No one in the cast is right for JC but I do think he wants and deserves a suitable wife so I like the idea of reading something where he's in a relationship. His problem is that he needs just, so much therapy before he can make an effective life partner for anyone. He features in this postcanon AU I wrote and that's a reasonable depiction of how I think things could shake out for him after many years have passed if he's worked on himself. Basically, I know his extracanonical list of qualities he requires in a wife is meant to be humorous, but I tried to incorporate them into an OC while also making her a match for him.

I dabbled in reading Sangcheng because I am a slave to @starwife and like, in theory, many many many many many years postcanon who knows what might happen? And mightn't that be interesting? Sadly I have come to the conclusion that it's too much of a stretch and isn't my cup of tea. Pls forgive

I was racking my brain to think of a JC pairing I kneejerk hate beyond the general 'well, he isn't really compatible with any of the characters we meet' stance and then I realised I had forgotten Xicheng exists. Pause for audience laughter.

What can I even add here? It's based on nothing and it's not even like there's the intelligence of a thoughtful resistant read behind it. The laziest possible pair the spares approach taken by people whose reading comprehension is so poor they think JGY is an irredeemable cackling villain and WWX is a noble woobie. Thankfully it's easy for me to avoid and therefore ironically ends up irritating me less than bad Xiyao in practice.

favorite platonic/familial relationships

I love his relationship with his mother. She's just horrendous to him and I don't think he ever has any concrete evidence she loves him until their final moments together, but what I find most interesting and realistic is that he seems to understand her. He can see why she is who she is, which doesn't in any way mitigate the damage she does but is an important part of their dynamic because it's an element of why he defends her and it contributes to how he internalises her criticisms.

My favourite JC and YZY moment is this:

YZY emotionally, verbally and sometimes physically abuses her son. She is failing him as a mother and as a mentor. But she is not failing him as badly as JFM is failing him, and everything she says here is completely correct. And when JC and WWX talk about it afterwards, JC is also correct. WWX and LWJ kill the Xuanwu of Slaughter and no one cares or gives JC credit for his less glamorous contributions. His own father prefers WWX and doesn't even like him, and that is appalling.

WWX means well by trying to gloss over it, but it's an open secret and pretending it's not true is harmful. YZY is also going about it all wrong, but she's the only person who calls JFM out directly for failing his son. Pot, kettle, but there's a reason why when JC is stuck between his parents he ends up going over to his mother's side.

a headcanon that is popular in the fandom but that i disagree with

I'm going to go radical here and say I don't personally enjoy or want to read any postcanon Twin Heroes reconciliation. The novel is pretty final about how things end up for them, and it's my belief that they are both far better off not being in each other's lives any more. It's sad because they were close as brothers and love each other so deeply, but ultimately it's for the best. They both appear to be in agreement about this.

We all know I'm MDZS first in almost everything, but I'm not a huge fan of JC's hair in the official art. Besides, it cracks me up that JC is far and away the most stylish member of the cast in CQL, and yet there's no indication that it's actually an interest of his. CQL NHS wearing his same basic bitch grey and white yet again while CQL JC swaggers past in his shoulder pads owning the entire world—amazing. How could I pick a favourite? I do like his official photo look though, because the gold looks great with the purple.

Riddle

He likes the fact that XLR8 is extremely fast, he even picked up a talent at rollerskating because of it. :3

Four arms is a sort of close favorite, mostly because of the strength to just punt anything into the sun. He won't outright say it, but if it wasn't for swampfire, 4 arms would be Riddle's favorite full transformation.

Swampfire is his favorite full transformation. I believe it is pretty self explanatory. :'3

He doesn't really like echo echo that much, but alas, he finds it OK to be able to have duplicates. It's like working in a perfectly coordonated team, which is a breath of fresh air from the *ahem* a certain duo.

Wildvine is Riddle's favorite half transformation alongside Heat-blast. Again, for pretty self explanatory reasons. When in half transformation, roses grow out of his left eye, which Riddle didn't know why. Later on, after an eye test, he found out that his left eye has a slightly bigger number and couldn't see as well in distance than with his right eye, who was perfectly fine. It wasn't something that outright needed glasses or lenses, but it is something that Riddle only found out because of his half Wildvine transformation.

