let’s finish shopping, get this stuff shipped to the store, and then grab some lunch. How does Italian sound?”
You tilted you chin up to look at him and squealed, “Only if we can get tiramisu!”
Kylo shook his head, as the realization that he was so whipped for you set in.
Apparently “Italian” meant seats at an exclusive restaurant where the chef, himself, prepared your meal. He introduced himself as Pietro Fagiuolli, and ushered you directly to the kitchen, where a secluded spot was set up by the kitchen island. You realized that there was barely any space between yourself and Kylo, especially given how his knees knocked into yours.
He shot you playful smiles as your legs continued to rub and touch throughout the meal. When he finally felt you relax your knee into his inner thigh, Kylo felt a sudden swell of confidence. Surely all of your playful flirtation and gentle touches must mean something. You didn’t seem the type to flirt your way into getting someone to help you out.
It was now or never. He gently set his fork down with a quiet clink, and folded his hands together in his lap. You felt the air change, and put your own utensils down. Kylo took in a deep breath and murmured quietly enough so that nobody in the kitchen could hear your conversation.
“I don’t want to be too forward, and I don’t want you to think that your answer will affect whether or not I still help out with Hanna Hut...but...how would you feel about dating me?”
He hated how his voice cracked at the end. Despite having faced down some seriously intimidating individuals in court, he’d never done something as heart racing as seriously asking a woman out. Not like this, when he was already so invested from the get go.
You tilted your head and considered the man in front of you for a second before your lip twisted in a little smirk. “I thought that’s what we’re doing now,” you teased. You reached across the stainless steel tabletop and opened your hand up.
Kylo was quick to place a hand in yours, intertwining your fingers.
“Doesn’t hurt to check,” he muttered. Kylo was old school, but he knew better than to just assume everyone else had the same expectations. He spent the better part of his life in New York City, a place where people played fast and loose with feelings. Even if you didn’t seem the type to casually date, Kylo still wanted to make sure before investing more into the relationship.
Your eyes crinkled in amusement and happiness. “Only under one condition.”
“And what’s that?”
“We’re exclusive,” you finished.
Kylo laughed, already feeling a million times lighter. Hearing that you wanted him, and only him, made the man’s day. “So I guess that would make you my girlfriend?”
You nodded and stood up on your toes to lean across the table. “Seal it with a kiss?”
He got up to meet you halfway, and your eyes fluttered shut as he pressed his plush lips against your own. It was a chaste kiss, but one filled with promise of a future you could never have imagined.
His tongue swiped forward, and just as you were about to deepen the kiss, a throat cleared in the kitchen.
“Really, guys?” Pietro groaned, his voice laced with a thick Italian accent. “Let’s show some respect for my pasta.” His tone was teasing, and he had a wide smile on his face. The man rested a hip at the edge of the island and tossed a towel over his shoulder.
You pushed away from Kylo and shyly tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. Although it was clear that Pietro was giving Kylo some harmless ribbing, you couldn’t help but feel a little embarrassed. “Thank you for hosting us. The food is amazing,” you awkwardly sputtered.
“You really outdid yourself,” Kylo added, making a point to gesture at your empty plates. The chef chuckled and slapped a hand against Kylo’s back. “Anything for the man who kept me out of jail!”
He took notice of your shocked expression and laughed even louder. “No, nothing crazy! I was being mistaken for some sucker with mob ties. Apparently having a thick Italian accent is enough of a reason to arrest someone in this town.” Pietro rolled his eyes and gave Kylo a jab with his elbow and continued, “But this guy over here believed me. I was only a sous chef at the time, and this guy defended my case pro bono. Promised Mr. Tall, Dark, and Scary that if he kept me out of jail, he’d get free meals whenever he wanted!”
You smiled at how cute Kylo looked with shy and rosy cheeks. You asked, “By this amazing meal, I’m assuming that you won?”
Pietro tossed his arm around Kylo’s shouldered and cheered, “Hell, yes! I owe this guy my life.”
“Alright, alright. Did you come here with dessert or just to chat our ears off?” Kylo groused, clearly embarrassed from all of the praise. Pietro was unfazed though, and turned to shout some Italian over his shoulder. A young man immediately appeared balancing several plates on his hands and forearms.
There was a giant slice of tiramisu, clearly made from scratch. The cream was so fresh and fluffy, it looked like little puffs of clouds with the finest dusting of cocoa. There was also a bowl with generous servings of gelato in all sorts of colors. What excited you the most though, was a narrow rectangular plate.
Placed in a neat row upon the plate were the most beautiful and exquisitely decorated chocolates. They were like miniature pieces of art, each shaped like an iconic symbol of New York City. There was a yellow taxi cab, a skyscraper, a cute little stiletto, and an apple just to name a few. It looked like the colors were all hand painted for goodness sake!
“These are too pretty to eat,” you gushed. Despite your words, your fingers reached out to pick up a little newspaper shaped chocolate. There was even a tiny “NY Times” painted across the top.
Pietro’s chest puffed at your words, proud that you noticed and appreciated the details. “Go on and try it. There’s more where that came from,” he urged.
You took a little nibble and moaned, causing Kylo’s mind to wander to a place unsuitable for public consumption. It was an impossible task though, as you reached across the table and hand-fed the other half of the chocolate to your boyfriend.
He groaned, partially from the burst of chocolate and hazelnut, and partially from the feeling of your fingers gently brushing a stray crumb off the bottom of his lower lip. “These are good,” he muttered. He caught your eye and couldn’t help but share a mischievous smile.
“I’m still here,” Pietro grumbled. Before you could protest, he stuck a finger up and joked, “I’m Italian. I know what those lovey dovey eyes look like, and you two got it bad.”
Pietro signed and nudged Kylo. “How about I leave you two love birds alone before I vomit, and you tell your lady about the deal, eh?” He threw Kylo a pointed look before pressing a friendly kiss against your cheek and disappearing into the back of the kitchen.
You sat up and dug into the cake, mouth full of cream and coffee soaked cake as you asked, “What deal?”
Kylo smiled at the sight of you licking your fingers and answered, “Pietro’s willing to consign his premiere chocolate collection at your shop. Exclusively. It’ll be a great way to generate buzz and make some sales while you’re at it.”
