Hey ghouls! As MH Rarepair Month creeps closer and closer, here are some rules, guidelines, and everything you need to know for this event!

Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, comments, or concerns that may not be addressed under the cut!

What is Monster High Rarepair Month?

This event is dedicated to super rare romantic pairings from all generations of Monster High. The 'spirit' (pun intended) of this event has its roots in crackshipping, any ship that has less than 10 works on AO3 is permitted. (see the fandoms tagged for g1, g2, g3, the g3 movies, and general 'toys' fandom tags to see if your pairing is eligible)

Monster High Rarepair Month will run during the entirety of September, with prompts being delegated on a week-by-week basis.

How do I participate?

Just create something about an ultra-rare pair! Whether it’s fanart, fanfic, edits, headcanons, meta, poetry, analysis, gifs (gifsets if you’re feeling fancy) - anything and everything you can think of is welcome! Following the prompts is encouraged, but if you’re really inspired by something outside of the prompt list or want to combine them in any way, that’s cool too! (PS - if you have a really niche crack pairing you've been waiting to show off, this is your time to shine!)

Please use the tag #mhrarepairmonth in your works as it will be tracked! You can also mention this tumblr, mhrarepairmonth, in your submissions if you want to be extra sure it gets reblogged!

Feel free to add your work to our AO3 collection! It's by no means required, but it's fun to have everything all in one spot.

All submissions will be reblogged to this blog by the end of each week. Late submissions are also permitted, whether it's by a week or even longer! :)

What pairings count?

As mentioned above, ships should not exceed more than 10 works in the above MH AO3 fandom tags. We’re counting counterparts from each generation as separate characters, so if there’s a ship with >10 ships but they’re marked under the Monster High (Toys) fandom tag, take a closer look and see if the pairing from whatever generation you want to create for is eligible! Some exceptions to our >10 fic limit may apply, see this post for more information.

Polyships/OT3s/OT4s+ are allowed, provided they also follow this rule. Get creative - maybe you'll even create an entirely new relationship tag in the process? :)

Since this is a ship-focused event, your work should be focused on a romantic pairing; even if the characters aren't explicitly dating, they should hold a romantic interest in one another. Incestuous pairings and selfshipping will not be included in this event.

Are crossovers allowed?

Unfortunately, crossovers from fandoms outside of Monster High won't be permitted (sorry EAH we love you 💔) Feel free to cross over the various generations of MH characters, though! As long as your pairing follows the rest of the rules, go crazy!

Other Rules

1. Follow general fandom etiquette; The principles of being kind and respectful of others’ works and don’t like, don’t read apply (for the latter, where applicable). Ship/character bashing will not be tolerated, and most importantly: tag your work properly!

2. Works that have been plagiarized or generated using generative AI will be excluded from this event.

3. NSFW works will be allowed - non-con/dub-con and adult/child relationships will not be permitted. Please be sure you follow Tumblr’s guidelines regarding explicit content. Worst case scenario, you can post your submission elsewhere and just link it here so it can be shared :)

4. Whitewashing, racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, sexism and any other forms of bigotry will not be tolerated. However, works that explore these themes (i.e, internalized homophobia) will be accepted, provided they are tagged with the appropriate warnings.

5. Have fun! Rarepair month is supposed be a fun and silly event to explore or create really rare pairings.

FAQ

When does the event begin?

The first day to post is October 1st, and it will run through the entire month, until Halloween (the 31st).

Where are all the prompts?

We’re releasing them a little at a time, so they don’t overwhelm you all at once and to give you a little something to anticipate ;) There should be a new batch of prompts posted every 5 days—so the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, and 23rd of September. The masterpost is here, to see the most recent update!

What can I make?

Anything that could be considered a fanwork. Fanfiction, artwork, gifsets, edits, moodboards, playlists… canon ships, reader inserts—so long as your creation features Eddie Munson, have at it!

How do I make sure you see my work?

Is NSFW allowed?

Yes, so long as all characters involved are over 18. Just be sure to tag it with #eddiemonthafterdark, and put any explicit content under a read more. You may also consider using Tumblr’s community labels, and artists might prefer to host their art elsewhere. That’s perfectly fine!

What should I tag?

Use #eddiemonth, and if it’s NSFW, #eddiemonthafterdark. Do please make sure to properly tag individual ships as well, or x reader fic as #xreader, for people’s blocklists. We will also be tagging diligently, so anything that slips through the cracks should still be filtered out on this blog. We’re here to celebrate Eddie, not get into ship wars!

Do I have to do every single day?

Boy, what an undertaking that would be! No, you do not have to do all 31 prompts this October, unless you enjoy the sort of challenge that provides. You can pick and choose which prompts you are most inspired by, do every other day, one per week—it’s up to you!