Goop is more of Riddle just relaxing a bit. A few times when in this form, he could be seen resting as a smol lil puddle. Ace once caught him in a jar, which resulted with a heavy collar and a lecture. :'3

Heat-blast, again, is a favorite half transformation. This is also one of those half transformations that Adeuce and Jack find absolutely badass looking, which only ranks it higher as a favorite. :D

Diamond head is probably one of the reasons Riddle picked up ingineering design. At how he summons those crystals, he had to study how to make quick and sturdy structures, not just raise a wall and hope to work. :'3

Big chill is a pretty wierd experience, because when in half form, he doesn't look intimidating at all(Ace's words, not his) but it's a very versatile alien. Sometimes, if he still has a few minutes after a fight/training and Ace, Deuce or jack would need some cooling, they would huddle around Riddle since he was basically free fridge. :'3

Upgrade is the reason Riddle picked up mechanics. Although upgrade relies on imagination too, Riddle had very poor imagination and as such, the next best thing was either to ask Adeuce or Jack or just study about machines in general. :'3

Ghostfreak is more of a salty transformation, but also one Riddle loves to use to spook Adeuce. These 2's reactions are always priceless. :'3

Wildmutt. His first and the one Riddle feels like he should use more often, but his pride won't let him go batshit crazy and rip to shreds an enemy.

Kalim

Uses XLR8 when he wants to steal an extra cookie after Jamil said enough for the day. :'3

Four arms is seen by Kalim as a top tier hugger. Jamil doesn't believe it that much but meh :'3

Swamp fire is one of Jamil's personal favorites, but Kalim finds it meh (no hard feelings, pls :'3) it's a combo of Wildvine and Heat-blast in Kalim's eyes.

Echo echo! One of the favorite full transformations! :D

Wildvine is definitely on the meh tier, mostly since Kalim does not really know how to use the plants in other ways than to crack a whip on the enemy's back. :'3

Goop! the precious Goop is one of his absolute faves :D

Heat-blast is Kalim's first transformation and holds a special place in his heart as both first time and also special bug extermination method Jamil approves of.

Diamond-head is Kalim's favorite half transformation for 1 motive: shiny :3

Big Chill is a form Kalim rarely embraces because it has those scary vibes. Same thing applies to Ghostfreak as well.

Upgrade is fun, but breaking the freezer is not :'3

Wildmutt is the only time Kalim truly acts like he's absolutely free. Jamil just thinks it's ironic how Kalim acts like a gigantic golden retriever :'3

Epel

XLR8, Four arms and Wildmutt are his favorite and he would fight you on it :'3

Swampfire is more neutral to Epel. He just doesn't see the appeal. But he considers it a far better mix of Heatblast and Wildvine.

Epel doesn't really enjoy that echo echo is smol.

Wildvine, much like Heat-blast are cool, but Epel would say that Swapfire is just a mix of the 2.

Goop is fun, Goop can stain Vil's curtains, Goop is great!

Epel appreciates that Diamond head is stronk and 'ripped', even more cool when he learns to control the said

Big chill is such a cool transformation in Epel's eyes. He isn't a big fan of the more eerie intimidating, but he thinks it's pretty awesome how the temperature drops around him or how his wings can turn into a cloak/poncho

Upgrade! The reason why Vil doesn't let Epel drive. EVER.

And Wildmutt! The absolute favourite! Vil would probably appreciate it if Epel won't chew his carpets :'3

Idia

He uses XLR8 for deliveries pickups or faster fights. Thankfully, Idia seems to be a naturally born roller skater, talent which he never knew he had. Ortho really wants to go rollerskating, but that still needs some time of convincing :'3

Four arms falls in the same category as Diamond head in the 'big stronk hunks', what sets the 2 apart is that 4 arms is even more stronger, while Diamond head has Idia always inventing new ways to use those cristals.

Swamp fire falls in the same category with Wildvine, where Idia sometimes forget that he can regenerate his cut plant limbs. Sometimes he still freaks out about it. :'3

Ortho adores echo echo, so Idia sometimes indulges for his brother to pat him on the head when in that transformation. :3

Goop is the first transformation Idia experienced and he sometimes uses it to hide around or manage machines from inside.