“Consign?” Your nose wrinkled in confusion.
“It means that whatever you sell, you’ll split 50/50. If any product doesn’t get sold, he’ll take it back at no cost. It’s a way for businesses to wholesale a new product without risk.”
Lips still smacking, you wondered aloud, “Not that I don’t appreciate it, but why me? He’s on the shortlist to earning a Michelin Star!”
Kylo reached over and ran his hand along your arm. “I told him about your concept, and he loves it. He really wants to help your business take off.”
“He feels sorry for me,” you sighed. A little pout formed at your lips. On anyone else it would have looked petulant, but Kylo found the way your lips pressed together to be quite endearing.
“No. He really loves your concept and supporting young business owners. I would be lying if I said what he went through didn’t affect him, but he wouldn’t just help anyone out.”
“Okay,” you murmured, still feeling a little shocked. Kylo sensed your trepidation and immediately stood from his seat. He walked around the table and pulled you into a tight hug. Your face pressed against his chest, and you couldn’t help but sag into the embrace.
He ran his hands through your hair, and wondered when you were last held like this. It was so long ago a date didn’t surface.
“Have some confidence in yourself. You’re about to be a...uh...what is it that they call it online? A ‘boss bitch’?”
You snorted into this shirt, “Please don’t say that ever again. But I do appreciate the sentiment.”
“Only if you promise to be kinder to yourself,” he murmured, lifting your face up by the chin with the tip of his index finger.
“Deal.”
Kylo’s face softened, and he gave you a little kiss. As he held you and kissed positive affirmations into your temple, you couldn’t help but give a silent “thank you” to Poe’s stupid stereo system.

Today on Tomdaya Island
Nikki, our Captain, has returned from hiatus!  Welcome back, Nikki!  We missed you!
Speaking of Nikki, her birthday is tomorrow, so the Hollands may have celebrated it this past weekend.
Nikki’s sons, Tom, Harry, and Sam attended the IT Chapter 2 premiere in London today.  It appears Tuwaine was there, too.
Tom, Haz, Tuwaine, Harry, and Sam appear to have had a boys night out at a pub.  Tom was spotted at a pub last night.
Tom is currently gracing the Fall 2019 cover of GQ Style, looking like he stepped out of one of Z’s favorite Harry Potter movies.  The interview drops tomorrow, so we don’t have long to wait to find out what Tom said about who he does and doesn’t date.
Z departed Athens today.  Mr. Roach (Law) traveled in luxurious first-class style, so I imagine Ms. Zendaya did as well!  Since Z has to be in New York on Wednesday for the Macy’s Lancome invite, I believe it’s safe to assume she flew there today.
Tom will be in Salt Lake City on Friday and Saturday.  The TxZ Fall Fashion Show will be held in NY this Sunday.
The FFH extended cut was released in the U.S. and Canada.  I think Tom should take Tuwaine to NY this weekend to see it, don’t you!?  While Tom’s there, he can check out Jake’s play, the TxZ Show, and Z’s tan!
None of the remaining questions below were checked off today, but hopefully we’ll have more answers in the coming days.  Stay tuned...
Will Z post her own birthday post?  ✔️
Are Z and Jacob actually dating?
Are Z and Jacob just friends?
Will Jacob show up at the TxZ show?
Does Z still worry about Tom in the Spidey suit?
Will Tom post something for Z’s birthday?  ✔️
Is Tom with O?
Is Tom actually single?
Is Z no longer Tom’s “mate”?
Will Tom have weekend plans in NY?
Is Tom secretly hiding Bella Hadid in his bathroom, waiting to bring her out as his new very, very good friend?
Has Tuwaine watched his big screen debut?
Will Tom take Tuwaine on a date to see the FFH extended cut?
Is Tuwaine still a Zswagger for life?
Did Tom go to bed?
Will Tom keep Law as his stylist?
Is Claire secretly rooting for Tom?
Is Nikki secretly rooting for Z?
Does Kaz wish Z was still with Trevor?
Was the Holland-Coleman Instagram like embargo lifted for good today?
Who will Grace unfollow next?
When will Grace’s removing followers madness end?
What will Careema ask Z?
Will we see some unfollows?
How many miles a day does Tom ride on his exercise bike?
Does Tom realize Cindy is in a serious relationship with Joseph Perez?
Will Tom like more bikini pics? and …  ✔️
How will Dom make this all about himself?

Ok Im gonna try to remember as mUCH as I can! (Also I cut my sister out because I didn`t know if she would want me to post her in it or not) Im also gonna put every little detail I can so I can look back on this and crY
So Taylornation contacted me Tuesday with the whole confidential message so of course I fliPPED out cried and gave them my information RIGHT away. They contacted me like a few hours not even (the same day) that Taylor liked  @stumbleonhometomycats s post on the sideblog we share where she also queued like hUNDREDS of my tour post on there too ajshguhgijrweg. Like rIGHT after I got the dm she texted this to me
Tumblr media
so of course I pretended like I didnt know whAT she was talking about because I wanted her to be completely surprised when I told her at the concert and she was and I got her reaction on video ajhguyhijfs which I will show you later in this post.
So on Wednesday I was looking out for a call from Taylor nation and I took and nap so I put my phone ringer all the way up next to my head so it could wake me up ajhugyhijwcd and it did but I was so out of it and trying to get to my mo that I MISSED the call! So I was just panicking and was like was it even them and I tried calling back three times the third time I left a message and told them my name which was good because like 5 minutes after they called back! So I answered and she said this is Taylornation and to keep everything confidential so I asked if I could tell my mom and she was like yeah of course! So like anyone does I was outside so I ran in the house to my mom and put the phone on speaker. They explained everything and they KNEW I was going to the concert on Saturday! They told me I could bring someone so I was going with my sister so I gave her my information. Then all that was left was to wait for the confirmation dm! Me still not being able to process I was just like ya know theres always a possibility something happens and you dont get that dm! But I still kept in mind that it very much could happen so I wrote a letter to Taylor because I knew if I did meet Taylor I`d blank (which I did but we`ll get to that lmaojhyuijfs) I also put my friend Tati @hoeofmyheart s memes in and envelope and I also sent some of you guys on here an ask on anon saying “If you could say anything to Taylor in 2 sentences what would you say 💛” and put that in a seperate envelope. So there were 3 seperate envelopes tied together in a ribbon! I also put gold stickers, snake stickers and a necklase in one of them and sealed the first letter in the front with one of the snake stickers.