Can I use a prompt, song, or trait on its own, or do I have to use all 3 at once?

You can pick and choose which you take inspiration from! We tried to coordinate the tone of each so they can be used in tandem, but if you don’t like the feel of one or another you’re welcome to omit any part and just use whatever you are most inclined to.

Are late works accepted?

Yes, no need to worry about lateness, we’ll keep checking back a couple weeks after the event is over!

Is there an AO3 collection?

Yes, here it is! If you need help posting your work to it, we have a tutorial here. You’re welcome to post your works to it, but it is in no way required.

1. Any type of fanwork should be mainly focused on the Cody/Rex pairing.

That said—other pairings are allowed, as long as Codex is the focus. For example: you can have Anakin Skywalker/Padmé Amidala as a secondary pairing or even CC-2224 | Cody/Obi-Wan Kenobi/CT-7567 | Rex.

2. No Cody or Rex bashing allowed. Bashing in general is restricted.

Bashing of other characters is allowed but bashing of real people isn’t. For example: you can draw Codex fanart with Yoda bashing but you cannot post a Codex edit with George Lucas or MsScribe bashing. “Spite” fanwork must be restricted to spite against Canon or anything considered Star Wars in-universe. You can bash the Star Wars: Clone Wars 2003 series but you cannot bash people who worked on it or enjoyed it.

3. Fanwork must always be tagged appropriately.

No matter what platform you post on, tag your fanwork appropriately and follow the platform’s etiquette. For example: if you post NSFW Codex art featuring choking on a non-explictly NSFW Twitter account, mark your fanwork as sensitive and add “choking” to your tweet—so that people can be appropriately warned. If you post Codex headcanons on Tumblr featuring PTSD, either warn about it in your post or by using the tagging system. If you post on AO3, you must use the appropriate rating, the Archive Warnings whenever necessary, and either tag trigger warnings with canonical tags or list them in the author’s notes. If you use the Choose Not To Use Archive Warnings for surprises and/or twists, tag major trigger warnings in the end notes. For example: if you post a Soundcloud song with lyrics containing Major Character Death and Torture, add “torture and mcd” to your end notes as fanwork warning if you decided to pick Choose Not To Use Archive Warnings.

Announcing the Small Universe Stony Bingo Mini-Challenge

It’s soon to be Small Universes Month, the final but not least month of the Cap-IM Universe Medley Fest, here at @cap-ironman​.

In honor of that month, here’s a challenge for those wanting to try out new universes for SteveTony.

What's the Small Universe Bingo?

The Small Universe Bingo (or SUB for short ;D) is a challenge put together by Agron (jetblackfeeling), Holly (hollyandvice), and Lena (welcomingdisaster) in conjunction with the Cap-IM community. It is intended to focus attention on some of the less popular small universes our favorite heroes appear in. It's a team event where you work together to get bingo (or blackout!) on a specially-generated bingo card filled with different small universes. It's a great way to learn more about our two favorite superheroes in universes where we as a fandom may not usually focus. The only question is, are you up for the challenge?

Mini-Challenge Guidelines

Steve and Tony's relationship—whether it is romantic, platonic, pre-slash or otherwise—should be the main focus of your work and the “endgame” relationship, if applicable. Fanworks need to be set in the universe given on the bingo square being filled and/or feature at least one of Steve or Tony from that universe. If you are including only one, please make sure that the fanwork focuses on Steve and Tony's relationship.

Fanworks must be previously unpublished and created specifically for this challenge. Works must be standalone and complete, as well as meet the minimum requirements listed below:

Fanfic: 300 words

Fanart: sketch on an unlined surface

Fanvids: 10 seconds

Podfics: 300 words or 3 minutes long

Gifsets: 2 gifs

Meta: 300 words

Playlists: 5 songs and cover art

Please abide by the General Cap-IM Event Guidelines.

How does it work?

Create a team!

Teams can have between one (1) and five (5) members. You must have a team name for the organizers to put on the card. It need not be catchy… though we love us some catchy team names!

Sign up!

Fill out the Google Form to sign your team up. You will need to include one team member's email for the organizer team to send the card to.

Receive a card!

The organizer team will generate a card for you and your team to fill out and send it to the email submitted on the form.

Plan your bingo!

The objective is for your team to collaborate to get a bingo using your card. Accepted bingos include: horizontal line, vertical line, diagonal line, or a "4 corners" bingo (i.e. the four corners and the "free" square in the middle).

Complete fanworks for your given universes!

You can mark off squares by creating a fanwork for the universe in that square. Work as a team to get a bingo, multiple bingos, or even a blackout!