Heat-blast is great for Idia. It feels right with his motifs, but he has poor control over the flame expansion once he ignites something. He is still working on it. :'3

Now, Big chill is a favorite and as such Idia often uses this transformation, mainly because of the cold atmosphere it creates, as such he usually hugs Ortho like this when his circuits might overheat. That or use ghostfreak post book 6. :3

Upgrade is another favorite, because Idia just has a long experience with machines and experiments on it. That's why it's a favorite.

Wildmutt is more or so a fun one for Idia, especially when he can't properly see people, but just sense their presence. If he doesn't see them, he feels better and as such has a better performance. But sight is also something Idia does rely on a lot so when Wildmutt is out, Ortho does have to guide him with a few things.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - thoughts after reading it for the first time

hello pals, well damn, it’s officially been about two days probably three, after i finished ootp because I needed to process the hell out of it before i could discuss it sjhshjhjsa otherwise i would have just spent this whole post screaming WHYYYY sahjhasj so lets do this

how in the world did this book make my love for harry GROW EVEN MORE??? i didn’t think that was possible but here we are. We really see in this how everything is effecting him mentally and it’s incredibly heartbreaking and realistic. i love him so much and the whole time reading this i just wanted to hug the poor boy :(( 

OKAY THE ORDER i love the order. they are so cool and different and really fun to read. like the first part of the book shows them all engaging with each other and their dynamic so well, and it’s soooo fun to see. one of my fave scenes still remains to be mrs weasley and sirius arguing over how to raise harry sjhashjshjhsa that was just sajhsahjhjas i love seeing all these people who care about harry interact it’s really fun to read. ALSO tonks is SO COOL

alright alright, i should probably acknowledge the elephant before i continue otherwise the rest of this is gonna be me in denial asjhhajs SIRIUS :(( SIRIUS. i really really really love this character you guys, he’s everything i have wanted since the moment i met harry. all i asked for was someone who could love him and support him, someone harry could talk to and trust. someone who loved harry like a parent and harry could go to for love and comfort like a parent. and then we finally got sirius.  This book really made me see the dynamic between sirius and harry, crystal clear. it showed how alike they are. and when harry was angry, it was like sirius was the only one who understood that anger cos he felt it too !!. harry had someone who understood him, loved him and would do anything for him. he finally had a parent.  So, i ask you this, WHY WOULD THEY JUST TAKE THIS AWAY FROM ME AND HARRY????? HUH??? H U H?? IM SO MAD YOU GUYS IT’S BEEN DAYS AND IM STILL MAD AND SAD BUT LIKE NOW IM MOSTLY MAD. it’s not fucking fair it’s not. and the ending when harry finds that mirror that would have saved sirius?????? my heart literally died. IT DIED. they didn’t even get a proper moment to really be together you know? like they couldn’t talk and see each other the way they wanted to because harry was so worried about losing him. and now it’s just. it’s over. and it happened so suddenly it just,,,,he was there and then he wasn’t. STAB ME. the impact of this was huge and i can’t explain the kind of emotion it invoked in me. it was so intense and that alone is one of the reasons i absolutely adored this book. 

on a nicer note, i absolutely love Luna Lovegood. She is such a good character, ever time she appeared i would instantly smile or get excited, like she brings something so different and exciting to the story. she’s super different to them all and because of that they judge her at first but she continuously turns out to have so much wisdom and help to give if they just listen to her. WHAT I REALLY LOVE THO, is how throughout the whole book we see harry be completely discredited by the ministry and because of that no one believes him, and it’s incredibly frustrating and isolating. but then we see that mirrored in luna. like harry, she’s also discredited by everyone who knows her, so much that they call her “looney” lovegood. and because of that, no one takes anything she says seriously, just like harry about voldemort. but we see that when we do take her seriously, what she says is helpful. I especially love this because at the end when harry is empty and grieving, he desperately seeks something that could give him that tiny shred of hope or comfort that he desires. he even seeks out nick the ghost, but then in the end; the person who is able to understand how he feels the most, is the only other person that has been just as discredited as him. and it’s luna who is able to give him the comfort he needs. and i really really love that. it’s so perfect to me. and i see luna as such an important character i better see MUCH MORE OF HER PLEASE