So on Friday my mom was planning our trip to New Jersey because we live in long island NY so it would be a longish trip. So her and my dad were planning on staying in the city while me and my sister went to MetLife so she was looking at trains and the only option was gonna get me there at 5:15! and taylornation told me to be there BETWEEN 4-5 and right around this time while I was PANICING Taylornation dmed me that me and my guest were confirmed! So I literally BEGGED my parents to drive us because by car it only takes about 2 hours to get there. She finally AGREED! So fast foward to SATURDAY we left at 1:30 and got there around 3. While I was walking to willcall (where I had to go to get the envelope) I SAW SOFA @lov-eswift so we hUGGED and talked and she got glitter in my hair ajhyijkwhd I also got to meet @whyisntketchupasmoothie whos so nICE I love bELLA!!! So after me and my sister walk to willcall. We got there early so they didnt have them yet. So I texted @stumbleonhometomycats and was like where ARE you??? And she sent me her location and Im a dumbass so I didnt know how to use that lmaooo then finally my sister showed me but by that time Megan was going to find Sofa. So I went to find them both and didnt sEE them so I called Megan and she was just like “Im right in front of you” lmaoooo so we hugged and she squeezed me sO tight shes so soft yall she LOVES me We talked and then I finally pulled out my phone to record and was just like Taylornation contacted me and when I tell you she fell out she fELL out
youtube
So after that Megan said she told her friends she thought something was sus because I literally talk to her all the time but that whole ass week I didnt talk to her as much lmaoksijhguyijkvef So I followed Megan and her friend to her car and she did the macarena to delicate and put glitter on my face after I said I wish I put glitter on my face because shes sOFT and loves mEEEE. Then she yelled at me at like 3:50 to go to will call and check for the envelope lmaooo They didnt have the envelope until closer to 5. After I got the envelope me and my sister walked to where we had to go and people were congratulating me! We also passed @whyisntketchupasmoothie and @ofrunningfoxes  who were so sweET and told me she would love me!
We were the first ones there and after a while everyone was there and we lined up. We went backstage and the man that led us told us to leave everything on the table and give him any letters or gifts or anything so I gave him the letters! We then walked in its like this very short hall with a few of taylors outfits behind glass and ahead is the rep room enTRANCE! So we walk in and rep room is so small so as soon as youre in you HEAR Taylor and idk man I just was nOt ready for that. I freaked out as you do got nervous and sat on the other side of the room opposite of where Taylor was lmaoooo there were people there to take Polaroids of us since we weren’t allowed to bring a camera so we took some of those. There was also like fOOD and alcohol which idk if we were allowed to touch any but no one attempted or asked so it just sat there ajhguthvjes so there were only 2 groups left and the other group was still taking pictures so we waited next to the small like square area covered by a curtain where Taylor was and I sAW glimpses of her GOD! So after that group I went in and Taylor yelled “hey how have you been!!!” and had her arms wIDE open so I went to hug her and she grabbed me and roCKED ME then she looked me straight in the eyes and was like “you look prettier in persone !” i was shOOK and she turned to my sister and asks her if she want a hug and that she looks good in yellow! THE STRAY CATS 40:
BRIAN SETZER, LEE ROCKER AND SLIM JIM PHANTOM
RETURN TO CELEBRATE THEIR 40TH ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR
WITH NEW ALBUM AND TOUR
ORIGINAL FOUNDING MEMBERS OF THE ACCLAIMED
AMERICAN ROCK AND ROLL TRIO SET OFF SPARKS ON '40,'
THEIR FIRST NEW ALBUM IN 26 YEARS
All revved up and red hot, The Stray Cats are back.
Brian Setzer (guitar, vocals), Lee Rocker (bass, vocals) and Slim Jim Phantom (drums, vocals)--original founding members of the iconic and acclaimed American rock and roll trio--are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2019 with a new album and tour (*see tour dates below).
The STRAY CATS have titled the album 40. Marking their first new album in 26 years, it will be released May 24 via Surfdog Records and distributed by BMG (CD, vinyl, digital). The song titles alone--including "Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me)," "Rock It Off," "Mean Pickin' Mama" and "Devil Train"--instantly let listeners know they're in for a non-stop rocking time.
The first instant grat track, "Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me)," is available now with a pre-order of the album. The song is also streaming on Spotify. An exclusive indie-store edition of the album--colored vinyl, with a double-sided 24x12 poster--will arrive on May 24: http://smarturl.it/StrayCats
In addition, The STRAY CATS are releasing an exclusive 12" picture disc with three songs--"Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me), "When Nothing's Going Right" and "Rock It Off"--on April 13, Record Store Day.
The STRAY CATS begin their select U.S. dates on August 3 on the heels of June and July overseas shows. Tickets for the shows go on sale Friday, March 8 at 10:00 AM (local time).
The STRAY CATS recorded 40 at Blackbird Studios in Nashville in late 2018 following their first North American shows in 10 years, with four concerts including sold-out headlining shows in Las Vegas and the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, CA before wildly enthusiastic audiences. Still buzzing from the thrill of playing together again and the crowd response, they went into the studio with producer Peter Collins (Rush, Bon Jovi, The Brian Setzer Orchestra) and engineer Vance Powell (Jack White, Chris Stapleton, Arctic Monkeys). There are a dozen original songs that comprise the album.
Here's what the guys have to say:
Brian Setzer: "You have to understand how unique the Stray Cats are. It's me playing an old hollow body guitar, Slim Jim playing two or three drums, and Lee Rocker slapping a stand-up acoustic bass. I get to write new songs and then play them with my buddies. Somehow we created a new and exciting sound with this simple idea. And you know what? A lot of people agree!"
Lee Rocker: "This new album really feels like the first record we did, it's really natural and comfortable. For the recording, we went live--like doing a gig, we recorded in a real, organic way. We were all in one room standing next to each other recording live, with the amps turned up to 10, it captured the undefinable things that happen when a band is great, it captured the magic that takes place and an undefined spark."