Submit your bingos/blackouts!

First, post the fanwork to the Ao3 collection. Then use the Google Form to submit the links to the works you've completed to achieve your bingo! You can also submit additional fills that didn't make it to a bingo using this Google Form.

FAQ

What kinds of fanworks are eligible?

Because this is a semi-competitive event, we want to make sure all submitted fanworks have a more-or-less comparable degree of difficulty. Therefore, we are limiting worktypes to include: fanfic, fanart, fanvids, podfics, gifsets, meta, and playlists.

What universes are included?

Here is a list of the universes the organizers have collected for the mini-challenge.

What if we REALLY don't like some of the universes on the list?

Teams are allowed up to three (3) vetoes. Those universes will be removed from the list before the team's card is generated. However, if the team elects to veto universes, that team may NOT choose a universe (see below).

What if there's a universe on the list that we REALLY want to create for?

Teams are allowed to pre-select one (1) universe that they really want to create for and have that placed on the card in the spot of their choosing. The remainder of the card will be filled in around that position. However, if the team elects to pre-select a specific universe, that team may NOT choose to veto universes (see above).

What if there's a small universe we want to create for that isn't on the list?

We tried to catch lots of universes with our list. However, it is inevitable that we'll miss some. If there's a universe your team really wants to create for that's not on our list, you can add it using the universe pre-selection option above. If you go this route, please try to include a universe number so that the organizers can include it on the card.

What if I want to do a crossover of two (or more) of the universes in a single work?

That would be super cool! Just note that if you want to get credit for multiple universes in a single work, the requirements will scale according to the number of universes. For example, a crossover with two universes would need to be a fic of 600 words, a fanvid of 20 seconds, a playlist of 10 songs, etc. Three universes would be a fic of 900 words, a fanvid of 30 seconds, and so on. Want to write 7500 words of crossover or design a piece of artwork featuring the Steves and Tonys from all your universes? Go for it! There's a special award waiting for you if you do! ;D

What if we get a universe that doesn't have a Steve or Tony?

Some universe options on the cards only feature one of the boys. In that case, you can feel free to write in the other in any way you desire! The Noir stevetony fandom provides many good examples — only Tony exists in universe, but fanworks have imagined Steve in many different roles, including fellow explorer, soldier, and artist. If you can’t think of any ideas, consider brainstorming on discord, and remember that multiverses crossovers (and multiverse shipping!) are welcome.

What if I want to be part of a team but I don't have anyone to form a team with?

Our first recommendation is to join the Cap-IM Challenges Discord server. We are hopeful that there will be other people searching out a team there! If Discord servers aren't your jam, you can contact Holly by email (hollyandvice@gmail.com) and they will be happy to try to connect you with a team!

We have officially reached the end of Ironqrow Week for 2020! Wow, it was quite a ride.

We got so much amazing content, from so many amazing people, and we here at Ironqrow Week are honoured to see everything that was created for this week. From fanart, to fanfic, to headcanons, to photosets and gifsets and manips, and everything else. You all did amazing.

Ironqrow is a ship so important to us, and we’re glad to know it’s important to all of you as well. Thank you for sharing this with us. We know we had a good time, and we hope all of you did as well.

We’ll be accepting late submissions until the end of the month. So please, keep making content keep creating, and keep being awesome. And even as the week ends, for the year, please keep making and consuming Ironqrow content. It’s such a wonderful, emotional ship, and it was fantastic to see so much new content and so many wonderful shippers.

I don't know anyone in 2020 who doesn't online shop besides my 80 year old grandparents because they refuse to learn how to use a computer 😂 I don't get how Will, a 30 something year old man, online shopping is worthy enough for Abby to comment on it. I'm sure Chris does it too. And Darren.

On Nov 5, Darren wrote this post and the cc fandom lost their shit.    

They decided that organizing 10 costumes for multiple events in two different states for two different people was not worthy of acknowledgment- especially since they wore several purchased costumes. They spent the next 30-ish days mocking her “online shopping skills” like the petty idiots they are and now they bring it up two months later.

ajw720 answered: The only difference, C controls his SM and the bearding, D does not, but they knew the Halloween post was coming when C posted his belated b-day wishes (not that he acknowledged they were late).  

It really is, if you can remove the very human, tragic element, like a script for a really bad D Movie.  C posts “Happy Birthday, Babe!” a day after the man’s actual b-day and “D” praises his fake bride for MAKING TEN costumes.  Sure praise her if she actually designed them and sat with her sewing machine.  No, she went online and ordered things (I doubt she even went to a store).   And 3 couple costumes were cheap frankly.  The only thought was how narcissistic she could be in their execution (as @flowersintheattic254pointed out even the Mario costume had  a reason, it was a reminder of Japan and the fake encagement by referring to the ad that paid for their trip there).