umbridge can go to hell

I LOVED DUMBLEDORE’S ARMY !!!!! that was incredible and the room of requirment !!!! ahhhhhh i love. it was so cool to see harry accept his talent for defence against the dark arts, and to use that to rebel against umbridge and teach his peers. i really love how at the end the people who go to harry to help are who harry sees as the people in the DA he’d want help from the least, which makes them all unlikely heroes but they are all so incredible. like i adore these kids you guys. i would do anything for them. i can’t wait to see more of them ahhhhhh

as always the twins were AMAZING i love them so much they really are two of my ultimate fave characters in ANYTHING EVER like i would literally do anything for them. I BETTER still see them in the next book a lot even tho they aren’t in school anymore. pls pls pls gimme my fred and george content 

i should probably acknowledge cho because harry’s first experience at dating was super amusing and tiring but it feels like that was a lifetime ago. i really liked how they showed that tho. like they were both more into the idea of each other than the real thing and that’s often what a first crush is. i really liked how this was depicted.

Okay that ending was incredible but more than anything, the scene in dumbledores office and the PROPHECY was so so so good. not so much for the info dump but more for the way we saw the relationship dynamic between the two and the feelings it gave me. like i really felt what harry was feeling and the fact that i was able to feel that is amazing to me. that’s what i want out of books and this whole book, but especially that scene did that for me. the prophecy is holyyyyy fuck. it breaks my heart. harry finds out on the night when his godfather died trying to save him, that the reason his parents died was because voldemort wanted to kill him. it’s horrible. but also i find it so interesting how it could have easily been neville (which im also proud of because i kept asking my friend questions about why neville and harry are SO SIMILAR *flips hair* im that good) but voldemort CHOSE THE HALF BLOOD  which can i just say, is so contradictory to voldemorts entire motive of this war. to keep the wizard world pure blood only; but his greatest enemy is the half blood like him. not the pure blood.  like dude you’re admitting the half blood is the only wizard strong enough to beat you soooooooooo  i also really wanna learn more about this and why he chose harry like AHHHHHHHHH IM GOING CRAZY WITH FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS I CAN’T BELIEVE I ONLY HAVE TWO BOOKS LEFT

OH OH OH i almost forgot !!!! dumbledore continues to talk about snape like he’s the greatest thing since a beard comb and it’s so frustrating. especially when harry and i are fucking grieving because they keep killing off the people we love and not asshole bullies like snape. like ugh CAN HE STOP whats his deal??? like we know he was bullied (to be fair apparently he also fucked with james back) but how does that justify him literally being a DEATH EATER??? speaking of death eaters, i hope they all die painful deaths, especially bellatrix. she’s disgusting. BUT I DIGRESS, i guess i don’t know how to feel about snape tho. idk. i hate him just like harry does don’t get me wrong. but im so CONFUSED like what is he playing at?? did he tell sirius where harry was going to help or to make sure sirius would be there so his friends can kill him? like im sorry but i don’t trust him. idk guys im just WHATS THE POINT OF THIS DUDE?? 

okay so i probably missed a lot of stuff cos there is way too much in this to cover, and if i missed something you really want my opinion on please shoot me an ask, but overall i LOVE this book. i think it’s my favourite one so far I SAY THAT ABOUT ALL OF THEM but you can’t blame me. they are all SO SO SO GOOD AHHHHHH help me i’m so obsessed. but seriously this book invoked emotions in me i didn’t know i possessed. I cried so so so much in this over so many different things and i feel like i have a connection with these characters i’m not entirely sure how to explain. i just really love them and this story and im hurting right now, but i really hope harry will find happiness it’s just SO UNFAIR sdhhjashjas im sorry im okay im okay. im gonna start the next one soon hopefully knowing i’m grieving with harry will help ashhjas.  ALSO part of the pain of this, was when sirius died i couldn’t stop reading to react to it because i was so sure it wasn’t real and that he’d come back because HOW COULD IT BE REAL? and that’s exactly how harry felt so once again, i love how this story makes me truly feel and see things like harry i love that i’m able to connect to it like that and it’s a massive reason why i love this as much as i do AHHHH <3