Slim Jim Phantom: "We're very, very focused when we get into the studio, it didn't feel like a long time had passed since we had done this, it felt very natural and familiar. We were all in a row with everyone watching each other, so it felt like a gig in the set-up. We really embraced that a little bit for the album, it's like an old way of making records. The modern is meeting the vintage, which has always been our inspiration."
'40' Tracklisting
Cat Fight (Over A Dog Like Me)

About The STRAY CATS:
The STRAY CATS, the band that put Rockabilly music back on the record charts in the early '80s, scored several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to a striking visual 1950's style brought "up to date" with exaggerated pompadours and colorful tattoos and as well as genuine musical chops that evoked the best players of rockabilly's original heyday. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Brian Setzer, upright bass player Lee Rocker and drummer Slim Jim Phantom in the Long Island town of Massapequa, NY, in 1979, the trio shared a love for Rockabilly music. After banging around New York for a few months, in the summer of 1980, and seeing a pompadoured kid on the cover of UK magazine NME, they hopped a plane to London where a rockabilly revival movement was just beginning to emerge. Their massive hits and videos include "Runaway Boys," "Rock This Town," "Stray Cat Strut" "(She's) Sexy + 17," and "I Won't Stand in Your Way."

Skinnytaste Meal Plan (December 3-December 9)
A free 7-day flexible meal plan including breakfast, lunch and dinner and a shopping list. All recipes include calories and Weight Watchers Freestyle™ SmartPoints®.
Happy December everyone! If you haven’t started your Holiday shopping yet, perhaps some of these ideas from my Holiday Gift Guide will inspire you. Also, my site is moving servers Monday so there is a chance it may be down but hoping it won’t. Just to play it safe, you may want to print out any recipes you plan on making Monday. Lastly, next Sunday I will be doing a book signing in Long Island, December 9 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Stew Leonard’s in East Meadow, NY. Hope to see some of you there!
If you’re new to my meal plans, I’ve been sharing these free, 7-day flexible healthy meal plans (you can see my previous meal plans here) that are meant as a guide, with plenty of wiggle room for you to add more food, coffee, beverages, fruits, snacks, dessert, wine, etc or swap recipes out for meals you prefer, you can search for recipes by course in the index. You should aim for around 1500 calories* per day.
There’s also a precise, organized grocery list that will make grocery shopping so much easier and much less stressful. Save you money and time. You’ll dine out less often, waste less food and you’ll have everything you need on hand to help keep you on track.
Lastly, if you’re on Facebook join my Skinnytaste Facebook Community where everyone’s sharing photos of recipes they are making, you can join here. I’m loving all the ideas everyone’s sharing!
THE DETAILS:
Breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday, are designed to serve 1 while dinners and all meals on Saturday and Sunday are designed to serve a family of 4. Some recipes make enough leftovers for two nights or lunch the next day. While we truly believe there is no one size fits all meal plan, we did our best to come up with something that appeals to a wide range of individuals. Everything is Weight Watchers friendly, I included the updated Weight Watcher Freestyle Points for your convenience, feel free to swap out any recipes you wish or just use this for inspiration!
The grocery list is comprehensive and includes everything you need to make all meals on the plan. I’ve even included brand recommendations of products I love and use often. Cross check your cabinets because many condiments you’ll notice I use often, so you may already have a lot of them.
And last, but certainly not least, this meal plan is flexible and realistic. There’s plenty of wiggle room for cocktails, healthy snacks, dessert and dinner out. And if necessary, you can move some things around to make it work with your schedule. Please let me know if you’re using these plans, this will help me decide if I should continue sharing them!

NEW YORK
2021 Aug 31 (Tue) – Well, the caravan is over.  It was a job but we happened to fall right into the perfect time period to make our trip.  We started just as everything was starting to relax and finished up just as restrictions were starting to come back into place.
Newburgh was lots of fun.  We did not get to take the group to the FDR Presidential Home & Museum.  The National Park Service stopped group tours but they were allowing individual, timed entry so several of our group went on their own.  We took the group to an Italian restaurant for dinner in place of the museum.  It was a great choice!
On Sunday, we took a small group of folks into New York City on an extra excursion. It was a long day with lots of walking but we got to see the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and the 9/11 Memorial. Some of us couldn’t go to the Top of the Rock because they were requiring everyone to have a COVID vaccine card.  That requirement was just started by New York City two days ago.
We had our farewell dinner on Monday and a continental breakfast on Tuesday.  Then it was hugs and good byes and in one fell swoop, 15 rigs pulled out of the campground and we were standing there alone. And just like that, two years of planning, months of changes and nail-biting anticipation, and 41 days of caravan were over.
We pack up and leave tomorrow for a race to South Carolina to help our son celebrate his 40th birthday.  We’ll be there for 2 nights then it will be another race to The Keys to join my brother, Tim, for a memorial service for his son, Joe.
2021 Aug 25 (Wed) – Our next move was to Saratoga Springs where we toured the racetrack.  It was interesting to see that the horses have the right of way as their stables are across the street from the track.  Cars were stopped as a parade of horses crossed the road back and forth. There was a cruise on a boat on the Hudson River where we saw several eagles.  They have made a successful comeback in the area.  We also toured the U.S.S. Slater, a WWII destroyer escort. Then the group moved to Cooperstown and we toured the National Baseball Hall of Fame.  That night, we had a barbecue of hot dogs and hamburgers. That was followed by a rousing game of bean bag baseball where the women challenged the men.  The women started off strong and kept the lead until the bottom of the ninth when the men rallied and overtook the women.  It was a lot of fun.  Tomorrow, we leave for Newburgh and the final stop on our caravan.
2021 Aug 17 (Tue) – We enjoyed Alexandria Bay and Clayton in the Thousand Islands where we toured the Boldt and Singer Castles, looked over beautiful antique boats, and enjoyed an outdoor concert on the St. Lawrence Seaway.  Then we moved to Lake Placid where we saw the Olympic Sports Complex.  Unfortunately, the Olympic Museum was closed for renovations but we did drive up to the top of Whiteface Mountain and climb to the summit.  It was breathtaking!  We toured John Brown’s Farm and Gravesite and learned about the abolitionist movement. We are currently in Ticonderoga where we toured the fort yesterday with a docent dressed as an English soldier. That was followed with a tour at the Star Trek Set Tour.  They have lovingly recreated the set of the TV series Star Trek.  It was fun to pose in the different sets and hear stories of how the series was made.  Finally, we toured Ausable Chasm today with a delicious lunch of barbecue chicken and salads.