And seriously how are people not questioning that she spent the entirety of her month picking TEN costumes?  Who has time for this?  I know, i know, a person whose only role in life is to play fake plus one.

I am just so tired by D in particular being utterly dragged down by the useless dead weight by his side and his team’s sole ambition to promote her and make her sound like a decent person.  

If they wanted to praise her, maybe they should have forced her to participate in the zero waste initiative instead of sitting drinking by the pool or have her volunteer to help young girls who have been kicked out of their homes, or have been raped.  Or pick any cause and truly volunteer her time to promote it.  If she is not going to actually get a job and pursue a career, please force her to do something that is actually of value and contribute something good to the world. But to praise her for picking TEN costumes?  

Praise that comes from a man who this year alone won three awards, is starring in a show he created and wrote the music for, has his first big movie premiere this week, is exec producer and star of a huge show on N/etflix, just announced his starring role with 2 A++ lists actors next spring on Broadway, celebrated the 5th anniversary of the festival he created, volunteered his time for the zero waste initiative, performed at several charity events, and was just yesterday name limited series actor of the decade.  Where is the praise for him from his “bride”?  He at least deserves it.

How do they not see how ridiculous it is for someone with D’s accomplishments in 2019 alone praise a person for purchasing TEN costumes for Halloween?  And stans, how do you accept that this is right or normal.  You really know nothing about him and have such little respect for him as a person if you continue to accept the character his idiotic team has created on his behalf.  It is so far from the person he is and that he generally holds himself out to be when given the opportunity.  

This isn’t about being a “gay fetishist” or “hating woman” this is about wanting for D to be fairly and accurately represented and no longer forced to participate in this stupid, life sucking game to promote a person that contributes absolutely nothing to the world.  If you want to have a strong female role model, there are so many, i’ve talked about a few in the past few days (thus far Nancy, Lea, and Phoebe) and will continue to do so, but please stop worshiping a person whose sole reason you are speaking about her is her connection to D, even if you refuse to accept it is fake.

And all I can think of is how irrelevant the statement D made about being an emotional horder, being a very private person and finally D saying he's lazy when it comes to social media, I'm internally screaming in frustration because yeah we know D wouldn't have written a post praising that lazy good for nothing waste of space but he's coming across as a lier and it's extremely damaging to his character as a person. I absolutely hate lying and every time another "private" moment is posted to the world is another small piece that's chipped away from what D has originally stated about privacy. PBB, nobody cares about your cheap arse highly flammable costumes you buy online, did you forget about your piano baby adult strip club. I'm sure there are still plenty of people out there you can hire to rub and flaunt their flanges all over the beer taps, why don't you keep busy on that instead. If you want to make costumes, I'm sure you can sew some mighty fine titty tassels together. It'll be cheap nasty, sound familiar.

souly So, let me get this straight. We should all praise a person for going online, looking up different costumes in online stores, putting those in their shopping basket and hitting “buy”? What is it?

When we Take Different Paths is a 5 week art/writing event that will take place from October 1st-31st of 2018. Every week will explore and celebrate  a different aspect of lgbt including- wlw/femslash, mlm/slash, gender identities and sexual identities. The last 3 days will be reserved for Halloween.

What types of entries will be accepted?

We will accept art, fiction (drabbles, one-shots and multi chapter), edits (videos, gifsets, aesthetics) and head canons. Please use the tag wwtdp for all submissions. All work must be original to the person entering it.

Hey everyone, this June we’ll be hosting a LGBTQIAP+ Snape Month! The event will run for two weeks and will go from June 3rd to June 16th. The rest of the month can be used for late submissions.

What is LGBTQIAP+ Snape Month? LGBTQIAP+ Snape Month dedicated to all of the positive LGBT+ headcanons you have about Severus Snape! This includes all identities that fall under the LGBTQIAP+ spectrum. The event will take place over 14 days and each day will have a special prompt that you can choose to do. 

Keep in mind this month is for POSITIVE representation and any hateful posts will not be tolerated.

Some things to keep in mind when creating your content:

Don’t use slurs in your work unless you’re personally reclaiming that slur. And if you do use slurs, be sure to add content warnings to your posts as some people might find these slurs triggering. 

Avoid harmful stereotypes & tropes (for example: choosing to write a depressing fic that’s been over-done instead of choosing to write something more positive).

Do your research: if you’re trying to write about a particular identity but do not personally identify with it please be sure to do your research before posting content that may be triggering or offensive.