2021 Aug 12 (Thu) – The past week has been very busy.  We moved from Niagara to the Thousand Islands.  Took a boat ride on the St. Lawrence Seaway and toured both Boldt and Singer Castles.  We went to the Antique Boat Museum and walked around a 106’ house boat.  We had a potluck with a Cajun/Mexican theme.  The food was very spicy!  The campground host and her band played music for us while we ate. The next day we went to a free concert in Alexandria Bay where we heard a tribute to the Beatles.  The music was very enthusiastic.  Today we moved to Lake Placid.
2021 Aug 5 (Thu) – We are camped at Red’s Twilight on the Erie RV Resort near Rochester.  We went to the George Eastman Photography Museum and Home.  Eastman committed suicide when he was 77 years old.  He left a note saying that he had done everything and “why wait?”  We also went to the Strong Museum of Play.  It was three floors of everything you ever wanted to know about games. They had a beautiful butterfly garden with 600 butterflies in the enclosure at any one time.  They bring in 250 chrysalises a week.
We carpooled to Seneca Falls (an hour away) where we enjoyed lunch at the Ventosa Vineyards and walked up and down the historic street.  The movie, “It’s a Wonderful Life,” was purportedly based on the town of Seneca Falls.  We toured the museum.  We also went through the National Women’s Rights Historic Park and the Seneca Falls Waterways & Industrial Museum.
At happy hour, we played corn hole and beanbag baseball.  It’s been lots of fun.
2021 Aug 2 (Mon) – Sorry.  We have been so busy that I fairly collapse at the end of the day and don’t get a chance to post on this blog.  It will only go on for a few more weeks, then we will be back to normal (whatever that is). Hang in there.
In Chautauqua, we visited the Chautauqua Institute; took a dinner cruise on the Chautauqua Belle, a steam powered paddlewheeler; toured the Lucy-Desi Museum; and visited the National Comedy Center. We had a member of the caravan (Doug) have a heart attack.  He went to the hospital and they put in a pace maker.  We left him at the campground waiting for his son to come drive them and their rig home.
In Niagara Falls (where we are now), we saw the Falls and took a ride on the Maid of the Mist to the base of the Falls on the Niagara River.  We took a bus tour that included the NY Power Vista and Old Fort Niagara.  Today we took a ride on a canal boat on the Erie Canal and went through two locks. That was followed by a delightful buffet meal.  Jim and his wife decided to leave the caravan because he is still now feeling well.  We are now down to 16 RVs in the caravan.
Tomorrow we leave for Rochester where we expect to explore the Strong Museum of Play, the George Eastman Museum & Home, and Seneca Falls.
2021 Jul 26 (Mon) – We moved out today, leading the caravan with 3 other RVs.   We arrived at Camp Chautauqua at 1:40 PM.  After checking in, we got settled in then made us the sheets for where everyone else would go.  It was another 2 hours to get everyone parked and settled in.  There was a delay as Doug couldn’t get his satellite dish to stow properly and Johnny waited with him.  When they left, Doug got lost on the way.
Paul set up the tent and we had happy hour at 4 PM.  At 7:30 PM, we tried to show a movie – The Long Long Trailer with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz.  This is in preparation for our visit to the Lucy-Desi Museum on Wednesday.  It was still too late and the movie didn’t show up on the screen.  So we sat around, waiting for the sun to lower in the sky.
While waiting, Janet told me Doug was going to the hospital because he was experiencing chest pains.
2021 Jul 25 (Sun) – We rode with Rick & Brenda to the Brewery of Broken Dreams. The name intrigued me and I wanted to see what the place was like. As we were getting out of the car and posing for pictures, Rick passed out and face planted, hitting the car on the way down.  After we got the bleeding stopped, we took him to the hospital.  After waiting a while, Brenda gave us the keys to the car and we returned to the campground.  Brenda called later to say they were admitting Rick for testing at another hospital.  Hank and I took care of their dog, Timmy, until she came back after 10 PM.
At 5 PM, we held our travel meeting.  Announcements included the fact that Rick was in the hospital and Jim was recuperating from his bout of dehydration.
2021 Jul 24 (Sat) – We went to the Finger Lakes Boating Museum this morning. They split us into 3 groups.  We got the newbie who didn’t really know that much about the collection.  After admiring their large collections of boating paraphernalia, we went down into the former wine cellar and enjoyed a catered lunch.  After we were done, everyone was released to explore the area on their own.
We returned to the campground.  At 4 PM, we had happy hour. Everyone appears to be very happy.
2021 Jul 23 (Fri) – We took the group to the Corning Museum of Glass today. Because the drive was long (32 miles), we told everyone to go on their own rather than drive in a long caravan line. They just had to arrive by 9 am. One person didn’t arrive until almost 9:30.  We gathered outside and I assigned everyone their times to go do their projects – either a holiday ornament or a fusing glass project.  The museum itself was huge!  It is amazing how many products use glass.
We went to Corning with Rick & Brenda after the museum for lunch.  We had wanted to tour the Rockwell Museum but we were running out of time and needed to get back to the campground.  Western Winery did a free tasting at the campground. We also had a potluck dinner, which went very well.  Everyone had a good time.
One of our group, Sue, came to me during the dinner and told me she and her husband were going to leave the caravan.  He has been feeling very bad and she is afraid it is his heart.  He is not able to go on and they are going back home. After she left, we discussed their situation and felt that he needed to go to the hospital if he was feeling that bad. So Paul and Hank took Jim to the hospital where they left him to be evaluated.  While they were at the hospital with Jim, I worked with Sue to file the paperwork to the Good Sam Emergency Evacuation Program.  If you are too sick to go on when you travel, this insurance policy assures you they will fly you home and transport your rig as well.  We got a case number assigned and called to find out what the next steps were.  Jim needs a doctor’s note saying he is unable to drive.
At 10:30 pm, the hospital called to say we could pick Jim up.  It turned out that he was severely dehydrated.  They gave him fluids and he says he feels 100% better. They will sit a day or two after we leave and then follow us.  We are glad he is OK.
2021 Jul 22 (Thu) – We took the group to the Glenn Curtiss Museum today. What a remarkable man he was!  He started inventing things at the age of 14. Curtiss was into speed and made motorcycles that went faster and faster until he hit speeds over 100 mph.  This took place in the 1920s!  He was soon billed as the fastest man alive.  He moved from motorcycles to planes, dirigible and boats, and even built the first fifth wheel RV.
Following the museum, we went to lunch at the Switzerland Inn.  We had originally reserved the Bully Hill Vineyard but they couldn’t stabilize their chicken prices and we wound up having to cancel. We found the Switz (as they like to be called) online but it turned out to be a disappointment.  First, we arrived for an 11:30 lunch only to be told they don’t open until 12.  Then they messed up the orders and Paul saw them take 3 meals back to the kitchen. Two people did not get what they ordered but were happy with the substitute meal they did get.  The place was very small.  We were all crammed in a small room that looked out on the lake. We had wanted to sit out on the deck but the restaurant insisted we sit inside.  I think it was easier to serve us because we were closer to the kitchen. Then the bill came and I was unable to sort it out.  Instead of listing each meal (burger, fries, Pepsi for example), they had 14 burgers, 17 fries, 8 onion rings, etc.  There were many variations and they just billed the total.  And, again, the bill came in higher than what was budgeted.
After lunch at the Switz, we went with Rick & Brenda, Hank & Brenda, Johnny & Linda, and Joe & Diane to the Bully Hill Vineyards.  I was kind of depressed after that.  It was beautiful located high up on the hill overlooking the lake with a large outdoor patio.  They also had a tasting room, a museum, an art room, and a gift shop. What a come down to have gone to the Switz.  I hope the rest of the trip goes better.
2021 Jul 21 (Wed) - The caravan started today!  We spent the early part of the day getting things ready. Paul and Johnny put the ladder plates on and collected forms certifying vehicle worthiness.  I finalized my briefing.  We all put the gift bags together.
At 4:30 p.m. we held the orientation briefing.  After that, we rode to the American Legion Post in Bath. They served us a meal of salad, chicken speedies, salt potatoes, brown baked beans, and cheesecake.  The food was very good.  They were very appreciative of our payment.  We had everyone buying drinks at the bar to support the lodge.  Everything went off well.  It was a good start to the caravan.
2021 Jul 20 (Tue) – We spent a good part of the day getting things together.  There was a quick run into town to get groceries and wine.  Johnny & Linda are eager to take on their Tail Gunner duties.
At 4:30 p.m. folks started showing up at our campsite for happy hour.  By 5 p.m., we had quite a crowd around us.  About 2/3rd’s of the group is in the campground now.
2021 Jul 19 (Mon) – Hank left early this morning to go to Lockport. He is picking his wife up from the airport tomorrow.  The rest of us left Laporte, PA, at 11 a.m. since we did not have very far to go.  As we were going up the long hill, there was a bang and we lost power.  We knew the repair on the turbo hose failed.  We pulled over to the side and opened the hood.  This time, the hose really blew apart.  We told everyone to go ahead.  We parked the trailer on the side of the road and drove back into town to the Ford dealer.  After hearing of our dilemma, they sold us the turbo hose they were holding for another customer and fit us right into their schedule.  They even gave us a car to use to go into town and get lunch while they did the repairs.  We were in and out in less than an hour.  Wow!
Tumblr media
Back on the road, we arrived at the Hammondsport/Bath KOA campground around 3 p.m.  We set up then returned to the office to settle accounts.  What a shocker that was!  They charged us more than $2,300 more than we budgeted.  The manager mumbled something about us getting put in higher rated campsites.  She is an extremely poor communicator.  She changed our campsites about a month ago but never explained they were for more money.
About a third of the caravan is here.  We were tired and didn’t really do anything tonight.

CANTLON: TAFT RHINOS RUN OVER GUNNERY HIGHLANDERS
Tumblr media
BY: Gerry Cantlon, Howlings WATERTOWN, CT - The Taft Rhinos scored four goals in a wild six-goal second period at home at the Odden Arena to slip past the Gunnery (Washington) Highlanders 5-3 on Monday evening. In the first period, Zach Tonelli (Armonk, NY) was at the right side of the net and knocked in the rebound of Tristan Fasig’s (Sherman) shot at 13:52 for the 1-0 lead. Gunnery scored two early goals and looked as if it would be a long early evening for Taft. 46 seconds into the second stanza, Matteo Giampa (Virgil, Ontario) was on the right-wing and took a feed from David Andreychuk (no relation to the former NHL’er) putting it past Mikey Roberts (Wilton). At 4:48, the Gunnery was on the power play and saw the Highlanders win the draw and get the puck got back to Samuel Logan at the left point, but his shot was stopped. The Highlanders' Matt D’Agostino (North Branford) and a UCONN commit next season, sent a short pass to Alexander Jefferies (a Merrimack HE commit) and a right-handed shot in the left-wing circle. Jeffries put a perfect shot under the crossbar and over Roberts' right shoulder and the Highlanders seemed to have the game in control at 2-1 and were about to pull away. But that began a wild remaining 13 minutes and 12 seconds. Taft’s Nick Cullinan scooted up the left-wing took a superb cross-ice pass from Tonelli and beat Gunnery goalie, Carmine Andranovich, to the far side and low at 5:53 to tie the game at two. Taft would the lead at 3-2 when Tonelli, who was in traffic, pushed a backhander past Adranovich at 8:17 for his third point of the game. The two teams pushed hard to break the tie. Gunnery’s Dane Dowiak (Wexford, PA), a Penn State commit in two years, was on one short-handed situation had three quality chances all stopped by Roberts. Just 21 seconds after that, D’Agostino would have another one from off the left-wing. The last chance set off a wild series of events. On a turnover, Gunnery had a two-on-zero short-handed breakaway and D’Agostino elected to take a shot from twenty-feet out and it missed the net. The puck went around the boards and off Taft went in transition. Nikita Kovalev (Greenwich) was on the right-wing and got the feed from his center, Thomas Ricciardelli (New Canaan), at 14:33 deposited the puck into the back of the net to take a 4-2 lead. In the third period, Taft set up a strong defense to clog the middle on the freewheeling Highlanders as Bobby Barrasso, Conor Colucci (Fairfield), and Kovalev did a strong job. Tristan Fasig nearly got the two-goal lead but were stopped. Then at 13:50, D’Agostino nearly got it for Gunnery with a great shot opportunity dead center fifteen-feet out missed the net again. Gunnery followed with a late power play and executed it perfectly after taking a timeout. Off a draw, the puck was corralled. Dowiak was at the left point and sent a short pass over to Andreychuk deep in the right corner just outside of the faceoff circle. Then he put a pass along the ice that Giampa tallied his second of the game with a perfect redirect that Roberts had no chance on at 15:46 and narrowed the Taft lead to 4-3. Taft’s Colucci made two strong defensive plays in the final minute of play, first a block and then got to a loose puck and got it out of the zone that kept Gunnery at bay. Ed Rayhill (New Hartford, NY) at the top of the left-wing circle was the Highlanders had the last best chance with 35.2 seconds left that Roberts turned away before the Rhinos Henry Molson closed out the scoring with an empty netter with 11.4 seconds left. Taft’s record goes to 3-6-0 and they at Westminster (Simsbury) Wednesday at 2:30 pm. Gunnery’s record (7-3-1) plays Hoosac School (Hoosick, NY) at home on Thursday at 4:00 pm. NOTES: Two former Wolf Pack players were among the NHL three stars. Defenseman Tony D’Angelo had a sterling five-point effort against Colorado and goalie Cam Talbot now on the other side of the Battle of Alberta helped Calgary in a 4-3 win Saturday for the Flames vaulting them into first place. Current Wolf Pack Phil Di Giuseppe recalled Sunday and captain Steven Fogarty reassigned to Hartford was scratched from last night’s 6-2 win over the Islanders. Read the full article

Summer Meltdown - Trip Report
Summer Meltdown - Trip Report
August 1-4, 2019
Darrington, WA
I won a VIP experience to Summer Meltdown music festival, courtesy of Propeller / Head Count / Umphrey’s McGee.
Summer Meltdown is a music festival in the mountains of North West Washington. A combination of Jam Bands and Electronic music. The perfect weekend of camping, swimming, friends, art, and live music.
Propeller is a website that rewards users for contributing to good causes. ttps://www.propeller.la/
I donated to Head Count, an organization that works with musicians to promote participation in democracy (register to vote). My donations earned ‘points’ on Propeller - which I spent on entries into their Summer Meltdown contest. https://www.propeller.la/summermeltdown2019
Then I won. Which was quite convenient because life has been busy and I had not bought tickets to the festival yet (and car camping was sold out). Brandon Deroche and Jezmae Klein at Propeller worked with me to make claiming my prize easy!
On Wednesday, July 31st I began to pack. Just home from a North Carolina trip to see Julia’s new baby cousin - Jack Donald. Luckily I’m well organized, making prep easy.
Thursday the 1st I drove from our house in Seattle to the festival. Less than a 2 hour drive north, near the Canadian border. Check-in was a bit different than the last 5 years we’ve been to this event. I started at the will-call booth to get my wristband from the guest list. Just being on the Umphrey’s guest list was jaw dropping. Then I got my VIP credentials from the artist booth, so I could get access to the Mesa camping area.
Finding the perfect campsite at Meltdown is always a challenge. It’s a big rush to claim your spot. Luckily in Mesa it’s easier. There are 20’ x 20’ marked off plots of land. The best ones were taken when I arrived at 1pm - but the one I claimed was still super nice with trees all around.
Tumblr media
I set up camp alone, since Julia had to work until Friday afternoon. I made friends with our new neighbors quickly. Bryce and Lindsey, a gay couple, on one side. Nicole and Eric from Portland/Colorado/NY on the other. Moan moved in later - but we didn’t get to chill much. Plus a ton of other people close by that I failed to remember their names.
About 2pm I set out to find Patrick. We instantly connected in the vendor area of the venue. Then set out to scope the river. I limped along with a hurt achilles on my right leg.
Tumblr media
Steak dinner back at camp before show time. Jammed out to a Grateful Dead cover band while I cooked.
The opening ceremony was the perfect kickoff. A native american dude reminded us that we are all 1 human family. We are all in the same canoe, we must work together!
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong was my favorite act on Thursday. A rockin jam band with high energy. They followed on the opening ceremony discussion with a song about water to start their set.
Flowmotion is the true kickoff for Summer Meltdown. They started this event on San Juan Island in 2000. Great vibes from the Cabin Stage. Our crew’s vantage point on the cement amphitheater stairs gave us a solid view of both stages while dancing or sitting. We made that spot our home base for the weekend.
Nahko was the headliner Thursday. A fun group, but not my favorite. Their new ‘Take Your Power Back’ song was the highlight of the set for me. Plus their brass players are cool. We found Greg, my ultimate teammate, late during this performance.
Once the sun vanished during the Nahko set - soooooo many LED things turned on. People were carrying LED toys of all kinds. Hula Hoops, walking canes, bowas, whips, nunchucks, shoes, and even top hats (no monocles though).
Bed by 1pm - after a long day!
Tumblr media
Friday started out wet. I woke up to rain at 6:30am and ensured the campsite was secured.
Unable to fall back asleep - I setup a second canopy for the neighbors. Then made myself a breakfast burrito and iced coffee.
Eric and I chatted all morning. He’s a NetSuite developer living in Portland with his girlfriend Nicole who is a freelance writer for health topics. They are more into the Electronic scene, while Julia and I are into the Jam bands.
A quick walk into the venue at noon’ish and I find Patrick, Kayla, and Sam instantly. Got free tea drinks from Zevia, then I returned to the luxury of VIP camping to wait for Julia. Janna visited with her friend Grey - said security for VIP was lax - haha.
3pm Julia arrived! I chauffeured her through the check-in process. Shannon, the Mesa camp host, hooked us up with the required credentials. Then we relaxed, got drinks from the venue, and changed in prep for the big Umphrey’s event.
6:45pm we met Lia - the Brand/Social/Media Manager for Meltdown. She was amazing all around - chatting with us about the festival and the contest. She walked us backstage to the band green room. Minutes later all 6 members of Umphrey’s McGee walked in.
Julia and I stood in a circle with Umphrey’s for almost 20 minutes. It flew by. My shirt was a hit at first. The narwhals and other fish were fun to point out. Then we chatted about the Jam/Rock vs. Electronic bands - which we obviously prefer the guitar mistakes to keyboard spacebars.
I don’t remember everything - it was a whirlwind. Julia asked if they ever skied while on tour. Not much, but Joel and Ryan do ski in their off time. Ryan even puts his kids on a leash to teach them on the mountain.
We finished with a group photo, which was a big highlight of the weekend for us.
Tumblr media
If that wasn’t enough - we got to watch their set from the stage. Lia again escorted us to our spot after the band took the stage. We were right next to the guitar tech. Photographers and staff moved all around us. There were also 4 other fans who got backstage in other ways. We took a bunch of photos and danced the whole show. The sound was not optimal (couldn’t hear any vocals for example) - but the unique experience was totally worth it. Amazing!
Tumblr media
I could have went home directly after that and been content. We were floating on cloud 9. Then Brother Ali came on the Cabin Stage. We danced with Patrick and Kayla in our spot.
Clozee was the main closing act on Friday night. A solo female electronic artist from France. Described as ‘Nature with a Baseline’. Fun, even if not our cup-of-tea.
Unfortunately we couldn’t stay up for Break Science or Acorn Project. Sometimes that old age catches up with you. Bed at 1am.
Saturday the 3rd was a lazy morning. Julia slept in until almost 11am. I prepared another round of breakfast burritos and iced coffee. Passing out iced coffee to everyone around was a treat.
River time was perfect. We met Patrick and crew at the water fountains with their big intertubes. Walked down past the main river path to our more secluded spot. Janna and Grey met us there.
Tumblr media
Swimming, sunning, and generally relaxing all afternoon.
Julia and I ended the afternoon with a hammock hang in the forest above the river. In the shade we napped until almost 6pm.
Greek pitas with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, feta, hummus, chicken, and sauce hit the spot. Then we changed into matching leggings and hawaiian shirts. I wasn’t sure about the leggings with no shorts on top at first, but I went with it anyway. Looked great!
Tumblr media
The crew all met up in the regular spot again for Polish Ambassador DJ set. Patrick with his Pug leggings and Kayla in her dragon costume. Really wish we had a picture of that together.
Dirtwire was the 9pm band on Saturday night. 3 dudes playing a wide variety of instruments (13+?) wearing cowboy hats. Hilariously awesome.
Gramatik was the main act - and he blew the roof off with loud EDM. I drank whiskey.
I stayed up a bit later watching Spafford and Mctuff. Plus a walk through the late night tent, viewing the art installations all around. Bed at 2:30am.
8am Julia left camp for a work trip. A flight to Dallas for a WalMart implementation. Employee of the Month has its drawbacks.
I packed up camp myself. On the road by 10am after saying goodbye to the neighbors.
Home at noon, just in time to see Julia off to the airport. Too tired to drive downtown to watch the Sounders.
Overall an amazing weekend. The Umphrey’s experience is something I’ll never forget. Time with friends in the woods is always a treat. Can’t wait until next year!!

The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark Trip Report and Review
Tumblr media
Our family and friends decided to kick off summer 2019 with an overnight stay at The Kartrite Resort & Indoor Waterpark located a little over 2 hours from Central CT in Monticello, NY. This is the newest and biggest indoor water park in the state of NY and is located in the historic Catskills mountains. My friend texted me on a Wednesday morning in mid-June and asked if we were interested in joining them on an overnight trip to try out the new Kartrite Resort & Waterpark. We each booked a FAMILY KING BUNK SUITE (500 sq. ft.), which is ideal for families as this it sleeps up to eight with two sets of bunk beds, one king bed, and one queen sleeper sofa. The room also has a mini fridge and a microwave which was key for us to warm up leftovers when the kids were hungry again in the evening after closing down the waterpark. As a family of 6, we’re always thrilled to find a resort that can comfortably accommodate our family in one room. In addition, the waterpark provided a nice mix of activities for the thrill lovers in our group, as well as the younger family members.
Tumblr media
Plan your Arrival to Maximize the Waterpark Use
We arrived at 4:15 pm on a Wednesday in mid-June 2019 (check in is at 4 pm) and used the indoor waterpark from 5 pm until closing at 9 pm. The waterpark hours are 9:00 AM – 9:00 pm and guests are allowed to access to the waterpark on their arrival date even if your room is not yet ready.  By taking advantage of the date of arrival access, we were able to get a lay of the land and enjoy the flowrider and top thrill water rides.
Tumblr media
Pro tips:
-          Take advantage of date of arrival indoor waterpark access.
-          Try the flowrider. Please note that stand up riding is only from 9 – 10 am and 8 – 9 pm, so plan accordingly.
-          Check in is at 4 pm and check out is at 11 am, but there are lockers for rent that allow you to enjoy the indoor waterpark for a full day after checkout.
-          Pack a bag with flip flops, soup and a change of clothes to shower and change out of your bathing suite prior to heading home.
-          Take time to explore and enjoy the outdoor firepits and sitting areas. S’more kits are sold at the front desk for $5 for 3 S’mores.
-          Free movies are shown nightly in the lobby area.
-          The kids loved the bunk beds and found them to be comfy. Hubby and I found the king bed to be much harder than we prefer.
-          Food was expensive and average quality, so we had dinner at a nearby restaurant prior to checking in and then ate left overs in the room.
-          We did order honey garlic Chicken Wings from Harvey’s Wallbanger which were yummy. The kids also enjoyed delicious sorbet from POP’s Sweet Shoppes.
-          The employees were friendly and helpful. Our son even attempted to look for the lifeguard who helped him with the Flowrider to say goodbye prior to heading home.
-          Be prepared to walk as the hotel and waterpark are located on opposite ends an there are 100 steps to reach the stop of the thrill water slides.
-          Overall, we found the offerings to be a great value for our family and look forward to returning soon.
